Beautiful, beautiful woman and gorgeous, gorgeous hair! I have high porosity hair and know how to care for it but I couldn’t figure out why the same products weren’t working for my daughter’s hair until I figured out she has low porosity hair! Now, I only use products without protein and focus on moisture and wash her hair with a gentle shampoo to lift the cuticle. To moisturize her hair, I use the LGCO method to twist and style her hair: liquid, gel, cream, oil. I use water, Kinky Curly Custard, my homemade creamy protein free leave-in, and organic palm oil. Her hair stays moisturized until the next wash day. Thank you for sharing what works for you: your twists are so juicy and healthy 🤩🤩🤩!
Thank you so much for sharing, I have actually never thought about adding Gel into my moisturizing routine, I just might want to do some research about this and try it for myself too Yeah knowing your porosity does point you to the right direction and just listening to your hair 😊
I’m so happy I found your channel. When I detangle my hair, I always noticed that when I finger detangle it, I don’t need to go further and use a comb/detangle brush. But I still ended up using a detangler brush because my sister use to tell me that’s how to do it. I now noticed that we have different hair types so what works for her, will not work for me. Thank you as well for explaining the porosity. I’m 4c low porosity. 😊
I’m so happy to have found a SA influencer. I have family and friends in SA and think You’re the perfect resource for them... as I continue to share natural hair hacks with them. I love your energy and thoroughness! 💕💕💕
Thank youuuu 💕💕 the funny thing is that I immediately felt like your voice was a familiar one... only to find out that you were in SA!! Yay, go me! Lol. I look forward to watching your videos and I anticipate more... I can’t wait to see what products you use/ recommend as it is usually challenging recommending products that I use here to my fam & friends in SA
Lmao lol 😂 it’s okay, some people are better off not knowing which porosity they are because once they know, they start doing too much so it’s okay. Did you find out if you are low porosity or high? Fun fact: if you have 4c hair, the likelihood of you being Low porosity is high because most people naturally have low porosity hair. At sometimes, high porosity is due to using too much heat on your hair etc, then it changes from low to high 💁🏽♀️. I hope this makes sense😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I tried it and my 4b curls have never looked better. My hair feels more moisturized. I'm going to recommend it to everyone
Great video. Loved the way you explained porosity and finally I realize I'm a low porosity. Can Iask that you do a full week video showing us what and how you take care of your hair? My hair is extremely dry and coarse. I now apply store bought aloe vera juice and add a few oils etc which assist in keeping it moisture. However, it seems I have to do this everyday, which is time consuming. I would also appreciate a video of how you deal with those single strand knots.
Now these are responses I live for 🥺. Thank you MP, I will upload a video next week, showing y’all how I take care of my hair during the week, how I moisturize midweek etc... When coming to dryness: I suggest that use products that are water based, also, how are you moisturizing your hair? Are you using the loc or LCO or loco method? If your hair is extremely dry I think we need to look at how often do you deep condition and are you using a moisturizing deep conditioner? Also, I think you could invest in either a very hydrating shampoo or just move to co- washing. And Lastly, I think getting a hand held steamer could really work for you 🤔 And I will also work on a video that shows how I deal with still strand knots, thank you for two video suggestions ♥️
Hey Mya, thank you for the kind words. And thank you for supporting. I absolutely agree with everything you said, it’s time that we teach our young girls self love and self acceptance ♥️😌

Tshidi i have seen videos saying with low porosity hair heat is recommended like using a steamer for example on wash days so that you can open your hair cuticles so my question basically is on wash days do u use heat?
No I don’t really use heat during my wash days however i agree with naturals that use steam as a form of ‘ heat during wash day. However, I am not a fan of blowing drying my hair, flat irons and so fourth.
Not OP, but I recommend using heat in the form of a face steamer (or clothes steamer set on low) instead of a blow dryer. It’s been working nicely on my 4C low porosity hair.

Hey Dorothy, I’m actually planning a “ natural hair terms” kinda vibes video... because we use these terms as if everyone understands them where in actual fact, nobody does. I will continue to make simple educational videos😌

Lol I’m honestly not a fan of wash and go’s lol because of my hair type but Sillah, rest assured that I’ll build up courage to attempt it on my hair lol
@@tshidiradebe yeah. It's not growing. It has stuck in one place for a while now. What natural remedies can I use to make it grow and also look and feel moisturized?☺️
My new hair best friend. Same hair type as me and I love love this video. Just subscribed and the aloe Vera juice is the best. I make my own from leaf from wholefoods
Tshidi Radebe I take a break but it’s one of two spray bottles in my bathroom. The other is just purified water and a leave in. My hair is thirsty and the aloe helps a lot. Please ignore my profile pic, that’s an old pic
The aloe juice will definitely help strengthen your hair and keep it hydrated for longer periods of time and obviously help retain length (depending on your hair routine). Thank you for watching Dijeng ☺️
Can you please do a detailed video of how low porosity hair looks before shampooing and after. I'm simply still not sure if my hair is low porosity medium or high porosity. Thank You 😊
My hair is low porosity 4c and u said nowdays your hair is too thick yet you are also low porosity. Would you please tell me the secret you used?? My hair is too thin and small on my head. Thanks
Thanks for the educative video I have exactly the type if your hair How do you keep your hair moisturized continuously because after washing and doing the LOC method my hair will be moisturied for few days and then it goes back to been dry. How did you make the aloe vera juice? Thank you.
Hi Aderoju, it’s my pleasure... here are two video links of how I moisturize midweek and how I make the aloe juice ua-cam.com/video/ZvcLDFgBkoY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/52FDsFI8xDk/v-deo.html
If you are in South Africa, Afrosense leave in conditioner, Afrobotanics deep conditioner or the dark and lovely, Organics shampoo, Iv reviewed all brands on my channel and then your favorite oils and a light weight cream and you should be good to go 😊
Hi Michelle. Only you can answer that, based on a lot of factors such as environment, hair type etc....I would say moisturize your hair when it feels dry. Maybe after 3 days, learn to listen to your hair, monitor it and moisturize when necessary
i love your videos! shea butter was a huge help to my hair and I think I'm going to start doing twist again to help me retain moisture and length!! you're doing great!! p.s.- can you do a video about scalp treatment and how to refresh your twists (not refreshing is my downfall)
Thank you so much, Shea butter is my go to for almost everything. Pro tip- refresh your twists every three weeks, to avoid hectic frizzing and locking. If you wait to too long, you become inpatient when taking them down because they are all tangled and all 😊. I will, in the near future 😊
@@tshidiradebe omg thank you for responding!! When you say refresh that’s just touching up with water, oil and product right? Or do you wash your hair in the twists? My problem is that I leave them in forever bc I don’t want to take them down but my scalp will be itchy and build-up will start to form
No no no, you must wash her hair if you think it’s dirty. Let me explain something: if your scalp is dirty, it’s very hard for hair to grow because it’s layered with product buildup. So please wash your hair when it’s dirty 😊.
Hey Karen, so I’m not sure if you are in South Africa or not but the best shampoo I have used is the Organics Shampoo, it’s moisturizing and the Afrosense Shampoo, it’s a healthy balance of clarifying and moisturizing. Deep conditioner : it will be the Afrobotanics deep conditioning treatment and I’d say the low porosity line from Shea moisture and the Dark and lovely Deep conditioner which I just recently reviewed, I was shocked 😳. I hope this helps.
@@tshidiradebe Im actually from mozambique, i don’t think we have the afrobotanics but we sure have Organics products and dark and lovely so thank you for replying 😘
Because this video was taken two years ago, I think it’s best to give you my recent routine Pre poo- Hot oil treatment or flex seed with coconut oil Shampoo- I use two shampoos, one to clarify & a moisturizing shampoo Deep condition with a hooded dryer, using heat helps Then I moisturize using Shea butter, oil and leave in conditioner
I have a question. Does your hair work better without a hair cream/leave-in conditioner? I was curious because I noticed you used aloe vera juice, oil, and shea butter to moisturize your hair. If you could please clarify, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance! P.S.: Your twists came out very nicely! :)
Interestingly enough: if I use leave a in conditioner my hair retains moister for a bit longer, like 3-4 days. If I don’t use a cream, my hair feels less heavy however my ends dry up first. So I suggest you use a leave in, oil and cream just so your hair can retain moisture for a bit longer. It’s winter in my country and we both know, just touching our hair is a mission lol during these cold times. I will definitely do a video on the importance of a leave in conditioner... And Thank you
Tshidi Radebe i don’t know how you do it.. I would love to not moisturize my hair for 3 days but I moisturize and it’s dry the next day.. I try to seal with oil and then it just feels dry and oily
@@thefantasticnerd6076 Have you tried using shea butter or argan butter to seal your hair? That may help to hold the moisture in longer. I've also heard of the L.O.C.O. method. I have never used that method before...but there are videos online of some naturals doing it.
I think you should actually use moisturizing shampoos and do hot oil treatments at least once a month (depending). I also suggest that you deep condition at least twice in a month. I can’t imagine having to moisturize my hair a lot of times. Do you use leave in conditioners?
Hi Shanice. I’m glad that you found my channel 😌. I use three types of Shea butters, so I suggest that you purchase the ANiM brand as it’s available at clicks. I am actually looking for a store that sells raw Shea butter locally so I can support but I’m not finding any 😩. Because mine is sent to me from overseas 😬
I know I'm late, but I've read a few articles that low porosity hair should use the L.C.O. method and high porosity hair should use the L.O.C. method. I also read that low porosity hair can just do the L.C. method. I would like to know which is correct.😵😕
Lol I use all three and I’m 4c low porosity. Firstly, let us calm down and not think about this too much. I know it’s sometimes overwhelming when naturals start using words like porosity. In the winter I used the LCO and in summer LOC and in braids like box braids, I use LC. Here is what I always say, experiment with your hair, see which method it likes and take it from there okay 😊♥️ sending you lots of calm energy lol
Hey Peggy, Iv had them for 4 years now and I think I bought them at either clicks or dischem, if not then probably Jumbo, they normally have everything.
Ive got so many questions lol, but firstly you beautiful and I loved your video. okay I just subscribed today... first question does it matter what type of hair you have when you moisturizing? like if you 4c or b... secondly how do you manage with the shea butter? my becomes rock hard making it impossible to use.. and lastly with the twist after moisturizing on your wash day do you undo them the next time you moisturize? ooh one more thing how often would you advice to was hair in winter?
Hi Sinenhlanhla 😊 You sound so excited lol Thanks for the sub. 1. Yes, it matters but not drastically, specifically within the type 4 hair category. 2. I would suggest whipping it, that will add some air and add some oils. If that’s too much work lol, just melt some in hot water before use. (Place the Shea butter container in hot water, let it sit for 5min, it should start to soften and you should be good) 3. No, I don’t undo them, I moisturize them In twists. 4. I would say once a month. Depending, let’s say you use gels in your hair and you are consistently busy with your hair then I would suggest twice a month. If you are in a low manipulation hairstyle, then 1 month. I will be making a video on how to install, maintain and style mini twists soon.😌 I hope this helped
May you please do a tutorial video on how to do twists😭😭😭😭 I've been struggling with how to do them and the videos I've watched is not beginner friendly 😭😭😭
Thank you 😊, I leave my mini twists in for about 3 weeks and a half or just 3 weeks, wash my hair and retwist. I moisturize every third day sometimes I stretch it to four days 😬🤫depends on the season 🙂 If I don’t refresh them, they tend to lock on the roots a bit and I have a ton of frizz so that could also cause unnecessary tangles 😊
Can you please do a more detailed video on oils and how to use them, I'm just a bit confused seeing that you are using oils that you told us to stay away from in your "oils for low-po hair" video 😢
Since no one is going to say it, you’re so pretty and I love your voice 🥺

Can you do a wash and go. I've seen so many Americans do it, but they seem to have looser curls. I'd love to see how your hair turns out
Lol I’m honestly not a fan of wash and go’s lol because of my hair type but Sillah, rest assured that I’ll build up courage to attempt it on my hair lol
I have 4c low porosity hair too!!!! I just need help with my hair when it comes to growth
Hi, what seems to be the problem, Is your hair stuck?
@@tshidiradebe yeah. It's not growing. It has stuck in one place for a while now. What natural remedies can I use to make it grow and also look and feel moisturized?☺️
Hi! Love your channel was wondering if u can do a video on different styles to do for a twist out😊
Hi Aisha, thank you and I will work on it and post it when ready 😉
Love this video and your energy. Have you shared your night time hair routine?
Hi, Iv shared how I moisturize throughout the week, but I think I’ll record my night routine soon ☺️ ua-cam.com/video/ZvcLDFgBkoY/v-deo.html
Hi Tshidi just come across your chanell few days ago, thanks for sharing. Which shea butter are you using and where did you bought it?
Hey 😌, I use Shea butter from overseas, My uncle sends it to me, I’m trying to find a local supplier here
Wait?! Your intro did you say “how ya fuh do?” or am I crazy? In the US it’s how Gullah Geechee people great each other. We either use fi or fuh
Lol I have no clue what I said but if that’s what you heard, let it be lol 😂
So, on the third day when u moisturize, do u take all of your twists down and start over? Or do you moisturize with your hair still twisted??
I moisturize with my twists in
My new hair best friend. Same hair type as me and I love love this video. Just subscribed and the aloe Vera juice is the best. I make my own from leaf from wholefoods
Thank you Lillian, do you use aloe juice whenever you have to moisturize? Or do you sometimes take a break from it? 😊✨
Tshidi Radebe I take a break but it’s one of two spray bottles in my bathroom. The other is just purified water and a leave in. My hair is thirsty and the aloe helps a lot. Please ignore my profile pic, that’s an old pic
I found my hair buddy. ❤️❤️❤️ new sub
Thank you 😊
Looking forward to the aloe juice diy video. So excited to follow someone local💃
Thank You 😊
Hi Kirsten. I will incorporate your request in my next wash day routine video 😌.
My hair is low porosity 4c and u said nowdays your hair is too thick yet you are also low porosity. Would you please tell me the secret you used?? My hair is too thin and small on my head. Thanks
I feel seen. I'm subscribing!
Thank you Nomonde, I am really happy that you subscribed 😊
Thanks for the educative video
I have exactly the type if your hair
How do you keep your hair moisturized continuously because after washing and doing the LOC method my hair will be moisturied for few days and then it goes back to been dry.
How did you make the aloe vera juice?
Thank you.
Hi Aderoju, it’s my pleasure...
here are two video links of how I moisturize midweek and how I make the aloe juice

@@tshidiradebe Thank you
Nice video, what on the budget leave-in conditioners do you suggest for low porosity hair? What are the necessary must-haves?
If you are in South Africa, Afrosense leave in conditioner, Afrobotanics deep conditioner or the dark and lovely, Organics shampoo, Iv reviewed all brands on my channel and then your favorite oils and a light weight cream and you should be good to go 😊
@@tshidiradebe thank you but i am not in South Africa
Hey babe, I love the video😍😍 but I saw you didn’t mention a leave in conditioner. What do you use for leave in conditioner?
Oh I’m sorry Kamo, I use the Cantu repair leave in conditioner 😌
Hi Tshidi, did you use the heat activator masque instead of a leave in conditioner? ... thanks for the video gal, very informative
Hey Tshepiso, I used the heat activator masque then used a leave in. I’m sorry for not showing the leave in part💀. My hair can’t live without it ☺️
Tshidi Radebe ke ya leboha, thanks gal.
It’s my pleasure 😊
Your voice is the best!!!
Thank you Florence ♥️
Nice hair gal and very informative video...how often should l do this? Like weekly or wat
Hi Michelle. Only you can answer that, based on a lot of factors such as environment, hair type etc....I would say moisturize your hair when it feels dry. Maybe after 3 days, learn to listen to your hair, monitor it and moisturize when necessary
@@tshidiradebe thank you very much ❤️
Nice and informative. How often should one moisturize low porosity hair?
Hi Fay, it depends on a lot of things but I would say 3 times a week should suffice
i love your videos! shea butter was a huge help to my hair and I think I'm going to start doing twist again to help me retain moisture and length!! you're doing great!!
p.s.- can you do a video about scalp treatment and how to refresh your twists (not refreshing is my downfall)
I love your voice omg !
Thank you 😊... I’m a bit insecure about it, I’m learning to love it..
Hey, im new on your channel and im already loving it ! Can you please tell me the best shampoos and conditioners for low porosity hair ?
It’s my pleasure sweets, I’m try some international brands this year and see if I like any of them 😉
I would like to know the exact products that you use and how much of it when mixing it
Because this video was taken two years ago, I think it’s best to give you my recent routine
Pre poo- Hot oil treatment or flex seed with coconut oil
Shampoo- I use two shampoos, one to clarify & a moisturizing shampoo
Deep condition with a hooded dryer, using heat helps
Then I moisturize using Shea butter, oil and leave in conditioner
Beautiful voice, very captivating 😘
Thank you
My mom's name is Tshidi and her maiden name is Radebe. Thanks for the video
Lol I hope to carry both names with pride and not let any “Tshidis’ down lol. It’s my pleasure 😊
I use and prefer Shea butter to seal in. Lol I also prefer the LOC and LCO method I haven’t tried the one you mentioned, but I’m open to it
I think you should actually use moisturizing shampoos and do hot oil treatments at least once a month (depending). I also suggest that you deep condition at least twice in a month.
I can’t imagine having to moisturize my hair a lot of times. Do you use leave in conditioners?
Finally a natural hairtuber i can relate to😭😭 where did you get your shea butter from??
@@tshidiradebe check @uzuri_range on IG
I like it that your real and natural, but my question is, (how long do you have to wait to shampoo after moisturising
Hey Nabbosa, I suggest you wash your hair when it’s dirty. You can wash your hair twice a month if not at least once a month.
Excellent detailed tutorial. Thank u!!
Thank you Karen 😊
Thank you my beautiful sister. May the Lord bless you and your family and y'all stay blessed and healthy 🙏😇💕
Hey Tshidi I struggle to find sectioning clips. I bought sorbet clips at clicks and they keep breaking. Where do you buy yours???
Hey Peggy, Iv had them for 4 years now and I think I bought them at either clicks or dischem, if not then probably Jumbo, they normally have everything.
@@tshidiradebe Thank you for getting back to me. Will check at dischem. We do not have Jumbo where I live😥
It’s my pleasure... awww that really sucks... I’ll keep a look out for you hey...😊
8:12 good tip!!
Hi Sinenhlanhla 😊 You sound so excited lol
Thanks for the sub.
1. Yes, it matters but not drastically, specifically within the type 4 hair category.
2. I would suggest whipping it, that will add some air and add some oils. If that’s too much work lol, just melt some in hot water before use. (Place the Shea butter container in hot water, let it sit for 5min, it should start to soften and you should be good)
3. No, I don’t undo them, I moisturize them In twists.
4. I would say once a month. Depending, let’s say you use gels in your hair and you are consistently busy with your hair then I would suggest twice a month.
If you are in a low manipulation hairstyle, then 1 month.
I will be making a video on how to install, maintain and style mini twists soon.😌
I hope this helped
@@tshidiradebe thank you so much 😁
May you please do a tutorial video on how to do twists😭😭😭😭 I've been struggling with how to do them and the videos I've watched is not beginner friendly 😭😭😭
I think I showed it in this video, how to twist or did I not 😬, okay, I’ll try to do one if I didn’t do so already... 😊
@@tshidiradebe I don't mean to be a burden or inconvenience you but you hands move so quickly in that video 😭😭😭
Lol it’s okay, I’ll record another one lol 😂
You’re so beautiful! I have a question how many times do you moisture it and how long do leave in your protective hairstyle?
Thank you 😊, I leave my mini twists in for about 3 weeks and a half or just 3 weeks, wash my hair and retwist. I moisturize every third day sometimes I stretch it to four days 😬🤫depends on the season 🙂
If I don’t refresh them, they tend to lock on the roots a bit and I have a ton of frizz so that could also cause unnecessary tangles 😊
You have beautiful hair !❤️
Thank you so much 😊
Can you please do a more detailed video on oils and how to use them, I'm just a bit confused seeing that you are using oils that you told us to stay away from in your "oils for low-po hair" video 😢
I will definitely do an updated video because this video was shot almost two years ago. Please expect an updated oil video soon soon 😉
