I’ve watched you clean your garage, chase a lemon across town, and now make a lens cap look as dope as humanly possible. You rock! See you at Vid Summit! 👊🏻
Ideas without action or executions are nothing but thoughts. This was a great video, really interesting to see you working through the creative process
This hits the heart. Whenever you act even on the smallest idea, the more original you can often become. For example, I'VE NEVER seen b-roll of a lens cap. lol Perhaps this is often the cause of creators block because we're looking for something big, which often hurts us in the long run because subscribers are just simply looking for content, and any idea can be good content.
Peter, I have a (serious) question for you. A while back Matti hired an editor and I thought you did too (but I might be wrong). How many of the past few videos have you edited yourself, and how many did you have edited by someone else?
@@StreetSoccerInt I'm almost positive that he has. I believe he still edits his tutorials by himself, but these latest vlogs drastically improved with the right use of sfx and compositions. Therefor I have reason to believe he has someone helping him. I'm a firm believer of: "just because you can't do it (or know how to), doesn't mean it can't be done" but his "way of vlogging" has changed a lot over the past few weeks.
Peter aside from your tutorial videos, THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY my favorite video of yours. So much effort goes into the transitions to make it seem effortless. Thats the beauty it accompanies a crazy ass video talking about something so powerful thats misidentified and taken for granted.. > great transitions and story telling man.
This guy right here is the reason I have started to THINK about my goals in life, what I want to do ! Pick up the camera and travel the world 🌍, see what a beautiful planet we live on ! Thank You Peter ! Big inspiration! Greetings from Poland ! PS. Any plans on visiting Poland ? Maybe you want to see the hidden gems of the country, I think you would love it here , so much content to be made ! 😁
Casey and peter have really honed this style of video blending a vlog with their thoughts on a particular topic, helps the audience feel closer to the person behind the camera
Love this! Thinking this way really helps to alleviate any "self doubt" that what you're posting isn't the next "big thing." Sometimes less is more and can be more unique....like a lens cap vid!
Exactly how I approach my creative process. I accept the smallest silliest ideas and take my best shot at them. And my thinking is - every small idea that I realize will home my skills and prep me to tackle that big project over the horizon.
I sent this to my team at work even though we work in a completely unrelated industry because this video was like a punch in the gut. How many ideas have I left sitting on the table because they were "stupid", "a waste of time", "simple"... too many to count. Thank you for this, truly.
This truly helped me to understand myself a little better. I have previously struggled with ideas, thinking that the one that I have is going to take me where I want to go. But that is just a big fat lie. An idea you execute on is a project that you can complete and be proud of, that is such a healthy perspective. Thank you, Peter. I appreciate you
Gets notification while editing my instagram stories 😂 and the video was really hit me through the heart! 😂 I really often think that my idea is too usual, has no epic theme at all, and then I cancel the execution. But someday, I had an idea to make a video about the proccess of me creating the vanilla ice cream, and at the end scene I put my camera into the freezer just to capture the unusual angle, and suddenly 'BOOM!' a lot of my friend was really like the idea and they said that was blow their mind 😂 And I'm really halpy with that. Thanks pete for the lesson! DOPE!
Thank you for being you and providing inspiration and pushing those of us who are rookies to ac, not just watch a tutorial. If I watch guys like you and never go out and APPLY what you tuaght, I am not going to become a good creator, i will just be a good video head! I felt a little stupid writing my 1st script last night, but I wanted to push through and take action- even if it meant going through the whole process with a corny script that sucked. I wanted to experience the process, the experience of actually writing a script and later filming it, lighting, composition, etc... as a learning experience. I thought I would maybe write a paragraph or 2, but wound up with 4 full pages. I realized I was kind of liking my little original, pre- Halloween story. I didn't beat myself up being a rookie. I read it to a friend and he was like "YOU wrote that?" I was like- I know it's not great, but it has really good potential. He was like "No- I LIKE it. How did you even come up with that stuff...it's really good." It mixes comedy and horror throughout the story. Mostly comedy- until the horror ending. I can picture filming it, weird lighting, a jump scare or 2, interesting camera angles, etc. It's simple, kind of funny and has a gory ending that ends all the fun. Well, sort of. My friend was amazed by how the story ends, how it all ties together... and that really encouraged me. Thanks for inspiring rookies like me. We hear you, and dare take a leap of faith...into ACTION. I wanted to say thank you- again, really.
I've recently been filming my first few youtube vlogs and I've had this idea of doing one vlog episode a week and then one 1 minute video sequence of just something completely random each week. I got the idea after watching Peter's lemons for leukemia video. Seeing this lens cap sequence give me hope that it can be a fun idea to continue with!
Thank you for this! I always think that my ideas for videos suck and that's probably the main reason why i don't make a lot of them. You just made me realize that i should execute every single idea that i have no matter if it's good or not!
Hello Pete, I have been a fan since 2017 or 18, yet I did not start the channel immediately because I am always shy to make videos in public. But creating videos is what I am passionate about. This was an old video but I am rewatching it because I think I am ready to start getting serious of my channel this year. I really find it funny at 7:36 how Matti forgot to hide himself during this drone shot. hahahaa.. Thank you for all the inspiration and motivation you always share in your channel and also to Matti whom I am also following the same as you. Congratulations and keep up the positive vibes.
🏆🏆🏆🏆 This wins today's coveted "4 Trophies of Nastiness" award! One of my favorite videos of yours ever, Pete - so many lessons here that EVERYONE can take! Thanks so much, and since we didn't get to hook up in Toronto back in July, see you at VidSummit... 🙂👍
Some bloke you are mate 🤙🏻 always working!!! Hopefully one day I may get there on my channel hahahaha I've just been looking through most of you videos ❤️
Lens cap for real! In the end it is all about how to perform and show it. All about composition, lighting, colours etc. And just think about the idea of a "post it"...it is something so small..but important. Or a button for trousers. WOOOHOOOO!
Man this isn't a jab at Matti, but I love him in Peters videos... he's much more sarcastic and seems like his true self. Sometimes in his videos he projects almost an overly psuedo-positivety that doesn't seem genuine. No hate here, just wondering if anyone else sees that
Proud of you Peter! This shows how much you've grown as a creator! I feel like the "perfection" you talked about a year ago wouldn't let you to make it just because of an idea before. Good balance, great ideas . . . great video!
I just stole a small box of ideas from this video! Thank You Peter! This subject really is THE most important subject for creative people. Seriously. We we creative types incorrectly think this subject is about our talent/skill level; how well we can write, act, draw, paint...whatever...but it's not. In the past, talent was slowly 'worked on' in hopes of being 'discovered'....Those days are gone. Now, today, in the present, thought innovators like you are quickly manifesting an existence/reality and asking people to join them, they do, and the wave grows...sort of like surfing a giant wave of creation while talking into a camera! That's why the process has to be transparent and genuine or it won't gel. Anyway, thanks for the video Peter! Best Regards, Louis Pak
Never seen anyone make belfast look so beautiful in video! I just moved into the student roost housing you stayed in during the week and its unbelievable! Great content and powerful message, love it! definitely motivation to get out and do something while I stay in Belfast!
This is exactly my neverending struggle. I do actually write down the small things too, but just as you say, I end up putting them aside for the bigger stories, that I then don't execute either for whatever reason. At least I pretty much finished my latest project today. So progress is being made. Slow progress, on a small project without intrigues and kings and glory, but progress!
I SPY DAN MACE!!! I love when my favorite youtubers are shooting the same stuff so that I can see how different creaters can shoot the same material and present it differently. Truly an inspiration to my creativity!
Yes yes yes Pete this video will resonate with so many people. Everyday you go on UA-cam and see epic video drone shots, super buttery slow mo of things epic vlogs and you think to your self I can't produce quality video with great landscapes epic places all over the world. This just proves you don't need to, look around you and make the best of what you have the little details can make for something great. Just because it isn't the big idea ( like you said) doesn't mean it isn't going to be something no one will watch. I'm going to start producing content for my photography you just gave me a kick up the ass I needed cheers Pete 👍👌

I gotta say, Peter's storytelling has dramatically improved over the past year. I feel like this is something that a lot of people needed to hear! Sometimes even the smallest ideas can turn into something huge, so not every idea has to be crazy and complex! :)

I just started shooting video when I started riding bmx again. And I have to say your videos give me a perspective than I never thought about before. taking simple videos and shooting in a way that makes it interesting never even occurred to me before the how to make coffee video. Really enjoy these videos. Thanks for the tips!

And I have to say your videos give me a perspective than I never thought about before. taking simple videos and shooting in a way that makes it interesting never even occurred to me before the how to make coffee video. Really enjoy these videos. Thanks for the tips!
