    I have had a Subaru forester 1998 (automatic)
    from new (approx. 70,000 miles on the clock), that has been great for all the years with very little to
    do other than annual services. However, recently I have had a lot of vibration
    & shuddering on the wheels when making tight turns (left or right). It is
    difficult to identify which wheels the noise or shudder comes from and I don't
    feel much through the steering wheel. I have had front & rear differentials
    replaced and it has reduced the frequency but not eliminated the problem. We
    hope it isn't the automatic gear box but has anyone got any ideas what to do
    next. I have checked the wheel bearings; CV boots & axles; springs
    and found nothing. We hope it isn't the central
    differential/automatic gear box but has anyone got any ideas what to do next. We
    don't want to loose our car..... she is part of the family.....we have had her
    more than 21 years and has been a faithful work-horse.

    • @simplenipple

      Check the control arm bushings, those frequently wear down and cause vibrations in the wheel.

    FINALLY ONE CAN SEE SOME PRECISE WORK!! (except few little things about cleanliness of the work to ensure maximal possible quality)
    Just to be sure - this is the engine block replacement/strengthening, so it can be able to get to higher power? Above 500? Where/what is the limit? (I think engine, not fuel).
    Please, do make more similiar vids - especially on our WRX STIs for 'noobs' like me! Thanks!
    PS.: I may be geting 2010 WRX STI Sport hatch, it is on 400PS(stage 2 in the description), SHOULD it be ok and safe, weekend driving?(not daily to work). Many thanks!

    any reason why you didnt put the studs in hand tight like arp say?

    • @RumbleGarage
      @RumbleGarage 6 років тому +4

      Diy Car tips because they walk out! They are to be hand tightened! He did it perfectly! Only thing I saw entire video he does that I do not is torque the studs only once! That's a no no in my book. But to each their own. As long as he doesn't have issues. I've had many customers come into shop with ARP studs that walk out of short block. Blow head gaskets Everytime! I have pictures as well if you need proof. I save every pic for every build! I've never had a Subaru come back! 💪 Subaru Only!!

    • @Birdhouseboi810

      They walk out if you oil them. If they go in hard clean the threads out and try again.

    • @JonDoeSecure
      @JonDoeSecure 6 років тому +3

      Walk out?! WTF are you even talking about?! Studs torqued and stretched do not walk out. ARP has them hand tight for a reason. There is a chamfer at the bottom and when you torque them you force the stud to be slightly off center. You do not lube and torque for a reason.

    • @epistte
      @epistte 6 років тому

      Absolutely agree. Engineering protocl says that studs are always to be installed hand tight. I'd scream if I caught anyone installing a stud with a wrench. At most you use a bit of anti-seize on the threads if they are installed in an aluminum block.

      It doesnt matter, I bet it leaked like a bitch. I have never seen anyone put sealant on so badly, except a noob. Dabbing it on with his fingers, no consistency. one area hardly had ANY sealant on it. He pulled the valve stem seals before dropping in the valves. I never saw him replace them. I noticed that too. Turned past the click on every bolt. If this man can feel the tensile strain for every bolt he tightens. Then he is probably severely under paid. Or possibly he knows his torque wrench is inaccurate? And he’s compensating? Why not compensate the wrench setting and use the tool properly? Or better yet calibrate it. I wouldn’t want him assembling my engine. I understand what you meant when you say “feeling”. People develop amazing motor memory and can do incredible things with it. But I would rather pay someone to make sound logical informed decisions directly from data. Such as a properly calibrated torque wrench reading, while following the manufactures recommended torque specs for THAT bolt.

    • @BP-fx3qc
      @BP-fx3qc 5 років тому

      After years of doing this you'll develop a muscle memory of what each nut and bolt can take. You'll only use the torque wrench as a reference tool.

    Gibt es irgendwo Explosionszeichnungen für den EJ205 bzw. EJ207? Sie müssen nicht Deutsch sein, aber Englisch wäre schon super
    Und passend zum Motor: Ich spare seit 'ner Weile auf einen Subaru WRX(vom Classic bis Blob-Eye würde ich mir einen holen), jedoch sind die ersten die ich mir leisten könnte schon 200tkm+ gefahren. Ist dies schlecht? Was könnte auf mich zukommen(vom Turbo mal abgesehen) und eigentlich sind doch die Motoren recht langlebig heißt es. Auf was sollte man da achten?(Dichtungen, Lecks, Kolbenkipper). Und wie viel Geld sollte man für einen Subaru in die Hand nehmen? Ich selber habe mir jetzt die Preisspanne von 3500-5000€ gesetzt und würde dann doch gerne mal von Leuten die an Subarus konstant arbeiten hören, ob das realistisch ist. Würde mich über eine Antwort freuen :)
    P.S:: Wichtig! Es wird auf eine Linkslenker-Limousine gespart!
