Love this recipe, looks delicious. I am a huge fan of this channel and food tube and I am always excited to see and try new recipes. Jamie Oliver is such an inspiration to so many people including me and I love trying his recipes and they are always fantastic. Thank you for everything!
HealthyHair We have lots of smoothies on the channel, but the more vitamin packed fruit and veg you can include the more benefits you will get from it!
I get that it's a textural thing as to why you don't blend the entire fruit but I've had zero problems when I have blended stuff like kale, apples, pears, carrots and any other harder veg or fruit. It looks like I have the same blender (vitamix) and if you do blend long enough you get a really smooth juice which you can thin out with ice without too much loss of flavour. Juicing the fruit and kale here means you lose a lot of fibre from the kale and fruit (from what I've read the jury is still out on cold pressed juices) plus you get a heap more sugar in the drink. You can use so much less fruit and still add whatever greens/herbs you like (I also really like celery in my juices- it's super cheap too) and it's more nutritionally beneficial. Fairly sure there a techniques that allow you to "massage" kale in order to tenderise it as well.
i'd make my smoothie using frozen banana, kiwi, baby spinach, kale (maybe, i'd blend it up since i kinda like to eat it if it's not well blended), chia, oats, frozen grapes, greek yogurt and mango (if it's in season). i don't really like herbs and lemon in my juice..kinda traumatised by the taste of a parsley, celery and lemon pressed juice i bought last year. btw, pineapple and kale go well together :)
How long would a batch of this juice keep? It looks lovely, but I don't think I can finish a whole pitcher in one go and I'm far too lazy to make enough for just one. Juicer cleanup struggle is for real.
valiantnipple We'd only recommend storing for a few days. Or you could freeze it for much longer! In this time you may notice the colour change as the drink oxidises. For best results, make fresh every time. We feel your pain.

flakvr Apologies for that. We appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately, despite efforts to improve it in the edit, this is a little muffled. We always want to avoid this and will take greater efforts going forward!
Kurumi Tokisaki You add the Kale because it is healthy and full of Vitamin A, by keeping it in you are managing to eat/drink something good for you that you might normally avoid because like you said its not a great taste.
Kurumi Tokisaki Exactly people don't eat the peel because its not tasty. But what if you could hide the peel in something so you get all the goodness but the flavor of something else. that is basically the point of the kale. If you don't add its that is fine, still a nice juice, but if you are just after a nice juice and not really all that concerned about the health benefits i would have thought there were tastier juices out there :)
Louisa Rutherford when you juice fruits you need a lot- it's part of the reason why I just blend the whole fruit. Yes, you need to blend for longer as she says but I find I always use less fruit. For example I'd probably only use one pear and/or one apple, you not only ingest less sugar but you still get the fibre from the fruit that you lose in juicing it. IMHO it's so much cheaper and better for you to blend the entire fruit.
Gizzi is back....brill.. lovely recipes from a lovely personality

That looks so good! But also so expensive! Could you make some cheaper alternatives that also has all the good properties as in this one?

Cat Foxx This is exactly what we want to hear!
I love a good smoothie, definitely need to try this one out!
Foraged Wohoo!
Is the kale flavour very strong? Not such a big fan of kale..but this looks good.

Like it
so many strangely combined flavours... watercress and mint and kale...?
***** Packed full of goodness. They really do compliment one another.
will try then!
Looks good but too much sugar sadly. I would use whole fruit so there is fibre in there to balance the sugar.
How does a juicer work?
Paula Bean The most common types work by grating the produce into a pulp and then spinning the liquid out of it.
Wow the sound quality on this is horrible.

You should really remove the seeds from the apples and pears. Cyanide isn't very healthy.
is teh kale even necessary? its seems so pointless, sicne the fruits sweetness is just gona overpower the kales "bad" taste

orange peels are full of vitamin also, but how many people do u see them eating them, i see your point but i still think its pointless
Kurumi Tokisaki The Kale is jam-packed with goodness!

All that fruit and veg to make what, 3 glasses of smoothie? Am I the only one that thinks that's wasteful?

I'd rather pronounce the 'G' in your name as a 'J'.

I see what you did there.
Lemon is not green.
Fake! Lemons are yellow!
