I often feel sleepy 💤 after yoga class, why is this ❓
Any tips for someone who is scared of going upside down. Is the first exercise with the walking feet up the wall a good way to practice building confidence and strength. I would like to be able to fly one day in balances. Any tips would be great. Thanks.
Hi! My favorite way to practice inversions is on grass or a padded floor to start (if you have access to that) because it definitely helps remove some of the fear of falling associated with going upside down. If you dont, pile some pillows around your mat, use a wall, and start slowly! When your body is tired you're more likely to fall or injure yourself, so do a little practice everyday without overdoing it. Good luck! Feel free to email with more questions - Helen@FloatingYogaSchool.com
When I was learning headstand, I was taught to learn how to fall safely first of all. Most people afraid to try inversions is because of the fear of falling and injury. Learn to fall safely, softening the body (rather than being rigid, that includes your fingers on headstand) when falling and surround yourself with blankets to cushion the fall. And practice against a wall, if you're still unsure. Be careful with your neck, make sure that the weight is not on it nor your head, but rather distributed on your core muscles. Have fun and good luck!
Yes! Great suggestions. Thanks, Lorna!
