I have also a V6, but after a few seconds the motor stops,, When i charge the battery, the motor runs again for a few seconds Is it possible that the battery is no more rechargable?
@@knutselaar0 I just got a second hand v6 Total Clean, and I wanted to test the battery life, and had it on MAX by mistake. It lasted about 15 seconds. Then put a motorised head on and it lasted a couple of minutes before I stopped testing it so I could fully charge it up again and do another test on normal speed. I found a troubleshooting place for Dyson and a few people were having success apparently by doing this process. 1) Take hoover out of Dock/Charger 2) Turn off and Unplug Charger 3) Plug Charger back in, turn on 4) Put hover back on Dock/Charger 5) Hold trigger for 20 seconds Nothing will seem to happen. But anyway, when I did a test on normal, after it had fully charged, it lasted 16 minutes. Dunno if that trick did anything, or what. Worth a try though if it's not blatantly obvious the battery is just past it.
Thank you for the fluffy head instructions! I couldn't find any other YT videos showing you need to twist the side panel upwards to remove it and I didn't want to force any parts. I have newer Dyson vacuums but this was my original one and now it breathes new life working like new. Thank you sir!
Thank you for making this video!! Our V6 was pulsating, I completely disassembled it using your video, cleared 2 clogs (one was inside that vertical filter bag! I never would have guessed to take that apart and look there!) and now the machine runs like new! So happy!
Exactly what I needed. Our vacuum would turn off after about 30 seconds when in Max mode. Replaced the battery and bought a couple of the long cloth filters. Seemed to help for a while but the problem returned. Had disassembled ours a couple of times but got stuck after getting so far. Your instructions on how to unsnap the clips holding the filter basket and the handle got me to the finish line. As many others have commented, I couldn't believe how much fine dust was packed in the various nooks and crannies. One thing that surprised me though was that the filters inside the handle on the back of the motor had no dust at all. Thanks !!!
Sawickipedia....well today I have the cleanest V6 Downunder, at the moment it's air-drying for a day or so, as I washed the fluffy rollers as well. Couldn't believe how much dust and fluff was inside those tiny gaps. Thanks again for your video, it really helped.
This video helped me sort out our pulsing motor problem. Also a piece of plastic broke off that the screw holding the battery into the handle screws into. Managed to get the handle apart and glue the plastic piece back in place, and gave the insides a good clean at the same time. It now works again properly (no more telling the other half I can't do the vacuuming as it isn't working now though).
Very impressed by your informative video. Straight to the point with no extra jabber, that a lot of others do, which is so unnecessary and bores me. THANK YOU. Nice One
Mate thanks for this video! My Dyson V6 developed the pulsating problem, and just wasn't usable. I was on the verge of disposing of it and buying something new from any manufacturer other than Dyson.. I watched this and cleaned my V6 as per your instructions, put it all back together and..... It runs like new!! This is for anyone experiencing the pulsating problem that plagues probably all Dyson stick vaccuums. Do this instead of throwing it away!
Thank you for sharing such simple instructions for each step. Also I LOVE that you don’t start with “Hey, what’s up guys!” “Whasupp dudes” Subscribed ✅
Great instructional video. Well paced and easy to follow. I just bought a second hand V6 as spares or repair as it pulsed. I assumed as with most dysons that it just needed a good clean. It was caked on and the filter was full of hair and dust. No amount of rinsing would have got that out.
I've done this a few times (each time following your excellent video) but this time I really wanted to get the back of the motor / handle off to clean the filter. Took FOREVER using credits cards and the plastic things. Eventually the credit cards got the glue detached and voila! LOADS of dust on the circuit board so pleased I got that off. Now waiting for everything to dry . . . . . . .
Thanks for assisting me take my dyson apart to clean and make it work properly again, however I had to replay to find how to reassemble.... having omitted twice parts I should have screwed back together having to unscrew twice, but got there in the end, thanks so much.
Very helpful, thank you. Could not believe how much fine dust was caught up in there, lots of places for it to collect! With 2 dogs and a cat in the house, my machine really needed a thorough cleaning - I'm sure it will smell much better when I get it back together (waiting for everything to dry really well).
Excellent tutorial! The missus vacuumed up some buttered rice and it created a very nasty smell after a couple of days. Took me a while, but I got it all disassembled and cleaned and reassembled. Works great! Saved myself a repair or replace bill. Thanks, Sawickipedia!
Time to dismantle: 15-20 mins. Time to watch video backwards and reassemble: 4-5 days. This time I took photos of where one part goes (more a reminder to push it in firmly) as it catches me out every time. Please don't ever remove this video ... I use it every time 😀
Thank you! My V6 Absolute fluffy head clear front cover has something stuck on the inside and looks terrible. Must have sucked up something wet/damp and the machine was put away and allowed whatever it was to dry in situ. Turned that slotted plastic cam and saw the arrow printed on the side but missed how they worked in unison, but thanks to your detailed video it will be just like a new one, really soon. A good lockdown job! ;-)
Found out that there is no replacement for the old sponge filter. Instead, you can replace it with one of these: Motor Rear Cover Rear Filter Kit For Dyson V6/DC58/DC59/DC61 Vacuum Cleaner 1Set
Excellent video!! Thank you. To add you could just comment on main housing assembly how much to tighten screws. I was told by my husband to tighten to slightly firm then 1/8 turn more max. Hope that’s correct ( He’s a mech tech). From Jen Canada.
Very Helpful to follow to take apart. Now that every thing is drying… I will need help putting back together! I couldnt get to the filter on the base once i detached it from the roller head. It was really stubborn and I didnt want to break the plastic. Any thoughts. This Dyson I was cleaning was beyond dirty and full of caked on dirt for years. Any further help would be great. I guess I can watch again and figure it out!
Hmm, I posted a follow up/easier to follow video on the channel about a year ago. Maybe check out that video, I may have done it a slightly different way
Great video. I have taken mine all the way down, gotten a new battery, and all I'm getting is a quick spin of the impeller when I pull the trigger. Sometimes 1/2 second. Sometimes less than. Any ideas?
After a brief vacuum session today, my Dyson V6 wouldn’t turn off when I released the trigger. It just kept running. I had to cover-over the suction opening to get the motor to stop. Since the round blue light continued blinking, I began the cleaning and battery removal process. After troubleshooting I found that whenever contact is made with the battery leads, the motor will still run on, even though the unit is stripped-down. I was wondering if there could be an issue with the circuit board… Any thoughts?
Sounds like the switch in the trigger is constantly making contact. Could be tricky to get to, I don't think I've ever pulled one apart that far. Maybe you could try spraying contact cleaner in the gap between the trigger and handle (with the battery removed) and then pull the trigger a dozen times, stick the battery back in and see if that fixes it
Thank u for demonstrating how damages may occur.. Some vids are just brutal in disassembly.. Maybe housos. Who knows.. I'd reallt like to see one video that's actually dirty and cleaned without movie magic though..
the battery on my V6 which we got about 3 years does not last more than 30 seconds anymore. Would that have anything to do with the rear filter on the handle being clogged or something? or is it ok for the battery to be basically dead after 3 years or so? Just wondering before taking that part apart, everything else is clean. Also they don't sell the battery anymore. Dyson has been out of stock on that bettery for months now, however they do have batteries in stock for their more recent models. Guess they want people like me just to buy a new vacuum over a dead battery, that really bothers me
I cannot get the vortex assembly seperated from the motor housing. It has about 1/8" gap where the white clips are but makes no attempt what so ever in coming loose at the top side. I used some nylon pry tools and it didnt help. I wouldnt worry about it if it werent so nasty up in there. I found this unit under a house burried in dirt and mud. I brought it back from the dead but its filthy. Im afraid im going to break the thing. Ive watched several videos with people popping them off but im a big guy and it aint poppin.
I assume you mean the bottom part of the bin that opens up to empty it. It should just clip back into place with the two clips on either side. Just keep it at a 90 degree angle (like it would be when you are emptying it) and be careful not to break the clips when you put it back on
Thank you! I wonder if the trigger itself can be disassembled? Bought a V6 second hand with hidden stench that is unbearable. Cleaned all the parts but it is trapped in the trigger. Did you ever get that far. It works great but I need a mask to use it!
Sounds nasty. I haven't disassembled the trigger before, guess I never had a reason to. It would surely be possible, once you have the rear cover removed you're almost there, probably just a couple more clips or screws to go. Good luck
I have a Dsyon V6 Absolute and it wont turn on anymore. The red lights flash ten times and stop. Dyson says it needs repair or a new whole assembly with the motor. Pretty expensive. Have you ever ran into this issue? Thank you.
Thank you & Great video! It was very thorough. Also, from what I can tell it looks like you have a pretty neat workbench setup in your garage. Have you done a video tour of it?
I actually stopped filming in the garage as it's not the best place to film stuff. If you look at the new Dyson repair video on this channel you can see what the current location looks like
Thanks, I’ll check that out. I can see it could be tricky to get the proper lighting and space in garage. I’m looking for garage setup inspiration because I’m in the middle of clearing out and reorganizing and would like to create a little area for my workbench and tools. That’s why I asked if you had other shots of your workspace because it looked very organized.
Great video. I actually need to remove the grey ‘snout’ from the front of the canister as I need to change out the contacts for the motor drive on the head. Any chance of a clue on ho to do this? I’ve removed the small Torx screw from its throat but it’s still tightly fixed on.
14:31 See that little black plastic ring/clip thing on the motor?.. How important do you think that is?.. I just got one of these heads second hand and that clip on mine is white and has split... I'm wondering if I can just put a bit of tape on it and it'll be fine?.. I'm planning on selling it.
is it possible to take off the back motor cover from v6 absolute (not just the filter) and fit it on the v6 and then attach the hepa filter ??? I couldn't find it anywhere on UA-cam ,would be interesting V6 upgrade for those who own only the standard or animal version without HEPA .
You can avoid all of this IF you have an air compressor. Just remove the collection can and the filter and blast away , alternating from one end to the other . it will take about one minute or so . i e been doing this for years with my dyson with no ill effects.
The dense foam filter in the battery pack was kinda destroyed when i pulled it out. Any idea where I can get another foam filter piece? Or think I’ll be fine without it? Will any foam work?
awesome thank you for sharing, do you think it's possible to mount a hepa filter attachment onto the first V6 you disassembled? The one that only had the foam filters in the back? Or are the units not compatible?
Not possible, you'd be better off finding a dead V6 absolute and either cannibalising it for parts or fix it up yourself. There should be enough info in this video to do either.
Thanks for the video, i needed it. I have had a a V6 absolute, sister bought an el cheapo chinesium cordless around the same time and it just has one massive hepa tube filter inside the dust bin basket.. and blows straight out after, rather than the Dyson labyrinth. Guess which one hasn't gained a stink and lost roughly 20% of its power over 2 years? Looks like this sunday arvo will be at the workbench.

I have also a V6, but after a few seconds the motor stops,, When i charge the battery, the motor runs again for a few seconds
Is it possible that the battery is no more rechargable?
From what you are describing, it does sound like a bad battery. You can get a replacement battery pack on ebay
@@knutselaar0 I just got a second hand v6 Total Clean, and I wanted to test the battery life, and had it on MAX by mistake. It lasted about 15 seconds. is it necessary to do this DEEP CLEAN? because in the owners manual it only shows does the basic.
My Dyson DC74 has a problematic trigger which operates intermittently. Can i buy a spare part and serviced it myself or must it be done by Dyson?
Excellent video! I accidentally removed the clear been covered any ideas on how to put it back in place it’s not broken.
