Halsin is beyond worthless. Nothing but a fetish bait self insert for the weirdo that wrote him. HIs backstory is he was a drow sex slave and he liked it, every character has a reaction to the MC kissing him while they don't react to anybody else, every companion seems to want to have sex with him because he was written as some kind of sex god, he tries to but himself into your relationship with your romance choice and get himself into a threesome despite giving him no hints that you would ever want that. The game would be better off if this character had never become a companion.
Since he's a druid, he is closer to his desires and instincts than most people. And since elves live for 800 years more or less and he's just 350 years old, he must find some way to keep himself entertained😂

I hate the way she was written personally, sounds like she was uplifted from the streets of london in 2023. Every second word she says is FUCK or SHIT. Mean while the other characters at least talk in a some what medieval fantasy type of dialect. Considering a conversation I had with her where she mentioned going to "secondary school" she doesn't seem all that educated. What even is D&D secondary school? I can't picture her sitting in a classroom taking exams. The character is clearly some sort of self-insert for a writer.

@@midwayxDit’s been a while, I imagine everyone knows this now, but there is a way to save the grove AND recruit Minthara, when you get to the goblin camp and attack her or destroy something nearby, make sure she has the temporarily hostile sign, then knock her out instead of killing her. When you get to Moonrise towers in Act 2, you will find her on trial for failing to find the artifact. Follow her into the prison cells, and there you have it, you now have Minthara as a companion during a good play through

The softness he showed Sebastian at the Mansion shows that there were others that, in a different life, could have been something to him. He literally says if he would have met Tav they would have been another one of his victims. He was forced to be intimate with them, of course, but Cazador did that not the targets. A fair share of them were likely innocents that made his heart break to destroy.

I mean, you're literally forced to kill innocents for all eternity (or convinced you are in his case), you're forbidden to fall in love or experience *true* relationships because any person you approach is a prey. I can't imagine how many times Astarion must have fantasised of having *someone*, even a friend, to alleviate his pain down in Cazador's cells. And surely, he did fall for some of his victims too, like Sebastian's story suggests. After all, bedding someone is never merely the *act*. Psychology says there's always a deeper bond involved in something intimate like a sexual act, even when the participants don't know each other...and I'm sure, for someone as emotional as Astarion, this must have been unbearable. Being the smartass he is, Gale probably caught this aspect in Astarion.

They're both dead in my playthrough. Wiped Minthara out like a random NPC. She never said a word when I was destroying the goblin camp. Took a rest after I finished that and Lae'zel decided it was a good idea to hold a knife to my characters throat after being a demeaning, racist, self important, combative, ahole up until that point. Didn't work out so well for her and that was pretty much the final bit of patience I had for her character. She's a stain on the camp grounds now and none of the companions even acknowledge her passing.
Okay, hearing Karlach and Wyll talk to each other even when they're meant to be in a relationship with the player just makes me ship them together. Makes sense that Wyll joins Karlach of his own volition when he has the means to protect her.
Oh yeah Wyll and Karlach being romantically involved is why I don't think I'll romance either (and cause they both go to hell and I don't wanna go with)
I romanced Gale but I never heard any of the banter. Is it just me or is it the game has significantly less banter after we entered Act 2 and esp. Act 3? Or maybe it's just my old PC which can't handle so many NPC and bantering at the same time☠
Out of these I heard just one with Gale/Astarion about night of debauchery in Act 3, but none of the others, even though I deliberately run around with different party compositions in places where some of the other banters triggered.
I heard just one banter in act 3 since entering (spoilers ahead), BUT, I started that playtrough again after the new patch and was bombarded not by one or two but FOUR different interactions in like, 20-25 minutes of gameplay. Don’t know If I got lucky or it was bugged before, but I would love if it continued like that

My favourite banter was in act 1 with the Lovitar guy. I kept getting hit and Shadowheart said "Would you have liked her this much if you knew she was into this?" And Astarion is like, "Well, yes but I had my hopes!" Its a rare cutscene if you have them both in your party and they show up during that cutscene, its not always guaranteed but im glad its in my playthrough.
13:20 This line is interesting because I think Halsin is talking directly to the player rather than Tav or Astarion. The whole "for your sake, I hope some of it is just a fantasy" makese more sense that way, the game is directly saying that you are in a abusive relationship, and it's ok if this is your fantasy but please please please don't seek this out in real life.

Halsin, the wise! He was made a companion because of the thirst for him and is mostly, as a companion, a reflection of that thirst and the memes about him. It was brilliant that, to counter balance that, Larian also made him so healthy when it comes to consent and healthy relationships. So, in a way, yes, I agree, it's aimed at the player.

I think he's talking about someone willingly devoting themselves completely to someone else, that they become a thrall, living just for the other person. A not uncommon fantasy about what a great passion is, but definitely not healthy if taken to those extremes. I also don't see his time with the drow being consensual, but the very definition of consented rape. He was a prisoner and fearing for his life, but didn't panic or despair, instead he went along because he knew the alternative was certainly worse. And being a horny boy and someone who seems to live in the moment, it's very possible he, at times, even forgot the reality of the situation and enjoyed it. He may not want to think of himself as a victim or, even more so that others do, but it was rape nevertheless.
Well I'd hope the people behind the game view players as smart enough *not* to use their fictional relationships with rpg vampire lords as models for real life relationships. I don't know anyone who's spending 70 bucks on a DND game to use as a guide to romance.

I got one between Shadowheart and Astarion recently. I romanced him (unascended) and he mentions being in his element when you walk down an alley, and Shadowheart says "now you consort with a different class of people, right?" And he tells her "Different class of person, and different type of consorting." I assume he's basically saying he's banging Tav 😂
I got this one in the same situation but another I haven't heard here (might have missed) where SH says like "do you have any sweethearts back in the city" and he's like "sweethearts? No. I prefer them SAVOURY" and she's like ugh nvm but those are the most I've really had 😮I wonder if it's that I'm playing multiplayer so it's more limited by the party size
Even more sad that she can't be recruited into a good party. She very much seems like part of the family here. I wish she wasn't gated behind one of the most chaotic evil choices in the game.

Curious how many people actually heard most of these whilst playing the game because I feel like as the acts go on, the interactivity between your party and Tav just plummets especially from Act 2 onward and majorly in Act 3. I've got like over 300 hours and haven't heard a lot of these or even most of them.
I only get them when I warp and because the screen is dark first, I can't read what they say. Though I have heard the reason for not getting the banter is due to camera distance in the settings? The closer the better supposedly.

Considering the Female/Male dynamics in Lolth Drow culture, Mintharas attitude of superiority, wanting to dominate her partner, and emotionless self-control is oddly enough, lore accurate.
She is not emotionless, but Underdark drow culture requires self-restraint and watchfulness to ensure survival and success. This part goes for both sexes.

I really want a game where the party can interact with each other with the same depth as the main character. Fights, arguments, friendships and romance happening behind the scenes and the player can influence that.
I just want for Wyll and Karlach to be a canon ship so hard lol. I have a love hate relationship with Dragon Age (because EA won't let me access games i friggin paid for anymore 🙃) but i loved how in DAI your party members can go and date eachother once you're in an established relationship. It's mostly Iron Bull and Dorian but iirc even Josephine had something going on with Blackwall. Once you have a romance secured it'd be nice for your party members that are compatible to hint at something. Like Shadowheart and Lae'zel once their personal quests have advanced, especially in a scenario where they'd have rejected Shar for Shadowheart and Vlaakith for Lae'zel would make a lot of sense, or Wyll and Karlach, because it's Wyll and Karlach lol.
After not having any of my companions' banter trigger in Act 3 when my Tav romanced Wyll, super appreciative of this compilation so that I can hear it. Thanks for putting this together!
I really hope they overhaul that in Act 3. Not only is it majorly bugged even still after a few updates/patches, the interactivity with companions and their reactions is either not there or bugged.
I already have 450 hours in and done 3 playthroughs romancing each time and i havent heard a single one of these lines in the game. I hope its either a bug that gets fixed, or larian adds them back in.
Missing context. There is another wyll/astarion conversation missing here that is part of a larger ongoing conversation with Astarion and wyll. they have a sort of mini story arc where wyll keeps offending astarion throughout the game. Act 1- Astarion sleeps with Tav. Wyll warns them about him. Astarion gets upset. Act 2 -Astarion confesses his feelings to Tav and everyone now knows what hes been through and they feel kind of bad for him including gale who sort of apologizes for judging him (40:30). However there is a missing part to little story. In Act 2 Wyll says something similar, astarion is expecting a similar sentiment as what gale said but Wyll just insults him instead. it goes something like: Wyll: Im afraid i misjudged you, astarion. Astarion: and how is it that youve misjudged my fine character?" Wyll: I thought you were insufferably randy. Now i see you're just insufferable. Act 3: After killing cazador and not ascending the dialogue in 10:02 happens. Wyll says he misjudged him again but astarion snaps assuming that wyll. So this isnt random. he's reacting to the fact that Wyll has already said this before only to insult him. Dev notes say: "A little tired of wyll's bullshit". So in act 3 Wyll finally stops acting like a dick and says something nice about him. Its really cute i hope they patch this into the game at some point.
Skip the Goblin/Druid choice entirely. Go to Mountain Pass, then Moonrise Towers & Minthara will be recruitable. You miss the Minthara romance scene in Act I, & can't progress Karlach's romance, because the Tieflings are all dead on the road, but you'll get the party banter between all the characters. Only Minthara & Halsin are mutually exclusive; one or the other, but not both (without glitches or mods.)
@@urbirdfriend Listening through all of these and I actually have heard 31:39 in game (act 3 near Nine-Fingers' hideout), so there's a chance these are still in the game and just need extremely specific triggers. EDIT: have heard 33:59 in act 3 too

There's mods for that. There's a poly mod and a increased party limit, so you can drag the whole polycule along. (I don't have any mods installed yet, cause I want my first playthrough to be without mods. So I don't know if you can have along all 10 companions +Tav with mods.)
TBH, I think some of it is actually meant as a joke by her. She is considered quite humorous among Gith. I love her. And yeah, fucking love Astarion. And I'm starting to 'get' the whole bloodweave pairing... When they aren't being rivals over Tav they have some really sweet moments.
Interactions between my companions was really lacking in my playthrough, especially later on in the game. I hope it's just a bug that's preventing these dialogues to trigger and not because they were removed from the game entirely.

Halsin is beyond worthless. Nothing but a fetish bait self insert for the weirdo that wrote him. HIs backstory is he was a drow sex slave and he liked it, every character has a reaction to the MC kissing him while they don't react to anybody else, every companion seems to want to have sex with him because he was written as some kind of sex god, he tries to but himself into your relationship with your romance choice and get himself into a threesome despite giving him no hints that you would ever want that. The game would be better off if this character had never become a companion.

I hate the way she was written personally, sounds like she was uplifted from the streets of london in 2023. Every second word she says is FUCK or SHIT. Mean while the other characters at least talk in a some what medieval fantasy type of dialect. Considering a conversation I had with her where she mentioned going to "secondary school" she doesn't seem all that educated. What even is D&D secondary school? I can't picture her sitting in a classroom taking exams. The character is clearly some sort of self-insert for a writer.

@@bogdantanasescu3527 No, you have to skip the grove questline and go to Mountain Pass, leaving the grove to its fate. Minthara will be available at Moonrise Tower and you get to keep Karlach and Wyll. The tieflings will die, tho.
@@midwayxDit’s been a while, I imagine everyone knows this now, but there is a way to save the grove AND recruit Minthara, when you get to the goblin camp and attack her or destroy something nearby, make sure she has the temporarily hostile sign, then knock her out instead of killing her. When you get to Moonrise towers in Act 2, you will find her on trial for failing to find the artifact. Follow her into the prison cells, and there you have it, you now have Minthara as a companion during a good play through

The softness he showed Sebastian at the Mansion shows that there were others that, in a different life, could have been something to him. He literally says if he would have met Tav they would have been another one of his victims. He was forced to be intimate with them, of course, but Cazador did that not the targets. A fair share of them were likely innocents that made his heart break to destroy.
@@svoba4afI haven’t played far into the Astarion romance, but a lot of what he tells Tav isn’t for everyone’s ears. In this clip, it sounds like Gale knows Astarion used to get around, but he doesn’t know why, or how bad it was for Astarion.

I mean, you're literally forced to kill innocents for all eternity (or convinced you are in his case), you're forbidden to fall in love or experience *true* relationships because any person you approach is a prey. I can't imagine how many times Astarion must have fantasised of having *someone*, even a friend, to alleviate his pain down in Cazador's cells. And surely, he did fall for some of his victims too, like Sebastian's story suggests. After all, bedding someone is never merely the *act*. Psychology says there's always a deeper bond involved in something intimate like a sexual act, even when the participants don't know each other...and I'm sure, for someone as emotional as Astarion, this must have been unbearable. Being the smartass he is, Gale probably caught this aspect in Astarion.
I find Laezels and Mintharas dynamic to be quite fun and even wholesome at points.

They're both dead in my playthrough.
Wiped Minthara out like a random NPC. She never said a word when I was destroying the goblin camp.
Took a rest after I finished that and Lae'zel decided it was a good idea to hold a knife to my characters throat after being a demeaning, racist, self important, combative, ahole up until that point.
Didn't work out so well for her and that was pretty much the final bit of patience I had for her character.
She's a stain on the camp grounds now and none of the companions even acknowledge her passing.

Out of these I heard just one with Gale/Astarion about night of debauchery in Act 3, but none of the others, even though I deliberately run around with different party compositions in places where some of the other banters triggered.
If your camera isnt right on top of the party you wont hear the banter, it can be extremely easy to miss

I heard just one banter in act 3 since entering (spoilers ahead), BUT, I started that playtrough again after the new patch and was bombarded not by one or two but FOUR different interactions in like, 20-25 minutes of gameplay.

My favourite banter was in act 1 with the Lovitar guy. I kept getting hit and Shadowheart said "Would you have liked her this much if you knew she was into this?" And Astarion is like, "Well, yes but I had my hopes!" Its a rare cutscene if you have them both in your party and they show up during that cutscene, its not always guaranteed but im glad its in my playthrough.
They have a similar interaction if you kiss Crushers foot To steal his ring 😂

It was brilliant that, to counter balance that, Larian also made him so healthy when it comes to consent and healthy relationships. So, in a way, yes, I agree, it's aimed at the player.

I think he's talking about someone willingly devoting themselves completely to someone else, that they become a thrall, living just for the other person. A not uncommon fantasy about what a great passion is, but definitely not healthy if taken to those extremes.
I also don't see his time with the drow being consensual, but the very definition of consented rape. He was a prisoner and fearing for his life, but didn't panic or despair, instead he went along because he knew the alternative was certainly worse. And being a horny boy and someone who seems to live in the moment, it's very possible he, at times, even forgot the reality of the situation and enjoyed it. He may not want to think of himself as a victim or, even more so that others do, but it was rape nevertheless.
Well I'd hope the people behind the game view players as smart enough *not* to use their fictional relationships with rpg vampire lords as models for real life relationships. I don't know anyone who's spending 70 bucks on a DND game to use as a guide to romance.

Curious how many people actually heard most of these whilst playing the game because I feel like as the acts go on, the interactivity between your party and Tav just plummets especially from Act 2 onward and majorly in Act 3. I've got like over 300 hours and haven't heard a lot of these or even most of them.
I only get them when I warp and because the screen is dark first, I can't read what they say. Though I have heard the reason for not getting the banter is due to camera distance in the settings? The closer the better supposedly.

This happened to me! 😭 I had 1hp too, and was long resting to heal. My bard got completely one shotted.
Considering the Female/Male dynamics in Lolth Drow culture, Mintharas attitude of superiority, wanting to dominate her partner, and emotionless self-control is oddly enough, lore accurate.
She is not emotionless, but Underdark drow culture requires self-restraint and watchfulness to ensure survival and success. This part goes for both sexes.
That’s why I always use female characters to romance minthara😂

I really want a game where the party can interact with each other with the same depth as the main character.
Fights, arguments, friendships and romance happening behind the scenes and the player can influence that.
Cant influence too much but Red Dead Redemption 2. The camp always has moments going on
fire emblem does this well and there's like.. 40 characters. the games are pretty animu though and a lil rough around the edges

I have a love hate relationship with Dragon Age (because EA won't let me access games i friggin paid for anymore 🙃) but i loved how in DAI your party members can go and date eachother once you're in an established relationship. It's mostly Iron Bull and Dorian but iirc even Josephine had something going on with Blackwall.
Once you have a romance secured it'd be nice for your party members that are compatible to hint at something. Like Shadowheart and Lae'zel once their personal quests have advanced, especially in a scenario where they'd have rejected Shar for Shadowheart and Vlaakith for Lae'zel would make a lot of sense, or Wyll and Karlach, because it's Wyll and Karlach lol.

After not having any of my companions' banter trigger in Act 3 when my Tav romanced Wyll, super appreciative of this compilation so that I can hear it. Thanks for putting this together!
I really hope they overhaul that in Act 3. Not only is it majorly bugged even still after a few updates/patches, the interactivity with companions and their reactions is either not there or bugged.

Ok, I definitely need to properly romance Wyll on my next playthrough, he's so sweet.
Karlach and Wyll's banter is just so wholesome, glad to see how well their dynamic is after their hostile beginnings.
I already have 450 hours in and done 3 playthroughs romancing each time and i havent heard a single one of these lines in the game. I hope its either a bug that gets fixed, or larian adds them back in.

Missing context. There is another wyll/astarion conversation missing here that is part of a larger ongoing conversation with Astarion and wyll. they have a sort of mini story arc where wyll keeps offending astarion throughout the game.
Act 1- Astarion sleeps with Tav. Wyll warns them about him. Astarion gets upset.
Act 2 -Astarion confesses his feelings to Tav and everyone now knows what hes been through and they feel kind of bad for him including gale who sort of apologizes for judging him (40:30). However there is a missing part to little story. In Act 2 Wyll says something similar, astarion is expecting a similar sentiment as what gale said but Wyll just insults him instead. it goes something like:
Wyll: Im afraid i misjudged you, astarion.
Astarion: and how is it that youve misjudged my fine character?"
Wyll: I thought you were insufferably randy. Now i see you're just insufferable.
Act 3: After killing cazador and not ascending the dialogue in 10:02 happens. Wyll says he misjudged him again but astarion snaps assuming that wyll. So this isnt random. he's reacting to the fact that Wyll has already said this before only to insult him. Dev notes say: "A little tired of wyll's bullshit". So in act 3 Wyll finally stops acting like a dick and says something nice about him. Its really cute i hope they patch this into the game at some point.

How do Karlach and Wyll have banter with Minthara when theyre supposed to leave the party if she joins?? Im so confused lol
Skip the Goblin/Druid choice entirely. Go to Mountain Pass, then Moonrise Towers & Minthara will be recruitable.
You miss the Minthara romance scene in Act I, & can't progress Karlach's romance, because the Tieflings are all dead on the road, but you'll get the party banter between all the characters.
Only Minthara & Halsin are mutually exclusive; one or the other, but not both (without glitches or mods.)
Is this in game? 140 h for finishing game and i dont think i heard something of this :(

@@urbirdfriend Listening through all of these and I actually have heard 31:39 in game (act 3 near Nine-Fingers' hideout), so there's a chance these are still in the game and just need extremely specific triggers. EDIT: have heard 33:59 in act 3 too
@@123abcdefg83 Yeah upon listening further, I recognized a few too. I feel like it must be the triggers - I read on Discord somewhere they were having issues with that re: ambient dialogue

You go straight into act 2 without partaking in the act 1 conflict one way or another.

There's mods for that. There's a poly mod and a increased party limit, so you can drag the whole polycule along.
(I don't have any mods installed yet, cause I want my first playthrough to be without mods. So I don't know if you can have along all 10 companions +Tav with mods.)

TBH, I think some of it is actually meant as a joke by her. She is considered quite humorous among Gith. I love her. And yeah, fucking love Astarion. And I'm starting to 'get' the whole bloodweave pairing... When they aren't being rivals over Tav they have some really sweet moments.

Interactions between my companions was really lacking in my playthrough, especially later on in the game. I hope it's just a bug that's preventing these dialogues to trigger and not because they were removed from the game entirely.
