This is how dictators rope people into their power trip. Hitler justified his genocide against the Jews, Slavs, Romani, Africans, LGBT etc. by pointing to Germany's economic recovery (not really) after the Great Depression.

@@teemo9141I think it's cause Carver wanted to kill Reggie. Reggie tried to escape with the group, betraying Carver, was maimed meaning he's a liability, going against Carver's ideology and he failed the simplest task of making two girls collect blueberries. Reggie was just a mouth to feed to Carver removed him.

Carver was the best villain in the TWD in my opinion due to his presence, having his own theme and the fact he has killed most of the characters we know and is the reason our group is on the run and is running away from him, he killed Reggie, almost killed Kenny, killed Alvin and possibly many more who went out of line and his group is the reason the rest of the group either end up dead or stranded. Carver is a great villian cause he's tough and he will see it through to the end he doesn't care what stands in his way such a fantastic villain for TWD.

I really wish they would have fleshed him and his camp out more. It was a huge waste to have him hyped up by the cabin group for so long just to kill him in 1 episode.
There was so much potential but the poor pacing makes him some murderous psycho by the end with people that blindly follow him with no real explanation. I think the season would have been fine if we were stuck with carver the whole season.

I feel like Carver had the most missed potential in the from of writing wise
His ideology in leading and his way of surviving could have been a really good way to antagonize him and give him a message from Season 2 to the Final Season.
The ideology that someone must lead the newer generations his way because it's the most efficient way
Writing wise, he could have been more active in the end part of Season 2 where his ideology can be put to the test by letting Clementine try to lead the group his way, or try to prove him wrong by trying to lead the group her way and through out the series, her decisions challenging his methods and from there on out of the series and really questioning the player if he was really the good guy or bad guy

I think Able from Season 4 is the greatest villain in the series, tho.
Edit: I like able because Lily really wasn't the one puppeting him like some people think. He also managed to get mauled by a group of walkers, come back, kill people with 1 arm, and Able is known by the whole group, so they KNOW him and he's been around for a WHILE. i think Carver is actually scarier than The Governor in both the comics and the show, Gareth, and show Negan. Show Negan was always too silly, unrealistic, comical, and annoying in my opinion. He also didn't really look or sound scary to me. especially when he would grow his beard. Simon was scarier, and even Dwight was scarier at first.
Comic Governor was just insane. yes, he was scary because of that. but he isn't particularly intelligent. he's just charismatic and happened to be the leader of a group his older brother once was the leader of, and later he grew it into a community. Yes, I can admire that. but being charismatic, ruthless, and a sociopath doesn't make you intelligent. \
on the other hand, show governor and carver are both charismatic and highly intelligent. the difference is that Philip Blake is completely insane. He isnt all bad, or else he wouldn't have almost redeemed himself in the Governor-centred episodes in season 4. and he clearly cared about the little girl and her mom. And although he almost seems like he was going to r*pe (censored so YT doesnt take down my comment) Maggie, he didn't really fall thru it and was just doing it to fuck with Glenn's head. This is still a vile act. But it isn't anywhere near as vile as what the comic version of the governor did in the comics. show governor may be intelligent, charismatic, physically imposing, and cunning, but he's he is over-obsession, mentally weak, and insane. Likely due to whatever happened before the apocalypse went down (tho he was likely always mentally unstable to a certain extent).
On the other hand, Carver is actually more evil than The Governor. He's more violent, more aggressive, has committed r*pe, and he's utterly ruthless. All while being mentally stable, charismatic, highly intelligent, and even honest on a certain level, because im sure nearly everyone knows how evil Carver is. even people who work for him. And although this might not be the most tactful reputation to have, he does use it to his advantage, and he can even be fair. He's also much more fearless in the face of death than The Governor, who could sometimes be cowardly - especially in the comics - though the Governor has shown bravery in the show.
Overall i fear Carver more than any other villain. Yes the governor and Gareth from Terminus are intelligent, charismatic, and unpredictable. And yes, the writers of the show tried to give show-Negan a similar air (despite everyone expecting him to do everything he did because of the comics), but similar to Negan in the comics, Carver is ruthless, strong, highly intelligent, charismatic, and unpredictable, all while not being insane like many of the villains in the show and comics.
I also think Carver was likely ALWAYS evil, even before the apocalypse. The Governor in the comics has a novelized backstory where he's portrayed as a cowardly weakling before becoming the Governor, but he's also likely been evil at heart his whole life.
The Governor in the show might not've been an evil man before the apocalypse but he certainly might've had some traits that would make it easier for a guy like him to become evil or deranged, similarly to Shane. Though unlike Shane, i feel like The Governor might've has some kind of ASPD or bipolar disorder.
Negan in both the comics and show were likely not evil before the apocalypse. They were more like asshole who were aggressive. In fact, in the show, he's sort of portrayed as a lowlife

Carver’s line about the next generation is proven right in the 4th game with the school full of kids. I really liked Carver. He didn’t have enough time to fully flesh out who he was because he was more of a plot point than a character. So all we got to see was him be a “bad guy.” He thinks only him and a certain type of person like him know the “truth.” His last words before his crowbar makeover make that clear.

I remember, all the way back when I first played Season 2, I thought it was very disappointing. Too many missed opportunities and it also felt like some of the writers didn't understand the story and characters they wrote.
I completely agree that the Carver camp storyline should have been extended into the rest of the season. It had so much more potential, especially when compared to what the rest of the season was after Carver and his group was dealt with. It also made the 400 Days DLC from the previous season feel unimportant. Most of the characters we've played as in that season turned out to just be unimportant background characters with maybe a line or two and arguably the worst of the bunch was made into an even worse companion character.
Even if you do like Season 2 as is, I don't think anyone would argue that it's far from as good as Season 1 was, despite having the potential to be even better.

Just an idea since your diving into characters if there are characters you may want to talk about but don't have enough substance for a stand alone video you could do a compilation a like three characters for a video

Now that I think about it. From the original deserter group, only Alvin was a victim of Carver. But I like to think it was a personal grudge from Carver perspective because of the posibility of him being the father of Rebecca's child.
The rest, ALL OF THEM dies because of nature. Walkers (Carlos, Sarah, Nick, Pete), hazardous environments (Luke) or because they didn't have the required neccesities to live (Rebecca).
That means that they were safer with Carver than their own. Which means in a sense, Carver was right by telling Clem that she was different from the group by being stronger than them, she was the only one who survived from the original group.
I completely agree that he should be a threat to Clem (not the group) through the whole season, and having him as a point to make the tough decision at the end.

I agree Carver could have gotten more screen time maybe after the fall of Howes he could escape and become a crazed stalker like what they did with Minerva at the end of Season 4 but with that said I still think Carver IS the best villain throughout all the seasons, he reminds me of one of the Comic/Show's biggest villains Negan. Carver has the same relaxed always in control attitude even in tough situations, he's perceptive and good at reading people like Negan, More often than not uses violence to make a point (and enjoys it), and is played by an infamous actor, Michael Madsen's gravely, ominous voice does a lot of work for the character and I instantly knew the Developers were making a point when casting him, that this guy is BAD.

The problem is that there wasn't enough development of Carver's story. They get captured, and in two days they manage to escape and kill Carver with ridiculous ease. They didn't give the player the time to feel that feeling of helplessness and frustration that Negan generated in the TV series. It needed at least 2 episodes, or even 3 and to end the season with Carver's death.

Honestly thought the amount of time Carver was in the story was perfect. He is supposed to be a warning about Clem possibly becoming as warlike as he is, and a warning to Kenny’s downfall due to parental possessiveness (fatherly want/instincts about AJ)

Carver lacks depth beyond his jaded views. He has little to no reason for why he acts the way he does. He's intimidating, but because of everything he does it's obvious he's going to get hit with karma.

Carver is definitely the deepest villain in the series. He has so many nuances to his treatment of others, his beliefs how he is a hypocrite, his obsessions and goals. His motivations and why he acts how he does is explored.

The funny thing about Carver's entire character is that Kenny was initially meant to be the villain that Luke's group were running from, but during the production of season 2 they changed that in favor of creating the character of Carver.

The problem with s2 is the pacing with Carver. Ep 1 and ep2 shows his presence as a villain. However after they escape we have Arlo and the internal conflict make up for it. It would make more sense if Kenny beats Carver in ep5, with arlo being a minion and is able to convince bonnie to betray us. We can still keep the moments of jane and kenny to build the tension, but seeing kenny brutally beat someone and jane abandon aj would keep them both at a similar level

Carver’s motivation to educate degenerates is incomprehensible to me. as well as his pursuit of Rebecca.
I mean, it might work - if there weren't any women in Carver's camp. BUT...there are at least 7 women in the camp.
his death seems pitiful and wasteful. TelFail could have held him...I don't know? Until the end of the season, or transfer the villain to the third season.
No. There was no potential for TelFail here. They just needed the cliché angry white man to walk around and say evil things. That's all.
Almost all the villains in Walking are complete crap, clichés and disappointments.
For myself, I only note “The Stranger” from the first season, Norma from the Michonne dlc, and Abel from the final season.

@tbspromotions The point of Clem doing a lot for the group links to Carver's ideology. That's the point of the season. Pragmatism vs compassion and that some will survive and some never would have. The cabin group is incompetent and indecisive because they're weak. Clem doesn't actually make any of the big decisions until the end which is the point but does do work fo the group which is because she is a capable survivor unlike the others. Carver was right to a degree.
