Yes mate the 410 is used a lot here in Australia for the stopping of snakes extra,we usually give the 410 rifle to our women in the country or on the farms, still need your lenience though, yes popular with the women, easy to handle, Cheers mate, regards Trevor.W.Bacelli. Biloela Qld Australia
I hear a lot of people talking about those little shells but a bad guy wouldn't like any of those to the face. I love my little public defender poly, I wanted to get the raging judge for the 454 but after shooting some different 45lc rounds from underwood I don't even wanna imagine the kick from a 454🤣🤣
If you factor out the central hit of the .410, then yes. They were equal. That central hit tells the story, though. For me though, the question IMMEDIATELY hit me... If you came up on your chicken coop and found a large northeastern coyote in your pen and killing birds, or real big boar coon near your dumpster, and either one of them were at 5-8 paces, would the .45 LC rat-shot put either of them down? Would I feel good about the chances of that? If you had a chance to put them down further on out, would the lessened damage done from increased distance be significant? Would the spread of the shot just make it angry? But with the .410, I feel like if you aimed at the nose, you'd take off the top of its head. The other thing is, I feel like the ratshot is a gimmick. I'd never carry it or use it anyway. I carry what I carry for edc. If I can't shoot it with that, I don't think anything else would be deemed safe. So again, what's the point? With the .410, I feel like you could use that for squirrel at distance. The .45 lc you have zero expectation.
The .45 colt shotshell for people with .45 colt only revolvers is pretty comparable and you don't have to have a Taurus or S&W in a longer chamber just to carry snake loads. I pack a Ruger Vaquero birdhead grip for my snake gun with these CCI shotshells, hasn't let me down yet.
Thanks for sharing. My first personal firearm was a .410 shotgun that I got for my 12th birthday in the mid-1950s. It constantly amazed me at how effective shots from that gun were. Matter of fact, I still have that .410 bolt action shotgun. I took mostly crows and squirrels with it but got a few varmint critters as well, specifically a gray fox.
When I was a kid my daddy bought me a beautiful 410 pump and when he passed I moved with my older brother and my aunt told me to leave gun with them so my brother wouldn't sale it and after 5 year I came back for my 410 and 22 and they ended up selling it. It absolutely breaks my heart every time I think about it.
As much as I can fall out with my brothers and sisters, we are all pretty good with each other. Some people have God awful family. Cheating your brothers son out of an heirloom is beyond contempt!
@@Cartier_specialist I was very ill from 2006 to 2010 and I spent an awful lot of time in hospital. There was a young guy who I met who had been really messed up as a baby by the NHS. As a result he got a very large payot to help his future needs. As he spent an awful lot of time in hospital his mother was a co signatury to his bank account. Well his mother met some guy and cleared his bank account out. His own mother, how do you face your mum doing that to you?
I love my 410 pump shotgun, it's such a blast to shoot. I punched holes clean through some soup cans at 40 yards with some 2.5" slugs. The main issue with 410 right now is ammo availability. I paid way too much to get those slugs, but I don't regret it since fun was had and many cans died. 😎
Coroner after a home invasion: Looking at head wound from .45: "Looks like we'll have to use dental records to ID this fella" Looking at other creep shot from .410: "Dental records aren't going to do us much good with this guy. I can't find the mouth!"
You nailing the Halo Theme by itself got my Sub. Very rare to see a Man's man in the field and have that attribute also. Of course, the channel is great and very informative keep it going.
Awesome video, that’s definitely Big Medicine for Ole No Shoulders 🐍. I’d like to see how well that Gun would work with 3” Buckshot loads for personal defense.
Snakes cannot strike at a distance greater than one-half the length of their bodies. More trivia: the formula for determining how many bee stings can be fatal (without allergies) is body weight in kg times 2.8 divided by .059. For a 180-pound (81.647 kg) person it would take 3,874 bee stings to deliver a fatal dose of venom.
Only problem i have with this is i dont have a handgun that'll chamber 410. I do have about 50 of the 45 colt shot shells loaded. Years ago i bought some of the ready made ones in 45 acp, Shot 1, seems like they didn't cycle or something, it did something i didnt like, I still have them but will probably never use them. Digging the clay blocks.
.410 gonna win. Has more bbs. Powder charge probably pretty close. Long gun the .410 would definitely out preform. Both out of the judge? Yeah gotta go with .410. Great idea. Can't wait.👍👍
You would definitely get a bit more boogie with the 410 but I don't own one I have a 45 colt I think it's close enough that if it's all you have like me it'd be plenty enough for snakes and small pests I've shot dozens of mice with the 22lr and the nice part about them is they don't put giant holes in your barn lol
If you have clay soil on your property you can make your own. Just mix it in a slurry in a drum then pour the water off leaving the heavy sediment. Let it sit till the water is clear then pour that off. Do that three or four times and you basically have pure clay with no impurities at the end, and its free.
Well not totally fair comparison the 45 colt was loaded with 1/3 oz. #9 shot the 410 1/2oz. #7 1/2 shot. I know the 410 is naturally going to have a higher weight, but I would have like to seen the 410 with #9 shot. But I do understand that you had to use what you had on hand. But down the road it would be nice to see a comparison with the same size shot.
There was a little channel or whatever you call it on the top of the block from the 45 colt. It almost went all the way thru, would still prefer the 410. Would keep that revolver beside my bed loaded with 410 buckshot and maybe one or two slugs. 👍 for this one.
I actually just bought some 410 at walmart yesterday, also picked up buckshot and pdx in a gun store about a month or two ago, haven't bought/seen slugs in over a year though lol
My Walmart has stopped selling ammo. They stopped in December. I go to a fin and feather now. If you go first thing in the morning there is always plenty of ammo though they restrict how many boxes you can buy. If you call ahead though they will set it aside.
I think the .410 is under looked.. I find tons of .410 for 11.49 to 16.99 all the time 6 shot to 7 1/2.. currently sitting on 5 boxes for dove, squirrel, and rabbit season.
Great comparison was hoping to see this. Both will work well on snakes 🐍 or rats 🐀 in the barns. Dad had a judge but sold it he'd did like it munch . Pit to me has it place. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
About 50% more weight, .410 has 1/2 oz. in a 2 1/2" shell. .45LC has 1/3 oz., but pellet count will depend on shot size. The .45 shows #9 shot and should have about 195 pellets. If the .410 used #9 it would have more, but if it was 8, 7 1/2, or 6, it would have about 205, 175, 112 respectively, but those bigger pellets would hit harder per pellet at same speed as some from both failed to hit the target.
@@williamgaines9784 either one would do the job from that distance, he compared the 45 and 22 bird shot a couple days ago and the 45 made a lot bigger mess of the block, then
My 454 has a 9.5 in. barrel so if the shot doesn't kill it I'll just beat it to death while it's still confused. Some how that pistol looks more proportional that the judges I've seen in the past. Good lookin gun.
Found .410#8 shot couple of weeks back $12.85 box of 25 so I got 4 boxes. They work fair in my Bond Arms, but don't pattern test against plywood at 10ft. My old dumb ass got peppered. By the way at 10ft. through 3'' barrel it's about a 3 1/2ft. pattern.
How is the 410 recoil on that handgun ? Can it shoot 410 slugs out of it to ? Is it a twised barrel or is it a smooth barrel ? If I lived or hunted in Florida everglade python or any poisnois snake areas, think this would be the handgun I would be carrying.
45 colt shot is great to carry in your SA colt replica or Judge for snake, but try some Federal .410 gold #4 or slugs, that will kick like a mule and very deadly (compare to .44 magnum).
The 45 wiped the smile off his face. The 410 wiped the face off his smile.
The notes you hit showing the Taurus were pretty spot on.
8888. 7 ic
Wish you would have done one with a 410 slug 😆
Wish you would have showed the back side of the 410 block to prove whether or not it penetrated all the way through or not.

Hi there. Nice to see an Australian using firearms! I would love to visit there . such unique wildlife

I have had a judge for years. I love it. Great snake gun.

410 can take deer. And can take ducks and geese all day long. It would be a really good survival gun.
Alot of boogie on that 410 !!
CCI makes Big 4 shotshells for 45 Colt. It's impossible too find, but it's better than the rugular shotshells.

You should throw some of these blocks in a kiln after you shoot them. It would make some pretty cool artwork.

My Judge with 3” .410 shells is my snake gun of choice here in Az. It will cut right through the heavy brush on the property.
The .45 snake shot is for people that don't have a .410 shotgun or revolver that fires both!
I cut .410 hulls down to .45 colt length and load em with various projectiles to shoot in a .45 colt revolver
A fun video and the Judge is a fun revolver
Thanks for watching Brent
The 45 colt is more for small pest control around the house and barn which usually won't over penetrate and destroy your property walls, doors etc..

The .45 Colt will do the job, .410 will do it better.
Than it is matter of what is availeble, and the prize, etc.
