    If you notice in the song, he asks for mercy from the Lord but not the court. He knew before he kicked in the door that he was going to go to jail for what he was about to do. He wasnt concerned with that. He willingly sacrificed his freedom for hers. Now his only concern is that he receives mercy, in the end, from God.

      You are right! The thing a country man has to be concerned about is if she is going to listen. Most of us will get out and help or try to stop it from happening.

      I come from a long line of rednecks/country folk on both sides of my family. You're right when they say to wait in the truck, shit is about to go down. Most times, when it comes to domestic assault, the offender will get a light sentence for what they've done and when they get out, will be even more abusive to the girl. This is a fact. Once the courts don't do much about it, then , yea, country folk will definitely instill their own justice on the bastard. Country folk generally will not put up with that kind of abuse on women, especially their own, whether it's a sister, etc..they will mete out their own justice. Also, fyi, I was once like this girl in the music video many yrs ago. I was working and would go to work with bruises around my neck, face, etc. and was pregnant too at the same time. My co workers hated his guts for what they saw what he'd done to me. I tried to hide the bruises but it's hard to do and I still had to work.

    I'm not a great country fan, but I listened and watched the music video one day. Always considered my self hard core being a military vet. It actually brought me to tears, thinking of the possibility of that being my daughter someday. I would have done the same thing. The only difference is I would have made him suffer more before killing him.

    She continues to "waiting in the truck" after 60 months they are both doing the time. She is committed to him now. She is waiting or him to be released and what a reunion that will be. She's even driving his truck and keeping it safe for him. That's a good woman right there. It's jsut a pity her drunk ass husband couldn't see that, he could have saved everyone a lot of trouble.

    This song is based on a true story of a friend of Hardy’s who did 20 years and she waited for him to get out….. The guy grew up in an abusive home where I think the man eventually killed the mom. I have to assume he saw his mom standing in that road that night and saw the man in that trailer

    Not you? Christian, me too. Am I my brothers keeper, yes! No greater love than to lay down your life for a brother or sister. In the heat of the moment, count me in with be Hardy’s cell mate. He traded his freedom for hers. 100% worth it! When good men do nothing……if that was your sister in that road, your daughter or mom. There is no justice any more, it’s broken, it’s just US! Firefighter for 13 years, ems for 30, no different than running into a burning building in my view! Wait in the truck hun, freedom is on the way! Fear no judge, only the judge in heaven. • @rhondawillems1203
      @rhondawillems1203 10 місяців тому +1

      1000 % agree!! Unfortunately, calling the cops only infuriates the abuser more and it’s even worse the next time - so happy in this song she’ll never have a “next time”

    • @larynanntapp6333
      @larynanntapp6333 10 місяців тому

      @rhondawillems1203 Yep. It is unbelievably rare for an abuser to change. The "I will find you and kill you" have been proven to be the truth. Short of changing your name, creating fake documents and hiding for the rest of your life, you are still in danger. I'm a retired Trauma Counselor and abusers know exactly what to say to trick the counselors or whoever they talk to. People wonder why we don't leave but have never taken the time to learn about DV...if they did they wouldn't ask that. If this was a true story, Hardy's character just saved who knows how many women from being abused or killed. When I first saw this I felt like I had been punched in the stomach...it really got to me. But the line "it was worth it" settled me down and he became an angel in my book. I never wanted anyone to spend time in prison for protecting me but this song gave a whole new perspective on the word "angel".

      @melvance7281 I've got one under the seat and I will never go through DV again. Would I do what he did? Probably. I'm 60 years old, terminally ill and I never have kids. Worst they can do is give me a life sentence and knowing my sense of humor, I probably would bust out laughing when I'm informed that I am sentenced to life! I can save someone, or more than one, and not really end up in a worse situation.

      @@melissawitt3773 after being released he continued to harm others before finally overdosing on meth and dying. He lived 15 years longer than my mom did though and that was 15 years too long. He killed her because she wouldn’t steal from the churches treasury to supply his drugs. She was disabled,stood 4ft 11 inches and weighed less than 100 pounds,he was over 6ft and 200 pounds but he waited until she was asleep to stab her through the heart. He moved his mistress into her house less than 24 hours after she died and they stole or sold everything of value she had for drugs and wrote 82,000.00 in checks on her bank account in one weekend of gambling. My mom’s body was in the house for 6 weeks before she smelled to bad and he dumped her remains beside the freeway and let scavenging animals spread her skeleton around hoping she wouldn’t be found. I think the dude in the song did what he did because he'd seen his mom or sister (or himself) 9:41 beaten to a pulp and was finally big enough to stop it. Behavior has consequences way beyond the immediate, sometimes. What you do around or to your kids affects them deeply.

    Keeping your eyes open would make for a better reaction since you’d actually see everything.

    I'm a proud vet. To my shame, I'm also a felon. So. I don't have a ' judge under the seat ' but I'd have done the same and willingly paid the price

    Anyone know what he would have been charged with: 1st Degree Murder (I mean, from the moment he realized what was happening to the girl and he decided to kill the guy, it was premeditated, right? Even if the premeditation happened all of five minutes before the crime)? 1st Degree Manslaughter

    Thinking of this altruisticly, Jesus died for us, he sacrificed himself. I think that’s a metaphor, on a different level for sure, for what Hardy did in this song. ♥️

    You wouldn't spend 60 or plus months for Nobody? So if that was your Daughter, sister or even mother you'd just call the cops? That's you. Couldn't be Me... Respect your reaction tho.
