The name "Sonic Adventure 3" can actually refer to two games: Sonic Heroes and Sonic Unleashed. Heroes started development as SA3, but the name was changed due to the game being Sonic's first multi-platform game, and Sonic Team didn't want to alienate new fans who haven't played the first two games. Unleashed also started development as SA3, but was renamed as the game drifted further and further from the Adventure games. Though I don't think SA3 has been released yet, I do consider 06 to be the spiritual SA3 until Sonic Team actually makes SA3.

Sonic 2 Special Edition was actually a hoax and was never in consideration.

A 3rd storybook game was actually considered and would release on Wii U, but due to the weak sales of Black Knight, it never entered development. And it would've been about pirates, the most awesome combination of a storybook premice with Sonic imo.

Naka was actually the one who approached Sakurai to get Sonic into Melee during E3(?) 2001, but Sakurai told Naka that while he did think it would be a great idea, there was simply just not enough time to implement a whole new character into the game. Hideo Kojima also approached Sakurai to ask to get Snake into the game, but was turned down for the same reason as Sonic. This is probably why Sonic and Snake were the first two 3rd party characters to be added to Smash.

Ugly Sonic was not a publicity stunt, as filming was more or less complete by the release of the original trailer in April 2019 as far as I know, as the movie was set to release later that year in November. However, due to this, every scene in the movie was filmed with Ugly Sonic in mind, who is a bit taller than Final Movie Sonic, so a lot of the framing looks kinda awkward with FMS. There's also the fact that almost all of the merch based on the first movie uses Ugly Sonic, as I assume all of the merch entered production long before the original April 2019 trailer.

The "Robotnik is the Hero" theory is easily debunked as Eggman pretty much wants to turn the entire world into Eggmanland from Unleashed.

Clearing up some potential confusion: The Cowgirl in Casinopolis in SA1 is only in the original 1998 Japanese version of Sonic Adventure, as there was a re-release in Japan called Sonic Adventure: International, which is the updated US version with a different title screen logo and the language defaults to Japanese. The original 1998 release also has the chao sound from Chaos in the Tikal flashback in Super Sonic Story, which was removed from all later versions. International is also the version that DX is based on, unlike what many people think, in that DX is based on a prototype of the Dreamcast version, which is completely false. The bugs and glitches in DX are just the results of shitty porting.

"Robotnik is a hero" entry somewhat makes sense because originally he was going to be the protagonist and the hero, but then his role was changed to villain and Sonic becomes the hero.

I'm not one for stealing, it's bad. However, this is a special case. Whoever stole that beta of Sonic 2 from that toy fair is a god damn hero.

The original game sucked, the creepypasta was bad too, but the fangames (in my opinion) are WAY better. Sonic.OMT is basically Sonic.EXE but way better. Then they remastered the original, following the original story, but making it again (in my opinion) WAY better. The death seens are much more brutal, the characters dying isn't one high-pitched scream, instead it's WAY brutal. Incase you wanna play this, even though your probably not even in Sonic.EXE, I won't say anything more.

I feel like a lot of these old creepypastas really benefitted from the era they were written in. A big part of why they were so creepy at the time was because I don't think people were as familiar with things like Photoshop. You'll notice that it's often an iconic image that's usually better known than the actual stories themselves. How many people today actually know the story behind Jeff the Killer or Smile.jpg? I think an era where Creepypasta wasn't so readily memed on and it wasn't commonly known that people online would use photo editing software to create scary-looking images. You would see an image and your brain would initially parse it as being a real photograph, and the memory of initially seeing those images really stuck with you. Most of the time, even back then, the stories themselves kinda sucked. But the image (which often isn't even paired with the creepypasta originally) would continue living rent free in your head for a long time.

i know this video is 2 years old, but sonic adventure real life photos refers to how sonic team, on a trip to Mexico, took many photos. some of these were used for textures in sa1.
