    Something i did notice, whether intentional or not, Andy said he turned on the fence cause he thought Mark screaming was the "alright" sign, even though, Mark only screamed in pain AFTER the fence went back on, maybe Andy tried to catch them off guard and kill them while they were handling the fence, just something I noticed when replaying, since Andy saying he turned the fence on cause Mark yelled. Even though the fence came on BEFORE that, Andy probably said that as an excuse

      Good catch. watching the clips over and over, it did seemed he did that on purpose but another thing with that by the off chance mark, lee or both of them died by the fences because of andy, it would've made the reveal of them being cannibals a lot less revealing and having the group eating the meat a lot easier without getting caught

    • @rickygamingproductions
      @rickygamingproductions 15 днів тому +29

      @@JG-nz7kxYeah, that's probably why this isn't really touched upon after, rewatching the scene, it's definitely one of the moments in the episode, that would definitely make you question the St.Johns in a really subtle way if you pay attention to the dialogue, and what actually happened. That's what I like about the episode, there are subtle moments that make you question everything, but not enough that it's obvious, until the dinner scene where it's revealed, they are cannibals.
      Also, something else I gotta point out, I love the detail of the scene where Lee leaves Andy alive, we see a zombified Brenda walking out of the house towards Andy, something about that is just terrifying, The choice to leave Andy alive, feels like the choice where you can make him suffer, as he watches his home get overrun, and his own mother, a walker.

      This! And what crazy is that some people that played the gameplay nowadays said it was a set up like Leland and mark gameplay they was saying it was back door etc set up which is crazy cause he turn it on cus they knew mark and Lee was fixing the fence and pushing off the walker so they plan was to get one of them . That was a big sign too

    St Jones intentionally turned on the electric fence to get Lee & Mark to die slowly from injury and eat them.

    • @zoid_on_youtube
      @zoid_on_youtube 14 днів тому

      im not sure that tracks though cause if they died outside the fence theres a high chance theyd get munched by zombies before the St Johns could get them, and I dont think theyd want to eat infected flesh (although I dunno if its ever been shown whether or not thats actually safe)

    • @Anunnamedtank
      @Anunnamedtank 14 днів тому +15

      it's probably not to eat them, but to lower the number of people they have to worry about. Remember, Danny said they have to be kept alive else the meat get tainted, and while walking towards the farm, Andy said the electric fence was like 20,000 volts or something, which is lethal.

    Fun fact: in season 1 ep 2 there were LOTS of deleted scene and content I'll put it here (from wiki fandom):
    _ During the bear trap incident, the situation was completely different. Travis was not present and Lee, Kenny or Mark had to help Ben shoot the walkers while one of the three cut off Mr. Parker's leg. If Mr. Parker was saved, the story would progress as normal, but if he was left behind, Lee would have been left with an additional choice whether to leave Ben behind as well. If David was left behind, Mark would get shot in the head at the dairy by the bandits after he and Lee finish clearing the fence at the St. Johns dairy, requiring Lee to get back to dairy alone, Mr. Parker would then be found taking up Mark's role of being the dinner.
    _ There a various unused rooms seen in the files, such as an empty room, a stairway, and a storage room.
    _ Lee and the group could choose to bring gas or not. If Lee said no, then Andy would come back with some food every day until the group said yes. Ben would stay behind due to the traumas, Kenny replacing his role in joining the trip to the dairy. Lilly was more acceptable to the newest member, teaching him the basics.
    _ There is a dream sequence present in the game data, whoever you didn't save (Doug/Carley) came back to haunt Lee in his dream asking why they weren't saved, and that Clementine will die because of his actions. The senator that Lee killed is mentioned, his name revealed to be Sam. They end it with "Do you think you can save me this time?"
    _ When the group arrived at the farm, the group could either take the biscuits or leave.(Refusing them apparently results in a hilarious dialog between Mark and Carley/Doug) Lee could also freely leave the farm and back to the motor inn if desired.
    _ When first arriving at the dairy, Lee could have initiated in dialogue with Danny, where he reveals that he and Andy are responsible for the bear traps in the forest and that they are rigged to not be opened. Lee could bring the incident with David to him.
    _ Kenny could have initiated in more dialogue with Lee after he returns from the hunt with Danny. Kenny's dialogue include his lines from the teaser trailer about the possibility of war, Lee could agree or disagree. Kenny would also mention to Lee about what he saw in the barn, which he would come to the conclusion that they are keeping food.
    _ One thing to note about the bandits is that the group was originally aware of them and presumably encountered them several times.
    _ In addition, the bandits were supposed to pose a much bigger threat in the story.
    When Duck and Kenny are playing on the swing, a walker would have appeared and would be electrified by the fence.
    _ There was more to Jolene. Depending on Lee's choice she could mention another bandit called Paul, and her daughter Danielle.
    _ There's an unused audio clip where Brenda tells Lee about her husband's fate. She says that a bunch of walkers got into the house somehow, and attacked Terry, thus killing Terry.
    _ The dinner sequence was much larger, as an unused sub-quest occurred where Lee had to cut Clementine's food or let Lilly/Kenny do it. Lee could also choose to add more salt or pepper to Clementine's plate or let the two above do it. There were several retakes of a prayer, and Lee at this point had found out that Mark/David was dinner.
    _ There was originally more backstory on the barricade seen in the downstairs hallway.
    _ Originally when Lee excuses himself to wash his hands, Lee could have picked up some pills from the cabinet.
    _ Additionally, Lee could give them to Lilly when she tries to revive Larry.
    _ Larry's death was much sadder as he in his dying breath apologized to Lilly for not being able to protect her and her mother.
    _ When Lilly tries to revive Larry, she would have said her line that can be heard in the teaser for Starved For Help.
    _ When Kenny tries to convince the others to put Larry down, Lee had the option to let Kenny kill Larry or restrain Kenny in an attempt to stop him from crushing Larry's head, however Kenny would overpower Lee, as opposed to the choice in the final game.
    _ After killing Larry, Kenny had much more dialogue in meat locker that included apologising to Clementine for making her witness Larry's death, he also would suggest to Lee about removing the AC unit rather than the player discovering it themself.
    _ In addition, the conversation would play out differently depending on Lee's actions.
    If Lee had agreed to let Kenny kill Larry, he would approve of Kenny's suggestion.
    If Lee fought with Kenny, he would sarcastically ask if Kenny was gonna knock him down if he didn't agree.
    _ There was also an unused interaction where Lee could ask Kenny for help.
    If Lee agreed to let Kenny kill Larry, Kenny would agree to help but politely tell Lee to wait for a second.
    _ If Lee fought with Kenny, then he would sarcastically say that Lee's always eager to help him.
    _ When deciding Danny's fate, Lee had an additional option to simply knock him out.
    _ The group was scattered at first after the revelation of cannibalism, Lee found Kenny first, who was shot beforehand, and then Lilly before trying to rescue Duck and Katjaa.
    _ Originally the group did not find a station wagon, the food was in the barn. After Doug/Carley and Ben saves Lee and the others and after Andy's fight, they all took a box and went back to the motor inn. The supply room was replaced with a bloody tub, metallic equipment and jars containing organs instead.
    _ If the player decided to help Larry, later when the group is in the forest and Lee gave his answer to Clementine about the St. John's fate, Lilly states that she already knew about Lee killing the man who slept with his wife. She accepts that as believes Lee is making the right decisions. This was scrapped for unknown reasons.
    _ If Lee made every choice that goes against Kenny as much as possible, he would tell Lee before finding the station wagon that he is leaving without both him and Clementine.
    _ Additionally, after the survivors took the food you could go around asking everyone how they felt about today's events in the motor inn. If Mr. Parker was left behind but taking Ben he'd tell that it was a horrible fate for his teacher as he was a good man.
    The teaser for "Long Road Ahead" was going to be longer, but was cut down most likely to prevent spoilers.

    also, poor mark!! dude lost everyone in his life and for months was with randoms as well as trapped alone. he befriends lee and helps him out just to get hurt. after they get you in, they find an excuse to get rid of lee and leave you with strangers. they don’t kill you, but rather cut your legs to shreds, leaving you in a pool of blood all alone once again. but despite it all, he uses his last living moments to save the people he barely knew. poor guy.

    • @sinofeni
      @sinofeni 15 днів тому +7

      ben wasn't cut out for the apocalypse at all as much as i love him and think he's a great character
      the entire point of twdg, to me, is that people suffer in ways they don't deserve. kenny lost his family and he didn't deserve that but it created such a depthful and deep powerful character that wouldn't exist without his suffering, and to me that's the same for ben
      he died in a way he didn't deserve but he was able to make peace with kenny and able to make peace with the world; kenny puts his hatred aside to give ben a gentle introduction to the afterlife instead of letting him die in pain and agony. kenny was mad at ben and rightfully so and he COULD have left ben to die surrounded by the things that terrified him. he could have let ben's worst fear take him but he didn't and it created mutual peace between them for the very last time and this was such an important development for kenny and ben. it was left off on a perfect note i feel and it showed some development for ben (he actively tried to be better. he told lee to kill him because he was self aware that to the group he was better off dead, and he tried to be calm when he fell off that balcony and got impaled. he only ever panicked when walkers started coming because the concept of them hurting him was horrifying to him and was his worst fear) and completed kenny and ben's development
      and i understand the development you're talking about is development where ben, would grow into a strong person who could fight for himself and everyone else and do the good things he intends to, but that's never the person ben has been even if he's tried. he is a good example of what most people would end up becoming in a situation like this and a great flawed character. he never deserved to die the ways he did but what he is also a great example of, is someone who deserved better

    The one thing I loved about this episode was the debate it constantly sparked. I watched multiple playthroughs, and the make or break of whether I'd continue was how they dealt with Larry in the locker (at the time I never got to play the game so I couldn't validate my own choices until otherwise, so that was how I took control). Most of the people I watched chose to side with Lilly and tried to revive Larry, and whilst I understand them, I always side with Kenny based on being harshly logical. I feel bad for Lilly and, hell, no matter how I felt about Larry I wouldn't have gone through with it unless I believed it was the best option for everyone. The consequences for not acting could've been grave for everyone involved if he truly was dead, and surviving a heart attack without proper medical attention after just isn't too likely. I feel bad for Lilly and understand her disdain for Lee when I chose to stop Larry from turning, but at the end of the day I always squish him for the betterment of everyone. :)

    • @silentecho92able
      @silentecho92able 8 днів тому

      Plus by all accounts, Larry was a major detriment to the group considering he has a short temper and get into fights with everyone, which does not help do to his heart condition. An what happens if the medicine runs out as the pharmacy is running out of meds. Or he has a heart attack in his sleep and turns into a zombie, first thing he will do is eat Lilly while she sleeps.
      It sucks for Lilly but i have to side with Kenny on we got to leave the motel when the time comes, as Macon has already run its course as it lacks supplies and nearby bandits have made the general area there territory.

    Episode 2 was always my favorite of Season One’s WDVG, and easily among my top 5 in the whole series. While the series (both games, live action show, and comics), never shy away from the grittiness and brutality of living in such a world, it’s this particular episode that showcases how fairly good or at least decent people (minus Danny, who gave me the creeps from the get-go, and definitely needed to be put on the sex offender register) can warp into monsters.
    Starvation is a terrifying and horrible thing. It’s slow, it’s painful, and it messes with the mind. Brenda St. John, while a horrible cannibal, torturer and murderer, seems genuinely reluctant to shoot Lee even when she has the upper hand. And Andy, who definitely does the grunt work with his brother in “procuring” meat, falls into despair at the loss of his family. More than likely, they weren’t monsters in the beginning of the zombie outbreak, and unlike the bandits, we still get glimpses of their humanity. Like most people in the WD universe, they were people forced into dire straights thanks to the bandits and lack of food (plus, since it’s relatively still early into the apocalypse in terms of months instead of the years that people had adjusted to), chances are they didn’t get the chance to become their worst yet.
    If they had lived, say, a year more or two, how much more heartless would the brothers been? How long would it be before the mother started to take pleasure in killing? They are twisted and evil, no doubt, but if they became worse by feeding on each other in the winter? It’s interesting to think about.

    My one question about it all is considering that it's only been about 6 months, it kinda baffles me that some people would resort that quickly to cannibalism. That's always been one of my biggest gripes with TWD, certain societal norms are broken way too quickly
    I will grant that some people would break very quickly, especially considering the circumstances, but in some cases, it feels that it happened WAY too quickly
    Especially violent tyrannical leaders like Crawford, people would still be very empathetic during the time of season 1 which happens during the first year, and they would reject his pragmatical and harsh approach of survival of the fittest mentality

      i never thought about it like this but i totally agree, but then again 6 months probably felt like eternity to them in this situation… not sure if they eventually just stopped keeping track of time
      to add onto your point it’s weird how they turned to cannibalism when Danny and Andy are very capable of going out to scavenge food but then again i’m assuming there was nothing left since Lee’s group and the bandits all didn’t have food

      @@clementinemarsh476 Considering there's a whole town fairly close by. Either there were a whole butt load of scavengers or they're too reluctant to take large risks since who knows how many walkers are around and hidden in town.
      Though, I think it's a big plot hole for the sake of creating conflicts and that's a big problem I have with TWD, it's about the whole mentality of "The dead aren't the ones we have to worry, it's the living." that's not creative or smart writing, it's pretentious

    The game could of been something better if the writers weren't restricted.
    Maybe one day, A.I will be so advanced, we could just remake the game, with all of the ideas, and even add a few.
    Give it a prompt, a script, and it gives us a refurbished game, voiced and everything.
    Good video as always.

      Literally what I was thinking! Imagine Ai being able to create the scenario of Carley never getting shot, or lee stopping Lilly in time from pulling the trigger, possibilities are endless if one day A.I can recreate twdg without being so restricted.
