You mentioned Glenn Hughes. He joined Deep Purple in 1974. He played bass and sung in Trapeze, Deep Purple, Black Country Communion, California Breed, Hughes Turner Project/HTP, The Dead Daisies and was the vocalist on the Black Sabbath album Seventh Star.
Hi Mollyboy that was awesome. Ritchie Blackmore on guitar one of the best guitarists on the planet. Ian Gillan on vocals. You probably know one of their songs SMOKE ON THE WATER. GILLAN AND DIO ARE MY 2 FAVOIRITE VOCALISTS. DEEP PURPLE ARE STILL ON THE GO WITH IAN GILLAN ON VOCALS 😊🤘🤘💖
Please hit Trapeze! Particularly off their second album, You Are the Music... We're Just the Band, title song. Glenn Hughes amazing vocals and rock funk vibe.

Respect! And ignore the negative commenters....dont waste your energy on them.
To people who aren't that immersed in keyboard players' world it might sound strange, but playing a Hammond keyboard is entirely different from playing any other keyboard. There are entirely different techniques to the art, many of them based on playing seemingly dissonant notes, playing legato (letting the tone continue) where a regular pianist/keyboardist would only do a quick tap, using the tone generator's resonance to create various effects, etc. Basically you can spend 10 years learning piano techniques, reading musical score from paper, getting a "feel" for the instruments.. then you start studying Hammond keyboard and throw away three quarters of the stuff you thought you knew, and study for another five or ten years to be a good player. There are rare exceptions of players who have a natural talent for playing in that manner, and those can turn the keyboard into a true Beast - like Jon Lord did.

It's just absolutely blazes and then you see Jon Lord playing simultaneously these faster arpeggios for a bit with Ritchie Blackmore on the guitar, and everything about it just Cooks like crazy and it's so filled with attitude and it's just Balls to the wall. There is such a long-running joke about how many people have been issued speeding tickets while blasting this as they cruise down the road. It's an absolute banger, and they really show off on that one.

"It's kind of slower and more mellow than what I expected." This made me smile. One of their most powerful songs, member of the unholy trinity: Sabbath, Zep, Deep Purple. The origins of it all.
I too was chuckling when Mollyboy said it was mellow...knowing what was coming up! It is nice to have him be exposed to the talent and virtuoso musicianship of progressive rock like this! Ps...I'm the Patreon who has been requesting this for months

I'm so glad I grew up listening to bands like this
Deep Purple is definitely a band that you need to dig into more. In my opinion, they were the epitom of 70's heavy metal.
A truly elite band from top to bottom.
Always gets me how Roger Glover is just shredding the bass line throughout Richie Blackmore’s solo
This is an incredible song! Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover are a force to be reckoned with!
don't forget Jon Lord
Or the magnificent Ian Paice, one of the best ever.
Fastest and smoothest hands in the business. His drum solo from Copenhagen 1972 is insane.
Yep, never flustered, drives it relentlessly forward and I concur, got the dvd of that show and I'm staggered every time I watch it.
YYEEESSSS Deep Purple...... and this song is great !!!!!
Let's welcome this young man to real music's world. When talented people make music with real oldscool instruments or their voises, only thing you need computer for is to spread that talent to the world.
It's a must to hear the whole "Deep purple in rock"...
Jeez, The audience are amazed, they are just in shock, they have never, ever, ever, heard vocals like this.
Every member a true legend. Jon Lord on keyboards, Ian Gillan singing, Ian Paice drumming, Roger Glover on bass, and the incomparable Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. You should check out Rainbow (also with Blackmore on guitar) and their song 'Stargazer'.
100% Check out Rainbow Stargazer! DIO is a vocal legend! ( RIP RJD)
as a 70yr old rock music fanatic i am busy binge watching you react {in no particular order} to the music i have loved from the mid 60s to present day and its fascinating to see your appreciation growing with each vid keep it up and before long youll be growing your hair good on yer
Look at ALL the bands from the 70’s and 80’s, every member was top of their game, no passengers.
You’ve got a lot of listening to do, I live it !!!!!
70's bleeding into the 80's music feels like a journey. They go through a whole saga in every song. Def explains the length and breadth (ground they cover in each track) of the songs.
😮 Wooow!!
Highway Star for guitar and keyboard hijinks my man! Your reaction is why I love these types of channels because I think ( I could be wrong) that you'd have never come across this music on your own or listened to it. Thanks for the video.
You’re absolutely right. Without this channel, I don’t think I’d ever have listened to half the songs I have

Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan was the biggest influence on Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson.
You can thank the audience for such a fine recording.
They asked the audience to remain quiet as they would be recording.
Ian Gillan had a 5 octave range.
Smoke on the Water
Lazy Highway Star
........
A classic from a great album..Deep Purple in Rock
I literally said "oh yes!" out loud and clicked instantly. I hope you go huge bro, you're great. empathy, realness, kind way of speaking etc. props to you, cheers! ✌💚
Deep Purple Machine Head was one of my 1st albums I got from my record club , you need to hear Highway Star, Smoke On The Water, and Space Truckin some of Deep Purples best you'll ❤ them 😅
Cream, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Steppenwolf, Three Dog Night, and many others had great influence over my decision to embrace heavy rock-n-roll. I was born in 1960 and grew up with this genre of music.
Perfect line up, but you forgot Uriah Heep.
