Lot of comments. This will be lost in the crowd. A friend sent me a link to the video. I'm 75 and had stacked arms, had quit making photographs and had begun to stay indoors. I'm going out tomorrow to get a camera. Hadn't sold the lenses yet. Inspiration comes unexpectedly.
Please do so! I've had my camera for a while now, but dont know how to use it much. Been trying to do videography & photography for about 3 years. I dont know how to edit. I have a Canon 70d with a canon 50mm USM lens ( Compatible with full frame DSLR ) but my cam is a Crop sensor, soooooo my pics dont come out too good.
Peter - you’re such a captivating story teller. Both in person and through visuals. Amazing film, proud of you and the team that crushed this. Loved it loved it loved it loved it loved it!
I don't think I've ever commented on a UA-cam video before, as I feel like my thoughts will be lost amongst the thousands of other comments, however . . . I just wanted to express how much I loved this video! Your passion and excitement about photography are infectious, and at the end of this video I couldn't help but smile and feel incredibly motivated. Your channel is informative, entertaining and endlessly inspiring. You've found yourself another subscriber! Thank you for sharing your amazing work!
Exactly my thoughts! I never comment on UA-cam for the same reason, but this video made me smile, even have a little tear of joy, and it felt so in sync with what I experience when I take photos.... Damn I need to get a new camera and go shoot something! Great vid, great motivation speech, great story :) You nailed it Peter.
its not your life, nor you followers or success i'm jealous of most. its your excitement. The fire in your eyes when you talk about what you love. Congrats Pete. It's a great documentary.
The amount of times I come back to this video. It's my top video in my 'Inspiration' playlists. Simply because of the enthusiasm that PK exhibits. It always makes me want to do something similar. Peter, please make another one like this. Looking forward to seeing you on Master Class sometime, just to share more of your knowledge and enthusiasm. You've definitely inspired a lot of people, including me. Don't stop creating UA-cam videos, but don't burn yourself out.
Funny you say that, I come back to a few of his videos all the time. Mainly this one. Always wanted to make something like this. Peter has been an insane inspiration to what I do now as a full time job.
This wasn't about the photo. This was about knowing what you want and going for it. This entire video can be applied to literally anything that anybody dreams of. Love it.
I'm not a photographer and I still love this video. The Bucket shot is a metaphor for any passion or creative project. It's not so much about the output - the shot itself - as much as it's about the journey. I also really like that little "behind the scenes" of the Paris, photo as well. Thanks for sharing @Peter Mckinnon.
Incredible to think that every decision you ever made in your life up to that point, the journey and experiences that came with it allowed you to take *The Bucket Shot* 🤯🤯 - Amazing work my dude!
OMG!!! That's really an inspiring movie. You are awesome, dude! Totally awesome! To me, photography is an art. Every shot has a story of its own. Some may relate to it, some don't. But it doesn't matter. What matter the most is the experience behind every shot. Well done, Peter!!! Well done!!! This movie, really worth the wait.
I love that this wasn't just about the physical photo. The story and meaning behind it was mind blowing. This was 100% worth the wait :) nice job Pete (and team)

This is stunning, life changing work. I loved it so much - it goes beyond the editing tricks and the music and the views. It's about the story, it's about the connection, it's about the love and Ienjoyed all of it. Thank you for making this and for putting it on youtube to show everyone that you can start with a two minute Tuesday and you can grow and make something like this. Thank you Peter!

Watching it after 5 years again. Truly a masterpiece. I was a kid back then, watching this made me wanna become a photographer. I bought myself a camera, tried it for a year but don't know why quit it after a year. I still have my camera, and I guess I'll begin it once again.
How much passion, how much love in what you do... it's amazing how inspiring this film is for us!! Thanks Peter! You and the people you work with are such talented people!

Man! Seeing you pursue this dream and bucket list goal is inspiring AF! I’ve got a new fire under me to create something awesome today thanks to you Pete. Love the documentary man!!
Absolutely incredible. This made me cry. Cry of pure joy. Pure joy because this is how incredible photography is. As a 20 year old woman trying to kickstart her career in photography, whenever I find myself in any some sort of doubt, no doubt I will be back here... watching this video, reminding me why I do what I do. You are my favourite person on this platform, and my goodness at 2:30am in the pitch black of the UK sky do I now want to go out and shoot. Thank you, Peter. Thank you so much.
Thanks Peter! I'm a leg amputee (paragliding accident) getting into photography and doing a few amateur video's about life after limb loss. In Feb I found you on YT - you were the person who inspired me to do this. You've opened a new world to me, and you continue to inspire me when I feel like it's not good enough ... Thanks to your tutorials and vlogs I continued pursuing this this new hobby and passion. In May this year a prosthetic manufacturer contacted me to sponsor me with their #1 product. This has enabled me to start hiking again, going to outlying places on foot, carrying my camera gear on my back, getting out into the wilderness for the 1st time in 18 years. Your inspiration has made a huge difference to my life - for this I will feel eternally grateful that I stumbled upon your channel when I did. This video has upped the ante again - by the end of 2019 I will have my own bucket shot story, and I will have you to thank for it. You rock.
Your passion for your art shines through this video. I like how you show us through your storytelling that the payoff wasn't just achieving the goal, but rather the journey towards it which made achieving the goal that much more meaningful. Love it! Keep creating.
nope its probly from the people that dont enjoy having a very everyday and simple thing being drawn out in a long overly complicated story just for the sake of views and self grandeur. probly more that...people like peter get excited about being on display not the actual event. but for some reason people are niave to this and choose to filll in the blanks and presuppose genuineness. story telling is about the story, not the truth.
Dear Peter, I'm not sure if you would even see this (mostly probably you won't given the number of comments you get) but I just wanted to share with you the feeling that I have right now after watching this video. You could say I'm a UA-cam buff and even have a UA-cam channel of my own (Not this account and won't mention the name coz I'm not trying to get publicity here). But lately, actually for the last 2 months I haven't made a single video. I've been going through a very difficult time, kind of a burnout situation and there were situations I even thought of quitting and not making videos anymore. This thought itself made things even worse coz the love I have for film making is something beyond what I can express in words. This went on for 2 months and today I was watching this video (BTW I love your content and that smile that you always have), seeing how much passion you have for photography and the extends you would go to get that one shot that you always wanted to take, The Bucket Shot. This took me back to the days when I first started off making videos, the struggles that I went through and the learning experiences from each video. I still remember the day I said I wanted to make videos, everyone started to laugh and said that you can't make videos, you're not meant for that or the things that you have made are really bad or something like that. But now, looking back at those days makes me feel happy and proud coz I overcame all of that made videos, which eventually made me understand that this is something I truly love. Not just the videos , the entire experience is something one could cherish for a lifetime. Thank you for reminding me what it really meant to me making a video or taking a picture. I'm filled with happiness to say that you're one of the persons I look up to . And that smile on your face dude...it brings out a smile on my face even when I'm really sad. So thank you. I'm truly honored to be a part of this UA-cam family of yours. P.S. Now I feel like this is a bit too long and should have emailed you this. But Its all good.
Perfectly put Tony, you hit it on the head. Inspiring to the max. Sorry about the difficult days. For people who go through those moments. In a way they are there to present us these moments, that propel us out and to the biggest moments of our lives. Cheers to better days.

After watching a couple times through, I noticed the teal and orange theme. So impressive! It's not only in the color grade, but people's clothing, vehicles, and everything. Wow!
This is exactly why people should do what they love. This video gave me goosebumps. To all the VanLifers out there, I need to meet you! I'm on my way now with Harrison! Currently going around south of Lake Superior. Hope to catch some of you.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL color grading on this video. I enjoyed this video and the premise more than the actual photo. Yes the photo is BEAUTIFUL, but the premise of this video speaks volumes. Nice work as usual. Here's to continued success for you and the creative community
I feel the exact same way. 6 years ago I was also on a mountain. With a gun in my mouth. Idk why but I didnt pull the trigger. The next day I bought my first Nikon. Photography saved my life and I'll never let go of it. It is my peace.
i have never been more motivated in my life. you captured the exact essence of what it means to truly love something and to pursue it with everything you have. amazing.
I've been so uninspired and unmotivated with my photography pretty much the whole of 2022 but recently I've started noticing more and more things/places I want to photograh recently, then a few days ago my 11 year old granddaughter asked me if I still take photos, I said not really, she said I need to get out with my camera and start taking some again, then her mum told me my granddaughter had been singing my praises to the photographer taking shots of her gymnastics competition and how proud she felt because I've had a few photos published in my local newspaper. That has been on my mind for the last few days days. Today I came across this video, which is great btw, and I've decided to make a bucket list of the places I want to photograph. My granddaughter and this video have given me the inspiration and motivation to do something I enjoy, I can feel the sense of excitement at the thought of doing this. Thank you Peter and thank you to my granddaughter.
As a *Landscape Photographer* I love this! This is what Photography is all about, a beautiful location, getting the shot you worked hard for and the payoff! But most of all, actually printing an image so ten years from now, when you walk into a room, that picture still gives you that tingle... Great video...
I just sat there with a stupid smile all throughout the video and I think a tear or two trickled down as Pete narrated this entire journey with such grace and passion. Man, I LOVE THIS! ❤️ You're such an inspiration, Peter. Thank you so much. Cheers to a great Life! :)
DUDE!!! I can't even.. Kinda weird that my eyes got watery.. I guess It's not because the movie, but the story you told it means a Lot.. Basically you just told every one that there's no such thing as an instantaneous be patient, keep doing what you doing, and you'll be there.. this is not just a shot, but the entire journey and the movie is something that I want to always remember to keep me going in anything I do.. Thank you..
I love everything about this. The trip the shot the memories the friendship. EVERYTHING. Super inspiring. Makes me want to cherish each photo I take and remember it all. Thank you !!
Hey Pete. you asked the question what photography means to other togs. Im an automotive/motorsport tog in South Africa. I was diagnosed with Glaucoma at 15 and I'm pretty much legally blind atm. Im a retired mechanical engineer and so shooting is pretty much all I have now. Can barely see about a metre infront of me but I still want to shoot. to boil it down, Photography is MY way of showing appreciation for eyesight, and nobody will ever know how I feel when I nail a shot. So yeah that's what photography means to me as an individual. Appreciation for the god given gift of eyesight. I still consider myself as lucky as there are some people who cannot see at all. All the best for 2019, hope you have a great year going forward :)
You have an awesome story Imraan Gallo, one that will inspire people! God helps each of us to see things in different ways, and He has allowed you to view the world in a way that is totally different from anyone else, and that is amazing!
This is so heart-touching, Peter. This story is so inspiring. If someone got you to think about this specific shot, your story started turning my gears.
Hollywood does not lack competent directors and producers. That's not the problem. The problem is that the "Hollywood way" of producing movies is very quickly being obsoleted by social platforms like UA-cam. Original and creative content like this video would not have been possible in a Hollywood context from an economic point of view but it is on platforms like UA-cam. All those millions of dollars being paid to actors and directors in expectation of huge takes at the box office - that whole way of thinking is starting to feel very oldfashioned. That is the problem facing Hollywood. Not lack of directors or producers.
Photographs are like Tattoos 👏The stories and memories behind photographs are the closest things I have to tattoos. I love that analogy. Loved the film.
I'm a full-time professional photographer, but I could not care less about landscape photography. Still, what I love about this is the story: the people, the set up, the feelings ... the story. Thank you, Peter.
I actually do not have words to describe how encouraging that was. I know you will never read this comment but I just want to say thank you Peter McKinnon for the film, it was inspiring.
Badass storytelling for a gorgeous photo! You do a stunning job of conveying the emotions felt throughout the journey to create this photograph. Thanks for bringing us all along!
I think I have watched this video over 5 times, I love it so much. The feeling of myself doing what you do when I grow older as a photographer, and relating your experience to the experiences I had as a 15-year-old photographer when you worked hard to get to the location of the shot. Thank you so much for doing what you do and I hope you keep making videos like this.
A few years ago I went shooting with a friend. We went to an old fortress remains on the beach. There were two boys just hanging out there and we started talking with them. They asked us if we are professional photographers (probably cuz my friend had her bigass 18-200mm) we laughed and then offered them a shoot. So we all climbed to different points on the fortress and took a bunch of photos. We even handed them the cameras just to play with them a little and they took some pretty dope shots as well. All in all, we had a great time. They were total strangers before but they improved our day just by being friendly. And it applies to everything you do, not only to photography. Obviously, if we didn't have our cameras we wouldn't photograph them, but we would probably have a good time even without it. It's just the photography that was our motivation to get out there. Btw, I really enjoyed the film!
I absolutely loved it Peter, I feel like the narrative of this film has come out of my mouth a few hundred times in this last year. Its about the places, experiences and most importantly the I have people along the way that make the films and shots I have grabbed special. It blew me away how similarly we both came to photography I grew up with a dream of making music and spent every minute that wasn't behind a guitar or drum set outside skating, BMXing or jumping off something. The only time I picked up a camera was to catch the ridiculous things my friends were doing. Then all of a sudden many years later after chasing a "normal" career, family and everything along the way, then deciding to quit making excuses and finally go after the uncomfortable dream. I found myself with a camera in my hands and am currently obsessed, learning everything I can to hopefully one day make something that inspires people as much as this.
photography for me is an escape, its a chance to be alone with my thoughts and capture something beautiful whether that's beautiful memories or a beautiful shot. sometimes its not even about the shot its the time I get to spend reflecting. Photography has really taken ahold of me in the last couple years and has allowed me to express myself in ways I never knew I could.
Peter...You have something special. Your passion is infectious and it really keeps me going when I doubt myself. Thanks for the amazing film/life message!
You are truly too cool for words. You’re so genuine & genius so positive & passionate. Absolutely inspiring-thank you for reminding me how much I love photography and why. More importantly you are living proof that being positive and following your head, your heart, and your gut will lead you exactly where you want to be. You can’t imagine the positive impact you’re making-on your friends & family, the people you meet on all your adventures, the people who watch your channel-it’s immeasurable. Most sincerely and most appreciative, The Peeved Professor
It’s crazy how often the journey is more important than the destination. Absolutely loved how you captured both Pete! As ‘vanlifers’ from Barrie, Ont, we have driven (with our dog) our own self converted van from Canada and are currently in Colombia, South America and can confirm that the others were right when they talked about how great this community is. Thank you for inspiring the next gen of photographers/videographers. The knowledge you share online has been a key factor in our channels existence & growth. Would love to shout you a coffee next time we are in Toronto!
When you started talking about landscape shot . My heart melted . That is the exact feeling I get too. This video did something- idk what yet but def sparked a spark❤I put my camera down ten years ago cause life started life’ing. Maybe I’ll pick it back up
Hi Peter, great movie and it's inspiring. You may hear the News, all residents from Opal Tower Australia were evacuated since Christmas Eve to date including our family. We missed our Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, our anniversary, New Year Eve and more from our home. It was frustrating time of my life but I held on to it so I can protect the family. Then I saw your movie. It's quite a different experience from yours but at the end of the day it's the people and memory attached to it matters. We got to know other 300 apartment residents during this very period who we may never meet in an ordinary life. They are wonderful people and we are trying our best to have our home back. Your movie inspired me to see the life from a different angle through this tough moment. You made my day. Thank you. Alex
Talk about an artist that inspires, just crazy that 7 months ago i never held a camera and that this channel was a huge reason i wanted to start learning and have been gripped ever since!! Thabk you so much Peter McKinnon for inspiring me
April 2020. Still coming back to watch that video for like the 10th time... This inspires me. This makes me believe that one day this plague is gone and I will be able to get my personal bucket shot done. All of you who read this... Stay safe & stay healthy!
I rewatch this every so often and it gives me chills every time. The personal narrative is incredibly touching, but I love how he leaves off with “What does photography mean to you?” at the end.
Great movie! love it Peter

All the very best Chris.....your already inspiring people. Share the stoke and good. Be you!!
Your passion for your art shines through this video. I like how you show us through your storytelling that the payoff wasn't just achieving the goal, but rather the journey towards it which made achieving the goal that much more meaningful. Love it! Keep creating.

The 133 dislikes were the photographers that packed up and went home before the fog cleared lol! Sick Shot Pete!
Smack. Shots fired.
Amen to that!
And the rest messed up their card and deleted by mistake!
nope its probly from the people that dont enjoy having a very everyday and simple thing being drawn out in a long overly complicated story just for the sake of views and self grandeur. probly more that...people like peter get excited about being on display not the actual event. but for some reason people are niave to this and choose to filll in the blanks and presuppose genuineness. story telling is about the story, not the truth.
@@freelectron2029 you're crying on every single comments section. Get a life, man yikes 😂
Dear Peter,
I'm not sure if you would even see this (mostly probably you won't given the number of comments you get) but I just wanted to share with you the feeling that I have right now after watching this video.
Cool man. 👍
Perfectly put Tony, you hit it on the head. Inspiring to the max. Sorry about the difficult days. For people who go through those moments. In a way they are there to present us these moments, that propel us out and to the biggest moments of our lives. Cheers to better days.

Your comment came up second top, hope he reads it, but I'm sure you're not the only person with a similar story, peace and love
After watching a couple times through, I noticed the teal and orange theme. So impressive! It's not only in the color grade, but people's clothing, vehicles, and everything. Wow!
Yeah I never noticed colour grades on video but now I've really noticed the orange and teal.... so sexy, going to download it myself

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL color grading on this video. I enjoyed this video and the premise more than the actual photo. Yes the photo is BEAUTIFUL, but the premise of this video speaks volumes. Nice work as usual. Here's to continued success for you and the creative community
Absolutely 1000 percent agree
I agree
This is the type of content I want to see more on UA-cam. Thank you Peter
never been so captivated by a 25 minute youtube video, wow!
Yeah, I don't think I blinked for the whole thing!
isn't it crazy. Peter, the God of Film/Photography...no the God of the Gods
I didn't even realize that was 25 minutes haha
@@JeantyStudios well it was 23 minutes😂
Watching after 5 year, gives me goosebumps like re-collecting my lost childhood passion
I feel the exact same way. 6 years ago I was also on a mountain. With a gun in my mouth. Idk why but I didnt pull the trigger.
The next day I bought my first Nikon.
Photography saved my life and I'll never let go of it. It is my peace.
Woah that was a wild read, in a sentence you spun my mind around. Glad photography saved you! Art truly is a gift and a blessing
Glad you didn't pull the trigger. Keep pulling that trigger, brother.

Tatiana Rodriguez Leal we’ve got one going up today and one on Sunday! 😊

Somehow you make us happier for you than we can possibly be for ourselves. Hearts pounding before the moment. Best. Gift. Ever.
SO SICK!!!! Love Every Second Of It. WOW!!! Thanks Peter
I just sat there with a stupid smile all throughout the video and I think a tear or two trickled down as Pete narrated this entire journey with such grace and passion. Man, I LOVE THIS! ❤️ You're such an inspiration, Peter. Thank you so much. Cheers to a great Life! :)
You are right Nikhil...same happened with me..haha...than I thought am I the only one...😁

Imo, the most talented AND consistent frame composer / light painter out there on UA-cam. Merci 🙏
Just gonna drop a whole ass professional documentary like it’s nothing. Peter McKinnon is truly something else.
Hey Pete. you asked the question what photography means to other togs.
Wow, the long-awaited bucket shot... what an amazing story! That picture is truly breathtaking!
Peter should make a NETFLIX Series about this called "The Bucket Shot"
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS

Yes please make it happen Peter ma' man!

Hollywood needs directors/producers like you.......
They REALLY REALLY do.
Michael Berg cool bro

Badass storytelling for a gorgeous photo! You do a stunning job of conveying the emotions felt throughout the journey to create this photograph. Thanks for bringing us all along!
I think I have watched this video over 5 times, I love it so much. The feeling of myself doing what you do when I grow older as a photographer, and relating your experience to the experiences I had as a 15-year-old photographer when you worked hard to get to the location of the shot. Thank you so much for doing what you do and I hope you keep making videos like this.
0:00-23:17 was the best part. Thanks for this, Pete. ✌❤
Once again Peter proves he’s the best at what he does. Perfect music, perfect narrative, perfect color, perfect images. Nicely done!

Amazing movie. You're a great story teller Pete
You have nailed it
A few years ago I went shooting with a friend.
Amazing!
I found myself with a camera in my hands and am currently obsessed, learning everything I can to hopefully one day make something that inspires people as much as this.
well said
Crazy the place that life takes us isn't it?
photography for me is an escape, its a chance to be alone with my thoughts and capture something beautiful whether that's beautiful memories or a beautiful shot. sometimes its not even about the shot its the time I get to spend reflecting. Photography has really taken ahold of me in the last couple years and has allowed me to express myself in ways I never knew I could.
Peter "Legend" McKinnon, thank you for everything you've tought to most us starting photographers.
Awesome documentary Peter! Love it and it was worth waiting for it! Good Job!
Peter...You have something special. Your passion is infectious and it really keeps me going when I doubt myself. Thanks for the amazing film/life message!

Thank you.
Alex

I rewatch this every so often and it gives me chills every time. The personal narrative is incredibly touching, but I love how he leaves off with “What does photography mean to you?” at the end.
