20:14 The Blackthorn gym would also kill you by emitting volcanic gases that are toxic, on top of literally cooking you and posing a serious falling-into-lava risk. So to make it through the puzzle, you'd need to wear highly specialized protective gear AND a rebreather, also a rebreather that can actually handle the temperature, also, the chemicals in a rebreather are quite explosive if mishandled, and you need special training to operate a rebreather, since you will eventually run out of breathable air and without training, you'll eventually suffocate without noticing.
Ok
Another gym that I can nuke into the 9th dimension
I think the toxic gases are emitted from underground by the volcano rather than lava though
Clair and the gym trainers inside would also be dead too and the place would have so much volcanic smoke and heat that they would have to condemn the place and use ice and water types to cool the magma and fill it in after tearing everything down
All the smoke having a rave in your lungs while you do this gym:
@@magolor152 Yeah talking to the trainers in the gym lets you know that... it doesn't have poisonous gasses or excessive heat. It's apparently sauna temperature.

If I could draw perfectly I'd do an animations about a trainer (Hilbert) getting injured in Skyla's gym
Ok that's why skyla was a madlad in the anime
I’m surprised that blackthorn gym hasn’t already spontaneously combusted, all the pressure held inside would eventually make that place pop like a balloon
given that all the gyms in the games tend to have the same exterior, especially in the earlier gens, this might be stretching logic a bit, but at least in the anime, the gyms actually each have their own distinct outwards appearance. doesn't mean they are any safer, what with Blaine's gym in the anime being inside of an active volcano..., but it does mean that there could be some structural differences between the gyms. I would not be surprised if the blackthorn gym was actually an open-air arena or something, which could be explained by having the gym building just be some sort of warp-panel like technology that takes you to the actual location. this argument could potentially also help with a few other gyms, but not nearly as much since none of them seem to have problems that would be resolved as easily by just changing the location itself like that. certainly, it would still be dangerous to be in the blackthorne gym, but if it had an open roof of some sort, or was in an outdoor location connected by a warp panel, then it would be at least a little bit safer as long as you didn't actually fall into the lava.
while it is true that in the earlier games especially, the gyms always looked the same from the outside, I actually rather doubt that was anything more than minimization of storage usage by not having to design a different sprite for each gym and implement some other way of showing that those places were gyms. This is especially true given that very few gyms seem to be the same size and shape when it comes to the interior itself. you have some gyms, like brock's that are just a single room. you have other gyms in the same generation that are a differently sized single room, or even multiple rooms that take up far more space. despite this, all of the gyms in gen 1 and gen 2 look identical from the outside. (I am not sure when they switched to having the gyms be allowed to be different from the outside, but I know that gen 1 and gen 2 had pretty much the exact same gym exterior for every gym between both generations).

Skyla: My gym challengers die.
All of the Gen 8 leaders: We care for our trainers safety.

Here’s a thing about skyla gym, you can say that Clair gym could use some sort of effect to create lava-like water, but Skyla gym is literally fire you off a canon onto the ground or a wall, she’s out there to kill people

If Clair and Skyla opened their gyms in real life, I can’t imagine how many law suits will be filed
Forget law suits imagine the murder charges
Not to mention OSHA wouldn’t even let them open it.
a lot
In Clair's case I'd be more surprised if she was still alive by the time the law suits would be filed. Seriously, it's probably even more of a risk to her than the trainers if she had to stay there for as long as she does in the games.
That and carrying ten pounds of crack
Also I did the maths, and the only way you’d live is if the blackthorn gym is over a mile long, leaving enough space for the heat to be and then enough time to find a fault of sorts in the building to get out of it, but what you probably want to hear is that if you stood in there without protective clothing, your skin would peel off within three seconds of standing still. :)

3 seconds seems like long enough 🤷♀️

At least with the sw/sh gyms, it appears as if attempting those gyms is an event in it of themselves. You need to be a registered gym challenger, and only one at a time can attempt with the arguable exception of the one where you catch Pokemon to beat it.

@@Selet101 It wasn't halfway through the match, it was after the first time Ash and Blaine battled, and Team Rocket planned to capture Magmar by freezing him with these missiles, and once he melted through the ice, they were shooting wildly around the arena, freezing the supports that kept the field suspended above the lava. Once the supports broke, that caused the volcano to start erupting. Even if there escape route when they were shot into the sky wasn't the crater, it was still a vent from the volcano. Then, after things calmed down (thanks to Magmar, Charizard, Pikachu, Geodude, and Onix), we move to the top of the volcano.

Gonna comment on the rock climbing gym, considering you never some off the ground higher than seemingly 10 feet at most, it seems to specifically be a bouldering gym, which is a type of rock climbing without harnesses or helmets. Bouldering gyms usually have a cusioned floor as well so the safety should be at about the same as cerulean's gym, at about a 2-3
Especially because there seems to be no overhanging climbing, the main danger of boulder is back injury. But it seems to be pretty vertically aligned
Those floors do not look cushioned to me.
You could die from a 6 foot fall if you land on your head. It wouldn’t make sense to somehow become completely flipped over in a 10 foot fall but I have a feeling it certainly is possible.

Gym Regulation: I'm sorry, your slugma is going to have to be in its pokeball due to intense heat.
Me: .... wut?
Would the gym leaders really. If u think about it there was an episode in the anime where 2 groups wanted to start a gym in there city and they used there pokemon to literly attack the other groups members to force them away. Nurse Joy was there in disguise to evaluate if the gyms was up to the pokemon leagues standards. So all these gyms have been certified and approved by the pokemon league. So the real blame would be on the pokemon league and not the gym leaders.
@@Shiftry87 in games maybe the pokemon league regulates them what makes sense because most of elite 4 are adults
Interwiewer: Skyla, how many childs have you killed on your time as a gym leader.
Skyla: **Starts counting in head**
INTERVIEWER: Uh, Skyla?
SKYLA: Hold on... *continues counting* What was the question again?
INTERVIEWER: How many children you killed as a Gym Leader?
SKYLA: Oh yeah. Yeah, I was given lawsuits for the first design of my gym because I never added landing pads where the trainers landed after being shot out of cannons.
INTERVIEWER: You shot kids out of cannons without air cushions?! Why?! Even human cannonballs use air cushions!
SKYLA: Yeah, turns out landing on metal platforms wasn't the brightest thing in the world. There was also one that shot you into a steel wall. Some safety regulators told me that the reason my gym didn't have any takers or just wanted me to have the battle outside was because anyone who tried my gym challenge was dead. They even proved it with ballistics dummies, a lot of them had similar results, everything from broken bones to ruptured organs. Which is why I had to take that gym down, or the cannons away and switched to strong, gale-force winds. They also told me to give the trainers proper safety guidelines for the challenge.
INTERVIEWER: Skyla, that still sounds highly dangerous.
SKYLA: Hey, I'm from a family that breathes in danger. And besides, this new challenge has walls to block them from the wind. Granted if you're caught in the wind, you could hurdle into the walls or some wooden crates, but the results had much more success than the cannons.

Don't worry about the goodbye cannon, because the penultimate cannon before skyla already took care of every single gym challenger. @@caolanochearnaigh9804 It's just a fantasy, and who knows how many years pass between gen 3 and gen 8. Kabu could be Flannery's father, cousin or even son.
