70’s was the Best Decade for Rock!
Yes but, the roots started in the 1950's. 😎🎸
Ain't a man alive who can't not sing along with this.
Don't you love it>no loops,no beats>no auto-tune-real singing>live.
If you like flutes then you have, HAVE to check out Jethro Tull. Ian Anderson, the frontman is a master flutist.
She killed him.
Toy caldwell
The guy with yellow shirt
Yes. Locomotive breath.
This is my first thought. Watch them.
Molly Hatchet - “Dreams I’ll Never See” 🎶🔥🎶☮️
MTB was a Southern Rock monster. These boys incorporated blues, rock, jazz, and C&W(emphasis on the W) into their Sourthern Rock sound. Toy Caldwell on lead had that unique thump-picking style, played steel guitar and wrote most of their songs. His brother Tommy is on the bass. George McCorkle on rhythm guitar. Gerry Eubanks played flute, Sax, & keyboards. Paul Riddle on drums. Last but not least, Doug Gray is singing backup on this one, but Doug sang lead on most of the MTB songs. He (along with Gerry Eubanks) also kept the band going with different lineups after all the other original members had moved on. (Tommy was killed in a car wreck in 1980. The rest of the band split up in '83.)
MTB had 5 consecutive Gold albums in the '70s and their 6th, "Carolina Dreams" was certified Platinum in the year of its release, 1977. Personally, I love every track on Carolina Dreams. MTB was perhaps my favorite Southern Rock band. It was a great genre. Toy Caldwell was asked once about what happened to Southern Rock and Toy said, "We just woke up one day and it was gone". RIP, Toy. Your music lives on.
Grand Funk Railroad, “Inside Lookin Out” live version. Buckle up Brother.
Yes! He better watch the live version and strap on to his grey couch for Grand Funk Railroad. Remember must be the live version of Inside Looking Out!
One of the best live bands of the 70's. Saw them at the Forum in Inglewood ca as a lead up band for Ten Years After and Grand Funk totally stole the show.
1969 version
Quality my guy, straight up quality!
Yes!! I grew up listening to GFR, and to this day still my favorite band. Will blow this young man right out the water. Music, when it was true music.
Southern Rock: Pride in God, Family and Country!
Allman Brothers Whipping Post! Gotta do.
WOW, bringing on the Southern Rock! Thank you. Got to hear:
Allman Brothers: Whipping Post.

Most anything done at the fillmore was kick ass. Something magical about that place.
If you liked this one you'll love Fire on the Mountain!!!!!!
that dude was wounded during a tour in Vietnam... once healed he finished his tour...came home and buried a brother...
he earned that honey throated righteously... those guitar licks?
straight from the heart and through an amp...
Much respect for Toy Caldwell, singer/guitarist. Marine Corp Combat Veteran from The Viet Nam War
Think he went to Vietnam twice
Much respect
RIP Toy!
Wanna see some crazy flute incorporated into rock...check out Jethro tull "cross eyed mary" or " aqua lung"
Love this song so much!!!
Definitely need to checking Jethro Tull "Aqualung" or "Locomotive Breath" for flute. and probably Allman Brother's "Whipping Post" if you like the theme of this song, woman done you wrong.
Locomotive Breath is a must.
It will blow his mind!
EXACTLY....
Yep, you want some wild fluting and amazing showmanship, Jethro Tull is a must.
Its Jethro Tull
Marshall Tucker band. One of the original bands of the "southern rock" genre. Very underrated. Lynrd Skynrd, The Allman Brothers and The Doobie Brothers learned a lot from these guys.
You are going to love going down this Southern Rock Road! You are making bridges, one band at a time, thanks for taking us with you! (MUST DO: WHIPPING POST-ALLMAN BROTHERS)
Love the Marshall Tucker Band !! They are even b4 my time. Lol. They have alot of Good songs.. Love The Steve Miller Band . U should check them out... I love alot music from b4 my time... That was real talent back in the days. ✌
Steve Miller Band sooo worth a listen
I agree Steve Miller band is a must 😁
Love their brand of southern rock, bluesy rock and soul. Thanks for taking me back when music was real
Toy lost both his younger brothers within a month of each other to car accidents. He was also a United States Marine Corps Vietnam War combat vet (WIA). That's him singing with incredible soul and thumbpicking that beautiful Gibson Les Paul. Thank you for everything brother. Rest easy. (History from another Music Lover).
Gotta love the harmony ❤️🎵
Hands down my favorite song from the 70s.
Love these old school song reactions.. by all mean. Head for some Allman Brothers.. "tied to the whipping post" will blow your mind.. "soul shine" is a personal favorite. "Midnight rider" "sweet melissa" this list goes on and on.. somewhat same style as marshall tucker/lynrd skynrd. Enjoy..
You are always unique and of course brilliant💞💞💞💞💞💞
First time seeing the flute???
You MUST MUST MUST watch JETHRO TULL Live and watch Ian Anderson go wild.
Locomotive Breath, Aqualung, Thick as a Brick and other great songs. They were a superstar band in the 70’s.
Charlie Daniels's Band song The South's Gonna do it again...singing about a musical revolution with Southern Rock bands like Marshall Tucker band, etc.
Check out Black Sabbath War Pigs They were the forefathers of heavy-metal back late 1960s💯🔥 guarantee especially for that era every band has been influenced by them and heavy-metal🤘 I won’t steer you wrong brother! Looking forward to your reaction... Brother from up in northern Michigan traverse city👊

Train Train by Blackfoot- it’s one hell of a ride and so much fun.🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶😎🤘🎸
All good classic rock gets a mandatory thumbs up.
Oh yes!!! 🥰 you're becoming my favorite on here, so funny! Listen to some Bob Seger (anything, he's that good) Allman Brother (whipping post)
This is a great tune... everyone knew it. Check out Fly Like an Eagle, Desert Skies, Searching' for a Rainbow...
Don't forget "Heard It In A Love Song".
Play it all!!!
oh man, you could name off almost every one of their songs.
You have a great voice!!!!!!!! Thanks for singing a bit with this one!!!! I just happen to hit on one of your reactions a few weeks ago, thanks for humor in your responses
No prob dan man appreciate u for watching
Southern rock really seemed to be about finding the overlap between country and blues. And then jamming over it.
If you dig Toy Caldwell's vocals, you will probably also dig the singer from the band Molly Hatchet. Check out their song Flirtin' With Disaster.
And if you dig that flute, well there's just one way to go and that's check out some Jethro Tull. Jump right in with both feet and check out their song Critique Oblique.
shaitanlavey Dreams I’ll Never See“ by Molly Hatchet is another one Mr. Video would probably like
Seen them twice and an all weekend jam down hehe in Virginia. They also killed it!!!✌️
First concert I ever went to without adults was Molly Hatchet at Southern Star Amphitheater in Houston. Back around 1982.
@@shaitanlavey The Outlaws too
Danny Joe Brown is the singer for Molly Hatchett. Really great song. I hope we see a reaction to it.😊👍
This song never gets old 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️❤️🌍
From the mid 1970s. This is when "Southern Rock/Blues was really popular. Lynard Skynard, Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker , and Elvin Bishop etc.
38 Special
@@peggykondik5817 U remember Rossington Collins?
@@susanhscarboro1139 yes
@@peggykondik5817 oh how about Dixie Dregs?
They opened for Mother’s Finest back in the day. lol
I love your reaction when you see some of the instruments that Rock groups (especially of the 1970's) used in their music. Violins, saxophones, flutes, harmonicas, etc. You look so surprised!
I love this stuff. Reminds me of my dad and my grandpa. Fires and camping. I picture mt.hood and dirty forest trails. Old train tracks. I can hear and smell rivers when I hear this kind of music
Stationed overseas back in the 70's, this band kept me home... in my dreams.
Saw these guys in Atlanta in 1974. My cousin in KY came to TN n picked me up and we went to Atlanta. One of the best concerts. Love these guys.
My favorite band of all time. Great band, tragic story. Toy Caldwell was a fantastic guitarist and writer. He was also a Marine in Vietnam and was wounded. This is one of the songs he sang lead. Check out "This ol Cowboy "
e
Excellent tune... my older sister used to spin this tune a lot....... brings back great memories.... You always make me smile....
Good music is just that, good music, and timeless. 100 yrs from now this will still be good music.
One of those great songs that transcends genres, time, and backgrounds. A perfect mix of chords, arrangement, vocals, and soul. People will be listening to this long after Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift, and Nickelback are completely forgotten.
Love it brings back memories
Good ole southern rock. Love it
As a high school kid in 1973, I mowed the grass for one of my dad's younger co-workers. His girlfriend left him. And they asked my dad and another co-worker to go to his house and check on him. He had blown his head off with a shotgun. This song moves me to tears every time. He hurt so bad and couldn't figure out how to not keep on hurting. I wish he could have taken a train all the way Georgia instead, instead of feeling hopeless in a tiny town of western Kansas. He was 28 and a wonderful person.
Nobody can make it all the way through the first chorus before falling in love with this song. Glad you came along! And their "Take The Highway" features flute and Doug Gray, their actual lead songer. That there is Toy Caldwell!
Oh damn...got me all up in my feelings on this one
Finally I was 1st like
your real man, Thanks
maybe some southern rock
Allman Brothers Band
Whipping Post
and or One Way Out
More Marshall Tucker"fire on the mountain","searchin for a rainbow","in my own way","take the highway" ,"24 hours at a time" . RIP Toy and Tommy Caldwell 🙏
My dude is BRILLIANT! Keep doing your thing, Sir. We will keep watching. Give dog and the butterfly by heart a listen someday..
You just make me smile! I know that everyone around you always has a good time! Thanks 😊 🎶🎶👍
You are so hilarious. It’s nice to see younger people have an open mind to different types of music. It’s very special, especially with all that is going on. Thank you. 😊😊😊
Special, special song. 💜✌ Love that you loved it (well you liked it and sang to it, for sure). The Marshall Tucker Band!
Watching you discover music of the past is going to be a fun ride!!!
One of my top 5 songs ever.
Allman Brothers Band - One Way Out is also a good one
Yassine Maher damn Gregg Allman is a goat! The best blues voice ever to come out of the south... and Duane was a monster on guitar. Best of southern rock/blues
My favorite
great song stands the test of time!
HA! Impossible not to sing along to this!
How did THIS SLIP BY ME?!!! Glad I found it anyway ... do us a country reaction man! For us 😜 country gals out here!! Hahaha❤️Tennessee
Love watching you enjoy Marshall Tucker one of my favorite bands.
"Take the Highway" is another Marshall Tucker track with marvelous flute and guitar solos. I think it's their best.
One of my favorite songs ever!
One of the best concerts I've ever been to. The seventies were a magical time to be a teenager! Al the guys had long hair and afros...best of times...just ask anyone you know that was a teenager in the seventies! ♥️
So many memories of hearing this the first time.
My hometown band!
My all time favorite song. Then I got to meet some of the band members that are still with us today. I get chills every time. Thank you so much for reaction to one of my all time favs. I can see that you feel the music in your soul. Now that's what I call a great reactor. Please keep up the great content. I'll be here watching and giving you props for your genuine reaction.
Such a great song and a great reaction by you. I had to come back and revisit this one today. ❤️❤️❤️
I just saw Marshall Tucker band tonight in San Juan Capistrano, California.
Just my opinion but,I think "fire on the mountain" is their best.
You should react to it Mr video.
It is one of their best but "Take the Highway" is another with plenty of flute, my favorite is "You Ain't Foolin' Me", the interlude in that song is just beautiful.
I think that too
i love that song!
This is one of those songs that a lot of folks have heard a thousand times and never had any idea that The Marshall Tucker band were the performers.
Toy Caldwell, the singer, had just returned from the Vietnam War when he recorded this .. he was wounded over there in battle .. one minute he was fighting for his life .. the next singing this .. life is crazy .
Marshall Tucker Band: This 'Ol Cowboy is another great one to check out.
I was born in 84 and love love Southern Rock
This is a great song 👍👍💙
Light that s*** up and go on a journey. Led Zeppelin the rain song, traveling Riverside blues and bring it on home. Just a few more. You've already crossed the deep line with Pink Floyd...keep going my friend.
Such a good jam!
You could absolutely do a cover of this, and pull it off quite well. In my opinion, of course. Hope you’re having a great day, you certainly have put a smile on my face. Thanks for all your hard work, it’s really appreciated!
Hey man. Go ahead and sing along. I like it when you do.
As I see you, the mood improves. You are positive, real - you do not play. Really.
I feel yay he instantly makes the mood better
Your funny and can sing..wow..im blown away..God Bless you and may all your dreams come true!
Oh yeah, one of my old time favorites! I love seeing your reactions to some of my favs..it feels like I'm in the room with a friend, sharing old memories with ya!! Love you brother!
SO SO COOL YOU ARE DOING THIS. there is so much talent that needs to be shared and that's what you are doing.!!!
Perfect reation!
Marshall Tucker was one of the greatest southern rock bands that came out with other great bands of the time such as Allman Brothers, Lynrd Skynrd and The Georgia Satellites some of the best rock music of the time thanks
So this band up in the Carolinas had to rent a garage to jam in. After a long morning session, they decided to break for lunch. The guys complained they needed to name their group.
As they locked up the garage, TC looked at the keyring. The tag said, Marshall Tucker(the prior tenant, not landlord). So there's that. The guy with the voice told me the backstory.
After Vietnam, my uncle needed to learn a trade. My Daddy hooked him up with a blind piano tuner as his driver and apprentice. My uncle learned the trade from the master, Marshall Tucker.
In '04/'05, a local nursing home where Marshall entertained needed a new piano. He said it was totally shot. Not even he could tune it.
It made the news. I called the band in the upstate. I told them their namesake needed a piano and could they help. They offered one of their keyboards with all the settings anyone could want. Plus, it was *theirs*.
You're not gonna believe this: the director of the nursing home *turned it down* like it was an insult.
The wind-up is, MTB and MT worked something out on the phone for the donation.
The guys aren't rolling in royalties for the same reasons many great talents don't. But their still rocking and that voice has just gotten more powerful.
Around 2012 in a town called
Little Rock in the State of Arkansas, lol, i was the "Chief Mechanical Officer" of the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Blue unit circus train that traveled the entire country, but this particular year we had a couple weeks of get away time for the performers and everbody else except me and my crews that stayed with the train as this was a good time to repair things since the train we traveled on was like a ghost town during this break! Generally this down time is boring as hell when me and my guys were finished working for the day, but not this particular year cause while throwing back too much liquor one night in town we were informed of their major music festival taking place right across the river from where parked our train that coming weekend! As luck would have it i had circus comp tickets on me and worked out a trade with the bar owner who was also a festival promoter who had these round pins you pinned to your shirt that were all access to the festival, so i got enough for my crews and me and then he hands me the program for the 3 day long "Little Rock River fest" with location of all 4 main stages, list of Bands performing and the times they will be starting! Now when i got to the bands performing list, i might have cried, can't confirm this though!!
Every band from George Clinton, LL Cool J and Blake Shelton all the way to "Soul Asylum, Georgia Satellites, and The Marshall Tucker Band were on this list and we just scored early access to every bands performance all weekend which as it turns out also meant front row against the stage for all! lol
The moral to this story though is, Do you see the gentelman playing the flute in this video, his name is Jerry Eubanks and i shook his hand while he was playing this song right here!
Was a great weekend for sure because the very next night i also high fived George Clinton and Blake Shelton while they were on stage killing it! lol
Had to edit to cause i forgot to mention that there's actually nobody in the band named Marshall Tucker and never has been! lol
I love this throwback! It’s on my playlist! I enjoy watching your reactions!
Love this song! Heard in a Love song is a great one too!
You hit that weed just like we all did back in the day. I was around to hear these great songs. If i die i will know i lived during a great time.
