.exe pasta checklist:
- Find the game from a shifty source.
- Used copy.
- Game is "Normal" for a while.
- Split-second weird thing.
- Game is Normal.
- Longer weird thing.
- Game is not as normal now.
- Game Character has now changed.
- Game is very different now, blood and gore everywhere.
- Game Character dies.
- Main Character turns off game.
- Game Character comes into the real world.
- ???
- creepy pasta
Now that you've quantified the trope down into these simple to follow steps, it's just as easy to take this trope and put a spin on it that actually is a little spooky. Probably not terrifying, because c'mon, nobody takes EXEs seriously anymore for good reason. Here's my proposition to make an *actually* spooky EXE story.
- Completely remove ".EXE" from the title of the pasta. ".EXE" leaves a bad first impression on the reader due to the inherently cliché nature of most .EXE stories, the viewer is going to be expecting cheap tricks and won't be nearly as interested in the story. Let's try a different type of naming scheme. Maybe the version being played is apparently some kind of unfinished "beta build" of the game.
- All that blood and gore? Get it the FUCK out of here. Maybe keep a little body horror but keep it at an absolute minimum. Instead we're going to be cramming some abstract horror into the story instead. Create a convoluted story and confusing imagery that purposefully sits dead in the middle of uncanny valley. Uncomfortably unfinished cutscenes with no music or voices that cut off mid-way through the cutscene. If we want to scare someone we're going to be using psychological terror, a much more effective means of scaring someone than "Aaah!! Spooky!!! Loud and in your face with blood!!!".
- We want the game to be weird right off the bat. Sure, maybe it seems like a legitimate playable game at first but we have to make it obvious that it's a very old and unfinished version of said game. Instead of an immediate switch in gear to spooky imagery, we're going to use a slow and gradual descent into madness as the game just gets weirder and weirder, becoming more self aware and more intense, with stranger atmospheres and locations that are sit waaay to low in uncanny valley.
- The last and final piece, is that this story isn't a story. It has to be a game that the player experiences. A story cannot properly convey the same emotions and feelings as a game. When you're making a creepypasta based off a game, you need to MAKE a game. Otherwise, it's just a myth.
You put all these together, and you may just have yourself an unnerving experience that sticks with the player.
@@sympleton7439 Agreed - for every 20,000 bad creepy pastas, you have something like the Mario 64 Iceberg, or Catastrophe Crow, or SOME of the Anti-Piracy Screen things floating around.
I have a script called "The Playthrough" that's similar to what you've listed.
Bruh
And of course “hyperrealistic”. There’s an entire troll pasta about this: ua-cam.com/video/eWB-x4afO08/v-deo.html
@@sympleton7439 Absolutely a better style to these stories. I love the idea of creepy or scary atmosphere. Tip though, a good idea is to also go for psychological scares that creep them out with no jumpscares or loud noises
I appreciate hearing Muta reading a bad creepypasta again
I said I appreciate Muta reading a bad creepypasta, I already know that YuriOfWind is still doing them.
yeah
The wave of nostalgia hit when he did it :(
@Sadist Fake Bootleg Tiki does he really tho? Hes abandoning his channel every few months last i checked
All that was missing was "hello guys and gals welcome back to another episode of haunted gaming" Muta reading a pasta is almost more nostalgic then sonic.exe
The most unrealistic part of this story is the fact the disc didn't break in shipping.
Agree
I remember watching muta all the way back when he made haunted gaming like the one in the vid
Me two mate
YES!!! I miss Haunted Gaming
I missed those days... but I don’t think I should check his new content because... it’s been a long damn time.
@@vanndymaywho1910 deep web browsing is fairly good. He's kind of attempting to get himself back into horror stuff, but he wants to be himself not buckle to what others say
@@lycieae8879 thats not exactly true, hes been doing stuff that people ask for, like the meme and twatter videos.
If anything hes buckled a long time ago and its been pretty successful for him, just not his older forms of content (obviously)
"Masterpiece"
Heh, that tickles me.
raspberry tickle bear
that tickles my pickle.
@@manboy4720 :flushed:
Wow listening to imaru and muta do a collab it take me back to the my immortal days nice touch with the SOG intro man nice vid!
just seeing that intro after all these years sent that chill of nostalgia through my body :') so many good memories
@@averin5193 you and me both man
To this day, I am both amazed and confused by how long this “character” from this cringy story managed to stay remembered for almost a whole decade. Was it because the fandom refuses to let anything related to Sonic die? Was it because of genuine intrigue of the demon within the trashy writing? Or was it something more? I mean this “character” has been in fan games, mods, animations, sprite battles, rap battles, has so much fan art, hill act 1 has been remixed by plenty of people, and probably more things that I don’t know about. No matter how you feel about the “character” or the source material, it’s honestly impressive.
i have an aswer. edgy children who think blood + animal is scary lol
@@katodo8598 it is cuz pewdiepie streamed the game+sonic
Same reason other trash managed to stay relevant, like Jeff the Killer: edgy fanboys that don't know better.
Kinda cool that SEGA themselves acknowledged it in their twitter, so it’s as canon as Herobrine in Minecraft lol.
ig liking sonic.exe is like a guilty pleasure
i still watch luigikids content cuz ngl some of the fangames for sonic.exe are actually pretty good at being scary like the pc port game
29:04
this was so unscary that I got jumpscared by the circus music
Seeing the original SomeOrdinaryGamers logo legit made me screech in happiness.
6:30 OMG THE NOSTALGIA IS REAL
Number 15, Burger King foot lettuce.
@@CreeperthanPasta, Yep, quite the throwback... And it will get even longer for those in the elderly age, probably one of the most nostalgic memories we would have.
It was then that I realized that I was NOT playing Street Fighter 5....
Is this that "Succabus" creepypasta? I remember watching Yuriofwind's Bullshit Creepypasta Storytime video on that one years ago.
my gawd an updated narration of mutahar.
I can not unhear the other .EXEs while hearing this. A mix of "Bob.exe" and "I Slightly Dislike You" kept coming up.
100 IQ more like 0 IQ
YEEEEEEES! Bob.Exe is another favorite of mine next to ISDY and Warioware Not So Smooth Moves!
@@AmethystRebellion I just remembered Hitler.exe and those smechsy pink eyes....
@@Echs_One I remember Mario.exe and I thought it was cringe lol and why does every creepypasta need a black eye with a red pimple and blood on the eyes
i really like sonic.exe fan games like spirit of *heck*
And nightmare beginning
Hearing Muta reading Sonic.Exe again hit me with the nostalgia hammer so hard
god, I fangirled over the old SOG intro
He turned from a guy just wanting to make a sonic creepy pasta to a satanic worshipper to his own spawn and then back to a normal person
That's one damn character development
@@SSFplayer2 one comparable to those of the creepypastas themselves
6:30
wow holy shit it's like a time machine back to 2011
I forgot about Muta just driving around in GTA5 reading creepypastas thanks for showing that clip brought back some memories lol
While I laugh at the author's reaction and call to arms, I can't help but laugh at creepypasta too. Like who the hell do they think they are? Highbrow literature?
faxxxx
I liked the story and thought it was interesting. But in no way is it a “masterpiece” JC went waaaaay overboard with that rant
Ah Sonic.exe, the terrible creepy pasta that served as inspiration for the amazing troll pasta hitler.exe.
I can’t get Hitler.exe off my head for some reason
That was my favorite fucking trollpasta.
SAME!! Every time I hear this story I only get flashbacks to things off that troll like *_"The little swastikas was cum soaked and upside down, the figgel1941, was now instead, figgel69 and the water had turned white! LIKE SEMEN!...Except it looked SUPER ULTRA MEGA HYPER REALISTIC."_*
The line of, "I'm a BIIIIIIG Hitler fan" will never not be great
That thumbnail makes sonic exe look like he’s confused and done with some shit at the same time
PaleBlueTARDIS he realized that his existence is a mistake and is now looking for a way to end his suffering
as soon as i realized this was with muta i was hyped
Ngl, it took me a minute to recognize mutahar's voice
oohhh muta’s intro gave me nostalgia. I listened to his creepypasta narrations all the time and still do
The spooky skeleton at the end scared me more than the entire story
feels nostalgic hearing Muta read a creepypasta, especially Sonic.exe. The very first creepypasta I found and honestly thought was kinda creepy for a little while lol
I came when I saw the OG SOG intro!!!
3:10 TBF, JC has since apologised for the rant and even admitted that his writing skill isn't the greatest.
Source? I’d love to see it.
EDIT: 5:22 is the time stamp. Glad to hear he’s calmed down a bit. Haven’t seen much of the remake, but from what I’ve read, it’s at least a little better. Still not good, but he’s at least trying to improve.
He's also a sex weirdo.
The history continues with Sonic.Exe making an appearance in Miitoon’s Sonic Villains, as a computer virus created by Eggman with Sonic’s bio data and the phantom ruby.
I remember how much Sonic.EXE had scared me as a preteen and an early teen.
Nowadays I realize how stupidly edgy it actually is and how many cliches there are. It’s pretty similar to the ridiculousness people see in Shadow the Hedgehog. I mean it’s a video game character haunting one man’s life wanting him to suffer his own personal hell.
While it does prove that anything can be truly scary mostly thanks to a shock factor. Hell, even something like “Can Your Pet?” managed to keep early teen me up for a full night just for the ending alone. However that scariness can only last for so long until it becomes very old. That is unless new material comes out, and all we got was Sally.exe, and Sonic.exe version 7. And let’s face it, Sonic.exe V7 pretty much killed the game’s potential with one of the most edgy voices you can give to the hedgehog. IDK why they decided to give him a voice in the first place. He was much more creepy silent. Leaving you with the feeling of the unknown as the “monster” communicates with you.
This video is too hyper realistic for me, I'm out.
God I forgot just how bad that pasta was
This is so fucking weird. SOG originally introduced me to Sonic.exe almost a decade ago and it made me shit the bed. Now I'm hearing him reread it in a satirical/history video. Crazy
god that old someordinarygamers intro was burned into my head and i just couldn’t figure out who made all of those videos until now.
I feel like a lot of these old creepypastas really benefitted from the era they were written in. A big part of why they were so creepy at the time was because I don't think people were as familiar with things like Photoshop. You'll notice that it's often an iconic image that's usually better known than the actual stories themselves. How many people today actually know the story behind Jeff the Killer or Smile.jpg? I think an era where Creepypasta wasn't so readily memed on and it wasn't commonly known that people online would use photo editing software to create scary-looking images. You would see an image and your brain would initially parse it as being a real photograph, and the memory of initially seeing those images really stuck with you.
Most of the time, even back then, the stories themselves kinda sucked. But the image (which often isn't even paired with the creepypasta originally) would continue living rent free in your head for a long time.
Sonic.exe is one of my childhood nightmares. I will never forget him because of that fact
I love listening to videos like this while I'm playing a game. I hope you make videos similar to this one.
Literally the best person to have on this sort of topic. Great stuff!
I adored listening to Muta read Sonic.EXE in a similar style to his Haunted Gaming videos, It really took me back.
Shoulda read HitLer.exe instead, but then again at least this one let Kyle in.
I can see why Mutah's recent video would lead me here. Awesome Video Novika!
Really enjoying your Sonic vids!
Ayyyyy! Imaru! It has been A MINUTE since we've seen ya! Hope you're well man, love to you and the SOG crew from Pittsburgh PA! The Wario.Exe trollpasta video is still one of my favorites!
You guys had an encounter is what I'm suspecting?
This is so nostalgic, horrible creepy pasta, Imaru and Mutahar collab
Great video
Awesome, never thought I'd hear muta read a creepypasta again
That nostalgic Muta intro and the music AHHHHH
ah man hearing muta reading creepy pastas takes me back , muta's actually the reason why i got hooked on them
Sonic.exe can be horrifying if you do it right also, he did get the last when I saw him blow up in popularity at first, I thought I was living in a different reality but......realizing the concept now it is pretty goshdamn interesting.
Being so scared of this fella as a 7 yo in 2012 and then reading the actual creepypasta (I was just into the game) is really sad, the story is not good but people were still terrified
Hearing this is nostalgic. I remember the days when you and muta did the demonic mortal Komatsu cartridge. Good old days.
This?
(Muta rereading sonic. Exe with the classic intro)
This is beautiful.
your accent makes the video very enjoyable, good vid
Summary: Novika gives a lecture about some raging furry who can't write for shit. Meanwhile, Mutahar reads about his old friend, the god of the recycle bin.
i can't believe this creepypasta traumatized me and scared me so much i was actually shaking and crying when i was a kid lmao
Amazing that I get to listen to this masterpiece a year later lol.
Ah yes, this reminds me of my young self who was obsessed with Sonic.exe... I fucking hate my low standards back then, granted I still enjoy Mark’s video on it.
even daddy muta can't reread the original story without completely taking the piss lmao
I remember you reading trollpastas back in the day with Mutahar.
Oh god the original SOG intro takes me back
Ah the Mutahar segment reeks of nostalgia...
Ahh the old SOG intro I swear nothing will ever top it
This is the only creepypasta I ever got into. I would show the game to everyone I could
The lightning during the reading got some spooks out of me than that entire story.
NOOOOO WAY
THE OLD SOG INTRO GOT ME!
YESSSS
So, I love the story, it holds a lot of nostalgia because I was young when I first understood it, and it always freaked me out! However I don’t think it has aged well, and it has been *WAY* too overused...
Also the hell is wrong with the author?
muta reading sonic creepypasta is something I've dearly missed
Yo this is dope
ITS FINALLY HERE!!!
I remember when I was scared of that "I AM GOD" image.
Ahhh, The Memories.😊🥰☺️
Oh god. I miss sonic exe. That creepypasta inspired me my OC, the nick name that I used for so long (it was SonicExEbr, then JullsExE and now it's either JullsFoX or JullsExE) inspired my drawings and so many other things. It's so funny now remember that all of this came of a bad/funny creepypasta that a long time ago scared me when I was just a stupid kid. Chills. Literally chills.
Yep. It's me, Julie Senna again. That time I am on my art account (I dont have any good video and I am trying to have courage to post my drawings...) anyway, I still have the ExE on my nickname. I just can't let go this little ExE just because of the old and funny creepypasta hahahaha. Good video by the way, I love it. Good day for everyone ❤

3:29 this time stamp is for my sleep
Out of everything in this video the fucking outro scared me lmao
Came here from muta. Never heard the tale. I’m not sure how I’ll sleep tonight sigh my pet hedgehog next to me
the scariest thing in this video is the sheer amount of over-taking in the background gta5 gameplay.
Even if he’s not returning for good, it’s nice to hear Muta read some internet trash!
Loved the og sog intro 👌
Didn't expect to see muta here
Every sonic channel must mention sanic.txt with .jpeg blood
Fun fact: the author of Sonic.exe draws macro fetish art, including but not limited to fetish art of a more stylized interpretation of Sonic.exe himself
Tom: *plays the game*
Kyle: *you had one job*
this was several months before that big fnf mod. we didn't know. we couldn't have known
Top 10 crossovers.
To be honest i've been getting a bit more into Sonic.exe, specifically the PC Port Remake. The designs are interesting and the game is actually fairly creepy, without relying too much on blood.
Nice video dude.
Oh what is this? A youtuber with low subs that makes some nice content? Found a gem on my recommendations today i see.
That Pikachu got me a little bit.
To be fair millions do love it, guess certain minds with the imagination and ability to look past the weird bs to put themselves in the main characters spot in how it'd be spooky from that angle.
Or those that like the idea of sonic.exe himself, it's good fuel.
That and seems like the author is that type of overreacting highly imaginative type. For better or worse.
Nostalgic af
I’d listen to an audio book done by Muta
Its ok muta we understand that you had to get ut off your chest that your secretly a massive sonic fan.
Avgn is still going strong
It’s the only consistent show on cinemassacre
The only read scare was the friggin sudden outro
Welp guess i wasnt the only one scared by the outro lmao
The nostalgia!!!
This is good
At this point if someone made a cult over Sonic.exe I'd both cry and laugh
Alright, I'll create a sonic.exe cult now
Sonic.exe is the name of the story and program, the character is technicly just sonic but was dubbed as the file name by fans
UM ACHSUALLY ACCORDING TO OFICHAL SANIC. E XE LORE THE NAME OF THE CHARACTER IS "X"
Mans is underrated
