As I'm sure someone else must have already suggested that you watch the stop making sense film. Even if you have to bust it up and not watch it all at once it's amazing if you haven't seen it you should.

I heard a great quote from Andy Partridge, of XTC. Something like: We wouldn't have been signed in any other year than 1977. Record labels were trying to capitalize on this new, "Punk Thing" They didn't quite know what it was so they were signing everybody. And there is a lot to this. Just look at all of the amazing bands that released their first album in 1977. XTC, Talking Heads, Television, Wire, Elvis Costello, The Clash, The Sex Pistols*, The Jam, Ian Dury, The Damned, The Boomtown Rats, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, The Saints, Grace Jones, Radio Birdman, The Stranglers, Ultravox, The Dead Boys. Keep in mind, these are all Debut albums. * I believe The Sex Pistols and perhaps a few other of these bands had released singles prior to '77, but all of them released their official full album in '77

Maynard is far from shy

I first heard and saw them when they appeared on Saturday Night Live in the late '70s. For a new group, I immediately thought they had a lot going for them. I really like their take on Psycho Killer during their live "Stop Making Sense" video.

Tina Weymouth wrote the French part of the lyrics as she is half French on her mother's side. Her band Tom Tom Club is just as amazing as Talking Heads. Her bass playing is funky as it gets.

So, what you really need to do now is to pull up these same songs in searches that also include the phrase "stop making sense." The Stop Making Sense Tour and Movie is one of the great events in rock & roll history, as a series of live videos, and I'm pretty sure most of it is available on UA-cam and doesn't generally get blocked.

And you guys are listening to it without being in your basement stoned

I love LOST, I watched it religiously & I’d love to rewatch it one more time without knowing anything about it!

The 70s were ending and music was changing, Zep was staying relevant. Most older bands changed or faded away. I like this album.

Dropping acid and going to see Rush was always a blast! 🤩

They played No Quarter so well live.

Maybe my favorite Led Zeppelin song. This is a good live version. I wish there was more broadcast quality live recordings of them. I agree, the drumming is really good and you can hear it real good. I might’ve been at this very concert. They had five sold out shows at the Los Angeles forum this year and I was it one of those shows. It was pretty cool and pretty loud.

They did play this whole thing. Live on their live album called welcome back my friends of the show that never ends. It is really amazing. that was a triple live album back around 1974 and it is fantastic.

I loved this. I have heard this album a thousand times and I heard a few things I had not heard before. It is really cool on my surround system. Fun fun fun!

As years went by, they added musicians to their stage shows to more closely replicate the original recordings. Even at that, you can hear a lot of these classics evolve over the years.

If she's gonna keep being so unenthusiastic, you shouldn't bother doing reactions to LOST but if that was all jokes and she's really willing to see what was all the hype about this legendary show, be patient and pay attention to details, then I'm willing to give your reactions a chance.

In the beginning of Season 3, the producers discussed with the network executives they need a proper ending date for the show, so they agreed to end it in 6 seasons. Of course both parties made compromises in that discussion, so it might be fair to say it originally meant to be shorter BUT it's not a show they kept going on going for milking the cash cow. They knew when they're ending it for more than 3 years.

When I was 15 in 1980 a midnight movie was advertised as Darkside Of The Moon. Once the movie started it was This. All my friends felt cheated. The next day I bought Meddle.

I think, like most who watched it, the interest skyrocketed when the light came on. 🤭
