I found fr john breck Beyond These Horizons, Quantum Theory and Christian Faith A good read too on this subject.
It was the "four horsemen of new atheism" that made me sway away from God as a young adult. Glad to say 12 years later God is back in my life, and I'm happier than ever.
I couldn’t do a dissertation at Notre Dame in 2012 because they had no professors in philosophy. It was to be on a really consequential subject that now science like Dawkins and others are catching up with on “The relational cause that is above and through all other causes.” 12 years later!

Is there a list of all the sources Dr. Bergsma cites? Particularly the book he mentions by Fr. Spitzer. I’m searching for ways to help my 33 year old son, who has sadly left the church and embraced liberalism. He holds these beliefs that are so alien to me and my husband. Thank the LORD and St. Monica, he spends time with us and all our family every Sunday, AFTER we get home from Mass. He is a wonderful husband and father. He has genius level intellect, like my Dad. I wish my Dad were here to gently debate the existence of God with him, but for now I pray and look for videos/books that might help him find the Truth if he ever agrees to watch/read them.
Thursday, from what i heared Matt say, your name seems to be Josiah. Please use your given name more, because it is a beautiful name you received from God that seems to mean "God supports". What a continual beautiful testimony would that be to use your name also here.
I recently had a discussion with an atheist about free will. His premise was that, according to the Bible, God knows our entire lives before we were born ,and therefore we do not actually have free will. My rebuttal was that God has infinite wisdom and he knows the infinite possibilities of what could or could not happen based on our actions. For example, if I came to a fork in the road, God already knows where the road may lead me in each direction. However God may not necessarily know which road I will take because he has given me free will. Could the multiverse be what could have happened if our choices were made differently? It might not be what is present, however what could have been may still exist within God's wisdom. He may even show us when we die what could have been if we had chosen to do his will or what did happen because we did do his will.
Interesting stuff. Just because God knows what choices I will make, does not mean it is not 100% my choice! Free will is an awesome gift. Sadly, so many of us go down wrong paths. May God guide us all.
Hope this is a helpful Bible Verse- John 6:53-59 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.” These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
I am a professor of Religious Studies. I would say that I am panentheistic. This places me in the position of believing that there is a system of evolution designed by whatever it is that contains the universe. That container of the universe is what I call God. I pray that Dr. Bergsma's son is getting better.🙏
For me I always think about the human body. First, the creation of a cell is just so complex and amazing that there has to be something else. But then the development of the organs, just crazy how they work. And then putting them all together so that they function as a single unit--mind blowing. Don't even bring up consciousness...what the heck even is that?
Imagine the futility of going to your grave attempting to disprove the existence of God, believing up to the very last moment that you were making genuine progress.
Uh huh. But just imagine seeing the dark figures moving towards you, to claim their spoil as soon as you die. Now that's a horrific thought! Lord have mercy on us all!!

He went to Ken Ham’s ark. fantastic interview, but his comments are the most telling. Very smart and thoughtful.
I also have Darwin’s Doubt.
Engineer here, doing/discussing some of these topics in Physics class.
This is one of my top videos to watch. So fascinating and concise across a range of scientific topics that kept plaguing me on a proper answer to a lot of family and friends that throw science at me with God in question. I found fr john breck
Beyond These Horizons, Quantum Theory and Christian Faith
A good read too on this subject.
James Tour and Stephen Meyer 👍🏻 Plus Dr John Bergsma!
I've listed twice now, and need more. Thank you
Yes!!! Me too!
It was the "four horsemen of new atheism" that made me sway away from God as a young adult.
Glad to say 12 years later God is back in my life, and I'm happier than ever.
Thanks so much! This was great.
"Common sense interpretation of the facts"..... pray for those who won't even hear the facts.
Please tell me it's fifteen hours long.

my favorite guest!
Brilliant conversation. Thanks.
Absolutely amazing interview!!!
I couldn’t do a dissertation at Notre Dame in 2012 because they had no professors in philosophy. It was to be on a really consequential subject that now science like Dawkins and others are catching up with on “The relational cause that is above and through all other causes.” 12 years later!
We exist because of God! Simple and easy enough!
That quote from Robert Jastrow is phenomenal.
You should have on Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, he's a Dominican and biologist who would articulate the theistic evolution position really well. He spoke at Hillsdale when I was a student there
This was absolutely incredible.
To bring forth clarity, coherence, adequacy, evidence, and witnesses!
Only 1 hour in, best show so far. 👍
But God’s timing is not ours.
Thanks Dr. B for your knowledge and understanding evolutionary theory
Woot!! An amazing guest!
1:14:28 to 1:18:25
Matt, if you haven't you should read Brant Pitre's Jesus the Bridegroom: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told.
Thank you Dr. Bergsma, for your knowledge of Scripture to help Matt along.
If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it, did it make a sound?? This conversation has me contemplating this question! Great episode.
Dr. Bergsma for president!
Proud to see a fellow TMIY brother!
This Episode was great
Thursday, from what i heared Matt say, your name seems to be Josiah. Please use your given name more, because it is a beautiful name you received from God that seems to mean "God supports". What a continual beautiful testimony would that be to use your name also here.
As of July 7th, he will be going by Josiah. He announced on his Discord that he no longer wishes to be called Thrsdy.
@andrewosterloh2244 thanx for letting this know. Cause i don't have discord.
So sad to hear Thursday was fired. New guy seems cool though.
this is one of the best episodes
He was my professor for my graduate work. He is a wealth of knowledge and a wonderful man!
Remember, I am who I say I am if I wasn’t and I was lying when my God would know I’d be dying❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hope this is a helpful Bible Verse-
John 6:53-59 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
Amazing discussion ❤
Dr Bergsma has such a great memory!

Great show, thank you.
"The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible, "
Albert Einstein
How many books will he bring? Closest without going over wins! I say 22.
This is a fascinating discussion. Thanks.
