Hello There. I have a 2007 XK Convertible, 1 of 97 in Winter Gold, 56000 on the clock. Zero problems! One of the best sports cars I've ever owned, I'm 6'3" and 228 lbs, more room than I need. Just a fun car, a smile on your face. I do car shows with it, over 100 shows, and many awards. so you know the kind of shape it's in, all original.
I have a 2013 XK-R and I love it. I used to drive a Ferrari 308 GTS QV and didn't love it, though the conversations it kicked off were fun for a while. A couple of lifetimes ago I had a Lotus Elan +2S 130/5 and it was the worst pile of junk I've ever owned. When I was test-driving the 308 the dealer, who was a rare straight guy in a trade full of crooks, said he hated the model and it was no better than a '70s Lotus. Why didn't I listen?? The XK-R, my seventh Jaaag, puts a smile on my face. After a tough day or three at work I'll take it out (I'm in North Blighty) and open it up for half an hour to relax and recoup my energy. It has a class no German car (Auto) can come anywhere near. With the complex seat settings I fit it like a glove and the cabin makes me feel special in a way no other car except my old XJ8 has done. The ride and handling are superb, though I miss the thicker, more comfortable wheels on the 2003 XK8 I drove for four years. The performance is crazy, so crazy that when I drove it for the first time I lost the back end for a second or two. It pumps out around 510 bhp and without traction control it could kill you. Seriously. It's that fast. I've never driven the XKR-S, which I hear is crazier still. The supercharger whine is intoxicating and unlike your XK the exhaust on what I call the "rude" setting is loud enough to seriously piss off the neighbours. XKs are covered extensively here on UA-cam but I rarely see another of these fantastic cars in Northern England. The R makes me feel part of a select band as I overtake forests of cookie-cutter German cars and stick my nose in the air! The steering and paddle-shift are spot on and for me the only downside is the low driving position in relation to approaching headlights. Thanks for your review. I'll keep my eyes open for any follow-ups.

The sport mode makes a lot of difference in my XKR. Swapping a module means that the module needs to be initialised by JLR SDD software - very useful to own as a Jaguar owner. The exhaust is lovely if you have a convertible. You can of course change the back box or other pipes to make it louder but then you’re stuck with that all the time. When you want quiet and refined your stuck with the louder box.
Once you put the car into sport mode on the XKR is opens the bypass valve in the mufflers to create a more throaty sound. The NA version does not have that feature. The two different cars have entirely different muffler setups..
I bought a 2007 Jaguar XK Convertible in 2009 with only 10K miles. Today it looks the same as the day I bought it and has 93K miles. It has been a very reliable and fine car to own. I have never bought anything for the purpose of impressing someone...so I couldn't care less if someone asked me "are people still buying Jaguars". For my money, there is nothing in its price range that compares. Much closer to an Aston Martin than any Mercedes or BMW. Likewise, I find that my 2002 Vanden Plas has a cabin ambience, ride/handling combination, and elegant "look" that no Mercedes or BMW can match...it's much closer to a Bentley or a Rolls than the German offerings in my opinion.
I have read that the rear seats - which make it technically a 4-seater - positively affects insurance costs. I don't know whether that is true, but we can all see the lack of space before we decide to make a purchase so it's a non-point. My work bag fits perfectly on the rear seat.
I have been a BMW owner since my first car and really considering buying and XK. When you moved from BMW to Jaguar was it disappointing? Less exciting? Less fun? By the way I have a 335i convertible just in case you have driven it or something similar. Thank you

The problem with Jaguar is the same problem that a lot of foreign automakers no one really dedicates the effort in improving the quality and they usually get acquired by some crappy automaker like Ford and Tata Motors for Jaguar/ GM for SAAB and Geely motors for Volvo. These automakers acquire these Swedish/British brands and they destroy them!
Ah EXCUSE Me ! What about the Formula E Racing that Jaguar are competing in ???? A Sports Exhaust is an option on those XK's but we in the UK like our Jaguars to sound polite. 😂
Wish they made it again, such an elegant car. (Only would like with all-wheel - for winter driving). All modeorn jag looks are really not that different from any other car. Mr. Jaguar - get a decent designer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Even much maligned x-type is much more classy...unfortunately their frames are mostly rusty by now, though the engine - Ford Lincoln adoption, is still good).
Couple things... Why oh why cant Americans just say jag-u-er..surely they've heard it pronounced properly that way..especially if you own one but no..they all say Jag-war ...and some even worse...."jag-wire" 🤢 which leads into what you said people say when you say you have a jag...yeah its nothing other than ignorance by a continent that just aren't car people...half of north Americans still think they're v12... Last the back seats...why is this even a thing...its for insurance purposes and other cars dont even have seats that are just as big of a gt...

"Damper Switching:
Some of the main changes to the ECATS system is governed by the adaptive damping software and its control over the damper solenoid switching.
The damper operation and design are carry over, each unit having a 400Hz PWM, two stage (open / closed) 5.4 ohm solenoid. Control over damper solenoid switching can be one of the following:
• All Firm
• All Soft
• Front Soft / Rear Firm
• Front Firm / Rear Soft
General Functionality:
At system start-up the dampers are set to firm. This is also the default condition should an electrical fault occur within the system.
Below a predefined lower threshold speed, the setting will be switched to firm. However, above this pre-set threshold the dampers are switched to soft for vehicle
ride comfort.
Above the pre-determined upper threshold speed the system is switched back to firm. This provides vehicle stability for higher road speeds and reduces the wallow effect that a comfort setting would have at these increased road speeds.
Longitudinal:
The front and rear switching is to assist in resisting anti-dive and anti-squat characteristics as the vehicle accelerates and subsequently brakes.
Inputs required to provoke this switching action are: brake switch, brake pressure (Longitudinal decceleration) and engine torque rate (Longitudinal acceleration) via
the CAN bus with the appropriate vehicle speed message.
Long Wave:
This is a carry over function and follows a situation where the vehicle is on a long fast straight section of road and there are undulations in the road surface.
This function is activated when both vertical accelerometers detect a balanced sinusoidal input, at which time the dampers will be switched to firm to counteract vertical body oscillations.
ECATS Switching:
This is the new part of the ECATS system and involves a new strategy for controlling the damper switching between front dampers or rear dampers as an axle set, as required by the vehicle condition.
Front - Rear:

all those listed are a simple fix foe most part change pipe and gear in rear those any how and for me a 6 speed manual swap and add piston ring gap and turbo and after i kill the motor swap it with an ls cheapest option to bad the ecu is not easy to tune that i know of any how but piggy back a megsquirt is a fix fer that
If I want to hear the engine more, I open the window
The problem with Jaguar is the same problem that a lot of foreign automakers no one really dedicates the effort in improving the quality and they usually get acquired by some crappy automaker like Ford and Tata Motors for Jaguar/ GM for SAAB and Geely motors for Volvo. These automakers acquire these Swedish/British brands and they destroy them!
The sound?!? I like quiet cars…
(Even much maligned x-type is much more classy...unfortunately their frames are mostly rusty by now, though the engine - Ford Lincoln adoption, is still good).
its a GT get the xkr for noise.
What a downer you put on your Jag,,,, sell it, it's left hand drive anyway,,,,
What?
"Disappointing" spelling too
Amani Walk
😱
At least get the bigger studded wheels. I have one in the UK for sale if it's worth the import.
no wonder you have so few follows, I have a 2006 since new it’s been amazing reliable. Like American cars are ultra reliable and perfect NOT
What car have you designed again? That will will be nothing then….. move other to people would have done engineering
??
You guys all talk the same garbadge your all the same
Couple things...
We don’t speak like we have half a tooth and a mouth full of hard tack
@@PabloJustChillin just insular and uncultured more like
@@PabloJustChillin No, just a mouth full of crap!
@@jeffpollard7304 yours definitely smells like it though
Probably for the same reason why you guys insist on pronouncing aluminum and vitamins in some weird and funky way that sounds like a completely different language. Even though English originated in your part of the pond you guys have insisted on not progressing with the times and perfecting the language like we have.
If someone told me they'd bought a "Jagwarr" I'd take a step back too, and say wtf?
