In the EU wookies are consistently shown to not be beasts but to in fact be an incredibly intelligent species. I resent the "dumb brute" archetype that Antoine ascribes to them, largely due to my own position as a person who can bench 160lbs. and maintain a 4.3 GPA. The major wookies in the EU are always very intelligent. Heck, in the Jedi Academy series Lowbacca, Chewie's force sensitive nephew, is more help in technical maters than Jacen Solo is often times. We ascribe them a lack of intelligence because they can rip people's arms out, but that says nothing about intelligence. Frankly, if you were enslaved by a brutal regime, hunted for your pelts, and treated as savages, wouldn't you want to rip someone's arms out?

Devin Gendron Now this isnt to call you dumb, i commend you for being able to work out and, maintain your brain many people cant do that - which is where people, even science, says more studying has a direction coloration with muscle mass, people who tend to be strong are not as strong as nutrients are offered for difderent things thus people ascribe the brutes are stupid. Again youre not stupid though, people who are smart arent often strong.

Essentially it's a stereotype from standard character building for many. It's a mental pitfall that a lot of people end up falling in, the assumption that because somebody is big or tall or strong, they must not be very bright or, you can be one thing but not another.
I kinda like the idea of there being intelligent wookies, for sure. I just don't like the stereotype. Though we only saw the wookies early on in Rebels and their most prominent appearance in canon is Episode 3

I do think Wookies would have a somewhat simple outlook on life. That they focus on things that are useful but don't overdo it. Not really focused on all kinds of abstract art forms or what is "good" and "proper". Just on what is functional and practical.

It's interesting coming back to this episode years later, because pretty much all of the tonal issues in Rebels are pretty much addressed in Andor. I know you guys don't cover Star Wars much anymore, but it would be cool to see Andor covered on this channel.

IMO the last 30 minutes of this Forcecast is the best of all of them.
Just seeing you guys go at it is wonderful
Idea for possible section: Live Versus
Take 2 controversial characters for all of you and discuss live who would win. It would be great to see you guys go at this in a free form manner

I've never bought that the Jedi were completely eradicated. Yoda has this immense light side signature so he goes to the Dark Side Nexus of Dagobah and he's fine.
A regular Jedi could find a relatively uninhabited planet and do the same. Or even survive on a regular one.
Is Ahsoka the new canons way of introducing new saber colors? First Yellow, now white.
Vader's mask being slightly elongated makes it seem *To me* like he's always on the edge on snapping.
    Antoine's falling routine 10/10
When Vader jumps his landing cracks the ground.
Series ends on Alderaan, everyone gets Red Wedding'd
    "Skyguy?!"
    "Snips."
    *Laughing cringe*
I imagine Ashoka will be like the heavy hitter of the series, called in when they have a strong opponent. The crew of the Ghost isn't filled with super powerful combatants, so she'll be like the badass that drops in for special ops every now and then.
Can we just have Sith-Pureblood's hybridize with other species? It would contribute to some cool designs as long as they keep the red in check*
Can somebody have someone win a Versus video not because of their abilities but because of their use of them against their opponent? If you plan on doing so, don't tell me, that'll pretty clearly spoil things.
"The force gives me all I need. *Blaech!* I just quoted Marek!"
    This amuses me greatly.

When it comes down to it, Rebels did it's best in showing off how the galaxy was like during the “Dark Times". I do feel like the show should have given the viewers more examples of how people were struggling during this oppressive period in time. Something I want to ask for you guys is what kind of major near death wounds justify a revival of such character who received these wounds. Examples include: Darth Vader's burns and loss of limbs as well as Darth Maul being sliced in half. It's funny how in both cases Obi-Wan inflicted such wounds on those two opponents. Do you think we'll see the emperor, Darth Maul, inquisitors,and/or dark apprentices in the second season of Rebels???

Really great podcast guys! Much like the Rebels themselves you guys interact off each other really well. In regards to the series Rebels itself I'm in kind of the same vein as Reti4 in that there are certain moments I really like but it was only in the last couple episodes that I really began to enjoy myself. There are certainly episodes that stand out but overall at least in my opinion there were quite a few forgettable episodes. I really loved that Ahsoka is one of the main leaders of the rebels. There's kind of a poetic touch that Vaders old apprentice who embodies the optimism and wisdom that he has lost is the one who sows the seeds of the downfall of the Empire. I think it's a really great idea and I can't wait till her face off with Vader. In comparison to the first season of TCW, I think Rebels was like a line graph with a steadily increasing slope while TCW was a scatter plot of great episodes and ones that are better left unmentioned. I can't wait for season 2 though it really seems like they're ramping it up. I do have a question for you Council members. Based on my(quite limited) knowledge of the EU it seems that most Sith are interested in one thing: Power, however in the films and in TCW( Where my knowledge base began) it seems that most times the dark side starts through good emotions but the dark side corrupts these good intentions and makes them into the opposite of what they originally intended. For example, Vader's decent into the dark side is caused(mainly) by his visions of the death of Padme and his possessiveness of her makes him take any action to save her which leads him to the dark side but he ends up killing her in the end. So I guess my question is which one causes the dark side? Is is the thirst for power? Do the good intentions lead to the thirst for power? My guess would be it varies from person to person but I'd like the opinions of people more knowledgeable then me. Oh and I've also been wondering about this team battle: Qui Gon Jinn and Obi Wan Kenobi(Padawan) vs Anakin and Ahsoka. Sorry for the long comment!

I like Rebels on the whole, but Reti4 makes a good point. Bullying a fruit vendor doesn't convey enough of the required tone. I don't get the sense that the heroes or the average people are living in fear. It's as if the show is content to say the Empire is evil because it's the evil Empire.

    • @fairytalejediftj7041

Agree with Reti4 a hundred percent about Vader's walk. It looked cartoonish in the season finale, totally ruined the mood.

    • @fairytalejediftj7041
      @fairytalejediftj7041 9 років тому +1

Last comment: In your discussion of Kenobi v. Dooku, the Kenobi defenders ignored a huge, critical element - feinting. You don't "break through" a Soresu defense; you beat it by shifting it out of position through feints, and this is why Makashi beats Soresu in a pure stylistic matchup. Makashi doesn't try to overcome Soresu's strength, it turns the Soresu user's desire to defend every angle into a weakness.

    • @Reti4
      @Reti4  9 років тому

fairytalejedi FTJ I see where you're coming from in principle, but if feinting was all it took to bring Soresu masters down they wouldn't be given the exaggerated accolade of "invincible".

    • @fairytalejediftj7041
      @fairytalejediftj7041 9 років тому +1

Reti4 It's really a question of how long a Soresu user can keep it up without single lapse in concentration or endurance, because his offence isn't going to threaten his Makashi opponent; Kenobi won't deprive Dooku of his weapon like he did Grievous. :) In a one-on-one match in a neutral dueling arena, Kenobi could only drag out the inevitable against Dooku, IMO. But I agree with Antoine's Dooku/Windu verdict, so there you go. :)

Does it strike anyone else as odd that they decided to set their family-friendly show during one of (if not the) worst moments for the Galaxy since the Infinite Empire (obviously the Rakata liked it. I mean for everyone else)? They could have gone with 500BBY, when nothing truly awful was unfolding, or really any other period. This the Galactic Dark Age, where the Sith rule unopposed, tyranny is the rule of the day, all non-humans are persecuted, terror is official government policy, etc. Consider the sales pitch:
"Hey kids, remember all you favorite characters from The Clone Wars?"
    "Yeah!"
"Well they're all dead! Well, a few are hiding, alone and miserable, and one turned evil, murdering dozens of children just like you. But mostly they're all dead. Also, the bad guys won. Yay!"
Setting a family show during the Dark Times (the name should have been a clue) is a stupid choice to begin with.

    • @jonas1015119
      @jonas1015119 9 років тому +1

Venneroth But for kids and fans of the trilogy 500BBY didnt exist, the Rakata do not either. And since the movies will be after Ep VI and the time before Ep I was apparently boring politics there is only the time frame between Ep 3 and 4 to fill, Ep I to II could be a short story but not a TV show and IV to V and V to VI are too little time frames.

I've got a question for you guys, not sure if you've been asked it before and it's not much of an in depth question really. Which code do you prefer, even if it's just for cool factor or you can get into the semantics of it.
The Sith Code; (By Sorzus Syn)
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
    Through passion, I gain strength.
    Through strength, I gain power.
    Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
    The Force shall free me.
    Jedi Code; (By Odan-Urr, kinda?)
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony. (This part was removed from most texts.)
There is no death, there is the Force.
Jedi Code; (Modified by Grandmaster Luke Skywalker) Thought I'd add this one anyway.
Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.
(This seems more like a set of rules than a mantra to me, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.)

Theres one big problem with Bo being Fulcrum .And that's that really very few people know who she is. Even people who haven't seen Clone Wars know who Ahsoka is. Unless you have watched Clone Wars, and there's plenty of stubborn people and new comers who haven't, the reveal would seem very lackluster. And while it would be quite cool it makes more sense for it to be Anakins former padawan because many like myself felt let down when Disney cancelled clone wars after acquiring star wars and left us with no closure in sight. We can now have that.

2:05 I think you meant 5 B.B.Y. Also, I would have to agree with Connor regarding the stormtroopers. It's hard to feel tension in those standard shootouts. At least the TCW battle droids killed things. I like the show overall with the stories they're coming up with, I just think the presentation is questionable.
Okay, Revan, sure, but Dynasty of Evil was great! (In my opinion)
Also, I agree that this way that the Rebel Alliance started made more sense, I just personally found the Galen Marek martyr story more fulfilling.

The only reason that the ewoks were ever created is the fact that George Lucas wanted return of the jedi to take place on the Wookie homeworld. But there weren't very many 6'11" 7'0" men that could fit the wookie costumes, but there was an abundance of midgets that could easily dress up as teddy bears. So Lucas ran with that.

*QUESTION:* Who is the most *underrated Jedi*? Either in one or more of these categories: *#1:* a lot of people lowballing a Jedi's certain skills, *#2:* a small amount of appearances, or *#3:* you personally think a Jedi is underrated due to personal bias and opinions. My answer would have to be *Beldorion* because of his one appearance in a nearly terrible book. He was the only known Hutt Jedi and his backstory was very interesting! What do you guys think, who do you think is the most underrated Jedi? Thank you!

The Galactic Empire should be similar to Nazi Germany, with an efficient and competent army and intelligence agencies. Suppressing the populace of the different planets which has be incorporated into Empire, ruling through fear. The show should show the Rebels on a desperate back foot. Like POW's in the Stalags, like the " Great Escape " to try anything to resist and to fight back in any means necessary. The Rebels episode's should have been darker and more sinister to the audiences.

This is to the UA-cam-rs here, I really enjoy all of your versus videos and Jensaarai, I really love your videos on the seven forms of lightsaber combat. That said, I have a question for the four of you (I need an honest and thought out answer for a story I am writing):
"Say you have a young Jedi Master who is wracked with self-doubt (due to a personal tragedy) and their Force abilities are suffering because of it. (They are now only able to pull of young knight level feats). You want to help them sort through their problem(s) so you take them to talk to some (about 4-6) wise old Jedi Masters (or other Masters of the Force, they do not have to be Jedi). You are capable of taking them anywhere in time and space. Who would you take them to talk to and why?"
That is my question, I look forward to any and all of your responses. I am a HUGE Star Wars fan, but I myself learn something new every time I watch each of your videos, so I thought I would ask the Masters' opinions. May the Force be with you all.

I don't think that Ahsoka would be much farther along as a Jedi than Kanaan, they were both Jedi that never quite completed their training as a Padawan, unless perhaps Ahsoka continued her studies, though that would become more difficult after the Jedi Purge. I never quite liked her as a character, as she became much to powerful to quickly, being able to survive encounters with Grievous while still being a PADAWAN. I hope they still show aspects of under developed skills on her part as the show moves forward, and don't suddenly make her the equivalent of a Jedi Master, what do you guys think?

Regarding the discussion on Dooku v.s. Kenobi, I think some thought needs to be put into HOW Dooku would try to penetrate Kenobi’s guard. Heavy attacks, à la Djem So are not enough, but gliding cuts and feints (like the ones we see Dooku use against Kenobi in Attack of the Clones) are very different. I think it has to be remembered that Soresu was, fist and foremost, a style developed to counter blasters. I have no doubt that Kenobi’s Soresu would allow him to tank a barrage of thrusts from Dooku and he has demonstrated that he can basically “aikido” Anakin’s Djem So-style power attacks. But dealing with what fencers refer to as “actions on the blade”, basically binding -and-winding is something that sources on Soresu have not, to my knowledge addressed. Soresu may offer a “perfect defense” against first intention attacks, but there isn’t a lot of material on how well it fares against second intention attacks. I am not calling a winner here, but I think there is actually some ambiguity on this subject.

Great podcast episode. I don't think Rebels will end with them getting the Death Star Plains. The reason being Star Wars Rogue one's whole plot will be about the Rebellion stealing those plans. I can see the series(being it's all interconnected) referencing it. And who knows? Maybe, we'll see some characters from Rebels in Rogue one. If anything, I can see the show ending with a majority of the crew not making it. I thinK Ezra might go to the dark side and Kanan might be killed off. I can see Sebine and Hera potentially surviving, possibly helping out Leia and being senior members of the Rebellion at that point.

This question is directed to the entire Force Council; love the pod cast by the way.
Anyway, my question is if each of you were to chose one planet in the Star Wars universe to call home, which one would it be, and during which era?

I'd like to point out the [Probable] reason why Batman TAS and Superman TAS followed basically the exact same template is because Batmas TAS Season 4 was being made at the same time as season one of Superman TAS so they were saving themselves the trouble of altering the shows to feel different. on the other hand Rebels and TCW are made one after the other and with really a different studio running the show. Cartoon Network had say in how TCW went down because they provided the show (I assume that's probably how that works feel free to correct me if i am wrong) and Rebels is provided by Disney so it's being influenced by the polar opposite of CN, TCW was rigid in the art style, Rebels is McQuarrie in the art style.

I like how you guys make Jen out to be the grumpy old man in the balcony from the Muppet show, in relation to Disney Star Wars projects. I understand him completely though. The sequel trilogy was the worst and when I first started watching rebels I hated it. Later on, my best friend was watching it and over time, I started to enjoy it. I ended up watching it all; from' start to finish, in 4 days myself. I adore those characters now. I also watch all of the VS. match ups. From all of you. Most of the time I agree. When I do not, I make intelligent rebuttal. Much Love to you all. And may the force be with you, always.

I agree with Antione the most on the general mood of the series.
As for the incompetence of the Stormtroopers, I agree with Reti. It could just be fine if they addressed the poor practicing standards of the Empire on the outer rim *?* areas, but the moment the bring in *Spoilers below*
....Tarkin that excuse is pretty much negated. I just kept thinking "He should be entirely too fucking smart for these people to beat." and was there any particular reason it had to be him? Beyond the shock value of his name nothing that makes Tarkin Tarkin was really exercised, so was he only brought in for the the value of his name? Because that's pretty amateurish. They could've set up their own villain for this *Which is something I appreciate about Rebels* rather than use the character somebody else came up with they plainly don't understand in a professional level of detail. *Quinlan Vos*
Don't get me wrong, he had the mannerisms, but I feel like he was nerfed for the series. Things did get better after his introduction for certain.
I'm less inclined to agree with the threatening nature of the empire in A new hope. Sure, they did make extra crispy versions of Luke's Aunt and Uncle, but killing moisture farmers is hardly up there in terms of challenges when you have your group of friends all armed with E-11 blasters. The Death Star itself takes down a planet but has a super weak point that is slightly larger than Robert Baratheon. Now, as we know most people find The Empire Strikes Back to be the best of the saga, and while I'm in agreement with that I'm not going to try and hold Rebels to a toned down version of those standards until the end of the second season. Not that they shouldn't have the capablities to do it right now, but I'm enjoying the more light-hearted stuff while I can before we get into super depressing Walking Dead season 2 area.
Avatar was absolutely remarkable for its mixing of tragedy and comedy. If Rebels can pull off even a fourth of that it will stand head and shoulders above most media.
I do feel there is an odd mix of the crew of the Ghost being actual characters *People* and them being their respective Archetypes. The reason I feel like Sabine is the weakest character *Chopper doesn't count* is because she so rarely exits that cave.
The animation goes from "That's alright" to "God damn it" it with me, not exceeding that in terms of positivity. Surely I'm not the only one who say Erza's hair keep changing shades in the latter episodes, right? Then again this happens to a number of animated series', but at least with the Legend of Korra you can blame it on changing lighting. The allusions to the old effects on the lightsaber blades is starting to wear thin, and it's something I can't stop noticing. Also that and in my Headcanon Erza's lightsaber is yellow so I'm surprising every time he turns it on. While we're randomly talking about Erza, his eyes seem to lean just the tiniest bit to purple and it's distracting, but in a good way.
Chopper is a Satanabot-47, Sabine apparently has trust issue, Zeb apparently comes from a royal-guardish background, Hera is literally named after the Greek goddess of family, Kanan and Erza are getting there.
I absolutely loved how the handled Luminara, they make it seem like they're doing something incredibly wrong and then they pull the rug out from under you. The whole execution thing made sense from my perspective of "Well, if all the Jedi spontaneously become Swiss cheese and all we have is Palpatine's word for it that they were evil...." and the idea if you were going to capture anyone you'd go for someone like Luminara, who while skilled is hardly a heavy-hitter like Plo-Koon, etc.
But you know what's truly wonderful about this podcast? I'm never always agreeing or disagreeing with one person all the time. It has a actual diverse blend of opinions, unlike some other podcasts I listen to, primary example being Trial by Podcast, were everyone loves Stannis, is at least neutral with Jon and dislikes Daenerys a great deal. *Well, everyone but Danziereviews who leans more to the middle with most things than regulars*
Okay this comment is absurdly lengthy, posting.

Big fan of all your guy's videos including greyjedi, I've seen most of the various VS battles and info vids that the lot of you make and one of the most important things about the videos is that despite your varied opinions about certain that you are all die hard Star Wars fans and that's great.
    SPOILER FOR Star Wars Rebels**
Lots of things I'd like to talk about with you guys but one small thing I'd like to chime in about Vader and what I expect of him in the next season and it's a very small thing compared to other more important aspect of him but as it was discussed about Vader's movement's and his lack of flips and other ataru like moves and I completely agree about that. I hope they stay true to the limitations Vader has built his style around and and response to but also show that even despite his hampered mobility they still show some feats of at least force or mechanical agility. Reason I even say this as it's really not something Vader is know for is that when done right I think it could really set up a nice scene for the Dark Lord to still look as cool as jedi when they just force themselves to literal heights above others. SW The Dark Times comic series issue #32 comes to mind when Vader had avoided the trap Dass and the group set for him, a rush of fuel ignited on a bridge.. what does Vader do? Vertical jump with a slight twist to grab onto a ledge and while not alll that cool in itself, the panel it appears in looks great. It conveys to me at least a sort of certain elegance to the way Vader now applies his force movement. In the video when you discuss his movements you talk about the way Vader sort of glides at times when moving around and I feel like that is a another example of how Vader does at times in need move vertically without doing variouus Ataru flips and twists.
Sorry about the way I had to type this, it looks ugly but I tend to ramble when I try to explain something like this.

Thanks for the support, I'm glad you enjoy our content. I agree with your points about Vader's movements. He's one of those characters that needs to have every aspect of his design and movement nailed or it diminishes his gravitas overall. Vader should always be a presence, whether in animation, comic or movie format. The very air around him should feel heavy, his rattling breath sound seeming to suck the air from the room and his silent stare piercing everyone at once. When he speaks he has something to say and you probably don't want to be hearing it, when he moves, you should feel the overwhelming urge to run fast and far.

    • @Reti4
      @Reti4  9 років тому +2

Darth Orennun Yeah, I don't like how they've suddenly switched it to the Kaibur Crystal now either. I much prefer lots of different types with specific standards chosen for different reasons. Like the Jedi using Adegan crystals from Illum and the Sith using synthetic. It's just a pointless name change with a lot less thought going into it.

    • @OTGGaming0594
      @OTGGaming0594 9 років тому +3

Reti4 actually adegon crystals are from the Adega system while illum crystals are from illum. But my favorite crystals are Tythos crystals from, Tython the ancient Jedi homeworld. They're exceedingly rare, but all those in existence are still good for use in even a dual-pulse lightsaber. Not to be confused with dual phase. Dual pulse is a lightsaber that uses two different types of crystals as the focusing lenses, and they usually use different colored crystals so they normally produce two different colors

I have a cool idea for a versus series if any of you guys are up to it: instead of pitting two characters against each other, why not pit two factions against each other instead? For instance, Galactic Empire in its prime versus Yuuzhan Vong or Naga Sadow's Sith Empire versus Mandalore the Ultimate's neo-crusaders. This could be tougher since you probably would have to take into account each side's politics, tactics, and ideologies in addition to military might but I think it would make it all the more interesting. Regardless, keep up the good work!

  • @llamamall3653

I do agree that Rebels' tone varies to an unnecessary degree, but if you think about it, it makes sense if you take into account the era: When they have contact with the Empire and the Sith, some pretty dark shit is going to go down. At the same time, you can't expect that a crew consisting of people like Ezra is going to be super serious all the time, because Ezra is established to be 15, following Empire Day, and how many people had the capacity to be serious ALL THE TIME when they were 15?

Great Episode guy's took me longer then i had hoped to get around to watching it but that is life. I do have a few thought's though i figured i would toss out.
1: being the fact that yoda says luke is the last jedi. I agree i do not think he was/should be but i do want to point out as great as yoda was he isn't all knowing, could be he didn't know about the other jedi Or he keep it a secret in case luke failed and the information could not be extracted from him. I mean after all they are just coming from a time when a jedi betrayed the whole order and killed dozens/hundreds of jedi.
2: I haven't gotten to the ahsoka part so i am glad to hear she is back, I don't know if i would want Vader to kill her i mean yea he needs to seem he is un-redeemed. However Luke does say he sense's the light still in vader. It could be she kinda begins the opening but isn't really able to fully redeem him but luke can take that little crack she made and expand on it.

3 things: 1. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE REDO OF VADER VS EXAR KUN ONE OF MY FAVE EPISODES ITS GONNA BE GREAT!
    2. On the case of Dookus makashi vs Kenobi's soresu for me it still comes down to too many variables. While it is stated that either mastered soresu is unbreakable by a saber or is only breakable by mastered Juyo/Vaapad. I believe this should be taken with a gain of salt.
As Reti4 states it is almost imposible to speed blitz Kenobi (Grevious fight). And it is also shown that strength wise he is hard to break through as well (Mustafar vs Vader)
So the only thing left is percision and like Connor said. Dooku is the Makashi master.
Pretty much I feel Dooku could slip though kenobi's defense, BUT ONLY due to Dooku's expirence and his knowlege of kenobis fighting style. If two duelist who were exactly the same level. Same styles. But not as much expirence or knowlege of each other then no. Dooku couldn't but i feel if given enough time Dooku would find a weakness.
If I recall if the Malgus vs Kenobi video. Malgus does disarm Kenobi. Which I believe is possible and Kenobi is better equipe to deal with speed over power. So just as a side note: I personally believe fencing alone. Yoda(apart from maybe his knowelge of kenobis fighting style) or any other ataru master cant break kenobi, same with shii-cho
Nor can Niman (of they are only using blade work, say Exar Kun) but i believe Forms 5 and 7 could.
    And 3.
On the topic of Sidious vs Krayt. I feel as duelists sidious has higher skill. But would attempt jar'kai dueling against krayt. Just as krayt uses duel weilding. And as far as jar kai goes Krayt in my opinon has the edge. But sidious would realize his error and quickly return to a sinlge blade or force abilities. On the topic of the force. Id say magnitude sidious, variety Krayt. So around even.
This match would be a huge toss up.
But I my voice my opinon. That All because Some one is an avatar of there force side. Doesnt mean they isntantly out do every one.
And I believe that Luke, who i dont believe is considered some kind of avatar. Would out match yoda.
As far as Yoda vs Bane. Remeber that while not a black void like sidious. Bane is still the sith'ari and is exteremly powerful. And also remeber that Yoda does have his limits, like the telekenisis Bout with Dooku as yoda has a tough time with quick little applications. Like look as how he drops his cane when dooku throws the metal object( not to sure what it is ) at him. If he was quicker on the draw he shouldn't have had to drop his cane.
I dont believe yoda is definetly more powerful than Bane and shouldnt have been given the edge. In my opinion if they we to fight. Bane would fall be saber combat or not at all. Yoda decapitates bane or stabs him through the heart or Bane outlasts Him. BUT either way Antoine did a fanatasic job on the fight.
And p.s. I don't care what Lucas says. Sidious being the most powerful sith is debatable.

Great podcast as always council masters, Reti, I know this might sound annoying and all but if at all possible I want you to put out more versus vids. More often then not I agree with your point of views during the podcasts and your versus videos, and I enjoy how you don't particularly show bias even towards characters I presume you enjoy more than others. I go to Jen and Antoine for flare and to see certain characters portrayed in the best light possible , but I go to Evan and you for a fair and balanced portrayal of all characters involved in your videos.
Also I agree with you on the whole Mace v. Asajj thing, the fight was over in a couple panels and the only time Mace seemed to be having any trouble was when he evaded Asajj's blade in mid air . Immediately afterwards she admitted that he was superior and fled , the fact file may have said it took all that mace had but I believe that was an embellishment. I personally subscribe to the camp that places Dooku and Mace as equals.

wjb61274123 Thanks very much, we're glad you enjoyed. Don't worry, it's not annoying, whenever people ask for more or when my next video's coming out it is only ever a nice thing to see. I apologise for always taking so long, it's just that unlike the others I can only do so much at certain times, and on top of that, I'm extremely lazy. For example, I can only really record once a week at random times because of noise and family factors, I use waaaaaay more images and videos than any of the others because I'm an idiot, which takes much longer to edit, I don't have a great deal of time to write the scripts because I have work, college work, gaming team obligations and familial obligations getting in the way. Every time I'm *really* in a productive mood I can't make use of it because I need to sleep or work or any other number of things. If not later this year then next year things will quiet down though, and I will start ramping up the output properly. Until then, I'm working as best I can.

In regards to Imperial incompetence, the Empire in the original trilogy their rank and file was rather incompetent in the movies. They got their butts kicked by relatively untrained rebels. When it comes to Callus and the Inquisitor, when ever those two were on screen, I also felt a bit of a sense of peril, that the Rebels were in some trouble. The military officers and troops on Lothal are kinda just garrisons. Probably conscripts. Not the 501st. In regards to Jedi surviving Order 66, it is clear by the existence of the Inquisitors and the whole Luminara trap that the Empire has purged some Jedi.

I think one of the justification for the humor and the lightness is the hopelessness of the situation. Its gallows humor. The fall won't kill you so you might as well enjoy it, anything to forget the inevitable ground.
    ua-cam.com/video/vH3-Gt7mgyM/v-deo.html
I feel that the force unleashed could also work hand in hand with this reinterpretation of the lore. I always felt that Starkiller wasn't intended to create rebellion, but rather focus it. You have these little groups of malcontents popping up on disparate worlds and the empire is playing wackamole and loosing its grip. We know that you have well placed guys like Bail helping to organize and support little cells into something potentially dangerous.
Sidious does not fear the direct military threat of a rebellion. He commands the resources of 50 million systems; the fanatical devotion of untold billions and the most powerful war fleet in galactic history. He fears chaos spreading across his realm like wildfire because (baring natural disasters or utter overwhelming annihilation) a war is always won or lost in the minds of the people. The rebellions aided and abetted by the likes of Bail are a threat to the legitimacy of his rule; a new order built on the promise of strength, stability and peace.
These people slip through his hands like smoke and for every one he finds three more will step into the martyrs place. He needs Galen to build the rebellion on his terms. So he can bring them to a battle they really cant win because right now he is fighting a war on their terms and he can not make any real traction.
I see the crew of the ghost as a part of the sea of rebellion that would latter co-aless into the rebel alliance. I think that at the time of season 1 there is no over all rebel alliance and that we will see its gradual formation as the series progresses. I think that the final episode will be on Yavin right before or during the death star run.
Ahsoka isn't human. She isn't even near human. Shaak Ti looks pretty good for her sixty year old in the force unleashed. And the hilt could fit the bones and joints of her alien anatomy better than you or I.
That's one of the things that I never got. Aliens where never really alien; never really explored alien mindsets and an alien approach to the force. Fear leads to anger and so on and so forth but how does that apply to a being without those emotions. Compare and contrast humans with the Faleen, shard minds, Rattakans or some god awful ganglionic hyper predator like a force sensitive abyssal squid or horrific spydrocity.
As to Vader Vs he might try to corrupt her to help him kill the emperor... he probably would give their history. Remember that she is a jedi of the old school, a warrior forged on the killing grounds of the clone wars. I seriously doubt that she would even try to redeem or honorably engage Vader. I think she do the sensible thing... and (fail to) nuke the sith from orbit; its the only way to be sure.

But the problem is, is that even though little cells coming together to form the Alliance makes sense, the way it was presented in Rebels was very pathetic. First off, you don't spray paint TIE fighters if you want to form a Rebellion. That'll make people think you're just a random little criminal/thug. Second, even though the way the Rebel Alliance was founded in the Force Unleashed was kinda clunky, they at least declared war against the empire, whereas the way it was founded in Rebels was very clunky in my opinion. But still, anything would have been better than letting the Rebel Alliance be founded by a fucking Space Aladdin.

Official declarations of war are quite rare these days in real life.
I highly doubt that the galactic civil war was ever really declared on either side.

First I would like to say that what you guys do is awesome and really enjoy your insight on star wars lore. I wanted to share a personal peeve of mine which is that in most star wars media particularly the films little is done to distinguish the lightside and the darkside from each other, especially the dangers of the darkside and how emotions influence it and in turn influence the user. The worst offenders are the video games (which I still love) in which their is no true consequence in user either (looking at you jedi knight series {which I love}). There is a fanfiction on archive of our own the captures my personal opinion on the force and while it my be a bit of a stretch to ask you guys to read it, I really want to know your opinions of it. It's called lightbearer by esama and while it stands strong in terms of an extreme au take on episode 1 It's the author's introspection on the force that I'm interested in your opinions. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment hope to hear a response

The comparisson between Rebels's depiction of the Imperials and ATLA's depiction of the Fire Nation is rather badly off, most importantly because throughout Season 1 the Fire Nation Army repeatedly got their ass handed to them by the heroes far worse than the Imperials ever got, and considerably big part of their villainous actions was exactly the same kind "being a bully" the Imperials pulled in Rebels. The threat they posed didn't come from their on-screen performance but from the world they created, and this is where the comparison becomes unfair, for a number of reasons:
1: The first season of ATLA had 20 proper episodes not 13 proper episodes+ 4 promoshorts and a double length Special. They had more time to flash-out the world.
2: ATLA was a traditionally animated TV series with a considerable budge. They had everything they needed to build a rich and detailed world. Rebels is a CG series that lacks TCW's ample funding (TCW cost an average 2,5 million USD/episode, which is about half the budge of an average episode for freaking Game of Thrones!), and as a direct result of that it lacks much of the proccessing capablities, man power (just check any episodes ending credits: the number of animators listed is at tops a quarter of the number any TCW episode lists) that TCW had. Throw-in the fact that they had to finish most of Season 1 in about 18 months, which means they didn't have much rendering time either. TCW was in production for 3 years by the time it premiered, so it had time to build-up it's assets, from which they could construct a decently detailed world from the start, that still paled in comparison to what they reached just one season later.
3: ATLA was on Nickelodeon, which is far more willing to experiment, and at the time it was more willing to go for a more adult tone, than Disney XD currently is. I mean look the "masterpieces" it hosts, such as Ultimate Spider-man! Same goes for TCW and CN. Rebels couldn't go as dark as those series did, even Filoni wanted it to, because the execs currently in charge of Disney's television branch would never let them do it.
All this combined, means that until now, the Rebels crew quite simply didn't have the tools to pull off the kind of episodes which cemented the Fire Nation as a dangerous force in the first season of ATLA.

Verebazs Just to clarify, we weren't referring to the threat posed by the Fire Nation and the Empire in the comparison, we were mostly talking about the character development there.
But regarding your production points, I don't know how accurate that all is but if that's the reason the show is worse fine. It doesn't change the fact that the show is worse though, and as for budgetary stuff I find it hard to believe that Disney is holding back on anything Star Wars, the show would make a profit from the title power alone.
As for the dark aspects it's got nothing to do with them being told they can't do darker stuff, proven by the fact that the show gets darker later on in the series. There's no way in hell that Tarkin scene would get by censors if they were the ones toning down the show overall, the show does go into the dark stuff, it just doesn't do it consistently or at the right moments in my opinion.
The episode amount has little to do with it too, you can write well-developed characters in much less than 14 episodes.

Awesome! was waiting for this dicussion. Just a couple things I'd like to touch on as I watch.
    1. I see both sides of the tonal shift and experience of the team on the show. While it is a different time like Evan said, Reti's point saying they need to continue what they did well in TCW and put it into Rebels makes total sense. It's one of those arguments that really doesn't have a definitive answer.
    2. Antoine mentions how the next season will be darker and more adult, right? While never explicitly stated, it kind of sounds like he's saying you shouldn't judge it because we're going somewhere better LATER. But the point is you need to judge where it is NOW so you know what you'll be going into. I like Rebels myself, but because of what I've seen no, not what I'm promised later. No insult to Antoine though, that's not what I'm trying to do at all.
    3. In terms of art style, I like the homage to McQuarrie and I think it fits Star Wars. It feels too round, though. Not enough grit because everything has a smooth quality to it rather than the used future aesthetic featured in Original trilogy. Lightsabers being more like rapiers I actually like. I'd rather something closer to a sword than a paddle. And the glow is so good. The lip sync I actually agree with Reti on. Mouths seem very loose and and not controlled like TCW, but that might be in part due to the angular design. The eyes also feel really "off".

    Great episode, guys.
I personally like Ahsoka's new outfit in Rebels. It's kind of like a Samurai garb which is really cool, in my opinion. Plus, like Jensaarai1 mentioned, her saber hilt is sort of reminiscent of a katana handle. So it kind of has a theme with her outfit.

The Joker 10259 It's growing on me. I think the main reason I disliked it so much was the torso armour, it just looks so bland when it should be what ties the entire ensemble together. (Also my dislike of the art style doesn't help)

The Joker 10259 He's a fair degree superior to Anakin's level in Attack of the Clones in my opinion. I would consider him yes.
