I'm similar to you except slightly older at 38 and I love "Lucas Star Wars" and the EU it inspired but I don't give a crap about "Disney Star Wars" and refuse to watch the poorly written garbage they keep churning out which is continuously destroying what George Lucas aka "the patriarchy" (to them) created.
I just love how Disney still haven't clocked on yet that the fan base that they've told essentially to F off in favour of a "modern audience" are the ones who will:
- Repeat watch your TV shows
- Repeat watch your movies in the cinema
- Introduce their kids (or for me my nieces) to Star Wars
- Buy your various merchandise regardless of how expensive some of it can be particularly when it comes to collectables
The "modern audience" they keep chasing are minimal in comparison and will watch the show/movie once and then forget about it soon after.
I actually wonder as a black person living in the UK am I a "bigot" also if I say I don't give a F about how "diverse" your show/movie is as I care more about having a good story and personally if that's what you lead with in your marketing campaign it immediately puts me off as I'm not wasting my time or money cause "look we have black people" type BS

I didn't realize how bad things had got audience wise until last year when my son who was 12 or 13 at the time told me that no one his age likes Star Wars anymore.
Through the ups and downs Star Wars has always been popular with kids, and now it's not. The level of disaster that Disney has created here is mind boggling and cannot be understated.

That goes to show that Disney has LOST at least one or two generations of potential fans by letting this stupidly continue for so long!! The fans sent a serious warning to Disney that they were heading down the wrong path: the first warning was the drop off with Last Jedi between weeks, second was the collapse of the toy sales, third was Solo bombing at the Box office, fourth was Rise of Sidious's fake Granddaughter struggling to a billion dollars and the lack of toys for the film, Disney did NOTHING and let things continue as they were, thus they have lost their audience, I bet if Mano hadn't been successful, Kennedy would of been fired after ep 9 struggled at the box office

I stopped watching The Acolyte after Episode 4, cancelled my Disney+ subscription a week later. And then I started selling the Disney Star Wars era books and have begun to even cleanse Dave Filoni's Clone Wars from my personal canon of Star Wars as he was just as involved in this garbage as Harvey Weinstein's former assistant.

Honestly, Disney plummeting has been a long time coming. It started when they fired over 300 animators, stop producing 2D animated films. It continued with perpetual "okay-ish" live action remakes, it continued to build as Park Maintenance & TLC declined in quality. Thus the rides break. Then came the over abundance of constant Marvel content shoved down are throats and then finally we get to Star Wars....the Prequels were good but flawed, the Sequels truly SPLIT THE FANDOM ALL ACROSS THE BOARD, and just when the Mandalorian glued Star Wars fans back together, Disney decided to once again....flop. Plus they over priced the parks! They made parents mad! This has been building and now here we are.
Are you looking for wonderful stories and characters that bring a lasting impression, or do you merely want 2D animated films? Be honest.
Releasing a 2D film would only be nostalgia pandering by this point.
I also suspect you never liked Marvel to begin with... but that's not Disney's fault.
It's somewhat ironic that the fall of Disney is much more interesting and original than any of their recent output. How low does the stock have to go before they realise they are in trouble?

WHAT they do not understand is my kids are completely void of Disney now... This isn't 30 years ago when everyone had DVD and VHS. No When I say after canceling Disney + the next generation has ZERO exposure to Disney now. Disney has only a few years to turn this around before they are done. Then there will be no driving force to visit the parks. The content drove the visits to the parks not the other way around.

I think a big thing Disney failed to think about when they tried to expand the audience and drive away the original audience is that the original audience are now parents & grandparents that would have exposed a younger audience to it for them….. if it was any good. I took my girls to the first 2 Rey movies. We all walked out of the second one not much caring. My girls have never asked to watch a Disney Star Wars movie & they are not interested in watching any of the shows, even if I want them to watch them with me. So, Disney, drive away the old audience = drive away the free exposure they provide along with the money they would spend to expose a new audience to the ip. Tickets, Toys, etc.

I think Iger and others at Disney/Lucasfilm knew this show would be a failure but the $180 million was spent and they put it out anyway. They should have done what Warner Brothers did with the Batgirl movie and shelved it .

At this point, I don't even think Luke can "save" Disney Star Wars. Partially because Hamill is a raging leftist, but more so because we know his fate in Disney's version. That's not a fate I care to see Luke go through.

@treystephens6166 It's not that simple, as he hailed from a country that Spoke German and was apart of the German empire, after all World War 2 was born from the aftermath of the first World War and the financial crash in the 30s, at least the Europe side of things, not sure about Asia as it was never really talked about in the stuff I seen for the War!!

It might be random but the thing that stood out to me early on was the interview with Lesley and the lead actress and how they both said that they would definitely without a doubt be on the dark side. That they liked the dark side.
I know to lots of people that will be seen as inconsequential but it was just really immature-for adults in leading positions having values such as “oh it’s so edgy” and such. Like an emo teenager.
Plus the obvious of flat out saying they don’t hold values such as integrity, courage, self sacrifice in high esteem.
Funny thing is, I never watched this crap, but know as much as I did through all the hilarious reviews of the show, and most importantly the people behind it - so they managed to deliver great entertainment in the end 😅

I remember back when I was young warthog that my family looked forward to Sunday nights because Disney was on channel 3 and it was truly a family affair. My entire family including my older sisters were all sitting in front of the TV to watch Disney s entertainment offerings. What a sad thing it is to watch happen. Not only a beloved franchise like Star wars is destroyed but Disney itself is.
I can't believe that "Mayor of Kingstown" was #10. It's a great show, and it's unbelievable that Renner actually filmed it after getting run over. The dude is a machine. That is all, lol.
Ron doesn't understand. Star Wars is a fundamental mythos. It's like Tolkien. The OT will still be picked up by successive generations, it will still be handed down from parents to kids, as Tolkien is. So will the EU literature. Don't conflate the mythos of the Star Wars Universe with the current Disney Lucasfilm iterations. They are NOT the same and will not be viewed the same. Indeed, the current garbage will not be remembered outside of memes.
the EU and Disney are different but Disney will absolutely affect the popularity of the EU. The movies and show are the pipeline to being interested in the EU. Disney hurts the reputation of EU.
I grew up near Yellow Springs, Ohio--a sort of liberal oasis smack in the middle of the hard pan of conservative Ohio. Every day after school, I'd put on my roller blades and skate down a bike trail past Antioch College and a dense forest into Yellow Springs.
One day as I skated past the forest, I thought I saw an assault in progress. I saw a hooded man dragging a prostrate man in blue jean bibs and a plaid shirt into the forest.
I skidded to a stop as I neared and asked what the Hell was going on.
The Hooded man explained he was setting up a test for his son. He was dragging a mannequin into the woods and was going to hide it in a tree. His son would then walk down the path, come to a fork and choose a path. If he took the correct path he would end up looking into a tree with a mirror in it, if he took the wrong path, he'd encounter the headless mannequin.
"So, you're giving your son a Force test, just like Yoda did to Luke in Empire Strikes Back."
"Exactly," the man said.
I shook my head and continued my skate.
So, I wonder how many dads will be Force testing their sons any more. It's a shame what Disney has done to the spirit of Star Wars and the dreams it inspired.

It is. We go to Orlando about every 18 months or so. We hit every park down there including Busch Gardens. Our next trip isn't including Disney at all. The massive expense of going there, the complete collapse of customer service, the assassination of Star Wars, and their disgusting agenda of pushing one political ideology has finally killed it for me. I just can't bring myself to spend money there anymore. Disney+ canceled too.

One thing Ashoka did good was not kill the only actress in the first five minutes of the show. You hire a great actress and not get rid of her before the title scene.

Glad Len brought up that even John Williams can only do so much to elevate terrible story telling with his score. I can't say there's an instantly iconic bit of score from the ST by John Williams like he did with the OT & PT. Rey's theme from the start of TFA is supposed to be the most iconic bit of music from the ST but I can never recall it and have to go back a listen to it again. Compare that to Duel of the Fates or the Imperial March / Vaders theme just about everybody knows those bits of truly iconic bits of score.

Oh man, I'm just a casual Star Wars fan who never watched any series made my Disney and it's sad to hear that I care more about the franchise than some longer once big fans. For the record when I watched Phantom Menace and Clone Wars basically back to back I enjoyed Clone Wars more, to the point where it might be my favorite of the prequel movies.
