    Psylium fiber is used in most products that are taken to keep your intestinal system functioning well, and it comes from plantago ovata seed husks. But both narrow and broad leaved plantain seed husks work about as well, but you don't really have to separate the seed from the husk. The seeds are mucilagenous and can be soothing for stomach and intestinal issues. My Mom taught me when I was a kid about using the leaves for various things like poultices, sore throats etc but now that I'm older the seeds come in handy on occasion
