  • @lindsaydeguzman5239

    I made these and I thought they were yummy :3 But instead of rolling them into a ball I just poured my mixture into a shallow brownie dish and smoothed it out after I first lined it with wax paper. I then covered it with plastic wrap and put it in the freezer till hard. When I pulled it out I just grabbed the sides of the wax paper and it came out very easily while still on top of the wax paper I cut it into 20 small squares which definitely looks more appealing then balls. The mixture was just too soft and I think even if I did take the time to roll it into balls it would of just melted back into globs or pancakes of mush on what ever surface I put them on. I think the brownie pan is less time consuming less mess and clean up and nicer to look at an eat. Over all I stick to this method instead of the balls but I did love the recipe and will definitely make these again and again.

    I'm going to explain my view on the video :
    The upsides :
    _ Probably delicious
    _Fun to eat when firm
    _Good for you
    The downsides :
    _ looks like shit, and i'm not saying this as a metaphore, it can pass for an herbivore dung. (sorry to say it, but i'm just saying it like i see it)
    _ broscience : Protein intake being best 30 min after the workout is a subject to discussion, and not a concensus. some studies say it's even better to take it before workout, anyways, don't present theories as fact, you can possibly spread false information.
    My suggestion :
    Crushed nuts could make a really pretty and appealing finish if the balls were coated by them, sesame seeds or any kind of seed really would improve the appearance.
    Food is about, taste, and nutritional value, but it's also about how good it looks.
    Hopes this get taken the right way, it's only my opinion.

    • @XOlleyX
      @XOlleyX 9 років тому +22

      Prince David if you're making 20 like she said, there's around 7 grams, give or take 2. So not really that high, all things considered. A serving of most yoghurt will have as much, if not more, and be a metric fucktonne cheaper

    • @xoxotntxoxo

    • @Fantic1980
      @Fantic1980 9 років тому +2

      Prince David I'd like to know if it has more protein than chicken breast or a piece of fresh tuna, because if not ... that's the damn point. You could also just get some whey protein powder, oats and peanut butter and make something probably close to that nutritionally for 1/10 the cost.

    • @markdotinc8371
      @markdotinc8371 9 років тому +5

      Fantic1980 I'm guessing about as much protein as an egg per ball so less than 10...nuts and spirulina are really not a great source of protein if you ask anyone who's not vegan

    • @sonnyking1990
      @sonnyking1990 9 років тому

      ***** I try and eat vegan and you're right spirulina is such a joke. The amount you have to take in a day to get any kind of benefit is ridiculous when weighed up against the cost.

  • @reynoldpan

    90% of the comments say that these look like poop, the other 10% are about how hot she is. I just want to say that these balls do not look like they want to be balls. There is probably a better format to eat this stuff, why force them into being portable when they clearly do not look like they hold their shape. Even after keeping them in the fridge, they will eventually warm up in my gym bag after my workout. Overall, a bad way to showcase healthy food by forcing ingredients to become more (or much) less appetizing than they are.

    • @orangewedges
      @orangewedges 9 років тому +3

      reymix2k Yeah, totally agree. These ingredients taste and look so delicious on their own, and they aren't THAT difficult to carry around (hello, bananas come with their own natural packaging!), that I don't quite understand the point of this recipe. An unappetizing amorphous mass of something resembling excrement is not really my idea of a post-workout snack to boost my energy. I'll waste more energy trying to keep my gag reflex in check as I try to force one of these down my throat.

    I've seen this recipe before, but what would be a really good addition would be to roll the balls in either poppy seeds or dark chocolate or dessicated coconut - just to make it easier to hold and get rid of the stickiness as well an added texture and flavour.

    Well, the 30 minute post workout snack or meal myth is just not true. Protein synthesis is hyped after a workout for 24 to 48 hours after that workout. You need a meal 2-4 hours after you workout but not 30 minutes. That's complete bro science.

    • @aptgetinstallme31
      @aptgetinstallme31 9 років тому

      Oliver Govrik funny thing is that these balls are not actually 'high protein'. I'd say they are rich in carbs and fats, and that makes a little sense of eating them when you come home after workout. But i don't think i could eat it because it's too fat, i would feel terrible.

    • @johnking-qk3qm
      @johnking-qk3qm 9 років тому

      Joe Mama this is used as a snack i believe not a complete replacement for a meal ... and unless you're stuffing yourself with shakes this can be used as a post workout meal on the go...but honestly you're suppose to consume some type of meal that is lean protein before AND after a workout within an hour...protein only last for abour 2-3 hrs within the body til it synthesizes which is why you see people saying eat or w.e 30-1hr before or after a workout those are the most crucial time for intake for your body ....

After a month I noticed I was not getting up as much and eventually I don't get up to go at all. I'm 50, but I'm not a doctor. All I know is it worked for me.

    Add some honey while you make it. Adds a lot to the taste and it's good for you too. We have a few variations of these made in India and they are pretty darn good.
    Also, peanuts are a good inexpensive substitute for the cashews or just a nice variant to try.

    It seems like instead of adding ingredient after ingredient into the processor, and ending up with some boring mush balls that don't look very appetizing, she could have processed some of the ingredients separately, or not at all. I imagine the texture would be much improved if she mixd in the oatmeal last, by hand, and maybe reserved some of the nuts or seeds to roll them in.

    Just like with fat and carbohydrates. Protein is a very wide expression. I mean do we know for sure that there are the essential amino acids in these things we call "high in protein". There are about 20 amino acids which are very often seen, those can all be found in the egg white.

    Did anyone else think of Sakura's 'health balls' from Naruto when they saw the thumbnail of this video?

    Thanks for this recipe! I have all the ingredients on hand, but I might tweet it a little. Love spirulina but hate the smell, but the dates will help lol

    It's almost vegan... Substitute the milk and this recipe is A+ for your inner health.. pre or post workout.
    Nice work..
    Rolled in coconut shaves or almond meal may help it's ... 'Pick up Ness' ;)

    These look great! I am intolerant to banana (my body doesn't digest it - along with a lot of other foods), can I substitute it with something else? Thank you x

    Is it safe to eat raw oats? I've read some articles saying even when soaked they're still harmful.
    Post work out meals and high protein meals would be nice ideas, Danielle.

    It's almost like she watched a bunch of vegan cooking videos and read fitness/clean eating blogs and she just took the most overrated ingredients and threw them into a food processor, also I can just imagine the taste of these and its not appetizing
