On the one hand, it of course just means you betrayed his trust and you were the last person he expected to do it. But also, that your goodness was an escape for him and helping restore his faith in humanity as a whole. Which is kind of a lot to put on a person in a way. (Because at some point Tav/Durge would have made a mistake and hurt him somehow because no one is perfect, and it's inevitable in any relationship. Just hopefully not cheating...) And that means, with this action, not only did you betray him and undo much of his learning to trust people again. But you also are proving him right when he thinks that people are inherently bad. Talk about doing some serious damage. 💔😥
Larian's head writer said once that Astarion has "trouble with communicating" and it just never meshed with how he is actually written in the game. Lines like that seem to communicate a lot very clearly
the 'deception' in this case was saying she manipulated you into it, which she didn't. If you go into her it's your choice. If you are going to do again, it's up to you.
while i wish they gave some of the other companions more content (most specifically Wyll), im really happy they changed this. it was always so weird that he basically was like “hell yeah! get your pussy wet!!” about his s/o literally cheating on him with the devil that owns their friends soul…
I personally think it's wild that Mizora, his literal soul slaver, has a love scene while Wyll, who is a ROMANTIC option companion, doesn't have one... Larian's priorities :\

Wyll is such a good character that they threw to the side. It doesn't even need to be an explicit scene, but he should be getting romantic get-aways and other scenes/convos that other companions are rife with.
Oh no. Its missing one of my favorite dialogues. If you failed the persuasion check to put the blame on Mizora, Astarion has a heartbreaking line of "Don't lie to me..." And he breaks up with you.

I appreciate this character development in him. I have to say though, the answer he gave before the update - where he's basically saying "I don't blame you - I'd have done the same thing, given the chance" - is very suitable for Ascended Astarion.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this dialogue only triggers if you sleep with Mizora *after* defeating Cazador and choosing not to ascend Astarion. He has different dialogue if you ascend him or if you haven't done the Cazador mission yet, as far as I know.
@@pixxie643 every comment I've seen by deadpan snarker is them freaking out defensively about AA, I'm pretty sure they just dive through the comments of Astarion-related videos looking for something to be mad about. They cannot handle people having different opinions than them. They also like to tell people Spawn and Ascendant are the same exact person with no differences while clearly favoring one over the other, because *gasp* they're actually very different. Like no shit they're the same person, that doesn't mean they still can't develop differently based on their experiences. They clearly have different world-views depending on which way you push them, it's not hard to grasp that lol. Shadowheart is also the same person whether you push her towards or away from Shar, she still turns out very differently depending.
AFAIK, unless they changed it for AA as well, the original was always meant to be either a pre-Cazador or Ascended Astarion line. The only time Astarion finally sees sex for more than anything than lust or control is his spawn route post-Cazador.

I would never do this in any playthrough but I'm so happy tbey fixed this. It really emphasizes that Astarion's love for the player is REAL by the time you get to act 3. I still see so many people question how genuine his love is for the player and I can't understand it because it's so apparent to me. His line about how people can change even if they never thought they could is so profound for him. And his reaction here vs when ascended is also very interesting and there's a whole bunch you can interpret from him based how both versions react. Thanks for sharing.
GOD, this is so good. I'm so glad they changed this. I always felt the original just lacked - - especially if you had already progressed his personal quest. The original felt contradictory to how far he had already come by the time that this encounter is possible. This though? This feels correct.
I always flip back and forth on whether to romance Astarion or Shadowheart. I like how romancing Shadowheart starts off much slower and sweeter, but Astarion in Act 3 after all his character development is SOOO good.

It affected me emotionally so that I could still cry after a year. and my obsession is quite noticeable on this channel. Btw I can recommend the no romance limit mod. you can romance all at the same time
I'm just now romancing Shadowheart in my 5th playthrough, after romancing Astarion three times (I have a type), then Gale. My character is a cleric of Selune. I'm in act 1 and it is not going well, lol. Not sure how I'll turn it around in time to progress the romance in act 2.

There was some data mined dialogue that leaked months ago and this was verbatim how the conversation was. I’m glad they changed it. This feels more genuine to his character development. My only complaint is that there’s no unique dialogue if you turn Mizora and Halsin down. Dude would be over the moon (and surprised) that you didn’t betray his trust, that you proved him wrong that not everyone is out for themselves. I just think it’s a missed opportunity. 🤷🏼♀️ I won’t lie- my first play through, I wasn’t planning to romance anyone, just experience the plot. Astarion, Shadowheart, and Lae’zel were my least favorite character initially. I misread a dialogue option at the Tiefling party and ended up romancing Astarion on accident. 😂 His character development is legitimately one of the best in any game I’ve ever played. Now, the 3 I disliked most are the ones I like the most. So… I guess, yay for misunderstanding dialogue? 😆

@@G.F.SF55 Trust with him is a fine line. He spends most of the game believing everyone is out for themselves, and if you make the right choices, he starts to genuinely trust you. Example: not pushing him to bite Araj tells him that you don’t see him as a means to an end, a tool to gain power. He’s surprised that you prioritize his bodily autonomy over a legendary potion. Until you complete his personal quest, he half expects you to betray him based on his past experiences. So I do believe him being over the moon when you choose him and his feelings over your own pleasures would be an accurate statement. Larian writers did a brilliant job of incorporating psychology into each character’s development. 🤷🏼♀️
Hmmm as much as I love to see Astarion to be over the moon about things, anything really. I don't think player should get extra point for not cheating, I mean, not cheating is like most basic commitment of any relationship....
In my play through, Astarion didn’t say anything to my character after. Just “Hope I wasn’t interrupting.” And then the cutscene ended. Like nothing happened.
"Like you wouldn't have jumped at the chanse!" Maam, he has literally told you he don’t wanna have sex right now. Especially not casual hookups. Did you not listen, or did you just think that he lied?xD

It's amazing that you rarely see this deeper character development. only some dialogues like this let it show. or that who he cares about Jenna, the darling boy, the 'dont become his' . No wonder many consider Astarion to be only evil, they didn't have seen these deep dialogues. or do not analyze them in the context of his story. Guys, give this man something real, no more performances😢
I remember back when these lines were first datamined there was a deception failure response I liked where he snaps "don't lie to me!" to the player. I wonder if it got cut or maybe it's hidden behind other conditions? 😯

I like this update. I never liked how he was pretty flippant about the player cheating with Mizora pre-patch, especially if you were on a good run with him.
aghh this is heartbreaking but soooo good 😭 the pre patch response was just weird tbh… the difference between the halsin and mizora scenarios is asking for consent!!
I am so glad they added consequences to that interaction with Mizora. His character already has so much depth. It didn't make sense for him to just not care, nor did it make sense for the player to not encounter a consequence.
I've seen versions of this situation where Astarion agrees that he would bang Mizora if he had the chance, and is geeking out with Tav about "how was it?", and overall being alright with it. Is patch 7 replacing those responses, or does this mean his response is dependent on how close or developed Tav's relationship with Astarion is when this happens?
while this is a much better fit for spawn Astarion, it's hard to feel anything but "oh, wow, MORE Astarion content... yay" Meanwhile all this patch gave Wyll was one bugged dialog change (--___--)

He’s so upset at the accusation that he went invisible! Can’t leave without giving a good scolding, so he’s not visible but still scolds. So mad he doesn’t even want Tav to see him.
I was not understanding Astarion's process enough in my 1st run. I was test-romancing Mizora(& Halsin) to see what Astarion would say, I truly am surprised by Astarion being so hurt by my actions, or why he felt okay to Halsin's approach. I am still trying to understand his though process on what made him fell for Tav, but I definitely fall for him more after understanding him. Astarion is my baby girl, and I will protect him at all costs.

Fun fact - ascended Astarion is totally chill with this Sad fact - non-ascended Astarion is the *only* companion in this scene whom you CAN manipulate into forgiving you with deception/persuasion. Everyone else is either fine with it or will break up no matter what. It's just little old Astarion that is desperate enough to believe your obvious lies. By the way, weirdly, it looks like you can also get the roll success WITHOUT having to roll persuasion/deception by just choosing the "I'm sorry. I truly am." after saying "Don't be like that, it didn't mean anything." That node jumps directly to the success role tree, meaning he goes "I don't know if I should believe you, but I do." Might be a bug, but it's a sad thought to think that he's just that desperate.
Larian is still changing things up with Mizora one year after release but they won't add a single reaction of your companions if you sleep with the Emperor 😭 jfc man we just want to be acknowledged as it's partner
How would they know? It happens in Tav's or Durge's dream. Or do you want a special option, where you can "confess" to or brag about a sex dream with the Emperor? :D Edit: I laughed hard in one playthrough, when Orpheus blabbered it out in front of the whole party. I agree that there should be at least a few disgusted looks in response at this point.
@@atheisticcreatures the Emperor's romance overall is very poorly implemented, there's barely any continuity about it, it's like the game forgets you start a relationship with it. Very frustrating to people that like him. They added the "I'll make sure they don't remember a thing" later, but it's a bandaid over a gaping wound, it still doesn't fix the problem that the game doesn't acknowledge you two together. :( all I want is to it's romance to be treated the same as the others.
@@junpeidaman I see, thanks for the explanation. I guess I never interpreted it as a romantic relationship, because to me the scene is just a one night stand in a dream. I saw it as something Tav / Durge explored with Emp out of curiosity, and from Emp's side maybe out of longing for that kind of contact after all the sentimental memories. But I understand that it would bother players who see it as the beginning of a relationship that nothing happens after the scene.

Astarion getting rightfully angry about the player character cheating on him does not disprove that he's OK with a poly relationship. Cheating is not polyamory. Astarion is OK with poly because he says he is, at least with Halsin at that point in the game. Probably because, as he stated in the scene, "Halsin has a lot of experience with this kind of arrangements." Astarion is clearly compatible of speaking up for himself if he wasn't OK with it
I don't think she's ok with cheating, you can tell she's very much upset by it, she just doesn't make a huge fuss about it because she doesn't want to lose Tav (and probably has really messed up perceptions of what a healthy relationship looks like due to her time in a cult). But I do think it would've been nice if she had a stronger reaction like this.
He wasn't against player having fun with twins, he only didn't want to participate himself. Mizora is the only one he's not ok with because the player does it behind his back
I really, really don’t like the way him being compelled to do awful things during VAMPIRIC ENSLAVEMENT is compared to Tav making bad/mean choices of their own free will. He even kind of does it himself. It’s just not the same thing. Even just a regular slave listening to their enslaver isn’t the same thing as consciously making a bad choice. It’s survival mode. Astarion actually can take the moral high ground here because while he’s done a lot of horrible things, during mind controlled slavery, cheating wasn’t one of them.
What Larian should’ve done: let us give Mizora the nod, then let us go straight to Karlach and hatch a plan with her for an absolutely humiliating surprise for Mizora.
@@im4400 Just because someone is polyamorous doesn't mean cheating is okay. With Halsin you ask Astarion beforehand and he can ask you why you want it. With Mizora you went behind his back.

It's always about delivering a performance and satisfying others. But during the adventure (with an understanding tav) he can allow these feelings again and even wants to (he says that during the confession scene) A character is always just a tool to tell a story, and that story is about trauma.

Same, honestly. I feel his previous reaction was more in line with his character. If they wanted to make his personal growth clearer they could have just added something along the line "just tell me before you do it" (don't remember if it was there before the patch) or mentioning how this is not really fair for Wyll.
@@OonalovesAstarionssimpleplan because I guessed that Astarion is ok with poly (think about Halsin or the drows which are two things that are likely to happen before this scene) but he and Tav never had a conversation about the limits of their relationship. So it makes sense for him to say "Look I know we are open, but I want you to tell me before/this is not what I had in mind". Like I am even ok with them arguing about it, or explaining this precise point, but this dialogue seems to lack something and a bit incoherent with his characterization. Also because from the dialogue it's difficult to understand if he's disappointed because it's Mizora (thus betraying Wyll and implying he now trusts the others which is great) or because you didn't tell him anything. In this sense, if he mentioned Wyll, this reaction would be more fitting, but if does it because you didn't speak with him I think that the exchange that I previously wrote ("you could have told me before") would be more in line with his character. That's why I think it's lame. There are some points which are not addressed clearly.
This change kind of confuses me - astarian is on board with the sharing with halsin, but mizora. Don’t get me wrong I am very aware of how morally different the two are from each other so maybe it’s simply that. But on a ‘you slept with another person and I’m angry for that’ stand point it confuses me a tad. Also, disclaimer I am a very monogamous person, I do not know much about polyamory so maybe I’m just not privy to the ways some poly people do things.
@@awknAngel Polyamorous doesn't mean that ceating is ok. Cheating is still a breach of trust. with Halsin you ask beforehand, and he can ask you why you want that? to come to terms with it. One of his arguments is 'I thought you were better than other', you shouldn't forget his past. His story is about trauma (also sexual) many think that he is a sex beast, but he admits to you that he only did sex for a purpose and thst he didn't enjoy it, but now he wants something real. and you agree and then sleep with others behind his back?
poly you make an agreement and all parties agree to enter a relationship just going off and have sex with whoever you want is cheating unless it's an open relationship(aka you both agree to hook up with whoever outside the relationship), cheating is not okay poly is just like being in a normal relationship except with another partner or multiple partners, you still don't go outside of the relationship unless all parties agree to add them to the relationship and again it's a relationship, not hook up i think you are thinking of an open relationship, not a poly one
I think with Halsin it was only bc they added his romance so late. But if you wanna look at it in character, I think it's bc he knows halsin is older + wise and wouldn't use you just for your body. Tbh, I don't think he's fine with anyone else being with his s/o, he just agrees to Halsin bc re:above and so he doesn't lose you
Im not sure, i like this Change with Astarion. Shadowheart and Astarion were the only two romances, where you can sleep with Mizora without Regret. I mean, its not wrong to say, you as Tav betray his Trust, but you can have a second Romance with Halsin with his Approval. i really dont see a difference in this two Situations. Of course, when you sleep with Halsin, you ask him before. But ok. I hope, they have not change Shadowhearts Behavior as well in this Situation.
The old reaction is for Ascended Astarion, they just added a new one for Spawn. But the difference is consent. Halsin says he doesn't want to do anything without your partner's consent. He personally prefers open relationships, but he respects that not everyone feels the same as him. Mizora wants you to go behind your partner's back and tells you “what they don't know won't hurt them.” Then, after, she makes sure your partner knows to cause drama. When you think about Astarion's storyline, the difference between the two situations is obvious. The two romance options who are fine with it are Halsin and Ascended Astarion. Shadowheart isn't as mad as other companions, but not happy about it either.
This sound so...fake. In compare with previous juicy "i want to know details". They could have and they should have given Wyll more story and details. And instead they decide to ruin already fan favourite. Lame
I agree Wyll deserves more content, but this is more restoring a bugged scene that was already in the game rather than adding more content. The "I want to know the details" version is what says when ascended and being fake. I don't think the scene ruins him at all if anything if emphasizes that his feelings by act 3 are real, which for some reason I still see tons of people questioning to this day.
Finally, so glad the added this! Though I hate that with Mizora you can't simply ASK your partner like you can do when Halsin propositions you, like why?? 🥲I know Mizora asks for your answer on the spot, but there could be still an opportunity to initially agree, then talk to your partner and in case they say no, tell Mizora you changed your mind when she appears at night.
Maybe because they want to show how Astarion reacts when you betray his trust. Why another dialogue like: 'hey, can I sleep with someone else? that would be lame imo

@@ohnoski_I think it's because that's not what Mizora wants. She wants to have fun, and causing problems for your relationship is probably part of the fun for her. Like, if you tell her you already have a partner her response is basically “what they don't know won't hurt them”... And then in the morning you get caught and she leaves you to deal with the fallout by yourself. Halsin is willing to wait until you talk to your partner, because he knows healthy communication is important. Mizora isn't like that.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this dialogue only triggers if you sleep with Mizora *after* defeating Cazador and choosing not to ascend Astarion. He has different dialogue if you ascend him or if you haven't done the Cazador mission yet, as far as I know.
@@pixxie643 every comment I've seen by deadpan snarker is them freaking out defensively about AA, I'm pretty sure they just dive through the comments of Astarion-related videos looking for something to be mad about. They cannot handle people having different opinions than them. They also like to tell people Spawn and Ascendant are the same exact person with no differences while clearly favoring one over the other, because *gasp* they're actually very different.
Like no shit they're the same person, that doesn't mean they still can't develop differently based on their experiences. They clearly have different world-views depending on which way you push them, it's not hard to grasp that lol. Shadowheart is also the same person whether you push her towards or away from Shar, she still turns out very differently depending.
AFAIK, unless they changed it for AA as well, the original was always meant to be either a pre-Cazador or Ascended Astarion line. The only time Astarion finally sees sex for more than anything than lust or control is his spawn route post-Cazador.

I would never do this in any playthrough but I'm so happy tbey fixed this. It really emphasizes that Astarion's love for the player is REAL by the time you get to act 3. I still see so many people question how genuine his love is for the player and I can't understand it because it's so apparent to me. His line about how people can change even if they never thought they could is so profound for him. And his reaction here vs when ascended is also very interesting and there's a whole bunch you can interpret from him based how both versions react. Thanks for sharing.

I always felt the original just lacked - - especially if you had already progressed his personal quest. The original felt contradictory to how far he had already come by the time that this encounter is possible. This though? This feels correct.
I always flip back and forth on whether to romance Astarion or Shadowheart. I like how romancing Shadowheart starts off much slower and sweeter, but Astarion in Act 3 after all his character development is SOOO good.

I'm just now romancing Shadowheart in my 5th playthrough, after romancing Astarion three times (I have a type), then Gale. My character is a cleric of Selune. I'm in act 1 and it is not going well, lol. Not sure how I'll turn it around in time to progress the romance in act 2.
@@OonalovesAstarionssimpleplan I feel the exact same way about his confession scene in act 2. There were scenes in act 1 that drew me in, like the scars scene, but that confession was very emotionally impactful. I've been obsessed ever since.

There was some data mined dialogue that leaked months ago and this was verbatim how the conversation was. I’m glad they changed it. This feels more genuine to his character development. My only complaint is that there’s no unique dialogue if you turn Mizora and Halsin down. Dude would be over the moon (and surprised) that you didn’t betray his trust, that you proved him wrong that not everyone is out for themselves. I just think it’s a missed opportunity. 🤷🏼♀️
I won’t lie- my first play through, I wasn’t planning to romance anyone, just experience the plot. Astarion, Shadowheart, and Lae’zel were my least favorite character initially. I misread a dialogue option at the Tiefling party and ended up romancing Astarion on accident. 😂 His character development is legitimately one of the best in any game I’ve ever played. Now, the 3 I disliked most are the ones I like the most. So… I guess, yay for misunderstanding dialogue? 😆

@@G.F.SF55 Trust with him is a fine line. He spends most of the game believing everyone is out for themselves, and if you make the right choices, he starts to genuinely trust you. Example: not pushing him to bite Araj tells him that you don’t see him as a means to an end, a tool to gain power. He’s surprised that you prioritize his bodily autonomy over a legendary potion. Until you complete his personal quest, he half expects you to betray him based on his past experiences. So I do believe him being over the moon when you choose him and his feelings over your own pleasures would be an accurate statement. Larian writers did a brilliant job of incorporating psychology into each character’s development. 🤷🏼♀️
Hmmm as much as I love to see Astarion to be over the moon about things, anything really. I don't think player should get extra point for not cheating, I mean, not cheating is like most basic commitment of any relationship....

I've seen versions of this situation where Astarion agrees that he would bang Mizora if he had the chance, and is geeking out with Tav about "how was it?", and overall being alright with it. Is patch 7 replacing those responses, or does this mean his response is dependent on how close or developed Tav's relationship with Astarion is when this happens?

I was not understanding Astarion's process enough in my 1st run. I was test-romancing Mizora(& Halsin) to see what Astarion would say, I truly am surprised by Astarion being so hurt by my actions, or why he felt okay to Halsin's approach. I am still trying to understand his though process on what made him fell for Tav, but I definitely fall for him more after understanding him. Astarion is my baby girl, and I will protect him at all costs.

Sad fact - non-ascended Astarion is the *only* companion in this scene whom you CAN manipulate into forgiving you with deception/persuasion. Everyone else is either fine with it or will break up no matter what. It's just little old Astarion that is desperate enough to believe your obvious lies.
By the way, weirdly, it looks like you can also get the roll success WITHOUT having to roll persuasion/deception by just choosing the "I'm sorry. I truly am." after saying "Don't be like that, it didn't mean anything."
That node jumps directly to the success role tree, meaning he goes "I don't know if I should believe you, but I do."
Might be a bug, but it's a sad thought to think that he's just that desperate.

@@atheisticcreatures the Emperor's romance overall is very poorly implemented, there's barely any continuity about it, it's like the game forgets you start a relationship with it. Very frustrating to people that like him.
They added the "I'll make sure they don't remember a thing" later, but it's a bandaid over a gaping wound, it still doesn't fix the problem that the game doesn't acknowledge you two together.

I saw it as something Tav / Durge explored with Emp out of curiosity, and from Emp's side maybe out of longing for that kind of contact after all the sentimental memories. But I understand that it would bother players who see it as the beginning of a relationship that nothing happens after the scene.

Astarion getting rightfully angry about the player character cheating on him does not disprove that he's OK with a poly relationship. Cheating is not polyamory. Astarion is OK with poly because he says he is, at least with Halsin at that point in the game. Probably because, as he stated in the scene, "Halsin has a lot of experience with this kind of arrangements." Astarion is clearly compatible of speaking up for himself if he wasn't OK with it
Saying NO to Mizora was the easiest NO in the whole game :)
I hope that do this for Selune Shadowheart and make so she isn't okay with cheating and breaking her trust.

I don't think she's ok with cheating, you can tell she's very much upset by it, she just doesn't make a huge fuss about it because she doesn't want to lose Tav (and probably has really messed up perceptions of what a healthy relationship looks like due to her time in a cult). I really, really don’t like the way him being compelled to do awful things during VAMPIRIC ENSLAVEMENT is compared to Tav making bad/mean choices of their own free will. He even kind of does it himself. It’s just not the same thing.
Even just a regular slave listening to their enslaver isn’t the same thing as consciously making a bad choice. It’s survival mode. Astarion actually can take the moral high ground here because while he’s done a lot of horrible things, during mind controlled slavery, cheating wasn’t one of them.
What Larian should’ve done: let us give Mizora the nod, then let us go straight to Karlach and hatch a plan with her for an absolutely humiliating surprise for Mizora.
I wish there was a different version if you’d already had the poly conversation with Astarion

It is part of his character development that he slowly builds trust (In you) so it only makes sense that he is disappointed (in you) imo. And larian had this in the files dialog for a long time. it was just buggy before

@@ChangesOfTomorrow I think the writers have written the topic of trauma very consciously. the problem of suppressing your own needs, even forgetting them. It's always about delivering a performance and satisfying others. But during the adventure (with an understanding tav) he can allow these feelings again and even wants to (he says that during the confession scene) A character is always just a tool to tell a story, and that story is about trauma.
I actually really like this change 🤔 i mean, it is always weird that the original dialog kinda felt out of place after hearing about his back story and how he sold his body good change 😊

If they wanted to make his personal growth clearer they could have just added something along the line "just tell me before you do it" (don't remember if it was there before the patch) or mentioning how this is not really fair for Wyll.

@@OonalovesAstarionssimpleplan because I guessed that Astarion is ok with poly (think about Halsin or the drows which are two things that are likely to happen before this scene) but he and Tav never had a conversation about the limits of their relationship. So it makes sense for him to say "Look I know we are open, but I want you to tell me before/this is not what I had in mind". Like I am even ok with them arguing about it, or explaining this precise point, but this dialogue seems to lack something and a bit incoherent with his characterization. Also because from the dialogue it's difficult to understand if he's disappointed because it's Mizora (thus betraying Wyll and implying he now trusts the others which is great) or because you didn't tell him anything.
In this sense, if he mentioned Wyll, this reaction would be more fitting, but if does it because you didn't speak with him I think that the exchange that I previously wrote ("you could have told me before") would be more in line with his character. That's why I think it's lame. There are some points which are not addressed clearly.

This change kind of confuses me - astarian is on board with the sharing with halsin, but mizora.
Don’t get me wrong I am very aware of how morally different the two are from each other so maybe it’s simply that.
But on a ‘you slept with another person and I’m angry for that’ stand point it confuses me a tad.
Also, disclaimer I am a very monogamous person, I do not know much about polyamory so maybe I’m just not privy to the ways some poly people do things.
@@awknAngel Polyamorous doesn't mean that ceating is ok. Cheating is still a breach of trust. with Halsin you ask beforehand, and he can ask you why you want that? to come to terms with it. One of his arguments is 'I thought you were better than other', you shouldn't forget his past. His story is about trauma (also sexual) many think that he is a sex beast, but he admits to you that he only did sex for a purpose and thst he didn't enjoy it, but now he wants something real. and you agree and then sleep with others behind his back?
poly you make an agreement and all parties agree to enter a relationship
just going off and have sex with whoever you want is cheating
unless it's an open relationship(aka you both agree to hook up with whoever outside the relationship), cheating is not okay
poly is just like being in a normal relationship except with another partner or multiple partners, you still don't go outside of the relationship unless all parties agree to add them to the relationship and again it's a relationship, not hook up

Im not sure, i like this Change with Astarion. Shadowheart and Astarion were the only two romances, where you can sleep with Mizora without Regret. I mean, its not wrong to say, you as Tav betray his Trust, but you can have a second Romance with Halsin with his Approval. i really dont see a difference in this two Situations. Of course, when you sleep with Halsin, you ask him before. But ok. I hope, they have not change Shadowhearts Behavior as well in this Situation.
The old reaction is for Ascended Astarion, they just added a new one for Spawn.
But the difference is consent.
Halsin says he doesn't want to do anything without your partner's consent. He personally prefers open relationships, but he respects that not everyone feels the same as him.
Mizora wants you to go behind your partner's back and tells you “what they don't know won't hurt them.” Then, after, she makes sure your partner knows to cause drama.
When you think about Astarion's storyline, the difference between the two situations is obvious.
The two romance options who are fine with it are Halsin and Ascended Astarion. Shadowheart isn't as mad as other companions, but not happy about it either.

She wants to have fun, and causing problems for your relationship is probably part of the fun for her.

Halsin is willing to wait until you talk to your partner, because he knows healthy communication is important. Mizora isn't like that.
