Erst danach bin ich auf weitere Musikstücke, wie „Smoke on the Water“, „Highway Star“, „ when a blind Man cry“, usw. aufmerksam geworden. Der Keyboarder John Lord wurde zu meinem Idol, und ich wusste, dass ich auch so einen Schnurbart wie er tragen will, wenn ich erwachsen bin. Alle Bandmitglieder: Richy Blackmoore, Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Jon Lord, und Ian Gillan sind fantastische Musiker, und sie haben genau gewusst, was sie tun.
Smoke on the Water for Deep Purple is kinda similar to Paranoid for Black Sabbath. Everybody knows it and lots of people don't know anything but it. But all in all both songs are pretty simple, no more than decent, far from the best in both bands catalogues.

About the audience, I had the same reaction at first the first time I saw this. Which I grew up with all their albums but I never saw this video until maybe 10 years ago. And it's great. But it was part of a television show, and that's why the monitor setup wasn't that great, and in fact, back then, to try to get the best recording they could, they commanded the studio audience to be as quiet as they could until the end. But there is other footage from them from in their Hay Day where they are at Arena Rock shows and people are going crazy. So please don't get the wrong idea. So glad you reacted to this.
Was there we were on our final warning. We were told that the whole audience would be removed from the studio, that’s why we were so very quiet, we didn’t want to ruin it for ourselves and the other audience.
Who are these people? These people are Deep Purple one of the greatest bands ever, particularly with this lineup: Jon Lord, organ, Ritchie Blackmore, guitar, Ian Paice, drums, Roger Glover, bass, and Ian Gillan, vocals. Each of these guys was a superb musician in his own right and the great Ritchie Blackmore a true virtuoso of a guitar player. By the way, in an interview Blackmore mentioned that the intro to Child in Time was inspired by a song, Bombay Calling, by the legendary San Francisco band It's A Beautiful Day, which unfortunately only stayed together for a short period of time (give them a listen).
Great reaction Jacqueline. The reason the audience was so odd and still was that they had been told to sit still and not make noise for the sound recording.

I really like the new Portable Door song, Ian doesn't sing like this anymore but he is almost 80 years old. It isn't this lineup anymore but it's still not bad
Those guys are about 75 years old and still making Albums ! next one coming July 13th i believe ! they released one song ( portable door ) very catchy ! 😎
You got it right... they're all tremendously talented musicians, and the whole is more than the sum of the parts, they just blend it together so well... ranged mostly from blues to hard rock... and they were amazing at both, when they played blues like the verses here, it sounded so authentic
Smoke on The Water was one of a few " radio friendly" songs they did with Ian on vocals, but their core rock was never RADIO friendly. Of the so called " Holy Trinity" ( Deep Purple, Black Sabbath & Led Zepplin ), Purple were the first to explore what is now called Heavy Metal. Bass player Roger Glover was an excellant MUSICIAN and respected bass player, Jon Lord on Hammond Organ & Ritchie Blackmore added Bach and other classical writers to their hard and heavy rock, becoming the expected guitar solos of later heavy metal guitarists. Ritchie is a guitar legend who was shredding before Van Halen was born, a la his chosen classical riffs. Jon Lord was an accomplished pipe organ player and Hammond organ expert. Ian Paice on drums was a trained or at least partly trained jazz drummer who made a simple basic jazz drum kit sound bigger than the monster kits used by other great rock drummers. Deep Purple were big and getting bigger without much radio airplay when Led Zepplin arrived and got a lot more radio time as did Black Sabbath...... Radio rules popular music. Those that get radio airtime sell records, those that dont might have the biggest fan base and the biggest concerts.......but they dont sell records in bulk numbers.
Sounds like Deep Purple were the OG's of Rock & Metal. That's so impressive. Thank you for all the detailed info. I have heard Ritchie's name many times, it all makes sense now. I love learning from you!!! 🙏💜

This is a 1970 live studio recording. If someone from the audience started to react to the music as if they were at a rock concert, they'd stop the performance, throw that person out and start the recording from the beginning. Ian Gillan would not be happy. That's why they're all sitting there as if they're being paid a shilling to sit and be quiet. Times were different but the music was awesome.
I always love seeing twenty somethings reacting to the music of my late teens/early twenties. This one is DP Mk2, the best DP lineup imho. Welcome to the DP rabbit hole! Try Highway Star, Space Truckin’, Strange Kind of Woman, Black Night etc. Another group I think you will like is Boston. More Than a Feeling is one of their best known, but Don’t Look Back,Foreplay/Long Time & The Launch/Cool the Engines really shows the late Brad Delp’s awesome voice and range.
The lead singer, Ian Gillan was also the first Jesus in the rock-opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Here he is doing Gethsemane: ua-cam.com/video/gOjyGy1NR4Y/v-deo.html
My favorite DP song as far as vocals. Ian Gillan is the consummate rock and roll singer, imo. As far as the audience is concerned, as this was a tv performance, they were asked to not make any sounds or move too much.
The audience were told to keep completely stil because of ensuring film and sound quality - it was (I believe) a BBC recording and it was (back then) 'the big time'.
All fantastic musicians, extreme amount of talent in this group. I would highly suggest checking out Deep Purple's guitarist next band called Rainbow, the song "Stargazer" is a must. Highly recommend their live concert song "Mistreated" 1977 Munich, so very good.
This song actually split the band up. Ian Gillian knew that he might be damaging his vocal chords by keep singing it, so he wanted to take it off the set list, but Richie Blackmore kept introducing it, and once the crowd thought they were going to play it, there would have been a riot if they didn't.
Ouch! Yeh, musicians don't always realize that our body, our voice is our instrument. We can't just sat it down and it works whenever you pick it up. Vocalists are athletes and everyone is so different. Some can smoke and drink and sing (although, eventually there will be damage but often managable) but some can't even be around air conditioner. I can't stand stage fog, it dries my voice out and it sucks, cause it looks awesome. I also don't drink when on tour. Every singer has to learn what works and what doesn't, what is sustainable and what is damaging. Rock singers in general put way more strain on their voice than pop singers. The Rockstar Life is not as easy as most people think. Looks glamorous on the outside. Thanks for sharing that, I had no idea.
Just in the unlikely event that no one has mentioned it yet. This is a Live In-Studio recording event. The people in the audience have been told not to make any noise or move around much, so's not to be distractions from the audio and video recording process. Also, they're Brits, a bit more understated than we are "over here." 🙃
Nice reaction Jacqueline. Deep Purple have many great songs. Try the song from Deep Purple called Space Trucking. Another great band from the 1970s is Budgie. Try the song called Napoleon Bona Parts 1 @ 2. Back in the 1970s there was great songs but not many videos

The queen of vibrato is Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. I don’t think she could sing without vibrato if she tried. “I’ll Stand by You” is an excellent example. And as male vocalists go, Danny Whitten of the band Crazy Horse had some amazingly beautiful vibrato. Check out his song “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” to hear that. Sadly, Danny passed away in 1972. In 1975, Rod Stewart covered Danny’s song and had a huge hit with it. Danny’s song is one of the most beautiful ballads ever. It has few lyrics but a melody that is just beautiful! In 2004 Rod sang the song with a young gal, Amy Belle, for the first time ever as a duet. Amy was discovered busking at an underground subway station in Glasgow and Rod invited her to his show at the Royal Albert Hall. It is an epic performance. If you don’t want to react to it, please listen and enjoy! “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” - Rod Stewart & Amy Belle live 2004 ua-cam.com/video/w46bWxS9IjY/v-deo.htmlsi=3A8_ibdtm5HKfjgZ
Thanks so much! Chrissie is great. I love that song, although I'm not a huge fan of too much vibrato, it does add character and works well for certain singers, I now need to re-listen to that song ;) As far as Danny and Rod covering it, I will add it to my list. How awesome of Rod to invite that girl on stage. Can't wait.

Those guys are about 75 years old and still making Albums ! next one coming July 13th i believe ! they released one song ( portable door ) very catchy ! 😎
So inspiring! Music = Life
you should do Gethsemane (I Only Want To Say) by Ian Gillan (the singer of this song). His vocals are just so impressive
I will! Thank you!
I LOVE seeing the reaction to Ian’s high A5 scream.
Nobody could scream like Morrison - John Densmore.

I have a long memory and do my best to be accurate , however, I know we can never be 100% sure of our known facts.
Take it all in, listen to the experts , and make up your own mind.

Super! Ich bin aus Mecklenburg ;) Du?
One of the best reactions to this song i have seen. Thank You
Thanks so much! ;)
Thanks so much for all the recommendations DP is fantastic I need more lol In general I'm excited to dive deeper into artists from that era.
HI FROM SHEFFIELD YORKSHIRE ENGLAND O YES WHAT A TIME THE 70S THE ORIGONAL VOICES BANDS WHAT A VEIN OF TALANT SHEAR CLASS
Hi Mark! ❤
Sheffield, eh ? Do you have an excuse for Def Leppard, man ?....
🚬😎👍
Terima kasih JVB kerana telah bereaksi lagu zaman saya membesar. Suara penyanyi dahulu memang tinggi.
Yes, he's incredible. I'm blown away!
7:33 your reaction is priceless 😂Great video. Regards from Argentina
Thank you!
The lead singer, Ian Gillan was also the first Jesus in the rock-opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Here he is doing Gethsemane: ua-cam.com/video/gOjyGy1NR4Y/v-deo.html
Well, no one is perfect!
Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!++++++!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite DP song as far as vocals. Ian Gillan is the consummate rock and roll singer, imo. As far as the audience is concerned, as this was a tv performance, they were asked to not make any sounds or move too much.
Jesus Gillan Superstar......no more Words needed......
The audience were told to keep completely stil because of ensuring film and sound quality - it was (I believe) a BBC recording and it was (back then) 'the big time'.
Not BBC
1970 i was 3 years old , but my real start as a Metalhead was 1980 , today with 56 years is that normal Music for me
All fantastic musicians, extreme amount of talent in this group. I would highly suggest checking out Deep Purple's guitarist next band called Rainbow, the song "Stargazer" is a must. Highly recommend their live concert song "Mistreated" 1977 Munich, so very good.
Thank you. I WILL ;)
This song actually split the band up.
His name's Gillan, not Gillian.
@@dashriprock5720 He is just a newcomer to the story of Deep Purple.

Thank you so much!
Great song and reaction
Thanks so much!
Just in the unlikely event that no one has mentioned it yet. This is a Live In-Studio recording event. The people in the audience have been told not to make any noise or move around much, so's not to be distractions from the audio and video recording process. Also, they're Brits, a bit more understated than we are "over here." 🙃
❤
Nice reaction Jacqueline. Deep Purple have many great songs. Try the song from Deep Purple called Space Trucking. Another great band from the 1970s is Budgie. Try the song called Napoleon Bona Parts 1 @ 2. Back in the 1970s there was great songs but not many videos
I will check it out! Thank you!!!!
😮 Woow!!
Ian Gillan* Vocalista
Ian Paice* Batería
Roger Glover* Bajo
Ritchi Blackmore* Guitarra...y el gran
Jon Lord* Órgano.
RIP. JON LORD 😢.
Gracias!! Me suscribo 😃
Desde Chile ( Suramérica, al fin del mundo).❤
Thank you and welcome to the channel. They are so incredible, we need more ;)
Sabbbath, Purple, Zepellin same year 1968. GHowever, the best live albuym in 1972 was "Made in Japan" Sold 100 milliuon copies. Check that out. And 1994 Perfect Strangers. Opps, sorry. You may have been living in a wardrobe all your life

I love it. Thank you ;)

The lead singer is Ian Gillan. He was Jesus Christ on the Original Jesus Christ Super Star album.
Apon everything else that is happening, .. you are the only one that noticed the finger in the ear Jac 👍✌️
It's a singers thing 😂

Your reactions are cool. You should listen to Highway Star as well ! xx
Thank you! I will.

Can't wait.

in my view the 70ties was the best era of music. hehe

I fucking love this audience. Germany, big love. lol
Btw Deep Purple was very big in Germany .
Hahaha, right? They are so well-behaved. 😂❤

Jvb i got your reply i think you asked me which wintersun you should analyze correct me if im wrong but that list is wintersun land of snow and sorrow from sonic pump studio in Helsinki Finland. And wintersun time cover from eillnea a vocalist from Europe which i suggested for you to do your own cover of that song it is so more beautiful when she sings it because its a softer female vocal much like your own my queen. And if you listen closely i don't no if its me but eillneas vocal back track sounds ethereal very reminicent of enya but you would have to listen to agree with me on that. So im sending you this post as you asked me to. Send me a reply what you think my qeen. Much love wintersun Alex ❄️❤️

Ian Gillan one of the greatest singers ever. He can scream in tune
He's incredible!
Ritchie Blackmore is on the guitar.
First to know this was a anti war songs during Vietnam War. Was thinking why 3 sets of 3 screams. In the last set of screams when he added the last set of lyrics. Listen closely. He, the singer represents PEACE, a spirit form. Peace pleads to stop the fighting. Stop the killing. The last set PEACE gives up and blows his brains out. Humanity is hopeless Vietnam War. Each set of 3 screams represents 3 wars. WW1. WW2, and Vietnam
Oh wow. Thank you, that's deep! I had no idea.
@@jacquelinevanbierkyes deep but absolute nonsense.
The audience were told to sit nicely and not to make a noise, typical BBC in the 1970's.
Aliens❤
Goddamn! I MISS REAL MUSIC! Young people today should be outraged by what they're fed by corporate America as good music; but alas they are not.
They just don't know but I actually know several younger ppl who are getting into older music. So much raw talent and substance!
Try the live version of Strange kind of woman.
Gillan at the end hit way too high notes...
That's 1970!!!!!!!. All analogue.
