Hi man, I was really moved by your story. I am a metal fan. I lived for many years in muslim countries as a kid. I got tied to an abandoned railway in the desert in Turkmenistan by the authorities for wearing a slayer t-shirt. Some nomadic people saved me just before I expired. They actually had a phone and some WiFi and were using google translate. In my infinite wisdom I instantly thought, ouh maybe they'd like to listen to a bit of slayer, my critical thinking skills ovbiosly were slightly impaired by the huge mega dehydration because I just did it. As I hit play the harsh reality dawned on me that, hey, if they don't like Slayer I may be in a tiny bit of a pickle here. Luckily they loved Slayer, the Cheif took me to his tent and played Slayer to his wife.
I can only guess, but I assume they want to enforce a secular society. And hey I'm all for avoiding superstition, but I'm not for the government enforcing it.
Great video! It’s a shame some countries outlaw such great music, and I hope the Iranian musician is ok. Look into “bone records” from the Soviet era. Not metal, but outlawed bands (mostly punk) in that time used reclaimed X-Rays to print their own records for subversive distribution. The underground always find a way!
hmm , interesting , so what have we learned ? That greco/roman , judeao/christian western ideologies evolved and allow freedom of expression and speech , erhmm , and yes thankful is right mate ..,
Russia? Metal in Russia is still doing very well, more of a problem is they are confined to their country due to language barrier like many (hi)spanish bands. Of course because of the war and sanctions the transition is harder and people are not allowed to speak openly about the world, but such music is fine there. It is just divided between "prowar" and "antiwar", the "antiwar" being allowed to play in western countries, like Imperial age or Arkona. While bands like Radio tapok will likely stay in Russia. Or my favourite, Grimwind :)
When I saw the thumbnail, I was like, what does this have to do with Keanu Reeves? Lol. But I'm sure you've already heard that a billion times already, sorry for the generic comment 😆
Can we send in SEAL Team 6 to rescue Kabooz and bring him here??? China is interesting, because in a country of 1B, they have less than 500 bands. To get the girls in on this, For I Am King 🇳🇱, as a Persian singer, and AtriA 🇦🇪 is a Persian band with an awesome woman drummer. I could talk about this for days!!!
Ya. Lol. I like how he says that he's not going to just cover Muslim nations then proceeds to have only Muslim nations, one country that is the most locked down dictatorship in the world (which doesn't count if they ban basically everything anyway), and a country that called for a representative to look over the set list( which again isn't the same as the others because in theory you can get metal through the party censorship if you plan ahead and Barry your meanings well enough.) I just hope this young man can convince Norway to help save him.
9:30 so what exactly happened to them? I live in Russia and I'm just curious. I really love this obscure language, because you cannot find evidence that metal is actually banned in Russia, but you just HAVE to sing the "Russia bad" and "Russia has no freedom" songs, don't you? So what happened to them? Could you be specific? I actually saw on some other UA-cam channel about Cannibal Corpse's lyrics being illegal in Russia or something. Whch is absolute bullcrap. So once again, I'm curious. cause I live in Russia and I freely enjoy all the music I want. Except for the music that is released under American labels that follow American "sanctions". But Russian government, by the way, makes no attempts to ban American music from being listened to in Russia. But American government literally prevents Russian music from being listened to in America (forcing American labels to get out of their deals with Russian bands). Freedom! Murica! =)
Since it seems like you live there, you'll probably know much better than me so I'll defer to you. What happened to Behemoth in Russia? Is this article incorrect? www.theguardian.com/music/2014/may/22/behemoth-ordered-leave-russia-metal What happened to Rammstein in Russia? And I'd be interested to learn your perspective on Pussy Riot as well. I'm happy to learn.
@@heavymetalphilosophy Firstly, about the article. Yes, I heard about that. The band literally broke the migration law. You see, to come to Russia and work (earn money), which is exactly what they were doing, you need a work visa, not a tourist visa. BTW, I'm pretty sure it's the same in other countries, including U.S. But guys made tourist visas because it's easier and cheaper. They actually admit in your article that it was because of wrong visas, but then they go on to say that it was just a "pretext", and the real reason was Putin. Which is so funny and such typical propaganda. So, you break the law, you get arrested for breaking the law, but breaking the law is just a pretext, and it's really all because of Putin, right? So I guess Russia doesn't have the right to enforce law? I guess I'll go steal something from a local grocery, and if I get arrested, I'll say that theft was just a pretext, and I got arrested because Putin is a dictator. Next, Rammstein. I have no idea what happened to them. Never heard of it. That's why I asked you to enlighten me. BTW, it was you making the claim, so why do you "defer" to me? Lastly - Pussy Riot. ohh... I don't even think a comment section will be enough. You see, they were trying to get themselves arrested for years, breaking all kinds of laws. Once they literally publicly performed intercourse in a museum in front of visitors, including minors. They have a long story, and frankly, I don't think I have the patience to type so much. But eventually they got arrested for their "performance" in the church. If you ask about my perspective - ok. My perspective on their arrest and punishment - I think two years in jail was too much, but on the other hand they did break the law, and also they behaved like a-holes and provocateurs. They came to a church, where people go to follow their religion (which they have a right to do) and conducted misdemeanour. I think they got two years as a "accumulative" punishment for all their previous wrongdoings. And my perspective on them in general - they are obvious provocateurs who were trying very hard to get arrested, broke the law numerous times and finally get what they wanted, unfortunatelly reaching their goal of giving people like you a good story about "Oh look Russia is a totalitarian country that punishes musicians for theit views". Now I have a question for you - you say proudly that you live in such a "free country" and you can "enjoy all the music you like" freely. How does that work, when your government effectively bans music from certain countries (i.e. Russia) to be legally distributed in your country, just because it's from Russia? Once again - Russian government doesn't do anything like that.
@@nettlecarrier8259 🤔 Interesting. This isn't a perspective we are exposed to much. I also wasn't aware of Russian music being unavailable here. I have heard a few Russian bands, so I'm assuming it must be chosen? Thank you. You've given me a bit to think about.
@@heavymetalphilosophy Well it's not a direct ban, but kind of effective ban (I'm talking about Russian bands in U.S.). Under the whole "sanction" thing American businesses, including, of course, record labels, cannot do business with Russia. So that makes it kinda impossible or at least very difficult for them to keep Russian bands in their rosters and legally distribute their records in U.S. I know that some Russian bands had to leave Russia and publicly condemn Russia to keep their record deals. Now don't get me wrong - I'm not saying there's absolutely no censorship or other bad stuff going on in Russia, of course there is. But I notice that people in the West tend to really, really blow it out of proportion, in the same time ignoring a lot of messed up stuff that is going on in their own countries. All I'm saying is Russia is not that totalitarian open-air Gulag it is shown as in Hollywood movies, and U.S. nowadays doesn't really seem like a Land of the Free it (maybe) once was. They are both countries with their own upsides, downsides, oddities, triumphs and shortcomings.
Ruzzia is an asian country since 77% of it's surface is in asia and the behaviour is same totalitarian stile like china , Nkorea, iran, pakistan, afganistan
Metal should police itself. It tolerates racism (Pantera), pro-rape/infanticide lyrics (Danzig), animal-cruelty (Ozzy Osbourne), Trump (Nugent), and underage sex (Nugent again). Other recurring themes are misogyny, murder-lust, and dangerous occult references that should be left alone. I grew up loving most heavy music, but got put off by lyrical and thematic (not musical) extremism. Just accepting everything is as bad as banning everything.
@@heavymetalphilosophy: Possibly not to real metal supporters and bands, but the public perception of him is metal. He's an embarrassment and a disgrace to music. The point of my post is not that censorship is to be defended - it isn't - but that extremism in itself isn't helpful. Just my view, and I don't expect to find much support for it. As a vegetarian, I gave up on metal when Mayhem started throwing meat around at gigs.
@@Userius1: That's your lookout, mate. If you think infanticide (something Trump has committed) and rape (oh, another of Trump's crimes) are "cool", your life is a wreck already.

Cmon nowadays there's no tours cause of the war. Yes metal is huge in russia ffs in China is different, movie metal an headbangers journey, why Metallica maiden etc played there.
Excellent video! \m/
Thank you! 🙏🤘
I'm broke as fuck.
Sorry I couldn't throw any more. I hope it helps my brother in metal....
awesome vid ! im guessing you already know about BANGER films
The GOATS! 🤘🤘
Sadly we're not that far away from it here, Jon.
We're definitely closer than I ever thought we'd be. 😔
🎶 Ee-Voel. In League with Say-Ton. 🎵 🤘
Laibach performed in North Korea back in 2015, not quite metal but worth mentioning.
Still that's quite shocking. Especially given the ambiguity of whether or not their totalitarian aesthetic is parody or not.
The other day I was feeling depressed after realizing there’s a good chance that I will never hear what it is I’d consider the best metal song ever written. There’s just too much that it’s impossible to hear everything. Fuck I couldn’t even imagine not being able to listen to any of it for fear of being executed.
Right?! 😩
tbh i dont know what people who dont listen to metal listen to. yea sure they play tracks but do they HEAR what they are listening to? and what even is to understand is shallow music
Perplexing yes. 🤘🤘
You have free will with the choices you were given! (Very interesting video, we are lucky)
Thank you. 🙏🤘
Why does this dude look like Keanu Reeves?
🤷
Heavy metal keanu
Because he was born that way, don't you think?
Keanu Riffs
I love listening to metal music it is a passion I have.
Yes! Life! 🤘🤘
Do you think Rage Against the Machine, could get a gig in China or North Korea?
North Korea's lack of oil, equals a lack of interest... Sorry, buddy.
Absolutely not. And yea... It has nothing to do with morality. Liars one and all.
@@heavymetalphilosophy I know... I'm sorry brother, I'll pray... Don't forget that Burmaha and Tibet, among others, were never considered.
RATM are communist, so probably thay could.
They're huge hypocrites. Al-Namrood has real balls
bro thinks america goes to war for oil 😂😂😂
The metalhead version of Jesus christ .
😆
Just want to add, everyone check out the band Narjanaham. Thank me later. Also Scarab, Maat, al Namrood
I listen to Black Metal all the time and I know that some countries don't allow some black metal bands because of their style or their controversy
😣
@@heavymetalphilosophy I know a lot of black metal bands that are good
i wonder why songs cant be about the paranormal.. that's kinda weird
I can only guess, but I assume they want to enforce a secular society. And hey I'm all for avoiding superstition, but I'm not for the government enforcing it.
Nader Sadek 😞
Great video! It’s a shame some countries outlaw such great music, and I hope the Iranian musician is ok. Look into “bone records” from the Soviet era. Not metal, but outlawed bands (mostly punk) in that time used reclaimed X-Rays to print their own records for subversive distribution. The underground always find a way!
Will do! Thanks for the tip. 🤘🤘
hmm , interesting , so what have we learned ? That greco/roman , judeao/christian western ideologies evolved and allow freedom of expression and speech , erhmm , and yes thankful is right mate ..,
Took them decades but finally now it is just limited to getting stared at in public.
Maybe some of these bands are political in nature, not because of music itself. These are some seriously good metal bands in Arab countries.
I want to hear some very loudest 🥰 perfectly powermetal performance skills of totally awesome abilities!✨🥰👏
The thumbnail looks like your getting bummed
😆
Thank you for informing us. I'll have to check these bands out. 🤘🤘
Is this John Wick?
😆
Greatest music in the world and banned? Yeah not a country I wanna visit. Horns held high 🤘🤘🤘
Very high! 🤘🤘
When I saw the thumbnail, I was like, what does this have to do with Keanu Reeves? Lol. But I'm sure you've already heard that a billion times already, sorry for the generic comment 😆
😆
Executed.. Norway?
tafaq..
He would be extradited to Iran and then it's possible the Iranian government would execute him.
Did I hear a «rock and stone»?
It is painful to comprehend. God bless America
Indeed!
Free the people of Iran! The days of the genocidal Islamic republic are almost over
Can we send in SEAL Team 6 to rescue Kabooz and bring him here??? China is interesting, because in a country of 1B, they have less than 500 bands. To get the girls in on this, For I Am King 🇳🇱, as a Persian singer, and AtriA 🇦🇪 is a Persian band with an awesome woman drummer. I could talk about this for days!!!
I wonder how they got started 🤔
@@heavymetalphilosophy For every Cain, there is a Seth. 😉

I take an "M" for Muslim-Countries Jared..
Ya. Lol. I like how he says that he's not going to just cover Muslim nations then proceeds to have only Muslim nations, one country that is the most locked down dictatorship in the world (which doesn't count if they ban basically everything anyway), and a country that called for a representative to look over the set list( which again isn't the same as the others because in theory you can get metal through the party censorship if you plan ahead and Barry your meanings well enough.)
I just hope this young man can convince Norway to help save him.
Whoah is it illegal in San Dimas? Rightous

John wick?

Jon Wicked.

METAL MUSIC IS GOD
🤘🤘
Is this article incorrect?
www.theguardian.com/music/2014/may/22/behemoth-ordered-leave-russia-metal
What happened to Rammstein in Russia?
I can't like the video cuz I don't wanna upset the balance lol
Ruzzia is an asian country since 77% of it's surface is in asia and the behaviour is same totalitarian stile like china , Nkorea, iran, pakistan, afganistan
Who cares about what happens in IRAN?
Was your brain replaced with a testicle when you were born or?
Metal should police itself. It tolerates racism (Pantera), pro-rape/infanticide lyrics (Danzig), animal-cruelty (Ozzy Osbourne), Trump (Nugent), and underage sex (Nugent again). Other recurring themes are misogyny, murder-lust, and dangerous occult references that should be left alone. I grew up loving most heavy music, but got put off by lyrical and thematic (not musical) extremism. Just accepting everything is as bad as banning everything.
Ted Nugent is metal?
@@heavymetalphilosophy: Possibly not to real metal supporters and bands, but the public perception of him is metal. He's an embarrassment and a disgrace to music. The point of my post is not that censorship is to be defended - it isn't - but that extremism in itself isn't helpful. Just my view, and I don't expect to find much support for it. As a vegetarian, I gave up on metal when Mayhem started throwing meat around at gigs.
Getting hung up on Last Caress, huh? I blast that in the car a lot.
@@Userius1: That's your lookout, mate. If you think infanticide (something Trump has committed) and rape (oh, another of Trump's crimes) are "cool", your life is a wreck already.
