You can push the rubber bush at the top of the drop link further up the sway bar, then slide it back down and over the drop link top nut after tightening. A bit of lubricant on the sway bar helps it slide. The bush is to stop the top of the drop link rubbing on the hand brake cable, which it will probably do while going over bumps etc.

I would still suggest having a four wheel alignment done as that will assist with handling and tyre wear. It might feel OK but you might still be killing your tyres. Well done on changing them yourself, though, not sure I'd have the confidence to that.

I had exactly the same problem as this guy but i opted for a professional alignment afterward.

Perhaps the belts have either not been replaced in accordance with the service schedule or they have been incorrectly fitted. Over time, this leads to problems in the components they drive. This includes over cranking which affects the starter motor. These cars will usually run trouble free for 250,000 miles if they are properly maintained. Discs and pads are a consumable but not expensive.

I had a 525td with over 300,000 miles the engine was superb but they did have injection pump and and the little pump in the tank problems although minor problems compared to the very unreliable diesel BMW engines of today.

I just bought a 1998 355 f1 and want to do the stick conversion. Can you tell me where you got your clutch pedal and all the rest of the parts to do yours?

I have an R129 and I do the maintenance myself ever since I bought a single wiper for 100$ at the dealership. If I would go to the dealership to fix most of the things (they no longer have the Star Diagnostic needed to check my modules apparently) i'd be spending over 15k. So far I've payed 5k in maintenance in the course of 4 years now which is seriously not bad for what I've changed. I'm loving it! But I'm becoming quite interested in the XK...just want something with cheaper parts lol.

Just to add for those who do not know, when the battery gets low, it does not display on the dashboard. However, several things happen, the dashboard stops working, passengers window and mirror stops working, speaker on the drivers side starts acting up. Once, replaced the battery, the dashboard comes back on but the window and mirror do not. Leave the car for a few hours parked. When the car is restarted, all the issue disappeared. One request, can you do a video on getting parts like rotors, brake pads, oxygen sensors? I had to do a lot of searching to find these parts.

I wanted to say a big thank you. I usually watch your videos on my TV, so it's not always possible to add comments to your great videos. The other day my battery was low which I replaced and notice several things that happen to the vantage battery when it is low, thanks to this video I was able to replace my battery only Autozone had one and it was their last one in stock. I am still not sure how you did the replacement by yourself, I had to have help. Great videos. Please keep it up.
