    Hope you guys enjoy this new series! Interestingly enough it was me, Evo Ben, who made this one, even though it seems absolutely like something Subaru Ben would make. Let us know what performance platform we should cover in the next episode of The Aftermarket, and if you need to do any shopping, use code: AFTERMARKET at

  • @squeezinse1
    @squeezinse1 5 років тому +18

    Bought my 06 STI brand new in Feb 06. Never modified at all, just flipped 103000 miles. I've done a slew of maintenance and items that have gone bad with age but drivetrain and such have never skipped a beat. Just when I think about modifying it I realize how much I enjoy the reliability and fun that the car gives me in it's stock form, and how much money I've saved by not going the modified route. I love seeing all the modified ones though when done correctly.

I build Subaru engines and transmissions for a living, I can always tell when someone is full of fluff. Also, I would point out that Advance is my go-to parts store, as well as many other Subaru techs that I know, primarily because of the availability of common and not-so-common Subaru parts and the general shopping experience. Good shit guys, let's see some more content like this!

      What other Japanese turbo car still lives up to the hype of the 90s? The Mk V Supra is great, but Toyota is so departed from providing a driver's car that BMW had to make it for them. GTR came back in amazing form, but quickly spiraled off in price into 6 figure unobtainium. Beyond those basic flaws, we have the lack of manual transmission option, vague electronic assist steering, and all the other electronic assists that take away feeling and precise control.

It restores engine compression and reduces friction by coating all metal to metal friction surfaces with a ceramic compound while you drive the car normally. I've fixed automatic gearboxes and noisy power steering pumps with it... I've treated 5 of my petrol and diesel powered Mercedeses, one Jeep (Commander CRD) and my 06 Forester XT with it.

    With the old ej20t.. I remember a big problem was the in-line fuel rails. The last cylinder in the line would always get minutely less fuel than the rest but over time it made a difference to the heat etc in that cylinder.
    Swapping to parallel fuel rails was a good preventative measure to ring land failure in that last cylinder.
    I’m not sure if newer ej255 / 57s still run single fuel rails but it’s worth changing to parallel setup.

    I've had turbo subies for 14 or so years now. Modded and tuned. And none have gone bang. Current MY11 wrx has been tuned for 7 years and still going strong, 8 years of ownership. Find it hard to leave subies as I've had them for years.

Because you can make TWICE the hp for the money. It's that simple. I have both. I love my Subie, but I f@$%ing hate it too. The LS will always be more solid and I havent done hardly anything to it.

      What's not attainable about a older subaru? A good decent 06-10 wrx sti can be had for 5-15k. While a 25 year old Nissan pos will cost cost over 5k. Then you still might have to throw in another 5-10k fixing it up. So it will run some what dependable.
