- This is a project that's been lingering in the shop for quite a while. I decided it was finally time to finish it.

Probably one of favorite pen builds to date Bob. Thank you for not just showing the game plan and the win, but also the 1/2 time pep talk the struggles also. It is much more encouraging for the rookies to press on and not throw in the towel. I know I’m mixing my sport’s cliches but I’m sure that you understand my point. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you Levi.
You have a great weekend ass well.

I have checked Kenneth out on FB and messaged him to see if he ships to the UK.
Great video Bob.

Thank you Huw,
I talked with Kenneth at the show in September. He is getting out of the blank making business.

What a beautiful result from near disaster. I'm new to pen turning and you are my chief instructor. Thanks for your wonderful instructions over the last six months.
Thank you Dean,
I appreciate that.
Regards,
Bob
Welcome back, Bob! You have been missed. I'm glad to see that the blank repair worked out for you. I must say I was a bit apprehensive when I received the blank. I certainly didn't want to mess up on such a beautiful blank. Looks like you did a great job on the repair.
Thank you Kenneth,
None of this would have been possible without the work you did. You are truly a master of the laser. At some point I would like to talk with you about lasers if your open to it. I’m thirsty to learn and my mind is on fire with ideas.
Regards,
Bob
I forgot to thank you for the kind words. So ... Thank you. If you are coming to MOVPTG again this year, perhaps we can find some time to talk about lasers and technology in general.
I’m registered but I am working on a large project at work and most likely will not me able to make it. It’s killing me not to be there. I will make it next year for sure.
Beautiful work by both you and Kenneth Wines.
Thank you Mike.

Bob, I don't know which is better, seeing you back or seeing this blank repair at last. Really good to see you again. The blank repair is a work of art, thank you for posting it. I'm kicking ideas around as to how to make a blank along similar lines and appreciate seeing you turn this one. Much learned. Thanks........ Did I say it was great to see you back in the shop???
LOL, Thank you Gerald,
It will still be a bit before I’m back at it full bore again but it was really nice spending time in my shop.

Absolute beauty Bob. I love the Monarch hardware as well. Really compliments that blank well.
Thank you Scott,
The monarch is just a little bit classier then the Sierra. It’s a nice kit.

Bob
That looks absolutely fabulous. That has so much scope for other shapes. I love the apple twig pattern too. Well done Kenneth and Bob! 😉

Hi 👋 Bob, Jolly ☠️ Roger from over the pond here, Great 👍 to see you back, I’m sure there’s a lot of people who have missed you. I have to agree with you,the apple 🍎 pen must be the best Pen (with help from your friend )you have ever made, now you will have to find someone special to give it to 🤔. I think if it was mine,I would keep it .Best Regards Roger 🏴
Thank you Roger,
Still not sure what I’ll do with it at the moment. It will eventually find a home.
Regards,
Bob
Kenneth is an artist, friend and a fellow West Virginia Mountaineer!
We are lucky to have an artist of his caliber in the community. Now if we could just get him teaching this it would be amazing!
Regards,
Bob
Looks awesome, Bob! Kenneth's blanks look amazing and the inlay looks awesome too. Great turn and pen!
Thank you Robert,
Have a great time next weekend at the MOVPTG.
Regards,
Bob
RJBWoodTurner Thanks! Hopefully my bank account won’t be too mad at me after the weekend...
Good luck with that, I’ve been seeing teasers about all the cool blanks that will be there.
Outstanding pen, Bob. Is that one of my leather patches on your pen press???
Thank you Bob.
Yes that is your patch. 😀
Wow. That absolutely turned out to be one of the finest pens I think I’ve seen you turn. Glad to see you’re back in the shop, this summer has been very hot and high humidity in your area. I don’t blame you for staying inside where it’s air-conditioned. Take care.
Thank you Eddie,
Hopefully I’ll be back at it on a more regular basis this winter.
Regards,
Bob
love the pen Bob!
Thank you Ronald.

Bob
Amazing.....great way to save the blank...
Thank you Robert.

Bob
Beautiful pen...I turned one with an Applewood blank, too.
Thank you Carol,
The Apple Blanks are really beautiful.
Regards,
Bob
@rjbwoodturner very neat fix, that's awesome buddy
Thank you.
Regards,
Bob
Bob, hank you for the great video. I never do repairs to pen blanks when I have a blow out. I always turn that blank off the tube and start over. Well, after this video I will be rethinking my strategy.
Thank you Todd,
Those blow outs are great opportunities to try stuff and learn. Especially since you’re going to get rid of them anyway.
Regards,
Bob
WOW is all i can say ... your laser guy is Amazing ... he needs to put some videos up on that :) - you are awesome with your CA finishes looks like glass buddy.
This was truly a full collaboration of getting the pen completed ... well done sir well done
Thank you John,
Kenneth does some amazing work. He is a master of the laser.
Regards,
Bob
i looked him up ... i'm not on facebook however .. he lives maybe 30 minutes from where i live lol
He knows his stuff. You should contact him and learn.
As always Bob, great video. I am glad to see you get some shop time. I'm glad to see the Apple blank return, I had just been wondering what happened to it.
Thank you Bret,
It was a long time between but man was it worth it.
Regards,
Bob
Great fix to that blowout! i noticed that you don’t use a piece of scrap cardboard when you assemble the pen anymore. Is that a piece of thin rubber on the end of the piston of the pen press?
Yes,
A buddy sent me a rubber pad with adhesive on the back, it works great!
Regards,
Bob
RJBWoodTurner Bob what pen press were you using? I am looking to upgrade mine as the one I have takes forever to adjust it to fit what you are trying to press as you have to screw it in and out for each different size. Any recommendations?
Ron
Wow beautiful pen . Great idea Bob . You know what this means your going to have to get a laser now lol . Take care .
I’d love to get one. That would be awesome!!!
@@RJBWoodTurner
That would make some interesting vids .
Oh great to see you back, that’s a awesome pen. Man it would be awesome if someone can do a tribute pen for 911 just saying. Take care Bob
Thank you Donald,
That would be a cool idea and pen.
Regards,
Bob
Beautiful blank and pen. Personally I think I would have put the clip inline with the apple so it is the first thing people see when they see that pen. Perhaps the clip would have hidden the apple. Hard to tell on the screen. IMO Nicely done by all involved.
Thank you Dwight,
I actually thought about aligning the clip with the Apple and it would have fit. I was testing locations before filming and pressing and it looked a bit to busy. Cool thing is, with this kit, I believe the clip can be moved by unscrewing the cap.
Regards,
Bob
Looks like a label blank.
Thank you Cliff.
Regards,
Bob
Great pen Bob! What an excellent fix. By the way where do you get the Monarch pen from?
I get that kit from www.classicnib.com. If you order from them, tell Niels and Debbie I said hello, there personal friends of mine and run a great business.
Regards,
Bob
