I still can’t believe I listen to this song almost daily. I was housesitting for some friends in 1991 and found a VHS tape with this movie recorded on it. Absolutely my favorite movie of all time. Hands-down. This song reminds me of a simpler time.
I found this movie on On Demand last night and watched it three times. Totally worth the $3.99 to rent it. This song makes me think of my husband, whom I lost in January of this year.
While the movie didn’t live up to my expectations the song certainly does every time I listen to it. It makes me think of a woman that I love very much but can’t be more than friends with due to a complicated situation.
That was an excellent decade for great movies & songs (although a few I had to ask permission to see a couple as I was underage - barely a teen in the '80's). I have never seen this film but I love David Foster's music. I am determined to see it eventually.
I logged on to UA-cam just to find this song if that tells you anything!! This song, this movie, this soundtrack brings out so much emotion deep inside me. It takes me back to my childhood when life was so easy! Nostalgic!
One of my most favorite songs. So many of Fosters songs are among my favorites, and I felt that way long before I even knew who he was, or that he composed them. The movie is a masterpiece. 60's and 70's America. Baseball. Young love. A boy and his Dad. Best friends. Youthful shenanigans. Heartbreak. Second chances. Tragedy and Redemption. Nostalgia. Beautiful music. New beginnings. I can't tell you how many times I have watched this movie. It is my all time favorite! How it is not more well known makes no sense to me!
David Foster was to the 80s as Phil specter and Burt Bacharach was to the 60s. He totally dominated the 80s. Almost every musical act was touched by his genius and became a success because of it.
Pity Phil Specter had such genius & yet had been a really rotten human being his whole life ending when his fragile ego couldn't accept the refusal of a beautiful woman. So, Phil being Phil, he forced a gun so hard into her mouth he broke her front teeth out & then he blew he head of.....
An old school friend put this song onto audio cassette for me when I visited her at Cambridge uni in 1995, but I never knew the title or artist. The tape melted and I haven't heard the song in some 15 years... I recalled it today, and armed only with the lyrics 'when she danced' and 'innocence', somehow managed to track it down. Isn't the internet amazing... thanks for posting, brought an emotioanl smile:')
The internet is indeed amazing. I tracked down a Santana song I couldn't remember the title of (Hold On) simply by entering a line from the song - not even in the chorus: "let me be the one to say when I've had enough"...
OMG, almost the same story here! Only someone I went to camp with introduced it to me and a few years later I dated someone else who loved this song. It's completely timeless!
I went for a drive in Las Vegas, it's a custom to arrive in Las Vegas and take a drive to see a scenic tour everyone drives along the same road, so I drove along the scenic tour and got to the Mesa apartments and this car speeds by in the apt parking so I left the parking went straight and decided I wax going to have dinner at Red Lobster on the right parkec went in had dinner. A NV Cheerleader
I love "Stealing Home." I've always wondered if someone besides comedy writer Steven Kampmann had directed it if it couldn't have been even better. The dialogue is sharp (Be my friend!) and the music is amazing. Every boy who's ever had a crush on his babysitter or the woman down the beach knows this coming of age story is so real. It's a shame it doesn't get played on TV anymore.
Baseball and a sweetheart girl next door movie. Is there anything more American. God bless America and it’s strong beautiful women who had an effect on all us men growing up from boys.
This song has so much meaning for me. I finally am in love with girl of my dreams. I've known her since 3rd grade and I knew then she was my soul mate. I love you M.
I've seen this so many times, I still cry every time.. I love this song so much.. I can't find it anywhere to stream or download. *Leaves to rent it again*
I grew up with Indiana Jones an Luke Skywalker but this film struck a cord with me that stays to this day an the next , fabulous film ,great story an superb soundtrack , just a special special movie 😥 Billy Wyatt
Is not was! Catherine McPher (sp?) and David Foster will have a beautiful life together! I love both of them so much! This would be a perfect wedding song. 💗👰

David Forster is such a legend and a musical genius. Songs like these we don’t get to hear much anymore in present time. I feel it in my heart. Thank you, David Foster.

This is the saddest yet the most beautiful pop ballad melody I've ever heard.
I love it too I have since I was a kid. I have been to several of David Fosters concerts. I want him to play this song in his concert!!

Can you go back in time to a place in your mind
To the one who knew a part of you
That you just couldn't find
If you ask me to choose between a memory or two
When it's said and done
I'll take the one who's love i had to lose
Cause when she danced
I lost my inner sense
I loved her danced i always will
She left with me
But still with me
A burnin' memory
She took with her a part of me
If i could get back where i've been
Feel the passion i left then
I'd be there right now and yet somehow
It never comes again
She had nothin' to gain
No where to go
To the way out of pain
The time with
With a song and dance she lost romance
The world had gone insane
Caused when she danced
Caused when we danced
I lost my inner sense
I loved her dance
I love
I always will
I always will
She left with me
He left with me
A burnin' memory
Remember somehow
She took with her a part of me
Can you go back in time to a place in your mind
To the one who knew a part of you
That you just couldn't find
Lookin' back i'm not sure
If i couldn't heard someone
When she danced with me
Our hearts were free as far as i could see
I'd be there right now and yet somehow
It never comes again
When she danced with me
Our hearts were free
