I loved your shocked face when singer Ian "granite tonsils" Gillan started to belt! Island Girl (my favourite one of course), I think you'll enjoy Highway Star, Burn and of course their iconic Smoke on the Water.
Black Sabbath, Deep purple and Led zeppelin known as the ‘unholy trinity’ created by the music journalists, probably in part because some religious institutions had labeled their music as devils' music.
Welcome to the Deep Purple rabbit hole! This is MK2 of DP and the best line up imho. Ian Gillan’s vocals are something else. Master guitarist Ritchie Blackmore on lead with Roger Glover on bass, Ian Paice on drums and the late great Jon Lord on his modified Hammond C3 organ fed thru some Marshall amps. I’m 71 and this is the music of my late teens/early twenties. Try Burn, Space Truckin, Black Night, Strange Kind of Woman, Lazy and of course, Smoke on the Water. DP formed in 1968 and broke up in 1975. Blackmore teamed up with singer Ronnie James Dio and formed Rainbow. Stargazer and its sequel A Light in the Black are superb, as is Starstruck, Tarot Woman, Kill the King and Man on a Silver Mountain. DP reformed in 1984 with the Mk2 line up and released Perfect Strangers. They are still playing today with three of the Mk2 line up in Glover, Paice and Gillan. Another group I think you will love is Boston. Singer, the late great Brad Delp had a voice as good as Gillan imho. Try More Than a Feeling, Foreplay/Long Time, Rock and Roll Band, The Launch/Cool the Engines and Don’t Look Back. Enjoy!
One of my top bands. This was a live TV performance they had strict rules concerning behaviour of the audiance. Highway Star is another great song.Ian Gillan is an English singer who is best known as the lead singer and lyricist for the rock band Deep Purple.Thank you young lady and stay safe.
… Yes, there are other bands and not just Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Black S. etc - there is also Deep Purple and they have been making damn good music since 1968 ... especially from 1969 to 1975 the best songs for me. 🎸🎹🥁🎤 Thank You
Us old f,,,,,cheers didn,t realise at the time but we were lucky to be young in the 70,s. We had the best bands in our midst. Deep Purple. Led Zep. Pink Floyd. Sabbath etc.
Deep Purple was a huge influence on all heavy music that came after, they were that good. Great performance! For more, check out Highway Star live from Made in Japan for one of the best Rockers ever. Also, for video do You Fool No One from the California Jam and watch and listen in wonder! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
YES. The Made in Japan album has the best individual recordings of each song from each concert on that tour. Love the vocal/guitar dual on "Strange Kind of Woman". Oh, and "Child in Time" is several minutes longer than this somewhat restricted video.
1970 and still a remarkable performance. Deep Purple is a live band of five high talented musicians. I'm sure they will impress you again. I highly recommend you to react to HIGHWAY STAR and SMOKE ON THE WATER live performances from their MADE IN JAPAN 72 album. Then you can check BURN, from California Jam 74, and then LAZY from MADE IN JAPAN 72. That's a good start to know this band. By the way, they are on tour right now and more than that, they have released their 23rd album with new material this year.
I can relate to you. That was amazing! First time I've heard that song! A couple Deep Purple songs: Smoke On The Water (this song has one of the most iconic guitar riffs ever!) & Highway Star (this song reminds me of when I was in high school cuz I had a Super Nintendo game called Rock And Roll Racing. The game had instrumental versions of iconic rock songs, including this one
One of the bands often credited as one of the first heavy metal bands alongside Black Sabbath. A couple more songs from the period by them that you could try are 'Smoke On The Water' and 'Burn'. I'm old enough to have been around and going to gigs when these songs were new 😄 Having mentioned 'Burn', something else you could look at. Guitarist and Pianist Miyako, who plays in a Japanese heavy metal band, Lovebites, has recorded a version of Burn, played as though it is a classical piano piece. Other rock/metal songs on the same EP are Helloween's 'Eagle Fly Free' and Gary Moore's 'The Loner'. These can be found on YT, look for the channel 'miyako - TOPIC'
@@favouriteislandgirl Although I'm in my mid 70's now, a few weeks ago I twice went to London to see Japanese metal band Lovebites play 😃 I think you have reacted to them in the past. They have released new music videos in the last few weeks that you might consider. I regard these Ladies as one of the best bands I've ever seen, and that's a high bar than includes Canadian band Rush. Other bands from the time of the video you have just done that you might look at are The Yardbirds (forerunners of Led Zep in many peoples opinion) Uriah Heep and Hawkwind (the original sci fi space rock band, bass player Lemmy (Motorhead) was a member at one time)
Keep in mind that they are still active today, albeit with a different guitarist and keyboardist, and continue to release very good albums, last released 2 months ago.
Ian Gillan sang the part of Jesus Christ in the original "Jesus Christ Superstar" rock-opera about the same time. In 1970 he indeed was singing like God. Or the son of God, to be exact...
Highway Star, Smok on the water, Lazy, Perfectos extraños, Cuando un hombre llora, Tengo una mujer extraña, etc. etc. Gracias por reaccionar a mis amores 😊. Me suscribo!! 💜💜💜💜💜
📍 I never see you mess with the volume on your headphones, I’m curious do you keep the volume a little on the low side or a little on the high side? I’m curious on how you like to rock
ive watched a lot of young people reacting to live performances of Deep Purple. Led Zep Pink Floyd. And i realised something. What the F,,,,ck happend to music. Were did it go. Nothing today lives up to these great bands of the 70,s
It's quite easy: You (like me decades before...) just have to realize that what you know about music is limited to where you started from... The rest is easy. Just follow your heart (and your ears)!

Hi, I'm 66 and I was a musician for years, now retired, but in the 1970s I played a Hammond C-3 like Jon Lord but I never sang like Ian Gillan
Nobody (except maybe Ann Wilson) could sing like Ian.
She needs to listen to Ian as Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
