This album had an even heavier sound and tone than the 2 great albums that came before, we considered it an instant classic on the first day UT was released, we listened to it after high school and were utterly blown away. More classics to come. Their first 6 albums are solid gold and made them a lock when eligible for the RR HoF, though it took way too long to get them in, they should have been in right after Floyd and Zeppelin. They created whole genres of heavy music on this record. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
Finally, Sabbath MOR...Woo Hoo ! SL for me is heavy, earthy, funky, and just slow groovy...and yes, they were ALL on 420 when they recorded this...love Tony Iommi's fat, fuzzy, overdriven tone throughout this LP...great, fun reaction as usual from U both 👍🔥🔥🔥🌋🌋🌋
Ok. Im just now finding y'all. But y'all's reactions are the best I've seen for a minute. Actually I'm super glad you do multiple songs from an album in a row because it gives each song context. Great videos keep it goin.
I can clearly remember when this album was released. I was already a sweet leaf lover, this just reinforced my love for getting high. Sabbath was a very innovative band, influential to so many.
One of the best albums of all Times! The original of Doom Metal! NOBODY did this before this album, and this album STILL holds up among all the peers of today. The contrast between the low-pitched chuggy riffs and Ozzy's high pitched vocals are so PERFECT! I love how they stole the font of Beatles Rubber Soul - which was The Beatles weed album (although Help! was very stoned already lol) but had a black and purple color scheme.
You guys probably weren't even born when this album came out...:)...We had such great music in the 70's I love Sab more now than I did back then...I don't know how people only listen to one song though...I play one Sab song I have to play three albums at least...I'll tell you, as a musician for half a century; NO TWO SABBATH SONG ARE ALIKE IN ANY WAY except Ozzy's voice...They're brilliant writers.
Well, this is pretty freaking awesome! Ozzy era Black Sabbath is about as good as it gets. Often copied, but never matched. To this day, they still sound unique.
I still remember one of the Cheech and Chong skits where Tommy says something about listening to Black Sabbath at 78rpm and seeing God. Right around this albums release.
This is a very simple concept album, lyrically. Ya sit down, get high and start thinking. About God, the planet, your life, the future. A very carefully crafted concept that's laid out perfectly in the running order of the album.
Great video, I'm stoked you included the Beasties, Butthole Surfers, RHCP. I already liked those examples of Sweet Leaf quotes, but so glad you brought them in, to expand your educational content. Fun channel even for a rock geek with underground taste
Great to see you both again. Also great to see the free poster from the album in the background! I haven’t seen it since mine disappeared in about 1973, although I suspect it ended up on a bedroom wall in a student apartment in Manchester. Think Tony started detaining his guitars during this album so it’s possibly the origin of the definitive heavy metal sound. You’ll hear it more obviously on “ Into The Void “. Best wishes from England 🏴, as always.
consider, they are a trio with a singer. I believe Tony(guitar) plays light gauge strings, leaving Geezer(bass) to be heavier and more busier. wonder if it inspired Geddy Lee in some style? ❤ guys
Great reaction!! Made my Friday afternoon. This is probably my favourite Sabbath album! I just love all the riffs, themes & sounds they were creating! Honestly, you could put on any of the first 6 albums with Ozzy and I'm a happy guy! I don't think it was tongue in cheek, nor satirical...these were God fearing dudes! Geezer Butler did dabble in Satanism in earlier days, but I think it was more of a curiosity than a belief. Their image, as dark and gloomy as they portrayed, was always shown with every member wearing crosses (and not upside down ones). Really look at their catalogue, and you won't find any songs 'praising' Satan. Can't wait until you check out Children Of The Grave, and the real surprise on this album, Solitude! Cheers
Tony Iommi, music, Geezer Butler lyics. The greatest songwriting team in history. After Forever was not tongue in cheek. I don't know why you would possibly think that. The lyrics were the result of Butler's thinking about the northern Ireland religious violence. This was the most influential record of all time. It was ridiculous to give this album an honorable mention. It is #1 from 1971.
Awesome! About time you guys got back to some REAL music lol… Just kidding, but you can never go wrong with Sabbath and Zeppelin! I absolutely love this album. Looking forward to you doing the rest of it. ❤
Sweet Leaf - Is it a gong or the sound of deep inhalation? After Forever - I wonder why nobody ever brought up this song when evangelists were condemning Black Sabbath as satanic?

Bill Ward is a drumming God, Geezer is a poet, Tony is the riff master and Ozzy is Ozzy
Sweet leaf and sabbath forever ❤❤❤❤❤❤🤘🎸🎸🥁🎤🎵🔊🔉🔉🔊🔉🔊🔉🔊🔉🤘💯✅
Who knew the world would love sweetleaf, these guys did.
This album inspired so many genres of metal. My absolute favourite. That heavy sound!!
Black Sabbath are the Godfathers of Metal 🤘
No one else comes close in my opinion
Absolute pioneers and legends !
Just wait till Children of the Grave hits!

Sweet Leaf and some Berkley Blotter took me on a 4 day journey in 1971 it was awesome
Great pair of songs for the start of the album

The sound on this album is outstanding

Black Sabbath 1968-eternity🤘
I can't believe y'all throwed the Beastie Boys in there. That's fuckin' awesome. Lmfao.😂😂😂😂😂
Music is emotive, there is no good or bad, just "i like" or "i don't like" 👍❤️🎼🎶🎶🎵🎵

Tony Iommi tuned his guitar down to make it easy to play with his bad fingers. Geezer Butter tuned his bass down to match and they created a sound.
The Friends theme. Yes ! You’re not crazy.
I heard the Friends theme too when i was first introduced to this song, guess i'm not the only one.🤣😂
Love Sabbath, dig your channel. Have a good weekend

Best Album
I heard the same thing, that Geezer wrote the lyrics to After Forever.
good songs the bass a very good groove👍👍

I think Geezer downtuned his bass as well. We just listened to Children of the Grave (vid coming soon, of course), which had that heavy sound as well.
@@MusicforBusyPeople My usual standard of typing has resulted in Tony “ detaining” his 🎸 guitars. I need new eyes and fingers 🤦♂️ ffs.
Got the poster folded up inside my copy of MOR!
@@21Piloteer So that’s where mine went! 🤦♂️ Ffs.

Hi guys, The British do like their tea.

Going half a key lower they got even heavier, who needs keyboards or horns when they fill up soo much
"I'll be there..." has that same hi hat rhythm as After Forever.
I like High On Fire! They carry the torch of Sabbath, Slayer, Pentagram and all that is wicked 😈
Thanks for the reactions. About the Friends theme, I know it was partly lifted from an English Beat song called '"Sugar and Stress".
First heard this album age 13. The worm most definitely turned.
Las Chica es muy Caliente! 😁😁😁😁
👍👍👍👍👍👍
as a Sabbath fan from the mid 70s on I thought the Monkeys sound\vibe , but yes the Friends theme also fits .

Gotta love The Butthole Surfers even just for the name only.
Never in the history of mankind has anyone ever said “Preach it, Ozzy” 😂
He is very persuasive. Lol
"After Forever" is definitely a religious song. imaging this being played on a Sunday Morning at your local house of worship.
Awesome! About time you guys got back to some REAL music lol… Just kidding, but you can never go wrong with Sabbath and Zeppelin! I absolutely love this album. Looking forward to you doing the rest of it. ❤
We have been looking forward to it as well
Sweet Leaf - Is it a gong or the sound of deep inhalation?
After Forever - I wonder why nobody ever brought up this song when evangelists were condemning Black Sabbath as satanic?
Sweat Loaf 🤘😈
Magic Lettuce?
I was such a nin-comp-poop when this first came out! In Sweet Leaf, I thought he was singing about a GIRL.........Tsk.Tsk,Tsk......
Come on guys obviously they're singing about stevia 😂
Friends ????????????????????????????????????????????????????? what are u smokin?
Too busy to comment
Not to different, Sabbath many times warn about not siding with evil and look to the light to love and who is love but GOD.
guys, check out Some Black sabbath with Dio, it is even better, Sign of the soutern cross is a masterpiece ;)
It's good, it isn't better
They were just two different bands with Ozzy and Dio
