Matt, well done! You have now got yourself a really great trailer for your business and it will help you immensely. Maximum labour and more importantly back saving features. Maximum safety features to get your job done smoothly and quickly without any hassles. People in the know can tell when someone is doing things the right and professional way. It is also remarkably easy to spot dodgy operators and they are the ones that either have accidents or get pulled over and booked. You have every right to be really pleased with your new self built trailer. Just keep it well locked up and even weld your initials and license number on the drawbar. I have welded the school's initials on numerous trailers after several went missing. It may also pay to fit some of those tracking devices to both the truck and trailer. Get a comparison valuation from a couple of trailer makers for insurance valuation purposes.
Building your own projects has so much satisfaction as you go, as well as the complete results when you are completed. And like you say, it's done RIGHT instead of trusting some other manufacturer. Good job!
Don't be surprised at yourself Matthew, just look at YOURSELF... Your reflections about how surprised and proud you were at your ability to build this beautiful custom trailer has to go back again to the custom bandsaw mill and your beautiful pieces of furniture. The secretary, the highboy were both very ambitious highly advanced first time woodworking projects for a beginner. Yet you knew that if you thought each skill through; each meticulous step planned and practiced, the attention to detail, it would add up to the hoped for finished family heirloom. And it was! The bandsaw mill was just another extension of that philosophy so why not the trailer build? Its who you are and how you approach something you've not done before. Planning and details. Congratulations for another project well done! And stop being surprised, we aren't 😉
I've only ever bought 1 trailer in my lifetime...it was junk, sold it a year later. Of the other 4 trailers I've built, 3 of them are still with me(sold the first one years ago) 10 years later. Two of those are all aluminum ramp-door snowmobile trailers with compound angle/radii roofs(for strength and wind efficiency). Everyone told me it would take too long(pansies), or not work. These trailers are the best handling and most wind stable units I've ever towed...and all the nay-sayers actually agreed with me in the end. The best product you ever buy will be your own satisfaction from doing the job no one believed could be done...by yourself! Why?... NO COMPROMISES Good job Matt. I love it when a plan comes together!
Nice job all the way around! People that never built anything themselves, don't know the satisfaction that you get when you see your project completed! Thanks for sharing and keep up your great videos!
Four things are important: you did it with your own hands and mind, the equipment perfekt work, you saved a lot of money, most importantly: you have satisfaction that no one can take away from you! I sincerely admire.
Found your channel while searching for trailer builds just this week, I went back to the beginning of your build and watched every one of the videos, these past two or three days, knowing the trailer was finished made getting to the last video that much more enjoyable. Excellent build on the trailer, really appreciate the extra time and energy you spent engineering all the extras into the build, such as the electrical junction blocks, how the light pods attach with bolts and not just welded in place, that alone will make it easier to replace a pod or lights/wiring in the future, and the attention to detail on the front jack and rear jack stabilizer is way above most trailer builders. At first I wondered why you went through the trouble of welding a backing plate to the jacks which added extra weight, now seeing how easily it is to remove a jack stabilizer the build up really comes in to focus. Great job on the video editing also, time well spent portraying your build. You should be very proud of the build, it’s what you wanted, it’s what you needed and it’s what you got using your own two hands and mind. Looking forward to future videos, will most likely go back and watch your previous one also, Looks like you gained another subscriber. Way to go.
Matt, you’re like me I never had. Was. Am. The fact that you fell trees yourself; haul them on a trailer you designed and built yourself; slab them up on a bandsaw mill you designed and built yourself; dry them in your own back yard; then build fine quality hand-crafted furniture you design yourself out of the wood you harvested and milled, in your own shop, is nothing short of the me I utterly wish I was. Thanks for doing what you do; sharing all you share; and being, vicariously, the me I aim to, but likely never will be.
Congratulations on a job very well done. As you are already learning, there is so much more to life than just going for the lowest price or having someone else build things for you. The pride and learning that goes into a project like this is really special and life altering. Watching this series is the closest to binging You-Tube I've every done. If I had any room for metal working tools in my garage, I'd be starting a small trailer project pronto.
I can't believe the registration cost!! That's ridiculous! My trailer was less about 80 new and the renewal every year has been around 12. I tore up the license plate so bad this year I got a new one and it was 35. Your fees were on par with an entirely new car! In other news, thanks for taking the time to record and post this build. I learned a lot and you gained another follower. I like your way of doing things and appreciate your skills and humor. One of the biggest things that sticks out to me on your build over having someone build it for you is the wiring job. Had you had it built, you'd have the typical cheap job of wire strung here and there with all the crappy splice connectors for the brakes. I look forward to looking through your other videos and what you do in the future. Thanks Matt.
Congrats Mat, even here in South Africa we are proud of you! America - what a contry! Cremona is noted as a place in Northern Italy for making superior violins (stringed instruments). Wood....? You are worthy of such a name, and now trailers are also in your blood.
Beautiful trailer! No one builds them this nice, the wiring jobs are scabby at best, scotch locks everywhere, and lousy welds, and thin materials. You built it right! Love the junction boxes, and how you wired the brakes separately on eyelet loops. I rebuilt my 99 trailer before I sold it and I did the same thing as you on the breakaway! Wired the black and blue backwards . Being you have a lot more tow vehicle ,I’m betting you can carry a 10k log easily 8600 on the axles, and 1400 on the hitch . In wouldnt do that with a single wheel truck but yours is a beast. Congratulations!
I'm just watching the videos of this, and didn't touch a single piece of it, and I'm happy and excited for you. Great job and hopefully it serves you for many years to come.
That is one beautifully built trailer. Great job, Matt. As a former 18 Wheeler trucker, I completely understand the axle location. Also, getting you CDL isn't that hard, you just need access to a rig that tops/fits the type of CDL you want to get. So that you can test in a liscense specific vehicle class. Check your local, states' and federal requirements if you plan to drive a commercial load out of state. Yup, looks like it was towing straight from the drone footage. Also, the christening dent showed well on the drone decent when you got back home with the trailer. Plus, the money spent on that trailer is cheaper than it would cost to buy a similar class production built trailer in my area. So good job there as well.
Congratulations Mr Matt, I just have one thing to say, it should be illegal how much fun you have. I am truly happy for you, after completing your bandsaw I knew that the trailer would just be dirty little fun having. I can't wait for the next woodworking show to discuss some of your ideas.
Damn right you should be proud of that build. You knew what you wanted in a trailer having spent hours with your previous one. The upgrades and entire build were well thought out and the fact that it pulled wonderfully under a heavy load confirms your build specs. Not to mention your care and skill. Well Done!
Well done Mr Cremona, and thanks for spending all the time you that have documenting every aspect of this spectacular build, it has been a pleasure to follow the long(!) process, and I have learned a huge amount from you. Not only have you made a superb Urban Logging trailer, but you have spent endless hours shooting footage, and many hours editing and constructing a long series of comprehensive instructional videos. That on it's own is a huge and very successful feat. Many, many thanks :)
As a retired welder mechanic I must say that you done an awesome job and that it very well thought out. That's the benefits of building something that you are going to use.
“Can you see I’m happy .... “, well the smile from ear to ear is a dead giveaway 😎. And you should be happy, what a great job! And your question on should you create yourself YES! YES! And then seeing your wife being happy as well,... super team great job!
Congrats Matt. I'm as happy for you as you are I think. It was a long process but you put your heart into it and the product shows. You'll be able to pass it on to your kids one day.
In the future keep in mind the danger of cable failure and getting injured or killed cause I was watching you and the rest of the guys when the log was getting loaded. Love your videos
WOW! I followed this whole series and am impressed with all of the little details you made sure to do correctly. Right down to the wiring. Most people do not understand how heavy those logs can be and you have made easy work of retrieving them. Great job.
Utterly and totally agree; Do not waste a bottle of Cava or Champagne by breaking it on the trailer! Spray it with the sweeter Prosecco and save the chilled Champagne!! Cheers 🥂. Excellent video series. ( My wife is terrified of the cork “pop” too. Loves Champagne too though! )
Congratulations Matt! I am so impressed that you just go for it, and are not intimidated by large projects. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time...
Matt - I have been catching up on some of your earlier videos. I just finished the build series for your trailer. You deserve Dto be proud and happy. You built that - AWESOME!!!
A lot of coments about the trailer. "All Good" So I won’t add too what has already been said. I'll just say what great person you are. If you were my son, I would be beaming from ear to ear with pride. GREAT JOB BY A GREAT YOUNG MAN!
Hey Matt, from someone who values and wishes I had the patience or drive to spend that amount of time on a personal project (yet business related one as well), I salute you, brother. It is a BEAUTY and a productive milestone and I just want to congratulate you. I randomly came across your video and was enthralled to just watch it all. A delight on my end. This has been so much fun to follow. Thanks for bringing us along on the journey and thanks for sharing all the details along the way.
WOW! WELL DONE. Matt, you are one very talented and resourceful man. Congratulations, and I expect you'll get a decent price when you sell the original trailer which has plenty of life span left. You're also to be commended on sharing all your costs and explaining the intricacies of getting a title and the registration. Very helpful to your viewers. Just an overall great effort-as are all your projects.
Congrats on crossing the finish line. As I have told you before, your attention to detail when explaining everything is awesome. I doubt that will ever change but I absolutely appreciate your providing a breakdown Job Well Done!
You done a bang up job on building the little red carry all . Fantastic JOB , looks good going down the road FOLLOWING along like a PUPPY DOG . 👍 ✌ LOOKING GOOD BRO
I dug a ditch, put drain tile in and now have a good drain system on one of my downspouts. I too and happy with a sense of accomplishment. It's good to create things and work with your hands. Well done Matt.
Matt, the series was awesome there is no greater feeling when we challenge ourselves and it turns out as planned Thank you, my friend, Happy Woodworking
Can confirm: I'm shocked it's under a ton and a half. That thing's beefy as hell! ETA: also, congratulations, this was legitimately impressive. I'm really looking forward to seeing you reap the bounty of all that hard work.
I’ve watched probably most of your trailer videos, and I’m very impressed with your diligence and professionalism throughout the project. I know the special feeling of having designed and built my own stuff both large and small. Thanks for taking the time and going to the extra effort of sharing it all with us!
For comparison sake ... I just bought a new Homesteader 712CT ( 7000# GVWR, 5400# cargo capacity) cargo trailer ... $5400.00 ... and if Matt backed up with his trailer and hit this one, he'd never know and I'd have a crushed soda can on wheels ... but the weights tell the story. Matt, my hat's off you young man, Well Done!
Fantastic build Matt....You have a great vision of hows things need to be done, regardless of whether you've done them before......Loved watching the process.....incredible! Thanks.
It was great watching the journey. Thanks for bringing us along. For a first time you really seemed to know what you're doing and, from what I hear, that's half the battle.
Man, good job!!!! Super proud of you for doing this, I've been looking forward to watching the next "episode" every night after work. Was a thrilling adventure watching all the different steps into making the trailer. Absolutely good job my man. I can tell you are so proud of yourself and you should be. You inspire me, absolutely. Take care and be safe out there bud!
Matt that is such an impressive build. I'm sure you will get a lifetime of use out of that trailer, and the things you have learned along the way are a huge bonus. BTW your lovely wife's reaction when the cork popped made me chuckle that was great. Onward and upward young man! Cheers from Tokyo! Stu
I could see how beautifully the trailer pulled from the drone shots. No wandering whatsoever, solidly behind the truck. Also, you can usually take your trailers to grain elevators if you don't have a truck scale nearby. It's what I would do to weigh the race cars when I was still racing. Even some scrap yards will let you.
Yes, we can tell you’re happy! We’re happy for you too! Thank you for taking us on this build. On my bucket list is to build a teardrop trailer and I want to build the frame myself. Videos like these make it doable.
Thanks Matt, I’ve been watching your videos and got the courage to build mine. I’m just about done, just need decking and lights. I really enjoyed the process you shared.

I said this before...no one could look going down the road and know this came from a back yard build...great job MATT...
Well said and a good point. That thing looks more professional than many "professional" trailers do !
@@JohnSmith-ud9ex it honestly puts my trailers to shame. They were professional built. Sure ny gooseneck will be the same in a year or 2.

Congratulations! We've enjoyed the build with you!
Thanks!
Congratulations on the finished trailer, Matt. I loved the Matt Cemona christening. Best wishes. Bill
Outstanding build. You have every right to be proud. You have such a magnificent attention to detail in all you do. Very inspirational.
Thank you!
Good morning from Yukon, Oklahoma. That’s one fantastic looking trailer. Fantastic job. Have a great day.
Fantastic build Matt....You have a great vision of hows things need to be done, regardless of whether you've done them before......Loved watching the process.....incredible! Thanks.
thank you!!
Take care and be safe out there bud!
.................done like a pro ! fantastic looking machine !
Excellent video series - I just watched all eleven videos in a row!
Thank you!
Stu
Thank you so much, Stu!
I have so much respect for your work. Also, I loved the way your broke down everything in such a way that it was easy to understand.
Thank you!!
A very informative video on the cost/weight of a home made trailer.
Congrats, Matt! Your pride and satisfaction in your work is very much deserved! Kudos, brah!
Good job. You can be pleased with the results. You have learned a great deal.
You really do excellent work, no matter what you do Matt.
Thanks!
