- Sonic.EXE is one of the oldest and most infamous creepypastas in history alongside Slenderman and Jeff the Killer, and when he was first made, he was little more than a joke to most people. Despite that, he had a small but devoted following that kept him alive and showed how much potential Sonic.EXE had. This video will go over his journey from his birth as a meme to where he stands now as a creepypasta icon.

That was truly amazing now ive only been a sonic fan starting at the beginning of this year and i can already tell its not going to be a faze and i started watching your videos a few months ago and i got hooked! i was also curious about what other sonic fans thought about sonic exe and it was horrific the story the way some of the bodies got distorted just so scary! Im a horror fan so of course i was eating it up the way you described some of the environment and his details on his body was perfect i loved reading this and i like the idea of sonic exe trying to mimic the original sonic and going through and explaining his horrifying background i loved it !!
Honestly, since Sega has acknowledged EXE I would love to see him in as a boss in an official game

I feel like they should just add him in as some sort of secret boss with a redesign that fits the age rating of the Sonic games, like maybe tone down that monstrous smile and replace the blood with an unknown black liquid that's reminiscent of tar.

@@jimmyjeff1777I would also like to say my opinion. The only reason I think he shouldn’t is because the point of Sonic.EXE isn’t the characters suffering, but you, the player, seeing all of it. (That’s why I’m not really into more “in-universe” depictions of him like “Exetior, Exeller, Zalgo and etc). But it is my opinion and you don’t have to agree in it.
From my point of view, the greatness of Sonic.EXE's modern-day resurgence doesn't stem from the original concept being scary in any particular way; rather, it comes from the community's awareness that it ISN'T. We know the original story was a trope-riddled clichefest rife with tryhard stupidity, but we don't care or try to hide from that. We instead embrace those aspects of Sonic.EXE's origins and use the character as a medium through which we can express our creativity in a self-ironizing, yet entertaining way that celebrates the original story's tropes in a parodic manner akin to how "Scary Movie" pays comedic tribute to old slasher films.
I feel like no other modern Sonic.EXE character concept encapsulates this better than Xenophanes (which is, unfortunately, pronounced Zen-off-ah-knees due its Greek origins). Xenophanes of Colophon was best known for writing satirical poems that mocked his society's traditional values of wealth and gluttony, but also suggested that humans can't (and really shouldn't) try to discern whether or not an objective meaning to life actually exists. To me, Xenophanes (the Sonic.EXE design) applies that line of thinking to the concept of Sonic.EXE and the world of fan works in general. His design may be over-the-top and edgy, but who cares? He looks awesome, and that's reason enough to like him, cringe culture be damned. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, you don't need to justify your preferences to anybody.
This is an amazing way to describe the community. We know that the original Sonic.EXE wasn't scary, but the potential was there. So many people have taken the original concept and expanded it in ways that I didn't know were possible. Xenophanes, Lord X, EYX, Fatal Error, Faker/EXE, Xendio (which isn't as well known but I like him a lot) and even stemmed out to other characters like Eggman with Starved. All disturbing aspects of Sonic.EXE that the original just never capitalized on or just flat out fumbled because JC doesn't know how to write competent stories. I'm proud to be a part of the community given the state it's in now and even have my own EXE that I'm working on simply called YCR. It's a work in progress and probably won't see the light of day but that doesn't bother me

As someone who has been in the Sonic EXE fandom (then transitioned to the regular sonic fandom) for about 2 years at this point, you did him justice in this vid. The exe community, while yes has skeeltons in the closet from the whole drama of framing Revie, InfiniteJR, MadmanHalloween, JesterFrog and so many other horrible, the community in general is so fun to be in. I was lucky enough to make connections with people like KGBepis, Dylan, Jack Gore, Kenny, and so many other awesome exe creators. Theyre genuinely so fun to be around and are so creative. Yo dude ive also been in the sonic exe fandom for a long time but most people just give up trying to tell other people how strong he is simply because most people just dont care and its mainly cause of how bad the original version of sonic exe was I bet if someone made a video explaining why people like to downplay sonic exe it would mainly be because hes poorly written but either way this creeypasta changed my life forever

At one point in my English class in 9th grade when we were learning about the Underworld in Greek mythology, the teacher wanted the students to make up a monster of their own, my monster was called Infinity (named after Infinite) and his origin was that he could not stand living due to how corrupt and disorganized the world was, at one point he heard of seven rubies called the Chaos Crystals (which are based off of both the Chaos Emeralds and the crystals from Rise Of Lyric), and they were known to contain infinite power (hence his name) and after he found all of them, he became the most powerful being in the universe, his power is that he can control humans and what they think, and there is absolutely no way to defeat except for stabbing him in his brain, which is not very easy to do, in fact, he was so evil that he went as far as to call himself God and kill Satan and his demons. He is based off of several demonic Sonic characters, EXE included.
I forgot to say this, he's also based off of Vecna from Stranger Things.
In my school in their vr game, the main antagonist is the demon Goalius, and he is dangerous. The character you play is the pokemon character Lily with Snowy, and there are seriously scary sh.t like Furness destroyed with his master dead Tails doll singing the ultimate custom night new problem theme and finally Fatal prime scared sh.tless hiding in Lily rotom phone warning her about this and after she entered a red blocky arch she found herself as her 5 year old self and sees Goalius smashed through the roof eating the corpse of her missing father and to beat him you need to hit all 4 lights and the trap once done Goalius is immobilised by a offscrean gigabolt and forced to tell what he is which FYI is the good ending even with a fourth wall joke with a text from mom that she ordered new parts but the nightmare ending (no bad ending but instead there's nightmare ending) where if you transfer Fatal prime to Furness the Goalius looks different by having a crain arm holding the head and spine and organs of Sonic.exe and after that the game ends with a jumpscare from Goalius and after that he shows up at the end breaking the fourth wall by telling about the cast he killed

Amazing video on Sonic.EXE! When I was younger, his story unnerved me a bit. Now that I’m older, I know it’s flawed but I still really like the games that came from it retelling the story. The creative horror imagery is my favorite thing about them.
I love the FNF mod too, Triple Trouble is one of my fave songs and Sunshine & Roundabout are really good too. The fact that this mod brought EXE back but also changed the FNF modding scene was insane. I’m really proud of how far the demonic hedgehog has come!

It's a crime that you haven't even included Sonic.exe Nightmare Beginning as one of the exe games, it's quite literally the one that broke the "walk forward to always lose" formula and reimagined the creepypasta in a way that includes sonic.exe as a being in the sonic universe rather than presenting the story as a game in the eyes of fiction, i would say far more important than PC Port

@@tonysonic456 ok but complaining aside, you should check out JaizKoys and the NU (Nightmare Universe), it's a reimagination of sonic.exe that puts it into a cinematic universe full of lore rather than an analog horror type of thing, though i sure hope it won't be difficult to keep track of the story
I was like 5 when Sonic.EXE released.
By the time I was in Elementary school, I had been a regular old Sonic fan (as regular as a 6 - 10 year old Sonic fan can be) for... I forget how long but it was awhile. Point is, I was already deep into the rabbithole of Sonic fandom when I discovered Sonic.EXE. This thing was cool to me. I even drew it on my schoolwork, which, looking back, were complete shit. I couldn't even get a cube right.
However, I appreciate that simpler time. The bloody blue bastard wasn't good at all. God no. It was garbage. But it got me into horror in the same way FNAF did.
And, years later, it got GOOD.
I never expected the guy to make a return but I wasn't disappointed. It was the 8th grade when Sonci.ex resurfaced with the fnf mod and everything. By that point I had gotten into more "generally accepted as terrifying" horror media like r/nosleep or The Thing. It was kinda just a pleasant surprise to see .EXE again.
But then update 2 dropped and completely captured my attention. How the hell is it awesome?
I got back into sonic.exe and have never really turned back. Even through all the oversaturation, the children who probably shouldn't have internet access yet, the drama, the cancellation of the original mod, blah blah.
I still enjoy this stupid thing.
Plus I absolutely love music.
Sonic.EXE is a mixed bag, but man am I here for it. I think it's worth the gamble.

I was so excited when I first got to this point. I love the selection.
I honestly really like Sonic.exe! The only thing I dislike are the creators, with most of the developers of the mod framing one of their own for a disgusting act and the original creator of Sonic.exe committing said act. I'm sorry for talking about that here, but it's just hard to ignore at this point. Love the characters, but the actual creators... Nah.

I'm giving Sonic.Exe more respectful and Developing character as a my favorite character, even I can't imagine having him on my nightmares all the time. People find it boring to play the game started back in 2013 as a young kid. However origin story of sonic exe was completely make sense because of this demonic nature version of sonic with that he really is. Thank you for the story, tony Sonic 👍🌀

It’s hard to believe Friday night funkin brought this guy and My guy Fleetway back into popular, and it’s interesting to see Sonic.EXE a badly written creepypasta become one of the best Creepypasta ever made and yet I just found Jeff the killer is now known as one of worst written
Technically it brought back guys who like og exe type of games(go right and die) and its mostly the Usa/western Europe community of S.exe. Eastern Europe was watching NU and playing NU games by Jaiz Koyz, playing The spirits of hell and its sequel, creating new exe games with more than one ending. So exe died in Western part of community but was brought back by fnf mod,while eastern community was creating other non canon exe format games(Nightmare Begging, Continued Nightmare, Finished Nightmare, Spirits of hell, Whisper of Soul, The destiny etc).
Btw with fleetway i agree he (died) after comics ended so mod did a great job bringing this guy back.

The fact that you can scale any version of sonic exe to boundless is crazy whats even more crazy is that people simply deny because hes a mid written character but if he was a well written character i bet you no one on planet earth would have a single negative opinion on him
I mean, I've never hated Sonic.exe, but I was never that interested in it. I don't really play a lot of horror games. I'm not a huge fan of scary stuff since I mind of think they're scary, yet they're boring. This is just my opinion. Don't get mad at me. This is just how I feel.
Honestly something i know will probably NEVER happen but i would absolutely LOVE if the Sonic team could include "Majin Sonic" in some way, shape, or form (though preferably with a new name as i dont think he has an official name, just the fan given nickname) but keep the whole "higher being" concept and retool it as a deadpool-type character (make him fully aware that he's a character in a video game who's knowledge of the 4th wall has basically given him the power he has) and have him show up when stories are at their darkest/Serious/or most somber to cheer everyone up, including the "player" (it's made VERY Clear that he's talking to YOU but when the others look who he's talking to, its just one of the look-alikes so not to fully break immersion,) he might tell "You" to get backstage after his show, and just tell you "Dont take the game so seriously, getting so worked up over a game about a blue hedgehog that runs at the speed of sound probably isn't healthy" more or less explicitly saying "yes I know im a video game character of a parabolic series, and i dont let that get to me, why are you out there, letting the weird things get to you?" (Even poking fun at stuff like 06 and Forces and other less popular games with lines like "yeah even I have to admit her (Elise) kissing him (Sonic) was WEIRD" and "Eggman's most successful attempt at world domination to where he practically won, still kinda flopped in the end" and lines like that) in essence make "Majin" the voice of the development team. Plus i could see him being the one saying things regarding non-story game things (batteries running low, saving data, ect. One i can imagine is for the "you've been playing for a while, maybe you should take a break" saying "i know my tagline is "the fun never ends" but even I know to do some things in moderation and take breaks sometimes, plus variety IS the spice of life after all" not saying "stop playing and go outside" more "im not gonna tell you to stop playing period, im saying if you want to play something else, thats cool."
That's how I would use "Majin" in a current sonic game, or you could use him as a "museum curator" for "Collections." Games that function as Bundles of Old Games (like the mario 3d legacy collection that had 64/Sunshine/Galaxy as a bundle deal or Sonic Origins/Plus)
Oh yeah fun fact in the Tails Doll song the Can You Feel the Sunshine part apparently there wasn't supposed to be arrows there you had to memorize the color that was on Tails dolls antenna and then press that key so that it'll make the song harder

X's Real Originalities: When the Void still existed, it accidentally created a dark cloud of matter that roamed the void with no goals or challenges, then there was a crack in the void, then multiple realities appeared after each crack. Then it stumbled on one specific reality: Sonic the Hedgehog. The dark matter was interested in taking on Sonic's form. After that, he made a universe like Sonic's but in gore, horror, and bloody. Although he made his universe, he decided to go into Sonic's universe and make his own empire there instead. After he killed his frist victim, he gained a surge of energy. He found out that he can gain power by killing victims. And he already knew who was his next victim.
I've seen many .exe games of course ones like Pc port, nightmare beginning, spirits of hell, round 2, sally.exe, shadow.exe, silver.exe and Sunky.mpeg
I'm a month or 2 late but I wanna go find some script or something that has EXE's lines, then record em in my own interpretation of the spooky fellow, next year maybe? or I could just do it on Christmas or something. Thanks for helping me revisit this lads origins

You know, when I first read Sonic .EXE several years ago, I wasn't really scared of it. The content seemed like the author wanted to one-up Shadow the Hedgehog with its try-hard edge. The fangame made from it wasn't that much impressive either with stupid stock screams. But when I watched Old Man Reads Creepypastas yesterday, I fully realized how ridiculous the story was. Why was the author so obsessed with counting down seconds? Why didn't the narrator bother to turn off the game or leave the room? And was he really a Sonic fan when he didn't know that fourth wall breaking existed as far back as Sonic CD and Eggman was playable in several Classic Sonic games?
Unrelated but question: Do you dislike me and DS? I ask xus I saw that one comment of yours on Rol where you accused him of shuttling Tony when he just said the video was flawed.

at some point, I'd suggest maybe doing a second video on the EXE community nowadays if you so wish, mainly covering the fan content you didn't cover here (like Spirits of Hell & stuff like Sonic.EXE: The Disaster being some examples) and maybe some other FNF EXE mods
an example for the latter is a REALLY good upcoming one called "Sonic.EXE: Rerun", and even though it doesn't have a confirmed release date, it looks really promising so far - there's a couple of songs that have been released like Top-Loader, which is based on the "SONIC HAS PASSED" Corruption stream from Vinesauce, and a release trailer that came out a few months ago
there's even a Rerun remix of You Can't Run called "Traditional You Can't Run" that, whilst it's not in the mod, is probably one of the best remixes of it out there at the moment

Sonic.EXE has inspired me to create lots of things ever since I arrived on the internet. And thanks to him and the new official content that keeps coming out thanks to Joe, Raven (formerly Revie), Shei and the rest of the crew, I myself am still creating to this day. Without him I don't think I'd be watching this video or be where I am right now.
However, there are a few corrections to be made in this video.
2:32 The story actually was released on August 9, 2011.
25:21, 35:41 This aged kinda poorly considering Raven was actually FRAMED by some former members of the team and was actually innocent of a lot of wrongdoing. From what I hear they only got back at her for some Minecraft trolling and nothing more, it just got way too out of hand.
46:26 There was also another Twitter post with a grayscale Big the Cat turning normal Sonic 1 footage into footage of the ROM hack "Sonic 1.EXE Reborn". It came from 2017 or so, so yes, Sonic.EXE has indeed been acknowledged by SEGA.
I would also like to suggest looking at songs for two upcoming Sonic.EXE FNF mods, Vs. Sonic.EXE Rerun (which has drastically changed direction from just being a .EXE revival), and the new official FNF Sonic.EXE mod, Sonic Legacy. The latter of which, as it's official, is directed by JoeDoughBoi himself, and he and the crew have a lot of new projects for the bloody-eyed bastard coming soon.
Yeah, I only knew basic stuff about the Raven situation and didn't know she was framed. Also, I'm keeping small tabs on Rerun, but I've got my eyes locked on Sonic Legacy. Obituary rocks, man.

Though, I do have to make 2 corrections on this vid. 1, The creepypasta was created on August 13th of 2012, not 2013 like you stated. And 2 .EXE'S didn't really die out, they just got became really poor quality, Crash, Gumball, some others I can't even think about, got really poor .EXE games that only seemed to have gotten worse with time. It was only until Sonic.exe Nightmare Beginning that came out in 2017 that made the .EXE resurgence.
But I remember those good old days before Crimson the Bat became My5tCrimson....
But I don't think this game would have gotten any notoriety if it wasn't for 2012 horror letsplayers, and Luigikid.

Okay, I CANNOT be the only one who thinks .exe is really an alternate version of Mephiles that copied Sonic instead of Shadow .
There are certainly similarities, but I seriously doubt he’s Mephiles. I mean, Mephiles doesn’t have a mouth, and EXE’s most notable feature is his mouth.
I've been thinking about this. Mephiles not having a mouth was because his form was a corrupted copy of Shadow's but... what if it WASN'T Sonic he copied, but someone else. Someone who also has glowing red iris and black sclera. Someone who doesn't have a mouth NORMALLY, so the corrupted version would be to give this pony a mouth. Someone who already has ties to technology.

6th, overall, I think Sonic.Exe is a great character, I've actually had ideas of a Sonic Show where he (and the exe versions of the other characters along with others) become the main antagonists. Great video, and ill read that story
1. From what I've heard, he was supposedly grooming teenagers and just being a total creep. I've also heard that he was framed, but I'm not sure.
2. The guy was basically harassed and chewed out. Don't know much more than that.
3. I find it quite creepy too. Someone even pointed out that the original track is like if people were laughing at Sonic's death, but since it's now reversed, Sonic is now laughing at you.

Its kinda unsettling that Sonic.exe could exist in another dimension far away from the Sonic Universe. But I think Sonic could defeat Sonic.exe.
Because remember, Sonic has the chaos emeralds. If Sonic wanted too, he could just go to the master emerald with the chaos emeralds and just turn into Hyper Sonic and defeat Sonic.exe. Kinda like Solaris from Sonic 06 or the Bio Haszard from Sonic AD2.
After all Sonic has way too many abilities that he has. Sonic.exe wouldn't even stand a chance. The fight would be over before it even began.

Sonic EXE was actually made in August of 2011 the game for it was in 2012.
Essentially anytime somebody mentions a video about sonic.exe it is inevitable that at some point he gets mentioned being in Friday night Funkin. Not literally that's the game that Revived the entire thing the story the character. With a bit of a twist added in him. Apart from the fact that mouths are coming from his mouth that has for some reason a normal tongue (I'd expected something disgusting) sonic.exe entered his Resurgence if you will. Or rather WE did. Revi and his team are the reason why Exe matters anymore. Don't get me wrong the other co-owners are good. Joe dough boy is an example. But my point is. If you're covering a creepy pasta character. 2021 is where he gets Revived entirely.
Edit : the fact that e x e is a God makes it all the funnier when the player beats him in a rap battle! Because even a god that can reality and look harmless as a plushy count defeat a demon that can for some reason put a force feared around her boyfriend whenever she wants to!

Although the find songs are great and same with the sprites, bf being cocky during the whole thing and gf looking careless makes the powerful demons look like a Saturday joke which is something that carried on in everything which Hypnos lullaby v2 being the acception.
That's because BF is stuffed to the brim with plot armor, and GF is the physical manifestation of that plot armor. It only breaks in very rare instances which makes for some terrible characters, but thankfully, no one plays FNF for the story.
And the moment that this is broken, people whine and complain cough cough Mario madness v2 cough.

Sonic.exe (the original story of it anyway) is a lot like Sonichu. It sets the bar to entry so low that almost anyone can make a better version of it
But unlike Sonichu, it gained a following that turned it into something good.

Slight correction to a video that's a year old by now: EXEs aren't necessarily Sonic-based. There are EXEs based on other series too, including Mario, Undertale, and so on. Hell, I actually have not just a standard Sonic.exe take, but an EXE-adjacent character based in _Death End re;Quest_ of all things.
