I've had many problems with over the counter alternators. They're all junk. The best places you can find good alternators are local rebuilders or car audio focused companies like MechMan.

Nice Lowes impact ! I hate to even ask where you get your parts, but when you buy your Air Impacts from a Home Improvement store, I don't even need to know that answer . . .🤣

I think I have the same problem just burnt an alternator out doing a burnout on the Rev limiter. Volts dropped to 9 and coils wasn't sending enough spark causing some backfire, I did make it home only because I had a new battery that was completely drained on arrival.

Your battery would keep the voltage up for a long time. You have something else going on unless you are pulling a lot amps. I run a big amp on my stereo 450 watts. When my alt goes out the the battery takes a long time to go down to 11 volts. I can drive home or to the auto parts easily.

No, Not when you have a Fuel Pump, ECU, Lights, Ignition Coil, Transmission Solenoids all drawing off of the Battery. As soon as the battery is not receiving the voltage to keep it topped off it will drop the voltage fast. So it makes sense what he is talking about. Also that is not a "Big Amp"...

@@trxtech3010 It is big. It used to have a JL 1000 next to it. Those things you mention wouldn't take 13v to 10v in the span of a few seconds. His fan would most likely be the biggest draw on the system.

it also drops from 14v to 12v right away when alternator quits supplying, then the draws pull voltage down from there.

      @@chuckyz2 lol No that's a Tiny Amp

@@trxtech3010 Not to me. It's more than I will ever need. Running some Inifinity Perfects up front And 1 12" JL Audio 300 watt. It may not shake the neighborhood, but it is clean and perfect. I got lucky with this setup. Everyone who has heard it says it's the best sounding car stereo they ever heard. And It is like 8 or 9 years old. Again, I'm not going for loud. I'm old as dirt.

I rebuild my own with high amp internals . But I used the stock pulley back . Ofc I’m not boosted so I don’t think this will apply to me lol .

I picked up an alternator from a you pull it. Got a 145ish amp alternator from a full-size. Haven’t put it on yet. Worth it?

I’ve always wanted to cut an Alt pulley and even an idler pulley. Since it’s right in the middle top. I think I will do that today after seeing your video.. I run two 4 Axis Makino A61NX’s in metro Detroit. (45 min north of Detroit aka the Suburbs)

I know on my 05 silverado 4.3 it has computer controlled alternator shiz and it is tunable thru hp tuners, check and see if yours is tunable as well. However my 02 blazer 4.3 has a alternator setup to run constant 14.4 it goes 15.2-13.5 depending on cold or very hot conditions. i wonder if yours is tunable as well? id like to see tuning on that parameter if you happen to be able to do that. Love the videos, lets go!!

I expected you to say belt slip, not over rev. I'll have to look into this, I'm using a 4.3 alternator on my turbo LX9.
