Back in the day, all the songs had to be that short to be played on AM radio, wasn't til FM that they started letting the songs go long. You are correct, this is Southern Fried Rock, Listen to Lonesome Cowboy by them, One of the great guy songs of all time.

There's a live version of this song that's really great. I remember when this album came out. Love the flute in the beginning and end. Yes it's southern rock - a mixture of blues, rock, funk and country.
