@@WildCamper thankfully, being a former bivvy camper and new to hammocks, I didn't know underquilts were a thing! I used a modified sleeping bag slung under as an alternative but didn't work so well. Hammocks are my new favourite thing as I can stay outdoors quickly with my boys and no fuss. So far I have a quite wide Swiss brand iso mat that is working well and then a really stripped down Klymit thing that will be too minimal (recon, I think it's called). Anyway I like the brand so may try the winged V. Greetings from Switzerland!

Funny enough, I was only recommending it to a another UA-camr the other day. I still use it to this day. Can't fault it. It's still the warmest under blanket style, bit of equipment I've ever used and I won't be changing it anytime soon. I'm highly recommending it. I promise you you won't be disappointed!
maybe the coincidence is a sign to make an update on it to recommend it to folk :) It’s super expensive for me, but… buy once cry once, right? Thank you so much for the super quick reply!
+ray fraser have used the regular one so many times and can recommend it. The hammock one with wings I have used it twice since ,no issues to report. ATB Rob
@@WildCamper thanks, I saw that in the video. With my Hennessy, the bug net is stitched all the way around and you get in and out of the hammock though a Velcro opening that is in the center bottom. I've used standard sleeping pads in it before, and it takes a bit of shifting and shuffling to get everything situated once I'm in the hammock. The only really negative I've had is that a standard ¾ length thermarest doesn't always stay underneath you if you roll in the night. I've remedied that by placing the sleeping pad inside my sleeping bag. I thought that this new klymit hammock pad might be better due to its shape and anti slip surfaces. However, those features might actually make it worse for my specific hammock since it's bottom entry and I need to be able to shift things around once I'm in the hammock.

@@wiscflank248 the wings are designed as such to pop up at the sides and block any wind that might come past you in the night. Having used all sorts of under blankets this is definitely The superior option!
@@WildCamper I tried last night, you can actually fit the mattress in between both bottom layers. Works like a charm, wasn't cold. Great combo. (The DD Hammock I use is the travel one, in case it makes a difference)

Do you get dipping sauce with those wings! I like Ranch! What is the price difference between the two mats? And when you were on the island camp didn't you get woke up by your arm touching the side of the hammock! Atb Mark in Texas!
Mark Martin hey Mark , gotta be ketchup!! Yeah I did get woken up but in hindsight I had not placed the mat quite right. With the regular mat I would get cold feet as well.👍
Mark Martin can't remember the price of the original mat , cheap in the USA but add import duty and shipping adds a massive cost , still love the klymit stuff though 😀
The main issue with the winged mat is you are not sleeping on a diagonal in the hammock like you should. Or it is just you not know how to sleep in a hammock properly.
You can do diagonal if you wish with this pad, I confess i have not had professional hammock sleep training so may well be "doing it wrong" . Feel free to enlighten me if you have the skills
Look up hammock gear they are custom made and they will fit any hammock. While you are there check out the cuben tarp and check the weight of those. hammockgear(dot)com
Good review. Cheers! Considering one of these...
Which one lol , the hammock one I really like. Hated the underblanket style ones just so much faff . This works a treat!

Hiya not tried with the asymmetric system, truth be told I'm not a massive hammock fan . Prefer the ground 😃
great vid only complaint i have is the music played way to loud in comparison to your talking. keep it up! hope the comment helps.
Cheers for watching 👍
Hey, I’m wondering if the hammock V stood up to the test of time, and if you found a better alternative? Thanks in advance for the answer, ATB

Well hello👋you are very much welcome! Cheers Rob
The age old subject of comfort vs weight It will always come down to weight and cost for me but can you put a price on comfort????
acedecss as time goes by stuff gets better but at the moment about £100 for a half decent mat or hammock underblanket/mat
have you used this pad many times since you made this video? and has it stood up. im thinking of buyiny one but want an honest review. cheers .

Any thoughts on how the hammock v would work in a Hennessy with the Velcro bottom entrance?
Not sure tbh as never seen a Hennessy but you can on the DD pop it under the top skin if you wished . I showed it out just to demo 👍 ATB Rob

Hei, does it fit in between the two bottom layers of a DD hammock?
It doesn't, sits on top as shown 👍
