As a southern boy,born and raised in SC...I have seen this before. I have "Corrected" a few guys like this in my life.......we take them to the woodshed. Then we take them to the pig pen. Pigs eat everything,..even shoes. Never mess with a southern boy,we will raise it to 10 in a minute,but we are the nicest people you will ever meet.....until you do something off. Then,..it's on. And we take care of business..🤪🤯💣💯
I am a 54 white southern woman who witnessed my own mother as a child be beaten and threatened I so get it. I wished she had a saviour like this but she did not.... instead we ended up 3 states over in a new world with a new life on our own back in 1979 and had no family friends or people we knew. But we survived. ❤
My heart hurts for any woman who has had to endure this in their life. I too have suffered this pain. Sisters, we must remember, it was never our fault. We never deserved to be bruised and broken from head to toe. I care about and have love for each and everyone you.

@@deborahdanhauer8525 For myself I saw my sister go through a lot of physical abuse with one of her ex-boyfriend's and I would step in and fight the coward because of him hitting and beating my sister down and everytime afterwards my sister would go right back to him?!?!🤯🤔😡😠 So I finally told my sister that I wasn't going to step in and help her because I was the bad guy for helping her and she would go right back to him every time! So I just told her that it's got to be her to finally get sick and tired of getting beat down by him and leave his cowardly ass!!!!!! And she one day finally got tired of the abuse and left him!!!!!!👍🙏

Yes, I would feel like I owed him my life. He told her to wait in the truck, and she is STILL waiting in that truck. Keeping him comfortable while he is in there on her behalf, is the LEAST she could do. He didn't just save her body that night, with him putting that rabid animal down, he gave her her whole life back.
I think that single line is arguably the most loaded lyric in country music history. (no pun intended) The amount of feeling from those 15 words is insane. and the word play is clever. Obviously the judge being the firearm, but where it came from. Under the seat, meaning an old truck which likely had a bench seat. and where do judges rule from. the bench. theres a lot to unpack from this line

My husband would have done this in a heartbeat for any woman. And he told both of daughters and our son that he would quickly and swiftly deal with anything like this if they were involved too. He was an angel.

I love the song. I think not knowing the girl or the circumstances, the action was a bit extreme. The character didn't know if the girl was maybe a violent, stealing, lying,....whatever. But I can't help but love the song anyway.
As a DV survivor this song hits home for me I wished I had someone stand up to him even the many of times people in public & friends seen his actions I never got help from any one else and I had to stand up for myself I love this song so much I can play it all day long
My Angel is a REAL MAN who “handled that” for me and my kids. I’m 💯 with him FOR LIFE! He saved my life, and the life of my kids, from the ‘man’ I was married to for 18 years….. His father crying begging me to get away from his son, he cared more about me than him but couldn't help me cuz his wife was encouraging the f**** to beat me. He went on beating others after me and has gotten away with using the insanity card and 30 years later is still beating women. CA sucks

I am DV survivor also. I agree with you about this dark subject being brought to light. So many look the other way, My ex would be dead too if my family could have gotten to him at the time lucky for him that he left the state.

Don't know if reactor thought he was being cute or what, but he was trying to figure out why lady was beaten and he said even though a man shouldn't hurt a woman, the man probably beat her up because she was cheating! REALLY??? Most victims are so caught up in just trying to survive and NOT be hurt, cheating isn't anywhere NEAR their radar! I don't believe in cheating anyway, but I was too scared too even if I thought of it. My ex held his fist against my face and said, " one blow and you'd be dead" or he pointed at his guns and said, " you can run as fast as you can, but a bullet is faster." I was isolated from friends and family and everyday after work, I was drilled with questions such as what did I do, who did I see and talk to, what was said, where did I go, and so on. On weekends, when I went to grocery store, he timed me, and once I got back, WITH our son in tow entire trip, I was asked all the daily questions PLUS, why I was 5 or 10 minutes late? Usually cause I stopped for gas or because lines were long at checkout at store. I was a nervous wreck 24/7! Many asked why I didn't leave? Because he knew where all my family and friends lived so he would have found me and put THEM in danger too, plus I held the steady job with insurance. The sheriff told me that if I left, per law, it was considered ABANDONMENT and I'd lose everything but my clothes. Plus taking my son who was being emotionally abused, would be considered kidnapping. Didn't matter I was trying to protect us both. My ex had already threatened that if I tried to leave, he would get our son at school and disappear with him. He had relatives I didn't know in other states bit I didn't know which ones. So I was STUCK AND TERRIFIED. My request to others is this, before you pass judgement on others and say, "Well I'D do this or that", try to put yourself in the victims shoes first. Only then can you even POSSIBLY begin to imagine what it's like.
@@robinhatcher8021 Amen you described me and my past to a “T”. I did try to leave a couple of times but like you say he came after me. Sheriff told me the same thing about it being abandonment. What finally convince everyone was when I was in the hospital from being run off the road by him, my youngest daughter which was 4 at the time told them daddy done this and that he told her momma ( which is me) that it would only take the snap of her neck to send her straight to hell. But I agree people will say they will do this or they do that but till they get put in that situation no one knows!

And I protected them from knowledge of the rapes because Daddy would have shot him and Daddy was a crack shot. He had been a hunter his whole life, so there was no doubt he wouldn't miss. They never liked my ex and my mother was the queen of , "I told you so", and I didn't want to hear it. I just couldn't face her because she was right all along. My child never saw anything physical, but we were BOTH being emotionally and psychologically abused. Like you, I was told per the sheriff and lawyer that if I left and took our child, it was considered abandonment and kidnapping! Even though I was trying to protect us! I was paying the house note. I was the one with the stable job! It was all we had that was SURE. So how was I to leave the only thing we had? Plus, if I left, the first place my ex would go was to my parents and they could get hurt. So for all the folks who never lived this and/or been in a corner like that, and they pass judgement and say, " Why didn't you just leave?" I say this, I pray 🙏 they never experience abuse like we did, and hope they never do because they have NO IDEA. My ex made a huge mistake which allowed me to divorce him and be free. I found myself again and am a very strong person now. God bless and keep you always. 🙏
I never told anyone. My mom figured it out and told my sister. They got me out. But my dad, my brother, and my brother in law, would’ve all gone to jail, no question, if they had known.
Being a young man raised in this I wish someone would have at least had a word with the guy that beat my momma and me. Maybe don't kill him but his life is worthless to me. Had the gall to reach out to me as and adult I'm 31 years old and I told that man. You don't want to see me because I will do worse to you than you ever thought about doing me me and mom. This one is so powerful They did this song live on the country music award show a week or so ago. They even had an old pickup on stage for it. Amazing song about a touchy subject. Thank you for your reaction, I have to say that anyone that helped me, even something small, became etched in my memory. What I think a lot of people miss is that he went in strapped but it was never to directly unalive the guy. He went to teach him a lesson and when the guy reached for his 12 gauge Hardy had no choice not to shoot.

From a 24 year survivor of domestic violence this song means a lot short story ex put me on a dating website for a joke he said nobody would want me I started talking to a man from Montana who was paralyzed since age 16 the ex threatened to kill me and hurt the kids the mountain man drove all the way to Wisconsin for a court case with me and gave the ex one look the ex took off for California where he died alone and that man I met is now my husband and I and my children are safe and loved they still live back home their all grown and I live in the mountains of Montana
I feel like this is a man who was on the outs already, and thats why he was in some random town in the middle of the night, and he found a way to make his life feel like he had meaning.. He saved HER life, and likely many others.... Sure, he coulda taken her somewhere.. But no guaranteeing dude wouldnt find her, or he would just find and hurt someone else
He knew what had happened to her because he could relate to her because he possibly lived it.. with his mom and dad. He was taking the steps to save her from a future of abuse and death. It satisfies him to do that because of all the years of watching his dad to it his mom until he killed her and no one did anything to protect her and he was too young to help her. He is grown and took the steps necessary to protect someone. Now he is relieved and satisfied the guilt he carried for his own mom.

Sometimes real men must unleash the monster inside us, we must be meaner than evil. We don't want you to see that side of us, we don't want you to fear that side of us so we tell you to ''wait in the truck" As she is on the stand testifying she says "I don't know if he's an angel because angels don't do what he did" I would submit that he was both a guardian as well as an avenging angel. When the system, when society fails to protect those weakest among us it is left to rough men standing outside the rule of law to do what is necessary to preserve the peace, protect the innocent, and return civility. Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice. Here is what I saw in the video: A drifter, a loner, a ex'con (Based on the prison tats) finds a gal who has been beaten, he knows the signs he's seen them in the past in a woman he holds dear. He makes the decision to help her, the only help he knows is violence. He has been to prison and knows he can do the time. He makes the choice to remove her from her prison, a prison of abuse and pain, he frees her.

Just the fact that he waited on the police and didn't try to run , shows that his conviction to protect her was morally correct. OMG, you took my breath away with tears and my hand hit my chest! I wish I had someone like that too with 4 yrs of DV and I was very young. His father crying begging me to get away from his son, he cared more about me than him but couldn't help me cuz his wife was encouraging the f**** to beat me. He went on beating others after me and has gotten away with using the insanity card and 30 years later is still beating women. CA sucks

I am DV survivor also. I agree with you about this dark subject being brought to light. So many look the other way, My ex would be dead too if my family could have gotten to him at the time lucky for him that he left the state.

Don't know if reactor thought he was being cute or what, but he was trying to figure out why lady was beaten and he said even though a man shouldn't hurt a woman, the man probably beat her up because she was cheating! REALLY??? Most victims are so caught up in just trying to survive and NOT be hurt, cheating isn't anywhere NEAR their radar! I don't believe in cheating anyway, but I was too scared too even if I thought of it. My ex held his fist against my face and said, " one blow and you'd be dead" or he pointed at his guns and said, " you can run as fast as you can, but a bullet is faster." I was isolated from friends and family and everyday after work, I was drilled with questions such as what did I do, who did I see and talk to, what was said, where did I go, and so on. On weekends, when I went to grocery store, he timed me, and once I got back, WITH our son in tow entire trip, I was asked all the daily questions PLUS, why I was 5 or 10 minutes late? Usually cause I stopped for gas or because lines were long at checkout at store. I was a nervous wreck 24/7! Many asked why I didn't leave? Because he knew where all my family and friends lived so he would have found me and put THEM in danger too, plus I held the steady job with insurance. The sheriff told me that if I left, per law, it was considered ABANDONMENT and I'd lose everything but my clothes. Plus taking my son who was being emotionally abused, would be considered kidnapping. Didn't matter I was trying to protect us both. My ex had already threatened that if I tried to leave, he would get our son at school and disappear with him. He had relatives I didn't know in other states bit I didn't know which ones. So I was STUCK AND TERRIFIED. My request to others is this, before you pass judgement on others and say, "Well I'D do this or that", try to put yourself in the victims shoes first. Only then can you even POSSIBLY begin to imagine what it's like.
@@robinhatcher8021 Amen you described me and my past to a “T”. I did try to leave a couple of times but like you say he came after me. Sheriff told me the same thing about it being abandonment. What finally convince everyone was when I was in the hospital from being run off the road by him, my youngest daughter which was 4 at the time told them daddy done this and that he told her momma ( which is me) that it would only take the snap of her neck to send her straight to hell. But I agree people will say they will do this or they do that but till they get put in that situation no one knows!

And I protected them from knowledge of the rapes because Daddy would have shot him and Daddy was a crack shot. He had been a hunter his whole life, so there was no doubt he wouldn't miss. They never liked my ex and my mother was the queen of , "I told you so", and I didn't want to hear it. I just couldn't face her because she was right all along. My child never saw anything physical, but we were BOTH being emotionally and psychologically abused. Like you, I was told per the sheriff and lawyer that if I left and took our child, it was considered abandonment and kidnapping! Even though I was trying to protect us! I was paying the house note. I was the one with the stable job! It was all we had that was SURE. So how was I to leave the only thing we had? Plus, if I left, the first place my ex would go was to my parents and they could get hurt. So for all the folks who never lived this and/or been in a corner like that, and they pass judgement and say, " Why didn't you just leave?" I say this, I pray 🙏 they never experience abuse like we did, and hope they never do because they have NO IDEA. My ex made a huge mistake which allowed me to divorce him and be free. I found myself again and am a very strong person now. God bless and keep you always. 🙏
I never told anyone. My mom figured it out and told my sister. They got me out. But my dad, my brother, and my brother in law, would’ve all gone to jail, no question, if they had known.
Being a young man raised in this I wish someone would have at least had a word with the guy that beat my momma and me. Maybe don't kill him but his life is worthless to me. What I think a lot of people miss is that he went in strapped but it was never to directly unalive the guy. He went to teach him a lesson and when the guy reached for his 12 gauge Hardy had no choice not to shoot.

From a 24 year survivor of domestic violence this song means a lot short story ex put me on a dating website for a joke he said nobody would want me I started talking to a man from Montana who was paralyzed since age 16 the ex threatened to kill me and hurt the kids the mountain man drove all the way to Wisconsin for a court case with me and gave the ex one look the ex took off for California where he died alone and that man I met is now my husband and I and my children are safe and loved they still live back home their all grown and I live in the mountains of Montana

He knew what had happened to her because he could relate to her because he possibly lived it.. with his mom and dad. He was taking the steps to save her from a future of abuse and death. It satisfies him to do that because of all the years of watching his dad to it his mom until he killed her and no one did anything to protect her and he was too young to help her. He is grown and took the steps necessary to protect someone. Now he is relieved and satisfied the guilt he carried for his own mom.

Sometimes real men must unleash the monster inside us, we must be meaner than evil. We don't want you to see that side of us, we don't want you to fear that side of us so we tell you to ''wait in the truck"

Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice.
Here is what I saw in the video: A drifter, a loner, a ex'con (Based on the prison tats) finds a gal who has been beaten, he knows the signs he's seen them in the past in a woman he holds dear. He makes the decision to help her, the only help he knows is violence. He has been to prison and knows he can do the time. He makes the choice to remove her from her prison, a prison of abuse and pain, he frees her.
You should check out "Sold Out" and "Jack" by Hardy also. Man is an incredible songwriter.

I really enjoy watching your reaction. You can look deeper into the the lyrics and see what he did was sacrifice his life for the weak. Just the fact that he waited on the police and didn't try to run , shows that his conviction to protect her was morally correct. It was not Justice served because that can't be done by vigilantes so the justice had to be brought on the morally righteous. Hope that makes sense. I'll be following you now.
