You reaction to the hanged man made me laugh out loud. The first time I heard this score was when I sat down in a theater in 1966 and watched the movie. It was the 3rd in the 'Dollars' series starring Clint Eastwood and is credited for catapulting him to stardom. I've watched it several times over the years and it's about time to do it again. 😊🤘
The first part, was the theme music of the western of the same name. The latter part is called "Extacy of Gold", and is from the ending part of the movie. It is from a scene in the movie, that is one of the most epic scenes, in movie history. The guy hanging, symbolizes something, that happens early in the movie. The silhouette in the background, is of Clint Eastwood, who was the main character, in the movie, and also the lead actor in two other spaghetti westerns, that was celebrated this evening. The waa waa woman had revolver earrings, in case you didn't notice. And several male musicians in the orchestra, was also dressed as cowboys. It's not easy to see in this video, but in other videos from the same night.
The first instrument to come in after the piano was an [Edit: English horn (first thought oboe as they sound very similar)]. The piano is great for rain, snow, and deep emotion (insert "plin plin plon" meme). The oboe and English horn have a more dry quality, fitting the western movie theme and providing the perfect contrast to the piano's rain, but also has a piercing emotional quality. Pure genius.
English Horn. You can tell by the bent bocal (the little metal tube between the musician's mouth and the instrument proper). And it takes LOTS of practice to achieve that quality of tone; I really love that hornist.
@ServantOfMelian oh! I was going by sound as I couldn't see much of it. Oboes and English horns do sound very similar, and I see what you're talking about. I will edit my comment accordingly. Thanks!
Its film music from a Western. The movie is called. The good the bad and the ugly. the hangman is from the movie. i was a western movie music evening. there are at least 2 more videos from that evening. they also have videos where they play music from other movies and even music from computer games. I just watched this film again not long ago; Morricone’s music is a huge part of the experience and powerful on its own. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. You’re the only non-musician reactor worth watching. Very insightful observations along with obvious honesty. What a delight to have you on UA-cam!
If you watch some of these iconic movies without the music and then with it you see just how important the music is to swaying the emotions of the audience. The big duel in the circle is a great example. I would not doubt it if Eastwood, Van Cleef and Wallach were stunned after they viewed the final cut with the music added.
I do love me a great film score, this being a classic. I was in a orchestra from 4th grade all they way through high school. I played trumpet. I miss it. I do play piano, but not as much as I should and want to. Something about playing at 3am makes my neighbors mad. Anyway, one of my other favorite film scores is Dances With Wolves. Ok, have a great day, Bisscute
The key to playing in an orchestra is listening for the other instruments and watching the conductor. You're doing this while you read the music and play the instrument mind you. I was in orchestra from seventh through 12th grade. It's been 46 years and I still miss it.
6-12 plus a few semesters in college. Been 30 years for me and I still wish I went professional rather than going into software, now apparently a huge mistake as AI has gutted the field!
If you have never seen the movie, you owe it to yourself. Heck, make a reaction video to it. The video you just watched is just two of the musical masterpieces from the movie. But the movie is more than the music, it is magical from start to finish, from the camerawork to the script, it is the perfect western, if you ignore the fact that it bears no resemblance to the REAL wild west. This is one of my favorite movies of all time.
9:22 It's called an oboe. Yeah, it's an incredibly beautiful instrument and maybe the most difficult wind instrument to play; it takes big lungs and great control. That old man could blow.
watch the movie, you will understand the hanging man story. And enjoying even more the music after that, I promise. The music is masterpiece but the movie is just legendary.
The whole night was about westerns including from the movie “Hang ‘em High” which is why there is a figure hanging from the roof. As for the Wa-Wa lady, you should listen to their recording of Avatar where her Mezzo Soprano voice sings beautifully.
This tune was the theme song for a movie by the same name. It is one of the best western movies of all time. So yes you see a man hanging from a noose and the silhouette of a western guy (Clint Eastwood).
Written by the legendary film composer Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) who has written many many film scores but none has had the impact of this, this score is from a trio of movies out of Italy in the 60's commonly known as "Spaghetti Westerns"...A Fistful Of Dollars (1964) For A few Dollars More (1965) and This one, The Good The Bad The Ugly (1966) all directed by legendary Italian film director Sergio Leone (1929-1989) Both of these men have influenced many directors and composers...These movies also launched Clint Eastwood into the stratosphere. Everything by this orchestra is amazing and there's a lot on here to see. The hanging man is just a theme from the movies as hanging wasn't so much justice dispensed as it was pretty much a sport back then. Tuva Semmingsen (Wah Wah) is a Norwegian soprano and she too is also amazing, please listen to "Bang Bang" and look close she's wearing guns for earrings...Christine Nonbo Andersen also amazing, the skill required for all this is beyond belief, one single note out of place and the entire piece is shattered, it's mind boggling to see what a group of dedicated people can do together, one no more or less important than another, astonishing.
"Spaghetti westerns" actually spanned at least 20 years and there were hundreds of these movies made, ranging from the really silly to the really dark. Lee van Cleef starred in some other good ones like "Sabata".
I am sad because I grew up with these films 5, 10 years old and I just assumed all movies had this standard level of soundtrack. I'm older now but cannot disassociate the score from the movie despite it's brilliance. So I love watching your reaction purely to the music in it's own context. That is something I am unable to do 😢 Ennio was a God, totally underappreciated. Truly amazing.
Hello Bisscute, this is a very good version of this soundtrack. It's by Ennio Morricone. He was one of the most famous soundtrack composers in the world. There are more than 500 films with his music. Another very well-known piece of him is "Once Upon A Time In The West". I can recommend Steffi Vertriest's version. Just her angelic voice and a piano. She sang it in a church. Her voice will kill you after 30 seconds. Believe me. It will blow you away. --> Steffi Vertriest - Once Upon A Time In The West (Ennio Morricone) cover - ua-cam.com/video/USK1VjV-nO8/v-deo.html Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany
One of the great cinematic compositions. Masterfully performed. Hanging someone for a little dramatic effect is not too much out of the ordinary, is it? Kudos to the arranger, this is even more dramatic and inspiring than the original. Masterful!
Ennio Morricone...the GODFATHER of all Movie Scores!...."Ecstasy of Gold",the Challenge for every Female Singer !......it's the INTRO MUSIC for EVERY METALLICA SHOW !!!!
congratulations young padawan, You have taken your second step into a larger world: the first in symphonic metal universe with Nightwish and Floor Jansen and now with musical themes from great films performed by orchestra 👍
thedealer777 0 seconds ago This was from a 1960s "Spaghetti western," made cheaply in Europe, typically by an Italian producer and director. Ennio Morricone also composed these pieces,. All this might explain why the soundtrack has a flavor of an Italian opera. Spaghetti westerns were popular, and saved Clint Eastwood's career back then. As far as the "Hanging Body" prop, the orchestra was playing music from Clint Eastwood's films. One of which was "Hang 'Em High!" By the way, the fat little wooden instrument that the musician was blowing into, is called an "ocarina."
The guy who wrote this, Ennio Morricone wrote the musical scores for more than 400 movies and TV shows. He was an absolute musical genius. I thoroughly recommend watching the movie too, it's one of the very best "cowboy" movies (it actually spans quite a few genres)
You damn right to get goosebumps, that is the correct reaction to this music. These pieces are near perfectly composed and the DNSO performes them near perfectly.
Watch the movie and it makes sense. People ask what's a conductor's job? Their job is to coordinate everything in the orchestra, it may look like they're just waving their hands and the baton, but all those movements have a meaning and are directed to specific parts of the orchestra. How I felt? The movie ranks high on my personal favorites list and the soundtrack is iconic. It was awesome to see it done so well. Much like if you like chocolate cake almost any chocolate cake is good, but if you get one from a master chef it's special. Seeing this is like getting that really special chocolate cake.
The “hanging man” cardboard cutout, is based upon original artwork used to promote the film in 1966. You would have to watch the start of the film in order to understand why the artwork was made for the film’s promotion.
The movie was one of the “spaghetti westerns “ that came out in the 1960’s. This is where I first heard it and we ( my Mom and sister and I ) argued over what kind of bird it was. Still don’t know what it is. And I believe the instrument that was playing when the piano was, was an oboe. Great scoring for the movie and great reaction
I hope by now you've had an opportunity to see the movie. This score is an important element in creating the drama that makes it such a memorable movie. As others have said, it's the ultimate western movie and launched Clint Eastwood's career. It's as startling and unexpected as the music. The music is so well integrated into the drama of the movie that it's difficult to separate them.
If you liked this performance, I can only recommend the recording of this beautiful concert called The Morricone Duel, which is available on the known platforms. You will hear more from the Maestro Morricone and some other composers and of course you will hear more of Tuva Semmingsen often referred to as the wah wah lady. She is a wonderful mezzo soprano.
Loved your reaction. I don't think, based on your reaction to the hanging dummy that you saw the movie😁 It fit well with the movie. But your reaction was real, and kind of fun too. BTW your eye make-up is exquisitely done with the eye shadow matching your dress, just perfect. I saw the movie when it came out and it was an engaging film and did very well at the box office. It was instrumental in the creation of a new sub-genre in film that came to be known as the "spaghetti westerns". Primarily because they were often done in Italy and the composer is Italian. The musical score was one of the highlights of the movie. It was wonderful to hear a full orchestra with the choir and soloists. Very well arranged and superbly done. It is not uncommon to see orchestras and choirs manage to stay together so well. Each musician is highly skilled and they , "practice , practice, practice". The lady who was conducting had a very good sense of the how the musical mood should be created and from what I could see did a fine job. The fact that it was before a live audience makes it even more remarkable. No chance to do another take if any mistake is made. As a musician, I am happy you got to hear something you had not heard before and I hope you will listen to more.
You need to watch the film and then you will se how fantastically the music and the film material , story, acting and scenery blend together. In 200 years Ennio Morricone will be remembered in the same way as Beethoven and Bach are today.
Ennio Morricone, an absolute genius. I recommend you to watch the movie, you'll understand many things. The "ua ua" is the is the howl of the coyote (is a western movie) and the hanged man is an integral part of the story. I won't tell you more because I don't want to ruin your film, one of the greatest world masterpieces ever. You are young, but you will be thrilled by this film, which is about a dispute over money in the midst of the US Civil War.
Hi Biscute, in the second music " Rhapsody of Gold " The piano was accompanied by an Oboe. An instrument similar to a clarinet. Unlike the clarinet, which has a single reed to vibrate the sound. An oboe has two smaller reeds that vibrate in tandem to make the sound. The blonde singer was a soprano. The wah-Wah Lady is a mezzo-soprano. A voice of the next lower register. There is another reactor that interviewed the two singers. It's quite fun. That reaction and interview is posted at the end of your video in a suggestion box. I hope that you view it. If you can't find it let me know and I'll bring it to you.
Ennio Morricone. My life wouldn´t be the same without his music. In my opinion one of the top 3 film-music composers of all time. My favorit piece is Nella fantasia. Means so much to me that I actually would like it played at my funeral.
Ennio breaked the point of the classic ! He's a genious ! Maestro is immortal ! Why the '' Ecstasy of gold '' is my favourite ? Love it , and no shame! So many tears my friends , and for a good reason . Really a dreals out !
This was from a spaghetti western from the early 70’s great movie. Just special how they can turn that film score into such a spectacular performance 🎭
In fact, this are two songs. The first one is the title, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The second song is called The Ecstasy of Gold and ALSO is the opening song from Metallica at liveshows.
You should watch the movie this was the title music written for it. Although it was filmed in Spain with an Italian Director, it was based on the unique American story line experience. You'll get to know and appreciate it more if you watch the movie. It's not like anything else in the world history. Enjoy the folklore experience.

Thanks!
Fun fact: "The Ecstasy Of Gold"(the second song/movement in the suite) has been the song Metallica has opened up their shows with since the 80's
It's also been used lately on a beer commercial here in the US.
@@patticrichton1135Yeah, I'm thinking it's where a lot of people are recognizing it from.
Some of the most beautiful Music ever.
Its film music from a Western. The movie is called. The good the bad and the ugly. the hangman is from the movie. i was a western movie music evening. there are at least 2 more videos from that evening. they also have videos where they play music from other movies and even music from computer games. ( dont watch a German dubbed version )
Exactly, they have also had different theme nights, like Science Fiction, Agents (007), Fantasy, etc.
Today's video was amazing the good the bad and the ugly. Your eye makeup was fabulous keep up the great work 🌹🌹🌹
I just watched this film again not long ago; Morricone’s music is a huge part of the experience and powerful on its own.
Hello from The Netherlands, thank you.
Very cool reaction...I will hit subscribe! (the music scores from the old Clint Eastwood westerns were always amazing!).
The more I see it the more I am blown away by the the 2 trumpet guys and their piece at around 3'. That's insanely thrilling.
That seemed kind of difficult, they struggled a bit.
Miss Bisscute has the most cutest facial expressions ever . A very adorable women.
9:22 It's called an oboe. Yeah, it's an incredibly beautiful instrument and maybe the most difficult wind instrument to play; it takes big lungs and great control. That old man could blow.
Actually, it's an English Horn.
@@visarr Oh, your'e right the English horn is longer. Never seen one.
watch the movie, you will understand the hanging man story. And enjoying even more the music after that, I promise. The music is masterpiece but the movie is just legendary.
Tuco!.. He was hanging around a lot in the movie... To know Tuco is to love him!
I was fortunate to see the Ennio Morricone concert in the O2 in London. Simply amazing!
The sheer, unbridled genius of Ennio Morricone! You ought to watch the movie to know why.
The whole night was about westerns including from the movie “Hang ‘em High” which is why there is a figure hanging from the roof.
As for the Wa-Wa lady, you should listen to their recording of Avatar where her Mezzo Soprano voice sings beautifully.
Got it, thanks ❤
hanging was a big part of the movie...great film
.... welcome to this "rabbit hole" ... it is very deep and complex !!! ... and "Tuva" is just amazing ...
Gotta watch the movie girl! :) The music is part of the films soundtrack.
That is something I am unable to do 😢
Ennio was a God, totally underappreciated. Truly amazing.
Two Oscars and 5 Nominations is not bad 😂
iconic masterpiece masterful performed. enjoyable reaction too, although you don´t know the movie.
from one of the best movies every made. This performance is simply stunning.
I love watching you react to music that takes you by surprise at how good it is.

Have a nice day and
Greetings from Germany
The genius of all this it was composed by Ennio Morricone. Maestro was incredible. He brought movies to life with his soundtracks.
Great reaction! A wonderful take on on an iconic movie score.
One of the great cinematic compositions. Masterfully performed. Hanging someone for a little dramatic effect is not too much out of the ordinary, is it? Kudos to the arranger, this is even more dramatic and inspiring than the original. Masterful!
That was an awesome surprise.
I am an American man, nearly 70 years old and I still get goosebumps when I hear this performance.

This was from a 1960s "Spaghetti western," made cheaply in Europe, typically by an Italian producer and director.
The music of my favorite western
The world famous film this is from has a lot of scenes in which people have nooses around their necks, hence the hanging mannequin.
The Danish Symphony Orchestra performs most of the good movie and TV series scores. They a special and talented bunch
The wild thing is that it is a live performance. Really cute reaction
As Someone Said, The Hanging Man Is An Integral Part Of The Film!
Ennio Morricone, the diference between an excellent composer, and an universal genious
The presence of the hanged man is very intentional. :D in this Western movie. hanging is essential to the plot :)
You need to watch the film and then you will se how fantastically the music and the film material , story, acting and scenery blend together. In 200 years Ennio Morricone will be remembered in the same way as Beethoven and Bach are today.
I need to, ill write it down ❤️
There are over 100 musicians and over 75 Choir members in this Orchestra !
It's the theme song for a movie western with gunslingers and all that! You are getting goosebumps just by listening to this epic song.
Three parter along with "A fist full of dollars " and "A few dollar more". The Orchestra does a lot of movie themes. This was actually the third one.
If you can't find it let me know and I'll bring it to you.
all the great musicians and see so many reactions get stuck on the hanging man PROP
1966 movie. By the early 1970s Clint Eastwood was making "Dirty Harry" movies in San Francisco.
The guy that's just hanging around used to be the conductor, but he dropped his baton during a performance and ... oh well !
The person hanging is the last reactor to give them a bad review!
The greatest movie score of all time. If you've never seen the movie, it's well worth a watch
Great reaction especially not realising the origin of the song itself .glad you enjoyed it .
Ennio Morricone is a genius film score composer great music which compliments every movie he has done , My fav film score of his is "The Mission "
My favorite movie and my favorite score.
