About time. It was so weird, we have the option to control whether he is ascended or not and even to break up with him after ascending. The horrified victim look during the kiss was hilarious and awful at the same time lol
Okay, hear me out... I'm going to dedicate a character to patch 7. Name her Seven. Base off of the 7 sins and 7000+ souls sacrificed to get to the new scene. 😂(I feel the stares of judgement)😅😅
I'm so happy with this! I hated the dirty feeling I had before when my character looked like she would rather be anywhere else. It felt like I was being punished for choosing to ascend him. This is much better imo. Ty larien! 💕
I am so grateful for this channel you don’t even know. I’d only be doing infinite playthroughs to be able to see all of these scenes, thank you for posting these😩❤️
Same here. I feel like Larian has forced the players to be happy with these new animations and has given them more reasons to argue - I mean AA and Spawn fans. One animation for each companion before Patch 6 was enough for me. I liked the one where Astarion, regardless of Ascended or Spawn, would pull you close and kiss you passionately (now only Spawn Astarion has that animation).
@@littlelady79KK "Mac and console players, it’s going to take a little longer to get Patch 7 through all the necessary technical checks and requirements and into your hands. Although later than we originally expected, you should be diving into Patch 7 this October." From Larian's Twitter.
The fearful expressions made no sense. Why should a pc who was complicit in helping Astarion complete the ritual and chose to continue to be with him afterwards be scared of him? Plus the dev notes during the scene where Astarion turns the player into a vampire says that they are enjoying being choked. Why should that change for one of the kissing animations?
@@britt6184 Because they could always be afraid of him before? Tav can express many times after the ritual that the change in him was not what they wanted or expected. The notes say Tav is enjoying it if they asked for it. That doesn't explain why a Tav who asked him to be gentle while turning them would also love it and have the same reaction to what he does in these kisses. Both more positive and scared faces make sense for different characters. Both should have been options to choose from.
@@ValElise99 I agree that both expressions could work, kind of wish you could have both depending on your characters inclination (though I'm not really sure how you could code it to work, maybe have it depend if they picked the 'be gentle' option during the transformation). Personally, I still think the frightened expressions work better overall. As it shows that Tav still maintains enough of their own mind (despite being a spawn) to feel fear which I think helps sell the cruelty of the Ascendant better. While the happier expressions makes me think that Tav is already being subjected to the vampire master/spawn domination. Which is also sad and cruel, but I think having enough free will to voice/show your own emotions (despite being bound in chains) really makes you feel the weight of the Rite's sacrifice. But that's just my preference.
@@DRAG0NSPIRIT10but Astarion didn’t do anything cruel after ascension 🤔 and why Tav couldn’t be happy?.. Vampires could never control the emotions of their spawns
I think that since people started a petition to Larian to change Tav's face to a happier one, now you can start a petition to bring back their previous facial expressions 😀
I’m glad others are having fun but I like actually hate this 😭 I feel like it completely misses the point of his story and the original kisses. I hope there’s an in game way to make them change back or something cause this is just so dumb to me
Honestly, I've had a problem with AA kisses since patch 6. I was happy when Larian announced that there would be more kiss animations for each companion, but when I saw how it turned out for Ascended Astarion... I was kind of disappointed. And so since patch 6, I've stopped using the "Could I kiss you" option and just avoid that part of the AA romance. I regret Larian had added more kiss animations at all, I was happy with the one animation for each companion before Patch 6. I liked the one animation where Astarion, regardless of Ascended or Spawn, would pull you close and kiss you passionately (now only Spawn Astarion has that animation). I think that Larian with these kisses with AA has stirred up the already divided Astarion fans - now fanatics of the Spawn or Ascended versions only have more reasons to argue.
@@Fairbrooke feel as disappointed as you’d like. I’m just disappointed Larian made it sweet. To me, AA was never sweet. He’s not supposed to be sweet. But again, that’s just my interpretation and preference. If you’re happy with this, kudos to you all the way.
@@altaccountforthelols I'm not sure if you understood me. My opinion is that these animations for AA shouldn't exist at all - there should be one kiss animation for each companion, like before Patch 6. So I don't care what these kisses look like, because I avoid them in my game.
I am confused. I just recently started to look deeper into the story and characters of BG3. Although I don't want to dive to deep, yet, since I am still going back and forth on whether I want to play the game myself. And a lot of clips of ascended Astarion seem quite contradictory. There are clips floating around where it is very clear that Astarion does not give a damn about what Tav actually wants and only what he thinks is best for Tav, where he seems to enjoy Tav's obedience consent be damned. And than there is clips, where there is no hint of questionable consent. Are people modding this, does it depend on choices you make in game, or was that a change from Larian post release? If it's the latter, no wonder people are at each other's throats over whether or not Astarion canonically becomes a toxic, abusive asshole after ascension. It's sometimes just subtle changes, but it has a huge impact on Astarion as a character. Btw, I am aware that the title says "PATCH 7 Fixed Kisses", but due to the capitalisation I find it unclear, whether you're saying you fixed the kisses from patch 7, or they got changed with patch 7. And as I said, there are a lot of wildly contradictory clips out there, so I have no frame of reference to put the title into context.
When Larian added new kisses for every companion in Patch 6 in February of this year, there was a lot of controversy about Ascended Astarion's kisses due to Tav's facial expressions. AA fans were unhappy with their Tav/Durge's facial expressions when kissing Vampire Lord, because they looked scared or disgusted or angry at AA kissing them. You can see the kisses from Patch 6 here: ua-cam.com/video/7gNVoah1Xfs/v-deo.htmlsi=KwYeFzGXHKFlhqX7 There was a petition for Larian to change Tav's facial expressions when kissing AA to a more happy one, and that's what happened in Patch 7. And I used the word "fixed" in the title of my video instead of "changed Tav/Durge facial expressions" just to keep the title short. That's it, that's the whole story 🙂
@Fairbrooke OK, so it was a change by Larian, than. I am kinda surprised by that, since it paints Astarion in such a different light and actually shifts the tone of his whole character arc, despite being just such a subtle detail. Did they change it for both custom character options or just Dark Urge? Anyway, that explains why so many people seem to be talking past each other, when it comes to Ascended Astarion.
The difference in Tav's facial expression is especially noticeable during the second kiss (on her knees). Where once she had a terrified expression, now let's just say she's showing some sort of satisfaction.
To compare old and new kisses, I'm posting my earlier video here: ua-cam.com/video/7gNVoah1Xfs/v-deo.html
