Id say not liking to fight isn't inherently a herbivore thing because lots of solitary predators avoid unnecessary conflict, if they get injured and can't hunt they lower their survival chances, they usually go for quick easy kills when possible. That aside I'm loving this video so far
Fighting is more of an herbivore thing because they can afford to do it, if they get injured they can simply eat some plants but a predator has to get lucky to recover.

A great many issues here, the biggest I've noticed so far are saying stars are planets and the conflation of autotrophs with chemotrophs. When an organism breaks down things like minerals of rocks or target specific chemicals that are abundant in certain areas (like sulfur in volcanic regions or hydro-thermal vents), we don't call those autotrophs; we specifically call them chemotrophs.
That's actually a really good point, I would say that would be more specific for when I made the category "inorganic heterotrophs" as I do have a bunch of Pokemon that would be perfect for chemotrophs in that case! That's actually a term I hadn't really learned before and tried finding. As for the stars, yeah, no defense there, a simple mistake from years of never learning that proper
Fun fact canonically Vanillish actually has a little bald head underneath all that ice so you actually could eat the ice shavings off of its head without harming the Pokemon although I imagine the Pokemon would find it very awkward to have a human licking them
VERY surprised and in disagreement with pretty much all of the "herbivore" picks that are based on the Pokémon being compassionate or friendly. The closest social species to Eevee are dogs or lions, which very specifically create packs/prides to hunt together. While sociality isn't exclusive to carnivores or omnivores, I'd definitely not consider it anywhere near a herbivorous trait.
Honestly, I completely respect that opinion I see pokemon and I often think of their pokedex and habits first and foremost even if pokemon like eevee have fox/dog/cat hybridization which would typically make it an omnivore at least
This video kept me company as I sorted through my entire sticker collection all afternoon and evening, nearing you in insanity, so all in all I had a great time

@@bugylgt not in other universes, we don’t even know if those exist. Most stars in the sky aren’t even in other galaxies, they do each constitute their own solar system though
Ursuring is shown hunting Magikarp in Pokemon Snap and Eevee and most of its evolutions are obviously carnivores or at least omnivores (dogs are friendly but also carnivores/omnivores)
Completely fair argument that I can get behind 1000% I think the hardest thing at times is making that same argument for many of the dog and cat pokemon but then forcing myself to limit it to the pokedex info first and foremost. Carbs lipids and proteins are all macro nutrients
That's genuinely a good point that I overlooked. I'd assume they'd still potentially for anything else they'd need but this is a perfect and simple counter argument
This is terribly underrated. I love this. These kinds of things are my favorite types of videos. Overanalyzing fictional universes about completely pointless stuff. Great job
Thank you! Game Theory had a pretty big influence on me and I've only just recently decided I would start deep diving into Pokémon!
Hope to see you in other videos or even streams and help the channel get out of the "underrated" zone by sharing it! I did everything from the art, to editing, and of course recording!
I like the idea of a Pansage with Gluttony chowing down on some sunlight
Fun fact canonically Vanillish actually has a little bald head underneath all that ice so you actually could eat the ice shavings off of its head without harming the Pokemon although I imagine the Pokemon would find it very awkward to have a human licking them
Now THAT is some new information for me!
@@KrillikVA Bulbapedia
Funny enough, I used bulbapedia for a majority of my stuff
Probs missed it since I only read the pokedex and all other info is memory
VERY surprised and in disagreement with pretty much all of the "herbivore" picks that are based on the Pokémon being compassionate or friendly. The closest social species to Eevee are dogs or lions, which very specifically create packs/prides to hunt together. While sociality isn't exclusive to carnivores or omnivores, I'd definitely not consider it anywhere near a herbivorous trait.
Honestly, I completely respect that opinion
I see pokemon and I often think of their pokedex and habits first and foremost even if pokemon like eevee have fox/dog/cat hybridization which would typically make it an omnivore at least
Im happy this got recommended to me. Good looks.
This video kept me company as I sorted through my entire sticker collection all afternoon and evening, nearing you in insanity, so all in all I had a great time
I like to read the dex entries of favorite mons, and it is a challenge. I highly respect your work! This deserves 1M views
This video has way too few views for how well researched it is. Good stuff!
Thank you! Hope to see you around in other videos or even streams! Tell others about the video/channel as that always helps tons!
At first i was curious, then i said to my self " this is crasy why do i watch that".
Then a keep watching, After an hour i realise that it is a performance.
Man you talked about pokemon non stop and learn all those datas.
Amazing, respect
This video is gonna be huge glad to be here early.
Only 1 min in thanks for this masterpiece 🙏
Thank you for making this 3hrs and doing every Pokémon!
And thank you for watching!
Bro, you make great videos, you are illegally underrated (but I don't think that very many people are interested in the pokemon food chain, except for nerds like me :D)
Take a drink every time he says a Pokemon's name. Behold, Accelerating straight to alcohol poisoning
4-ish hours of a man's insanity in research of every pokemon's food deserves at least 1m views, right?
1:15:47 When he said "Human children" i thought he was gonna say if a Tropius ate human children over and over again it would start growing them pftahahaha
Excuse me, I have an experiment to conduct now in the name of science
Amazing video! The quality really shows :))
In the future, I’d be interested in seeing video covering Pokémon with clothing like things and explaining that.
I have that same exact shirt! I've never seen anyone else wearing it before! Super cool! I'm not even an hour in yet and I'm fascinated!
This is the kind of work that is studied and referenced for years after and it was the perfect listening material for being at work
I appreciate that!
I highly recommend taking parts of it with grains of salt of course and peep my pinned comment for my mistakes.
Thoouuughhh an infinitely more accurate one I just made was the history of all ancient pokemon! I even got info directly from a professional and have all my references in the description!
Thank you for your time and viewership!
@@KrillikVA Of course but to have all of this info in one place even with the addendums makes it a perfect piece for pokemon fans of all sorts
@rooster4011 it's always comments like this that bolster me up to keep crunching away until I can make my living on youtube then do so much more
Hey! I just wanted to say, I love your videos so so much, and now you have me thinking a LOT about Pokémon ecology when I’m out and about in Violet 😂😂
great video, Really cool how Sprigatito is an Autotrophe
I think it is awesome getting people thinking about this stuff! Great video!
Screw learning about budgeting or the real world food chain this is the shit that’s really valuable
This was really cool. Thank you for making this :)
This checks almost every single box for me. Thank you.
The Vanillite line is pure ice yeah. The softer part is just slush.
Trust me you’ll definitely have sponsors after this video
I love your content! The amount of research you do is fascinating.
I was just thinking about this today and then this shows up on my recommended. Best coincidence ever. Great video ❤
the madman actually did it and I listened to the whole thing
Oh I’m so glad you actually made this video, can’t wait to watch it ❤
Oh yeah this is exactly what I needed. Definitely worth a follow 👏
Was a good listen, thanks for sacrificing your sanity for it 😂
I think saying trees eat people is jumping over the worms and mushrooms. its like the same as saying “humans eat grass” because “cows eat grass and humans eat cows.” you see that jump.
No way bro this is sick
Channels with less than 10k subs will really put out the coolest content ever fr
Anyways excuse me while i sit here for another four hours
That was impressive 🎉 I accidentally clicked this thinking it only covered the first 151 😅😂 I DID watch til the end!
🎉this is amazing thank you this is my third time watching hahha i just realized I wasn’t subscribed😢, I now am!😅, please keep making videos !!!!!
EVERY Pokémon and FOUR HOURS!? You just defended a thesis. Congrats on your Masters in Pokémon ecology
Okay, I am live right now and just saw your comment, I actually looked at your videos a little bit JUST to make sure I wasn't stepping on any toes! It's super cool to see you in my comment section!
There are some mistakes that I did make, BUT I added addendums in my pinned comment!
@@KrillikVA No toes were stepped! You definitely did the research - excellent vid!
Actually starlight is from other suns in other universes that have planets around it. Edit: in other words starlight is other universely sunlight
Facts
I made the mistake of forgetting "it could be a dead star, a forming planet/star, or it could be alive which is most likely" and ended up just saying it was dead
@@bugylgt not in other universes, we don’t even know if those exist. Most stars in the sky aren’t even in other galaxies, they do each constitute their own solar system though
@bugylgt technically all sunlight is starlight, but not all starlight is sunlight. Not every star in the universe has planets around it.
I didn't know that I needed a video like this until now. Time to lock tf in.
Great vid! But alright lets see ideas hmmm, how about, what Pokemon are keystone species!
Ursuring is shown hunting Magikarp in Pokemon Snap and Eevee and most of its evolutions are obviously carnivores or at least omnivores (dogs are friendly but also carnivores/omnivores)
Completely fair argument that I can get behind 1000%
I think the hardest thing at times is making that same argument for many of the dog and cat pokemon but then forcing myself to limit it to the pokedex info first and foremost.
In cases like Vileploom, it goes completely against the real life Rafflesia, so it makes it all a mess.
This is a great video!! Very well done. Keep up the good work, man.
Close enough welcome back bird keeper Toby
23:23 insane callback 😭 i remember being so confused watching that scene when i was younger
Oh yea i needed a 4 hour long foodchain of pokemon
