    Looking great, I used the regular foam also when I was building my pond this summer in all the areas that were not highly visible, and used the pond foam for the waterfalls and highly visible areas. I could by 5 (bigger) cans of the regular foam for the price of 1 can of pond foam. Worked out great for me. The new intro video is awesome btw :).

    Good Afternoon Mate,
    Thanks fer sharin yer information me friend, I did a 1 day build a little over a year ago, small creek about 5 meters in length, in front of our home in Oregon USA.
    Now goin REAL BIG, by building a MINE, where the new streem will flow from above, and ponding about the entrance ta the mine, which we can plant any assortment of minerals for people to seek out & find.
    The streem will branch off into two separate creeks that will flow over several acres into a 30x10 meter pond!
    The drop is natural & about a 1.5 meter drop.
    I'm by no means have a clue about what I'm doing & have learned from mates such as yerself that share their knowledge with others like meself!
    I was thinking about a series of small ponds that appear to be a part of the stream/streams beside them, however are merely an illusion setting up a series of smaller reservoirs, allowing me ta pump H2⁰ up the grade.
    Wondering what ya may think of the concept, or might ya believe that I should forgo the idea, & seek a much larger single pump system?
    Appreciate any information & input that you or yer amazing viewers may have!
    We are a Rescue Ranch that pairs our Rescue Horses & Animals with Veterans & peoples with disabilities & on a very, very, tight budget, & at 63 doing virtually EVERYTHING on me own on a tiny budget!

    Hi Kev. I am so amazed with your ponds. I am from the Philippines and just started our farm on a mountain top and we have dug ponds to hold in rain water for our use in the farm. It's a slopy area. Do we start fixing the pond from the higher area first? Since we had a mini backhoe come in, we took advantage and had them dig up a few ponds and increase the small creek already in the farm as water runoff during rainy season. Hope you can advice us. I can show you the diggings my son has done. God bless you!

    Hi Kev- Always gaining more knowledge from your informative videos. Question: For a High Flow Barrel Filter - How effective could it be on a 1K Gallon pond with goldfish used not with a stream and intake bay - but use it as a waterfall into the pond with the pump at the bottom of the pond? Updating a pond the former owner installed and there is no room to add an intake bay and or stream. Thank you for your insight.

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  Рік тому

      There’s always room for an intake as you can build it inside the pond. High flow filters are great the more bio balls in there the better. The more pond turnover the better.

    Looks amazing Kev. I'm looking at doing a small stream in my backyard, approx 3m. But don't have the space for much of a pond (probably around 100-200L of volume max)... anything I need to keep in mind and consider to avoid having a pond that empties quicker than the stream can feed it with water?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you need to workout the amount of water in motion. John @ Modern design aquascapes did a great little series on water in motion you should definitely check it out. Because your pond is so small I would eliminate it completely and go pondless that way you won’t see the water level drop. If possible create pools within the stream that can hold some of the water.

    Hi Kev - another great video! Quick question about waterfalls. I’m building the bog pond slightly raised above the main pond and want a waterfall to get a nice sound effect.
    I don’t want to raise the level of the bog pond much higher as I don’t want to create a volcano effect.
    What in your experience is the minimum waterfall height to get a reasonable sound? Would a 15cm drop from bog to pond be enough?
    Many thanks! Sheila

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  4 місяці тому

      It’s not really the drop. It’s the amount of flow that gives you the sound. The more flow the louder it will be.

      Hmmmm 🤔. I’ve had no problems on my other pond using it but then again this will only be its 3rd season. That’s just the 7mm scoria on the bare liner. The kids jump around so far no problem. In this pond I’ve overlaid all the liner with 270gsm geotextile. Well I’ve overlaid and underlaid. The liner is sandwiched between the 2. Anyway it’s too late for me it’s everywhere throughout this entire pond. Will be interesting to see what happens 🤞

    So you support gravel on pond bottoms. Apparently that is controversial.

      Very George. But I don’t mind either way, both have their place. If your ultimate goal is just fish keeping the gravel might become a pain. But if you want to create a natural looking ecosystem pond with all kinds of plants, animals and fish then gravel is really important. I personally like the ecosystem approach but by no means is it the only way to have a successful pond, just personal preference.👍
