Disney used to touch our hearts, now they touch us inappropriately.
Hahaha. Nice one.
😂😢
EXCELLENT!
No they were always touching people inappropriately
Black guy is the kind of guy who'd complain there isn't enough diversity in, say, a period piece set in rural England in the eighteenth century.
Race Grifter. Nothing more
This is why shogun has been so refreshing of a show. No black samurai no lesbian dilemmas just pure authenticity
Most likely was the one that complains Shogun not having black man in it.

I wonder if he'll complain that there isn't enough diversity in a black family unit, or a in piece of art made in Africa. Not enough white people, you see.
I recently came across a definition for woke films/television:
"Woke replaces character with identity, and story with ideology"
Brilliant!
I'm gonna use it every time someone asks to define the term 'WOKE'
The only ideology is the racist and sexist ones like you . That’s not the definition of the word
that is absolute poetry. im going to remember that phrase for a long time to come.
Woke is about tags for people who have no freaking idea on how to have character and personality. It´s not easy to say "i´m a recovering alcoholic who turned his life around and is contributing art to the world", as that entails years of insight, hard work and recognizing your own failings. It is easy to say "I´m a bipoc polyamorous non binary apache helicopter" None of those things mean crap but suddenly you have "identity" and a bustling community ready to welcome you and ready to destroy the world alongside you. It is the extremist brain at its best. Can´t evolve? can´t create? can´t become something on my own? I´ll just take it, and play victim when I´m called out for it.
I just took a screenshot of this comment. I will commit it to memory. Thank you for sharing.
Hero meets villain, villain gets the better of hero, hero goes on a journey, meets some friends, maybe falls in love, hero faces off against villain, villain gets defeated, hero prevails! Throw in a few jokes/comic relief characters. It’s literally that easy!!!
It's not that easy. If you are making a story for women they have an aversion to seeing women struggle. It's also why the hallmark channel sucks.
The only way you can depict the struggle of a hero is if it is male. Women can accept that, except that's patriarchy or something. So enter Mrs. Marvel and Rey.
Boring. Let’s see something original

Blackwashing real characters is an absolute audacity and should be legit pointed out as rewriting history. Depictions of Cleopatra, Atilla, Isaac Newton, Anne Boleyn and many more for better ESG score should not be allowed. I would love to see a reaction to Martin Luther King depicted as paraplegic non-binary Asian.
Making biopics about famous people is always terrible, they are always lies, simplifications and even when done very well, like in Lincoln, they leave out very important layers, like the fact Lincoln was an awful racist, just less racist than most at the time. so all depictions are terrible. People need to just understand that their "heroes" are fake characters in the first place, and a person with any basic historical backgrounds finds movie depictions of any single human as disgusting. Therefore they should have no problem with any other inaccuracies placed on a famous person, because the movie is itself fake. That is why they should be fantasy, or at best metaphor for a fake representation we have been sold of a famous persons life.
@@user-tp4ii6hs3l that's... childish. Look at this: "Lincoln was an awful racist, just less racist than most at the time". This is a reaction of a young child that just figured out what momma and dadda do when they say they're "wrestling" and thinks it's "icky". It's like "I had 5l of copium and I STILL can't deal with the fact people are HUMAN".
While movies aren't meant to be taken as documentaries; they ARE meant to depict someone's life with a "best foot forward" mentality because this is HELPFUL to the society; this shows us what heroes are and teaches us - no, compels us - to possibly emulate this. Lincoln didn't have to abolish slavery, has that ever occurred to your childish mind? They could've done like the arabs did at the time; castrated the slaves to keep them docile and the population under control; and we could've had that society today. The ONLY reason we have a free society is because these "awfully racist" people decided slavery was wrong. Churchill, the awful rude narcissistic drunk, didn't HAVE to stand up to the 3rd Reich, he could've joined and we could've had the Third Reich now. Tesla, the introverted insaniac with debilitating OCD didn't HAVE to invent all of the awesome stuff that built our civilization, but he did. Einstein, the dude who married his own cousin, didn't HAVE to give us a revolution in physics, but he DID. You're not ENTITLED to heroes, you GOT them because they *wanted to make the world a better place*.
Have you ever wondered what being a hero even means? It's not "being perfect, virtuous and godlike in every way", that what a little undeveloped baby would think. Being a hero means "going out of your way to do the right thing in spite the difficulties and your own flaws". Biopics are meant to inspire. And why is it necessary to be correct about the VERY PERSON? Because nations they belong to are inspired by that person and they DO NOT get to have that inspiration taken away. AMERICA abolished slavery first. AMERICA. Lincoln was a white American. You do not GET to depict him as a Japanese trans woman, because Japanese trans women don't GET to take that away from America. Just like Tesla was a Serbian man, and you do not GET TO take that away from Serbia by depicting him as a mongolian lesbian.
Now, I understand it's very painful to hear this, especially if you're young. Today's young people can't suffer to be inspired, because they absolutely refuse to be exposed to any incentive to better themselves. They created a "fat acceptance" movement to not ever have to lose weight, they claim mental illness to not have to study, and percieving all the heroes as worthless scumm is a part of that. Because if Lincoln was an awful racist who did nothing worth any mention, and might as well be replaced by a Fillippino grandma, then you can feel great about doing nothing worth while yourself. We get it. We despise it, but we get it.

The black guy on the end says, "People want diverse films."
No, they don't. Most people want good films, that appeal to their interests, and they're happy for some of those films to be diverse, if it makes sense for the story. There's a huge difference there. Nobody is entertained by diversity itself.
Heck I wanted to be Superman as a child! I was a teeny tiny little Black girl. I coud not look any less like Christopher Reeves. Yet it did not matter at all, I could relate to the point of wanting to be HIM.
Exactly right there I’m like oh they want to make a movie about say a black samurai and the story was amazing and didn’t go oh I’m black and these people hate me or something then alright but they can’t make a good diverse movie because they want to treat them like they are victims and you need to feel bad for them.
This is the one. “Nobody is entertained by diversity itself”
This is the comment that sums ALL of this up.
Exactly. Only a tiny, narcissistic, racist and delusional portion of the audience actually go to movies to see “diversity” (i.e no white men).
The rest of us just want good movies with engaging characters and writing. I couldn’t care less what race or gender the actors are as long as they’re well written and I’m not being preached to for 2 hrs.

At least as much? That’s the only reason these movies have been failures.

Everyone forgets that Blade was one of the first Marvel movies, and nobody cared that he was black. At least, it wasn't the main attention, but when Black Panther came out, it was supposedly it was the first black superhero movie, and everyone went out in drones to see it only for that reason. Movies were always diverse it just wasn't the main focus.
First Black panther, Captain Marvel only did well because of Infinity War/Endgame, being so for the connective tissue in all movies.
Plus, Black Panther recycled the plot from Lion King, it wasn't a flop because it had decent writing, they stole their writing from an already popular source. Also, if you set your movie in Africa it makes sense to have a black cast because the majority of people in Africa are black. That isn't true of the western world.

It's been killed off since the me2 movement and the writer strikes, even if it wasn't, you destroy your own movies for yourselves by buying into the outrage content grift that people like nerd and critical put out there. Why do you think they hardly ever talk about things that they think are good?

Take a look at "The Old Guard" for a movie that, imho, does representation (gays, arabs, blacks, women) pretty well in their main cast.
You must also take into consideration how they treated Johnny Depp. They found him guilty without any evidence and have never apologised when a trial found him innocent.
That's because "the justice system is corrupt and part of the patriarchy!" It's not that they were wrong, that certainly couldn't happen. After all, we have to believe all women.
Aye. So much is happening as if they hope we ignore the past.
And now they have gender swapped jack sparrow 🤭🥴
As much as I sided with Depp - both him and Heard were proven to have lied at various points in their trial. And he did lose that trial in England. Where as he won the trial in the US. So his employer is free to make whatever decision they want on that
Same with That 70s show actor. In his second trial.

What an awesome segment.
As someone from the 90s why are people acting like there havent already been thousands of excellent "Diverse" actors already.
Because that would go against their ideology, so it has to be ignored.
Because obviously there has never been any black actors ever in the history of movie making, and it’s about time that changed.
Sounds stupid, right? But that’s their logic.
Because that happened naturally, this shit today is forced
Exactly. These people are creating problems that don't exist.
When I was kid in the 90s my favorite actors were Wesley Snipes, Jackey Chan, Eddie Murphy, Jet Li, Chris Tucker... I even liked that silly superhero movie with Shaq. Nobody made any fuss about them being black or asian. Suddenly Disney wants to act like it's some breakthrough that they put a black man in front of camera and you're raYcis' if you don't like the movie.

The only misogynist on that panel was the Pillsbury dough boy who hates women as part of his chosen identity.
so according to his logic if he sees a hot good looking muscular guy that he fancies well that makes him a misandrist. nothing wrong with a straight guy liking a straight woman. its an attack on straight people by a minority of sexual defuncts who have no idea what it is to be straight. Its just hate

Did this guy seriously call the black woman Candace Owen Jr? For someone who claims to care about diversity, he sure was willing to put black women in a box.
Why is that surprising? Just think of all of the slurs that leftist blacks have for free thinking blacks who hold other positions.
They're not about diversity. That's the problem, people keep thinking that woke is about diversity, it's not. It is a racist ideology hell Bent on destroying society. If they were really worried about diversity, they wouldn't have fired Gina carano, And isn't it funny that every diverse character is always woke, we have diverse characters that can be conservative too, but they never use those, they always use the far liberal lefts
Only if they step out of line, clearly. He knows what's best for them!
He said later in the interview and I quote... Misogyny aside 😂
They don't care about diversity, they really don't. That's why Disney should get sued. If they actually cared about diversity, why is it always people who are woke are the ones representing diversity?

I'm so glad to be watching a video on this. I've noticed an alarming drop in quality in the Disney Star Wars content in the past 18-24 months, with increase in quantity of poor storytelling content. I thought I was in the minority in my observation, but now I see the numbers show it at the box office. It was upseting to me some 18 months ago, but now I don't care anymore, they should reap what they saw. It's sad because I was a big SW fan. I used to be a huge fan of Pixar. But now I don't know wtf, seriously. I think it was their GREED that killed their profit, it's that simple. They take a great premise, they create a great number of content from it, with very little proper research that quality content needs. But instead they focus on quantity and scale, adding in as much identity politics in like theyre adding chilli in a dish, thinking it will bring them profit, but it wont. Content can't ne just quick and shallow copy paste and tape it all together.
PS: The comments about breasts were so gross and sexist. Yeah, let's objectify women and cheapen our entire point. smh

Has anyone else noticed how often Ernest looks off to the side? I’m genuinely curious what’s catching his attention! Maybe he’s checking out some extra notes or there’s something interesting off-camera. Any theories?
I never understood when people label, paraphrasing, "You're pretty" as misogynistic. How is that hateful? They're saying they like the person. That's not hate, that's appreciation.
A comic page have been making its way around the internet for a year or so about if women complimented men the same way they do women. If men hear a compliment from a woman and believe it genuine then they're walking on clouds for the rest of the day.
The meaning is literally flipped backwards... and its because most people who think that would be misogynistic are backwards.
If you go back and watch him he barely smiles at all and never laughs. People like him are they thing they claim to be fighting, he is hateful, he is miserable, he wants everyone to be like him, to remove joy and beauty from the world. Its why post modernist art looks like a drunk threw up on the pavement.
What's worse is when a woman says it's misogynistic as if she is speaking for the entire female world. She is NOT! I'd rather get a compliment either by a look of appreciation or words from a man than a fake "you're so pretty!" affirmation from another woman.
Imagine if every single time you left the bathroom, some dude would show up and say condescendingly, "It's important to wash your hands." How might you react? Well, at start, you might say to the guy, "Well duh, of course". The second time? Yeah, probably the same. But then try to imagine, for a moment, that no matter where you go or what you do, the guy keeps showing up stating the same line. Go for a movie? There's the guy on the screen again telling you it's important to wash your hands. Go for a dinner at your favorite restaurant? He's sitting right behind you, telling you to wash your hands. At some point, you can't take it anymore, you scream to the lunatic, "Leave me the Hell alone. Stop telling me what what to do God damn it!" And that's when he says, "Well, only people who don't wash their hands would be bothered by my statement, so, um, you're obviously a part of the problem."
That is Woke ideology.
That's attributing far too much unearned merit - it would be more accurate in this analogy if the advice he gave was completely pointless at best & actively harmful at worst.
@@Coconut-219 Well, maybe I should expand on it to the dude wanting us to wash our hands in acid or something...
Anyway, the idea was to point out that the things that these busybodies are so per-occupied telling people to do are stuff that they're already doing - stuff that any sane person would do - like treat people equally and don't be genuinely racist/sexist. I don't need a movie telling me to behave nicely or be more tolerant.
But yeah, I do see where you're coming from. Woke, quite often, is not "do not judge someone by the color of the skin" but rather "you are not allowed to judge (or merely hold an opinion) because of the color of your skin/gender etc."
Having said that, my allegory was mostly focused on method. I don't really care about the message one way or the other. I'm not too bothered about what the dude screams at me when I come out of the bathroom. What bothers me is that he keeps screaming. That and the (seemingly) never ending contest of whose hands are the cleanest.
I like this analogy.
Ah yes woke Ideology. If such a thing exists
You missed the part where you’re excommunicated forever for your race, sexuality or religion
We do not want diverse films, we want films that make sense in the context of the story
Esther Krakue is right: even Disney/Marvel's non-spinoff movies--like the Eternals and Shang Chi--have been panned. The Eternals is the clearest example of identity politics being the guiding principle. Vilifying an established hero character Ikarus, who just coincidentally is a white CIS-het man, is a little too on the nose. The story wasn't the focus: the ethnically, racially, and sexual-orientation diverse characters were.
