very cool channel! I was a guitar amp designer in Upstate NY for many years after my formal education. After suffering a brain aneurysm my family dissolved my company to protect me from tax trouble. Amp design was my absolute passion and like all Eddie fans I called Barbara Page at EVH management asking if I could send Mr. Van Halen one of my amps her stock reply was " I'm sorry he works with Peavey and he has an exclusive deal with them" Your Channel with Mr. Friedman is outstanding lots of great guests. Everything these guys say about the low quality of tubes being manufactured is right on, we need an American manufacture. That Single malt Scotch is amazing but to highbrow for my pocket
please have George on again I would really love to hear more about the superplex and what he's doing. his knowledge of amp modification and replication is phenomenal and I would love to hear more from him especially about the superplex.
Cannot say enough how good it is to watch these again, even years later! Would love to see what George is up to after all this time and the banter between he and Dave is priceless! 🤘
The look of the old late 60's Marshall heads are hands down the sexiest looking amps ever to me! I dont think anyone will ever top the look or sound of them. I can just stare at them with a smile.
I broke up with my long time girlfriend. I knew nothing about building amps, but I knew I loved Eddie's tone. I stumbled upon the metroamp forum by chance, ordered my parts from him. Build that thing with a bottle of Jack and help from the guys on that forum. The amp worked right off the bat. Thank you so much!
Dave and Mark, your show is beyond amazing! Having George Metropoulos as a guest is just awesome. More than three hours of nirvana and condensed knowledge for this amp nut and tweaker. Thank you so much and greetings from Costa Rica!
#1 talk about old Marshalls and two of the best guru's on that subject!!! Thanks a million!!! Jam packed with info...I really liked the clarification about post phase inverter master mods!!! Dave has sold me on getting a Fryette Power Station 2!!! Cheers to all rock guitarists'...Practice, Play, Practice, repeat!!! Be great!!!!
I drank more than a half a bottle of Johnny walker black when I was 15 at some chicks house. I still don’t know if I’ve ever been as intoxicated even after years of heroin addiction. Lmao. Cleans for year now but I can’t still taste that whisky sometimes if I think about it long enough. PS: Joe Bonamassa did an awesome video on Rick Beato’s channel if you haven’t seen. It was awesome.
Oh my god..two of my favorite passions.. scotch and great guitar tone. I'm so glad I found this! George it's been awhile... bought a kit from you ages ago great show guys cheers and by the way. I'm more of a Islay Scotch drinker. Dave +1 to Laphroaig quarter cask.. one of my favorites. Cheers guys!
Very hard to pick but I think this is my favorite episode. I love how after a couple of hours in you can tell you guys got a Good buzz going on. Awesome show!
My new favorite podcast. I've had 2 Friedman modded JMPs and I still kick myself for selling them. This purple one was magic! I've even tried to buy one of them back and the dude wouldn't budge. I modded my JCM 800 clone to get pretty close but not quite the same.
Greetings, from Inverness, Scotland. The Balvenie is a fine dram and a particular favourite. My all time favourite is Teananich from Tain Ross Shire. Give it a go. Angels breath. Beautiful! Let me know how you get on. How do you fancy doing a musical tour of Scotlands finest distileries. Great reverb in them by the way.
Olle Linderholm hi and yes! All of our episodes are on the iTunes podcast app and can be found online. If you need a link let us know and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the reply! ep. 12 is the first in order avail on iTunes, no earlier ones unfort, (from what I can see?..maybe they expired or summat? or I´m confused ) love to have them all up for listening..Again, thanks for a really good show, keep it up!
Holy crap! I went to school with George. That crazy bastard in the back of the room in drafting class made it hard to draw a straight line because we were laughing too hard. I also remember opening for his band way back in the 90s. Fun times.
1:43:45 AC/DC use 230-240V Amps. You can see the whole rig George is talking about in a Rig Rundown video, including the $40k Japanese current regulator he's talking about, and you can see the voltage settings too. They run Angus amps at 236.1V -- ua-cam.com/video/j5C7GKGxICg/v-deo.htmlm31s
Another cool show... one tip: your vids are surrounded by a red boarder, which makes it seem like I've already watched them because UA-cam does a red underline on viewed videos. Love the shows and all the information you guys provide.
I know that this video is old but i had to get in on the Scotch conversation 😂. I always have liked the Glen Livet, and Glenfiddich as well. I must say that for myself, i have always been chasing the sharp spicy afternotes of Abelour .. my brother and I shared a 5th of the Abelour on Christmas day 2001 i believe... im not sure if it is a high end Scotch, but man!!! It was just spunkier and more satisfying than the others i mentioned.. a bit spicy, a bit sharp, i believe it was 45% Alc by vol, so a 90 proof single malt, made fron some beautiful Scottish water. Great memories!
Just starting episode 2...wondering what the red & black strats are behind Dave on the wall ? This stuff is awesome guys, thanks for sharing & keep 'em coming...
Funny how Richard Paterson, a world class whiskey taster (I believe), said that you know to instantly walk out of the bar if the bartender puts ice in your whiskey. Apparently it's not a thing to do, it should be lukewarm water. Don't know why, perhaps a temperature and flavor thing. Paterson has a very funny "how to taste whiskey" video on UA-cam, worth watching just for the laughs. Well, I guess you can also learn some details about how whiskey is made from that as well. Although if it stings to see a perfectly good glass of whiskey thrown on the floor, maybe not your thing.
I drank scotch everyday for a week at the Dunvegan Pub after playing rounds at the Old Course in St.Andrews Scotland. They’d give you the scotch in one glass with a separate glass of water. Imo, that’s how you drink scotch. Never had a hangover the next day.
Man, Dave was fucked up! 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂.....Amazing Show. Thanks Dave, Mark, and George. My all-time favorite Amp Makers are Friedman and Metropoulos. I love some other Amp Makers, but my favorite style of amps are Modded Plexi Amps, and Dave and George build them the best. I own a Friedman BE-50 Deluxe, a Friedman Twin Sister, and a Metropoulos DVL-1. All 3 are amazing amps, with amazing tonal options. God Bless.
lol- I get THAT!!! what is a who chord though? Someone says "a Hendrix chord" i get it ...Dom #9.... even major chord with thumb playing bass.. what are the "who" {Pete Townshend} chord ??@@tone-talk
@@sempercompellis A wide open chord that rings. Those Pete Townsend chords where he lets all the strings ring out. Not a specific type of chord...just the style
Glen mor angie ha ha ha I think thats the first time I've heard an American try to say it.. ice cubes in Whisky bad bad that actually destroys the flavour as it draws the oils to it and away from the drink, it should only ever have water in it.
...bass fishing? In Florida? call me:) This is interesting, hobby stuff and all... but none of you guys could pass a blind ear test between tube amps and digital:) It's fun, but it is bullshit too. However it is this old tech that helped us design the best digital amps. Besides it is the preamp tubes that have the greatest affect, not all of course, but they change everything.
Thanks for watching! Please hit subscribe and thumbs up!

What another great show I just watched. I love the long shows. They’re awesome. Thanks again. Appreciate all you guys do.
This was almost the greatest 3 hours of my life...my wife is number 1....but this was special. Thank you.
George is such a great and passionate guy...he and Dave really know amps-true tone masters.

I wish I was watching the live so I could ask questions,
Amazing Show-thanks for the answering mine and others questions-looking forward to future posts!
George is the man. I feel lucky to have a couple of the kits he put out and they are good for a lifetime. Amazing Plexi replicas.
One of the best shows ive seen for amp geeks like me! Thanks!

George is the best, you gotta get him back on the show.
This was awesome! Thanks to all involved. This is my go-to listen while doing re-fret/setups as it makes the job go by like a flash!!
Another great show!!!what a great bunch of guys to drink some scotch with and geek out on on amps .
They are so right about amps being different for each player. I have never plugged into a Marshall I didn't like though.
Thanks for another great show guys! Always nice to get insight from some of best in the business in the crazy world of tube amps. Cheers!

Excellent show...what an awesome guest...and must say, I'm a bourbon gal...Blanton's all the way!!! 💗💗💗
Great podcast! Hard to believe there are any down votes. Thanks much for the annotations/time-stamps.
Tube talk, modeling amps, and attenuator talk! This is very cool!
Man these shows are youtube no1#! Keep it up! Dave seems like a super nice guy! Definetely reflects on the products. Keep rocking!
That’s the exact room I’d expect George to be in 😂😂
Another great tone-talk ....👍🏼
I hope you guys have George back on. I would enjoy hearing about his new amps.
Thanks for theinformative video, I have a Marshall DSL 20 . and a Marshall mg FX 100 2/12 just starting out they both sound pretty great to me😊

Thanks for the cool show 👍😊
Hi tone talk :) thanks!!! I love you 🙋 Grace God 💋
Homey is wearing a Marshall Amp shirt in front of the 2 x Marshall Copy Cats Metropoulos and Friedman very funny.
88Gibson1 hey we all love Marshall!
I once met Jim Marshall, shook his hand wearing a Metropoulos t-shirt. He smiled. Such a lovely guy.
Talking about 1984 every time I listen to Girl Gone Bad I feel the adrenalyn build up, what a masterpiece

Hey Dave my Super Lead has a SIR sticker on the back.. But then again you modded it.
I've drunk a lot of that Balvenie double. Enough to deprive Scotland. Speyside and highland were my favorites.
@1:19:00 George sold me as an amplifier builder.
my next addition
Great show!
George grew his hair! Cool!!!
Can you guys get Scott Splawn on here!?
Awesomeness x2
Sounds like NAMM isn't very welcoming to newcomers. They really should have shown someone like George a little respect. He deserves it.
Man George can put away the Scotch. Impressive.
Use the Metal Zone in the FX loop
'This amp is blocked by scotch.' My kind of builder.
FInally watching this one, can"t believe I missed it! Update: Gainiax still doesn't have a website or tube, yikes.
Idk what these dudes are talking about/where they got their katana, but I have the MK II Artist & with the foot switch, I paid over 6 hundo
i love Dave F and i am genuinely not trying to be a wise ass but what is a "who" chord?

George is the best thing that ever happened to Marshall. The spirit and soul of Marshall that is.
Dave's favorite VH LP's are mine as well! II, Fair Warning, 84'. Ed didn't like the 1st one either.
Jitlada Thai is legitimately the greatest food ever.
12 people don't like Friedman? or marshalls?
i mean,ok,get a life...

Absolutely ridiculous.
