Rather than letting your foam harden then cutting the excess, throw smaller gravel on it while the foam is half set. This allows you to flatten out the bulges of foam (eliminating the hassle and risk of cutting) and the pebbles/gravel stick and won't wash away with the water flow. That is what I did on my creek water feature anyway.

I love it. How do u get the water pumping back to the top if u have another video that shows me how to do it I would appreciate it so much. My son passed away 2 yrs ago at 38 from a massive heart attack. I am making a memory garden. I want to add a small water creek to sit out and hear the water and think of him and hopefully it will help me to heal a little even thought a piece of my heart has died with him. Thank you. U and ur wife are hard workers and I commend u both on a job well done.

If you just put some pond plants in the water to use up the nutrients in the water it should be fine even without a filter. Raccoons could be problem though. They've come and knocked a bunch of the surrounding plants into my water feature at night lately, and all the soil getting in the water has caused a lot of algae. But that's on me for having all that soil right near the water.

I use expanding can spray foam for all my outdoor projects. Works great to fill gaps and holds things in place very well. Your able to sculpt/mold it and I’ve used it to (make rocks or imposters) when I can’t find one I need. Bonus, it holds paint/stains very well so if it’s the wrong color and visible you can paint/stain it. I do use a clear waterproof deck sealer of flex seal clear spray to prolong the life.

Hi Travis . Posting from England. You're the first person I've seen
who says household diy foam is ok to use which is what I've been wondering.
Some experts say it's not fish safe and only aquatic foam should be used where fish are present. Any thoughts?

    • @travisjantzer
      @travisjantzer  3 роки тому +1

I did a little research and couldn't find a definitive answer. I did not use it any where they're able to eat it, and I figured once its dry there's nothing it can do to harm them. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I feel like the pond stuff "fish safe" is a marketing gimmick to double the price. As far as I can tell my fish are fine.

Very awesome that you just overlap multiple narrow liners over each other and it works out just fine as long as it is on a slope. Very cost effective, because if you buy one large liner it's going to be really expensive and have a ton of excess liner on the sides that you don't need. You don't need a big, splashing, multi-level waterfall to have a good water feature, the creek looks great. I love watching the aquascape videos, but like watching do it yourself water features on a budget because it's far more interesting and relatable, because that's what I did myself, and this is probably the best one I've seen.

im not really worried about the rain. It'll fill up and then just overflow out the bottom into the rain drain near the street. If you wanted to control flow you could glue a valve into the pipe and just dial it back a little.

First off I love this!! I built a pond, pondless waterfall and a fountain this past year at my house during the pandemic. The thing that I saw that may be a bit concerning is the foam you used. It’s technically not “fish safe”. It seems like it’s the same stuff but it’s not technically fish safe like the pond foam is. Just a heads up. You said you wanted to add fish so I thought I would give some feedback on that! I can’t wait to see what else you add!

I love these videos, and you have a real talent for it... The only issues are that liner will cause you problems later... it will not last long and is easy to tear... your best bet is an EPDM liner with a 25+ year warrantee and will last forever when covered from the sun... You should also look into creating filters so your pond stays clean... the top part of the waterfall could be turned into a bog filter pretty easily and getting or building a skimmer at the bottom will help catch debris and keep the pond cleaner... Keep up the awesome videos!!!

all the water recirculates with the pump. if could overflow in heavy rain but will just drain into the rain gutter in the street nearby.

Brilliant work! This gives me such a great idea! What mil is that liner? Here in Sunny Florida, I've got a giant sandy hole in the ground and I want to drop in a 300 gallon tank. I'd like to build a pond and keep it clear enough with only solar, no batteries and minimal maintenance (at most once a month). Possible?

Looks great, I will like more info about how do you pump the water? Now how do you choose a pump and for how many gallons? 🤔

Possibly! we planted a lot of ground cover to grow over the mulch. A few flowers here and there, but room to plant more.

Your project looks great!!! I have plans to do the same in my backyard but because I'm so limited to funds, after all the bills have been paid there was never enough money to do a project like this. My wife loves to garden and we buy plants to place around the yard. A babbling brook would be a great addition to her creativity. It would also let us use our backyard more since we are hardly are in there. I do have a few questions if I may ask...
    1. I saw that you installed the water line at the top of the brook to the pond without a waterfall. Did you just place the line directly into the upper part of the brook and let the water flow?
    2. You installed a pond at the end... did you use a standard pond pump to push the water back to the top?
    3. Final question... with regards to maintenance, I remember that you had a tree that you worked around in the original video before the transformation. Did you have the tree removed or is it still there? I have a tree in the middle if my backyard and I'm contemplating to remove it for this project.
Thanks for the great video... This has definitely inspired me to begin my project with no reservations.

Yea funding is pretty difficult sometimes. I try and cut cost everywhere I can. Hopefully things come around and you find the time and money to make something cool in your yard.
      - Yes, the pipe is dug in behind the liner and since its flexible I just bent it up and over the liner above the water level, and placed some heavy rocks on and around it to hold it in place. Ive had a lot of questions about hooking up pumps so i'll probably do a video about all that soon.
      - Yes, a pretty standard submersible fountain pump.
      - Tree is still there, no leaves right now so not super noticeable. I'm excited for a few weeks from now when we can sit under the tree in the shade by the pond and eat the blueberries we planted by the creek :)

I want to make a little creek inside my tegus enclosure. Its 8ft long by 4 ft wide. Is this doable? I was thinking about a spring style a trickle creek leading to a small pond actually the pond is a mason mix bin from Home Depot

По феншую сделал не правильно Вода должна идти в дом как доход и благость, а не утекать из него.
According to Feng Shui, I did it wrong. Water should go into the house as income and goodness, and not flow out of it.

Cool, congratulations! an advice, you have water loss due to capillarity at the edges, you must insulate with stones and that the earth does not touch the water directly

I decided to research so that when I get my home I can see how it's done. Even tho tour getting positive critiques on here you still did an amazing job. God bless!!!
