I love this idea because I like green tea a lot, and I am excited for tea recipes on Drinks Tube, so yey, thank you for that. You have a wonderful positive energy - but isn't 5 minutes a bit much for green tea? I made the experience not to let it sit for more than two or three minutes or it will turn bitter. Also, no boiling water, you usually let it cool down to ~70°C so you don't 'burn' the leafes, which can make them bitter, too.
It depends very much on the tea. Most need to sit for 5-8 minutes, some need 3-4 minutes, a few you can just leave in, and the more expensive ones only need 30-60 seconds on the first brew. Some green teas taste more bitter then others, so it's worth trying another type, if you feel it gets too bitter after only sitting for two minutes.
The most common degree for making green tea is 80°C, but less is fine as well. It usually ranges from 70°C to 85°C degrees, depending on the green tea.
yay thanks so much for watching! Most usually say on the packet so this one I left in for the time on the packet but yes it does vary you're very right! Some of my teas at home need only a few mins, others I leave in for 6 or 7 but the most important thing is to not forget about it and take it out! x
Becky is the best! She was made for this. I have to try this tea. It looked amazing!

Love the flamingo tea pot...who makes it?
Cool! I wonder how that tea would taste cold on a hot day with a mashed lemon wedge inside...
Do you think I could just chill that and drink it like an icetea? will you make some summertea recipes?
Salih Uzun We haven't done that, but would love to know how you got on. Stay tuned though, we'll have some iced tea recipes coming soon.
Is it better to use sugar or honey on this one?

Love you lots Becky!
SprinkleofWilly :)
Big love back x
Who made the kettle you're using and how much water does it hold? I want to buy one but none of the ones I've seen seem to hold much water.
Russell Hobbs! And the teapot is Lakeland! X
Makes me want to try tea
Amy Bax Do it!

Love your channel :) Please continue...:)
Yay!
I agree with you that's tea for one :)
great vid!! cheers
Katerina K. :)
Thanks for watching! x
why boiling water and not 80°C hot one?
this is probably easier
Simplicity, unfortunately. It makes it more bitter when it's over 80C. A lot of people don't have a thermometer. :(
Sometimes i'll leave the water for 30 seconds or a little longer if I can if I have the time! x
GREAT video! I'm curious about your equipment here. What are the brands of your hot water kettle and your tea infuser? I'm in the market for new ones!
Dallas Nachtigall They are Becky's own. TalkBeckyTalk should be able to answer you!
The teapot is Lakeland and the kettle is Russell Hobbs x
Thanks, guys!
TalkBeckyTalk so I found the Russell Hobbs, but did not find anything for a Lakeland brand of teapot. :( ...?
If you type Lakeland glass teapot into google it comes up, I think I have the old style but I also have this new one too and I think it's better! X
"This beauty"
More like this beau-TEA!
Zing!
WHEY!!!! Love what you did there!
I'd say, that tea would also work great if you gave a bit of honey in there and then put it in the fridge. Serve it on ice and you have awesome homemade ice tea... :)
Ohh now that sounds good!! X
Shouldn't green tea be brewed and around 80degrees?? Boiling water destroys the leaves
It won't destroy the leaves but if you have the time to wait then leave the water a few minutes, I usually spend a minute getting it from the kettle to the pot to it's cooled a tiny bit! x
You don't talk about the temperature of the teas that need the water to be boiled at.
+Cassandra S You should never use completely boiling water to brew tea or coffee. Water that hot extracts some unpleasant-tasting compounds.
that wasn't a teaspoon of fennel seeds...
Lemongrass is wonderful and I enjoy mint in my tea as well. I also add chamomile. I am fortunate to grow all of these in my garden and Lemongrass is the easiest! Here is a video showing how easy this wonderful herb is to grow, and ornamental to boot! ua-cam.com/video/PaMzOMGd798/v-deo.html
I wish I could grow them myself! What's your favourite? Make sure you leave some requests for videos! x
TalkBeckyTalk Your tea looks great and I would love to see a variation of my favorite tea which is Red Rooibos . I usually prepare mine with honey, chilled and served on ice with an orange or lime wedge. :)
Boiling water + green tea? I didn't expect that...
You dont boil the water in tea's.
5 minutes? isn't that going to add a bitter flavour from the green tea?
Usually it says on the packet of the leaf how long you'll need, for this one 5 mins was ok but yes you're right, some of my teas I have at home only need 2 mins, other need about 7 so I make sure I read before! x
thanks for the reply, this will safe me from some nasty surprises
infuse tea with Lemongrass...............................
last time i use that for Curry.....................
ok next morning i would stole one before my mom made it for another curry lol
Doesn't destroy the stone board totally any kind of knife? Hurts my ears :/
Whoopsie, sorry for that, hopefully if you try the tea it will make up for any noise...I promise you'll like it :)
"Most importantly you need a large teapot"
And there she lost all credibility when it comes to tea.
Do not listen to these amateurs.
Google "gongfu tea".
The gonfu tea ceremony is beautiful! We're not quite at that level yet but hopefully one day 🍵
