Normally the Malcontents never disappoints, but this episode was especially good. Love the banter and the ebbs and flows of good conversation. Dave was a fantastic guest and Steve's wifes drinks made me envious and thirsty. Great show guys 🤙
Dr. Fryette's dissertation beginning at 1 hour 51 minutes is some of the greatest amp/trans/tube/bias explanation you'll ever hear. Fantastic to watch Dr. Friedman examine and concur!
Hot tip: put 2 splashes/drops of bitters in your martini. Adds complexity and a bit of "flintiness" to the taste in the best way. Also, Sapphire makes a great martini, although Beefeater or standard Bombay may have the less complex flavor you're looking for. Never, ever, use Tanqueray imo. Also, martini's are gin, not vodka.
Next show…maybe this setup (Dave, Steve, Joe) and add Marc to handle questions, wrangle in the balance between Alcohol and Tone. Great show guys, definitely could have gone longer 🤘🏻
ok where did u read about Zakk and the strat? I swear I read that he was going to use a Strat plus with the new red lace sensors but I can never track down the article and my friends just think I'm nuts fir ever saying that
Zakk's first interview with Guitar World. They introduced him as "Zakk Adams". He said Ozzy didn't want him using a Les Paul, and was going to make him use a Strat. It never happened though.
This might be Freudinan, liberals change the meaning, conservatives cling to the meaning. Why do so many words, have so many meanings? Gin and Vermooth is a Martini, and do not forget the F$#%&% olive! If it is an onion, it is a "Gibson".
C’mon man. 4 hours and no chapter markers. Doesn’t have to be a ton of them but at least something. don’t put something specific in the tile that might grab someone’s interest like you did and then force them to wade through hours of this stuff. I like these guys but don’t want to hear them ramble about half the stuff they do talk about.
@@TheCyberMantis well, that doesn't make them snake oil, that's just maintenance. I've never had to replace tubes in 20 years, but NOS hold up much better.
OMG - I had to do this in 3 doses, but it was amazing! I want the Stevie Freyette, David Friedman and John Suhr as a Christmas Special!
The stories about Reinhold 🤣
This might be my new favorite show.
"But I don't get to say Self Attenuation Mode" honest and accurate! I sence a little envy from Dave there 😄

3.5 hrs in drunk listening to VanHalen ... my kinda party

There is plenty of room in every amp for some balance and blueprint
Great show. Love just hanging out. Real dudes.
All the best from Canada 🇨🇦!
I just realized this show if 4 hours long... hooray!
That took a while to finish. Loved it!
Awesome show I loved every minute of it felt like I was hanging out with a bunch of friends
this is beautiful
Joe saved this show and brought it back to guitar talk! Thanks Joe
Joe seems like a good egg.
Not one mention of the 5150. 🤣
Was skimming thru looking for the 5150 reference.. didn't find it lol..
@@WOTUFAKA It was a joke about clickbait. They mentioned that.

Glad I read this comment. I couldn’t give two shits what these guys prefer to drink…. I simply don’t have that much free time.
Great times! Keep these shows coming!
I need the recipe for that Grilled Cheese! 😂 Great show!
I watched the whole thing!
I can't believe that the secret to unlocking the 5150 came from ancient technology from Aisa. Amazing!!
Good stuff. 3 guy’s drinking and talking gear
I was glad to hear that title turned out to be clickbait. Thought you'd lost your minds.
I agree with Dave on JJ, they usually good in v1 or v2

Thank you for the subtitles.
I'm starting to feel drunk just watching..

Longer...LOL!
… it wouldn’t work. Mark’s bedtime is at 2pm EST.🤣
@@ThemFuzzyMonsters Just need to do it on the weekend maybe, no excuses! Perhaps Marc could benefit from an Espresso Martini or two? Lol
@@ThemFuzzyMonsters hey now! 😂😂 I’m at least good until 5.
Wasn't the first Mark series "boutique" combos made by Mesa Boogie offered with EV's?
@4:56 A "dry" Gin Martini is simply a shot of Gin.
Curious what value cap Dave used in his Tele for the cocked wah tone?
Dry Martini is with DRY vermouth (no sweetness).
If i had only cared when i was 17... i gave an original telli away because it wasnt metal like a jackson i wanted for almost nothing in 93

With all the video content Dave has been doing how does he get work done? Magic elves…..
6550's are shitty power tubes. Too ridged.
I have heard KT88 version sounds a little better quality.

Tube amps = snake oil
I cook all my meat with snake oil 😉
@@realtruenorth Well then, you are used to it.
@@TheCyberMantis sure am. I'll keep my snake oil. You can keep your purity high horse oil.
