"It sounds Western" - that is because Morricone's music set the standard for all Western movie music from the 60's and forward.
700 colonne sonore solo 2 Oscar un genio Hollywood lo ha sempre snobbato grazie Tarantino🔝
The living legend Clint Eastwood, western theme. Song of the movie the good the bad and the ugly.
@@gilgamesch9272al massimo 500 😬
That's right. It sounds Western because Morricone set the standard for Westerns through this composition.
This performance gets me every time. Ennio Morricone was one of our most unique visionary Musicians.
A lot more in this case. Not just Ennio. But also Edda Dell’Orso. Let's not forget about her too.
And in the case of the Danish Symphony, Tuva Semmingsen was also there.
Ennio Morricone es la prueba de lo maravillosos que puede llegar a ser un ser humano.
Everyone is talking about John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Ennio Morricone was a league above.
@@tannhauser5399 what are you talking about, its ENNIO MORRICONE THE COMPOSER of this masterpiece,
As a Dane , im so proud of our DNSO, they are so talented, and they have done so many versions of movie scores AND videogames music...
@Galantus1964: You should be proud. They are absolutely one of the world's premier orchestras!
@@PercyPruneMHDOIFandBarsI second that extremely talented group of musicians performing perfectly in rhythm and time
R.I.P. maestro Ennio Morricone 🙇♀️
Would be such a dream to be a part of the DNSO. The ultimate dream job, I swear to god. As good as this sounds, PLAYING in an orchestra is a billion times more euphoric! Like, you would not believe how wonderful and fun it is.
All you people who were in band know what I mean. Well, at least, starting in high school, upper band where people had at least a bit of talent.
@@65alef Your experience brings a tear to the eyes of an old man who, when this movie was released in cinemas, was then old enough to drive a date to see it and was deeply impressed with the soundtrack [I bought the 8-track rendition of all of his spaghetti western theme songs] - I envy you because I have wished I could have attended an Ennio Morricone concert. Yes, R.I.P. Maestro!!
The Danish National Symphony is great. I grew up watching all the spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood. I absolutely love all the theme songs from them. I have the "Hugo Montenegro" version doing all the theme songs (A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More & The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Hang 'Em High) on record & on cd. It is one of my favorite albums.
Sou brasileiro. A versão de Montenegro para The good, The bad and the good é absolutamente espantosa. Linda demais. Eu tenho ainda em um LP antigo esta versão. Ele tinha ascendência italiana. A perfeição musical no DNA.
Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, or even Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. Italian westerns are way better than their acclaim in the 60s/70s. I daresay they are better than their American counterparts of that time. Sergio Leone was a god of a director, and Ennio Morricone's are unmatched. Well, by Nino Rota's, maybe.
The second half of this is from the Cemetery scene in the movie, One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written!
I honestly believe that the second movement is the most Epic soundtrack ever put to a movie. As Tuco runs around the cemetery it is just perfect and awesome!
Yes the second movement is called Extasy of Gold and it's the most emotional piece I have ever heard
'Ecstasy' really shines as it represents Tuco's Gold Fever growing faster and faster as he searches for the grave of Arch Stanton in that massive cemetery. It starts out slow as it gets its bearings, but accelerates as his heart beats faster. So epic in its styling.
"Arch Stanton?!"
@@MarkTheMoroseArch Stanton is the name Blondie gave Tuco as the name on the grave where the gold was instead of the actual grave since Blondie didn't trust Tuco for good reason
@@spike3082 Yes, I was quoting Tuco, sounding doubtful about the name Blondie told him.
The Dollars trilogy - Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965) and The Good , the Bad and the Ugly (1966) are each stand-alone stories so you don't have to watch them in order. Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone brought a surprisingly effective Mediterranean feel to their Westerns. Hence the term "Spaghetti Westerns." Another epic Morricone track is The Wild Horde from My Name Is Nobody (1973).
Don't miss the best movies - Once Upon A Time In The West and Duck, You Sucker!.
The Good, the bad and the ugly best western of all time and one of the greatest movie general of all time,Ennio Morricone greatest movie composer of all time, period.
"Guns for San Sebastian", starring Anthony Quinn, is another pretty good western from that era that has a brilliant score by Ennio Morricone.
A Little known fact is the Ennio Morricone did the sound track for the movie The Untouchables in 1987 for which he was nominated for and won the the Oscar for best soundtrack for a feature film. So even though he is known for his western genre he showed that he is a very capable composer and maestro.
Senza dimenticare ONCE UPONE A TIME THE WEST
E GIÙ LA TESTA
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is a 1966 Italian epic spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood as "the Good", Lee Van Cleef as "the Bad", and Eli Wallach as "the Ugly." This musical masterpiece is the score for the movie. It was written by Ennio Morricone, an Italian composer whose wildly inventive soundtracks made him a revered figure in international cinema.
*A must watch.*
As always, enjoying your reactions.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tuva (female vocalist) is singing in unison with a harmonica player.
SO many people miss that, drives me nuts....
Yeah most miss that. It can be seen at 4:14 in the video
@@ffjsb So what? That kind of comment drives me nuts..
@@Vinterfrid Another Troll heard from...
You need to watch the movie now to understand from where it comes. It reoccurs in many movies (mostly in small segments) and it invokes strong feelings with just a note or two.
The sound beneath the "Wah-wah-wah" of the lady's voice is a muted harmonica....and yes, this is the signature song from one of the most iconic westerns ever made.
Regarding listening to classical music, you might want to note that many artists and bands have taken inspiration from the chord progressions and musical themes which originate in classical pieces. Remember: inspiration can come from *anywhere*.
Well done sir, it's been bugging me for a little while.
There is a harmonica accompanying her as she is doing the "whaa whaa". It shows a very brief clip of him during the performance
Her voice is harmonizing with a harmonica that you only see once for a brief second. It's not a case of footpeddling her voice.
Music obviously has a great ability to move us emotionally but there's something special about symphonic and classical music that hits a part of us deeper or different. It's quite wonderful the peace & emotion it brings. Great reaction.
Of course the 4:30 part is also the epic start of every Metallica concert since i can remember.
Seeing a live performance by a symphony orchestra is really Epic. You have 100 musicians coordinating their playing to sound like a single unit. It is fascinating to watch each section doing their part.
Morricone is legendary, too many brilliant movies scores to even count. For me Morricone and Nino Rota were the best ever.
You can add John Williams on the best list too.
@ericandrson8886 - no questions about it. But also, let's never forget about Edda Dell’Orso.
You are 100% correct!
@@MrTech226 Everybody praises John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Legitimately, of course. But Ennio Morricone, yes, and Nino Rota were a league above.
If you don't believe it, just listen to the soundtracks of Once Upon a Time in the West and The Godfather, respectively.
Cinema Paradiso - his best ever!
Yes, a classical music concert with a good orchestra is something every human on earth should experience at least once in their lifetime. Music sings without words, & the human voice is the greatest musical instrument of all. Thanks for your reaction to this masterpiece.
What I love about this soundtrack is if you KNOW the movie that it comes from, all you have to do is simply close your eyes and at SOME point, you will mentally visualize the sweeping landscapes, the barren wastes, the thrill of the "posse" as well as the "nomadic Native American lifestyle" without having to leave your seat.
Don't forget: this is just part of the experience. You should also watch the movie. It's a great combination!
Edit: Also: Metallica has been using the Ecstasy of Gold (the second part 04:30-8:05) as their warm up sung before every show since 1983.
It's not just you Millie, this song is truly... EPIC!
Also, I don't know if you missed it or just didn't want to comment, but at several different places you can see a 'dummy' hanging from a rope. That just makes this even more EPIC to bring the movie to this particular performance.
DNSo's performance efforts are epic. The beginning of the James Bond one was typical of them.
I was equally amazed. Effect on a simple descant recorder. The vocals. Wah.wah. choir all of it. Absolutely amazing!
This music pushed the movie from very good, to great.
Her voice and harmonica together and you got the waaah waaaah waaaah
The wa-wa lady is singing with a harmonic player next to her. You can hear it pretty easily.
Next try Oktaf Kanis - Come On thank you Millie 💕
great to hear n c vis track after seeing v film in v 70s as a kid, seing v music come to life was a treat. enjoyed ur wonder.
Please watch the film and listen to the incredible score of what should be the greatest film score ever written. The showdown at the cemetery is considered one of the greatest moments in cinematic history.
I wanted to add the sheer joy on your face watching this music was priceless, you looked like a kid looking through the glass of a candy store. Bravo...
I've seen a lot of your rock music videos and loved your enthusiasm in most all the music you've experienced from my youth. When I saw this one pop up I was excited to see if you would just enjoy it somewhat or a lot. So many goosebumps and epics, safe to say you really did experience something new and intriguing. I hope you'll check out more of this orchestra, they covered a wide range of movie music to give you more goosebumps and epic feelings.
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra has an amazing playlist. Tuva Semmingsen, the Wa Wa singer, is phenomenal in Once Upon A Time In The West. You should check it out. Great reaction.
So epic!! I love pop or rock music accompanied by an orchestra.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Italian: Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo, literally "The good, the ugly, the bad") is a 1966 Italian epic spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood as "the Good", Lee Van Cleef as "the Bad", and Eli Wallach as "the Ugly".[9] Its screenplay was written by Age & Scarpelli, Luciano Vincenzoni, and Leone (with additional screenplay material and dialogue provided by an uncredited Sergio Donati),[10] based on a story by Vincenzoni and Leone. Director of photography Tonino Delli Colli was responsible for the film's sweeping widescreen cinematography, and Ennio Morricone composed the film's score, including its main theme. It was an Italian-led production with co-producers in Spain, West Germany, and the United States. Most of the filming took place in Spain.
That's two different tracks from the sound track. The first part was the theme from the movie, the second movement is titled "The Ecstacy Of Gold".
LOVE your reaction. 🎉🎉🎉
Milli Mochi, Milli Mochi, if you never have seen the good, the bad and the ugly? I give you a challenge. 1. Get this movie (one of the actors is Clint Eastwood) 2. invite your band or some of them 3. Buy or make a huge mountain of popcorn 4. Buy enough soda/mixes because the movie is 2,5 hours! 5. Plan an evening, make the extra moviesnacks, popcorn together and watch. The music is epic, but the movie is a real western legend!
Great reaction! Truly a classic song!
If you are interested, there is a video by the DR Konserthuset called "the Good, The Bad and the Ugly, reactions and singers" in which Tuva Semmingsen (the "wah wah lady") and Christine Nonbo Andersen (the soprano) talk about themselves and this recording. Well worth a watch. Also, another piece by Ennio Morricone performed by this orchestra is " Once Upon A Time In The West".
pure epicness it is. the music of the legendary ennio morricone for me is the most appealing film music.
This sound is epic!!! Goose bumps is Mode ON!!!
I saw/heard this Orchestra in May, featuring Eivør and Einar Selvik. It WAS epic:)
This was your BEST VIDEO! The reaction on face was real 👍🎉✨!
Morricone is legendary, he's not gonna die any more, cause heaven needs him period
I loved your reaction to this, it's one of my favourite western movies. You should definitely watch the movie
I saw this movie on the big screen cinema around 1968 and I got massive goose bumps then !!
You are not alone !!!
Your Intermezzo: ...and PERFECTION!
Love your reactions! And I love how big your eyes and smile get too!
I was fortunate to attend the DSO in Copenhagen last year and found the live performance to be even more amazing than the video. I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance.
The blossom decoration on your mic his honestly so cool.
I don’t usually listen to classical either, but this was as you say epic. I do selectively have a few classical pieces on my iPod. It always a treat when one comes on when I shuffle songs, like a treat for the ears.
Now 76 and that is my favorite western and one of my favorite movies.
I play it for my grandson, 7, and granddaughter, 4.
I call the soprano lady, "the lady who can break glass with her voice".
After the first time the boy heard it, he said, "Grampa, she pumps my heart !"
And then I knew he had appreciation. And always will.
The woman making the "wa waaaa" sounds had the best assignment. ;)
I love Millie's reactions! Lovely!
Learning to drive. Learning bass. Learning piano. Plus there's a band. And a couple of UA-cam channels. I can't imagine you ever get bored.
When the lady is singing *WAH - WAH - WAH* there is also a harmonica being played in the same notes, and that is what creates that unique sound. There is no other electronic enhancement.
Good luck with your driving, Millie.. go safely, m'dear.
As for your reaction and this video, both are 'epic!'
WE ALL got goosebumps when we first heard this music as we watched this movie in the theaters back in the day.
After listening to this maybe watch the movie of the same title starring Clint Eastwood.
My favourite movie of all time. Even bought Morricone’s soundtrack.
Great reaction. Tuva is the waw waw lady mostly her voice but you notice the harmonica backing her in another part of the video. By the way - watch some other DNSO where Tuva is featured vocalist - she is amazing!
What I love is that - Not a single actual word sung that I can recognize, but this conveys such strong human emotiom - I tear up many times when watching.
Been a fan of this music since the movie came out when I was 5 yrs old and still today - DNSO performance is the best I have heard/seen!
The MANDALORIAN // Danish National Symphony Orchestra (LIVE)
is popular now, when my grandson is 4 years old. This is his favorite and he will request it when I play symphonic music on UA-cam
I've never heard this live, but for the first time ever I attended the BBC Proms this year (2023) at the Royal Albert Hall. I heard Holst's The Planets, Ravel's Bolero and music from 2001: A Space Odyssey (Ligeti's Requiem and Lux aeterna, followed by Richard Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra). Listening to these pieces live with orchestra and singers is just so much better than anything UA-cam can give you.
Had the privilege to see Maestro Morricone perform this live and it was worth more for the price of the ticket
I have watched this performance often, and it's beyond epic, and does the movie (and original) justice.
I've seen the Boston Symphony Orchestra 3 times when I was in High School many years ago. There is nothing like it. I was a rocker who didn't like classical music, but those experiences changed my life.
This is from the movie “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach. It was directed by Sergio Leone, and started a whole new genre of western movies they called “ spaghetti westerns”
Haven’t seen the Danish orchestra but saw a similar perrformance as a “Man with no name medley” from Lalo Schifrin who composed music for movies and tv himself (such as mission impossible).
Loved watching your reactions as the song progressed and the different instruments and voices came in.
Classical/Rock/Grunge/Pop/Opera/Jazz, it doesn't matter. It is art bringing people of all walks of life together. The best part is the cross over between the genres where people recognise the beauty in those other genres without having to be a fan.
Like reading a fiction book, you might not be a fan of crime novels but you can still appreciate the author's writing techniques.
I love your voice, its so unique and so interesting, and I just love it!,and I love you Millie Mochi.
The way wah is backed by a harmonica mimicking her.
Wonderful musician's reaction :) Welcome to the "In the Know" club
They also do a fantastic version of the Queen classic Who Wants to Live Forever from the movie Highlander
Since you like this one, you'll love the theme song by the same group from another spaghetti western from Sergio Leone - *Once Upon A Time In The West*
Watching Spaghetti Westerns as a kid introduced me to the beauty & genius that is Morricone
Great reaction! - now you need to watch some of the films
Now you got to see the movie. Considered not just on of the Greatest western of all time but one of the Greatest Movies of all time as well.
Looking beautiful as always Millie
Hi Millie, great and genuine reaction ! First of all...the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is really incredible, they gave a "next to perfection" rendition of the Morricone's masterpiece...sincerely fantastic. I heard many other pieces of music played by them and they're all wonderful and creative versions of the relative originals. Second...I have to say I still prefer, "for an inch", the original movie soundtrack...the score was, in my opinion, perfectly dipped in the musical atmosphere of the times...the 60s...with rock music goin' on full speed. You can especially hear it in the sound of the guitars, which was dirty, distorted, altered, wild...I can't find the right definition, but that sound was not easy to build and that sound made all the difference !!! Anyway, this was part of the score of the film "THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY" -1966.....once you heard it, you can't avoid listening to the soundtracks of the other Sergio Leone/Ennio Morricone's spaghetti westerns: "A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS" -1964, "FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE" -1965, "ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST" -1968 (this is mandatory !!) and also "DUCK, YOU SUCKER ! -1971. Enjoy yourself !
Millie, I recommend to Come On by Oktaf Kanis
That really was pure epicness and awesomeness
Here are the lyrics:
"Yo,yo,yo,echo!
Yo,yo,yo,echo!
Yo,yo,yo,echo!"
You're welcome!😁
BTW, I love it when you say, "It sounds so western! Well, what I imagine western sounds like!".
I do believe that the Italian Westerns became what most of the world thought the American West was like, romantic, adventurous and wild with chivalry a lost art and where men slapped girls and kissed horses.
In reality, that was about 80% right! 😆
John Wayne once called Clint Eastwood to talk about the Italian movies he was in and he told Clint he didn't like them because the movies weren't about family based men building a new world, and the movies were savage and mean.
Clint tried to explain it to John but gave up and said, "I hear what you are saying but these are the roles I like to play.".
Clint said in an interview, "John and I are of two different generations and I was never going to convince him to accept the new movies.".
Which movies are more indictive of the real old west?
Neither probably but the Italian West had far better music, so I'll go with that one. 🤠
I've had the movie on TV probably a dozen times. My wife always gets on my back when I have it on again until I tell her I'm not watching the movie, I'm listening to the soundtrack.
Millie you have just listened to the sound track to arguably the best western in history ! You should be proud of the fact that it was produced and directed by an Italian. And the soundtrack you are listening to is one of the most iconic soundtracks in history produced by an Italian. Although it had some American actors I think if you get the opportunity to watch the film you will not be disappointed !!
This blasted the Great Clint Eastwood into certain fame at the time and his partnership with Eli Wallach (TUCO) was timeless !!!!! Plz watch it closely !!!
I like so much The Danish National Symphony! I suggest you react to NARNIA suite // The Danish National Symphony Orchestra (Live) video. Is pure magic! The deep magic from Narnia, of course.
I am a massive fan of Clint Eastwood and westerns, and have been for as long as I can remember. Some of the classics of the 60s had some pretty epic scores, and Morricone was a staple of that with the Spaghetti westerns. Also worth checking out is the Elmer Bernstein theme to the Magnificent seven.
I was not even born when this came out but grew up in the 70s and 80s, and it did not matter if you had seen the film or not, you knew the theme to it. If you talked about westerns, the first thing that most people would do is hum this theme, its that iconic.
The film is great, but may not be for everyone, especially considering its age and length. It's a slow burner, but when the action hits it really hits. All three main actors are iconic in their roles as well.
Ecstasy of Gold (alias Tuco's running) is my favorite by far. So beautiful !!!
nice reaction, thank you for making it :)
I love to see you young ones appreciate the sound of a symphony orchestra. I have heard most of the famous orchestras, and they are real good. But none of them come close to the balance and sound of the Danish National. Ennio Morricone composed some great music, but this performance highlighted how great.
I watch / listen to this at least once per month and it always moves me (die hard Pink Floyd fan here).
the name of the 2nd song in this video is "Ecstasy of Gold" (L'estasi dell'Oro)...
imho the best performance i have seen so far is from an open air concert in Venice, Italy .... conducted by the composer ennio morricone himself.... awesome solo singer, choir and arrangement.... hint: turn up the volume 🙂
just search for "Ennio Morricone - L'estasi dell'Oro (In Concerto - Venezia 10.11.07)" on youtube...
I don't listen to classical music either but I knew this theme music from the movie which interested me into watching this Danish orchestra some years ago and it brought back the scenes from the movie this music was from and I'd like to add that the director of that movie was also Italian, Sergio Lenone, and it was one of the best westerns ever made hands down, and yes, if you get a chance to watch it you ought to because it's unforgetable.
Every Christmas I would see Handel's Messiah at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. It never got old.
Please, please, please go! Run! to the symphony! It is EPIC!
Hi Millie, the 'wah wah' vocal is a mix of the singers voice and a harmonica (see at 4:15). In the second part the 'wah wah' is the voice alone, so you will hear the difference.
I'm from Bolivia 🇧🇴, and I tell that you have to discover a lot of beautiful melodies by the maestro Morricone, and every movie that have the luck of having a partiture of this genius, is remembered if not by its own merits, at least for the music.
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra is certainly worth looking into.
They have done many shows with game music, tv shows and Fantasy. Game of Thrones, LOTR so on.
Lot of gems among them.
Actually this Classic Western Film was recorded in an area in Spain, but with a few, true American actors as the main performers. But both the brilliant Instructor, Sergio Leone and the Music came from Italy, and they made a real Masterpiece in this genre!! To my knowledge Composer, Ennio Morricone never saw the film but made the fantastic score only from asking! And shortly before he died, he gave a Concert in Copenhagen, so I do hope that some of the musicians from here, were also present?
And as also a Dane I am very proud of this extreme, and much watched, Danish/Norwegian performance 😄!
The Oboe, clearly seen at a time, should be a very difficult instrument to adjust to sound fine, with two wooden blades as the mouth piece?
The good, the bad and the ugly is an epic spaghetti werstern, crammed full of epic oneliners, haunting music and unforgettable characters. The three actors behind main characters in the movie were Clint Eastwood (the good), Lee Van Cliff (the bad) and Eli Wallach (the ugly)
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Ecstasy of gold. Now reaction to Once upon a time in the west, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso and The Man With the Harmonica
It's a shame that so many only react to this one performance. This was only 1 of the many songs they did at this show. The others are worth a watch as well.
totally agree other two great scores comes to mind: mission and duck you sucker aka A Fistful of Dynamite aka Once Upon a Time ... the Revolution
Millie please do Come On by Oktaf Kanis, pleaseee! 🙏🏻❤
Cheers from Denmark yeah they are world class they did a series of movie themes etc etc etc video games and more concerts😀
as italian I'm very happy to listen your reaction to our beloved Ennio Morricone's great song 😘 grazie Millie
