My husband of 9 years passed away without warning November 19, 2019 it's only been 2 months since he left me to go be with God. He used to sing this song to me. I miss his voice, I miss him holding me, I miss him loving me, I miss everything about him. I wish that he was here with me. We have an 8 year old son together and he misses him everyday. With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, my husband is no longer suffering I will love and miss him dearly. This song hits close to home and touches my heart so deeply 💔 I don't know if I will ever be able to go on without my husband. He was the love of my life! RIP my love. It's not goodbye it's see you later until we meet again! I love you!❤️😭

My father loved my mother so much!! She lived to be 84 and passed away from Alzheimer's.. We kept her at home for as long as we could, but the last few months she was in a nursing home. He would stay the entire day with her. And then four years later my father passed away from congestive heart failure at 89. They loved each other so much. My daughter, granddaughter and I took care of both of them in their home. We'd love them so much. My father was like a father to my granddaughter. He got to see her go off to college, but passed away right before she graduated. We were so blessed to have them ❤️
isn't it funny that music is the only constant in our lives. People come and go, friends come and go, people we love die, or just move on. But the music is always there.
My husband was in music sales and not only sold Mr. Hill's records but met him several times. He also lived in the same town as we did. I met him quite by accident at a fishing store. Both my husband and he were looking at fishing rods. What a thrill. 😊
Brings back such beautiful and fond memories of a better time in my life. Now, im just existing day by day. I wish for better days ahead. I miss the girl i think of when this song plays.❤

This song makes me cry... I have a memory of my mom saying as she turned on the radio... "This song is dedicated to you from Jesus." The strange part... She was intoxicated. And in the morning, didn't remember... I never forgot... 🌹🌻
That's so sweet, Music can be like a balcony in our lives and bring us such comfort and joy. It sounds like your mom had a meaningful moment with this song, and it's great that you were able to cherish it.

This song could have been written about me and how I feel about my wife. I'm 72 now and after 32 years of marriage I love her as much as I did when we tied the knot. I want to hold her 'til I die!
@Newsum Susie I understand what you're saying. When my first wife left me for someone else I felt my whole world was done. When I met my current wife two years later I knew I had found my woman for life. Don't give up.
@@edwinaarmstrong1803 It will be 33 years of marriage this November and I can't get enough of her. I'm 72 now and I hope and pray we have many more years together.
I know exactly how you feel Dave , met my next door neighbor in the summer of 1964. She just turned 16 and I just got out of the Army. We dated for two more years, then got married July 23, 1966. We will soon have our 53rd wedding anniversary and like you I still love my wife as much now as I did when I first met her. We've had a wonderful life together and I can truthfully and honestly say I'd do it all over again and again.
what happened to the good old days!! their all stuck in the 80s!! Remember roller skating! the sounds of Philadelphia thats when music had true meaning! it just made you move emotionally spiritualy and soulfully
On the gold wedding celebry of my parents, very late night, all the guests gone, I put that song on the player and first my parents danced with each other and my young wife with me. During the song, we changed partners, my Dad danced with my wife and my Mum with me............ One of the greatest moments of my life.....................
Dan Hill, this is one of your most wonderful songs!!! This song I heard for the first time when I was about 6 years old. My wonderful step mother and my sisters would sing along when it was playing on the radio. I am 53 years old now and I have never forgotten how beautiful this song is. The words reached me, even at 8 years old. My mom passed away when she was only 36 when I was 3 years old and I have been lost ever since. Music is the only thing that grounds me.
Listened to this song through the years. Brings me to tears only because at a late age in my life I realize I never experienced such love in my entire life!
@@marksheircliff5329 thanks for commenting. I have been blessed many ways in my life, and in times like this I need not complain as I realize love passed me by because of my naivety.
This song gives me chills. I'm 54 and I've been married to my wonderful husband since I was 19 and here we are 35 years later. This was the music of our era and it''s still great today. Our boys always tell us that they are so thankful we raised them with such great music.
That's amazing, Music has such a special meaning in our lives and it's wonderful that it has been part of your life for so many years. I'm sure the music you shared with your family will stay with them forever. What do you think is the secret ingredient that makes certain music timeless?
Living in a village this is one of the songs I was able to memorize when I was in 3rd grade. My mother used to have cassette tapes that played these kind of music. I was so blessed...
years ago, He did a concert in Toronto Canada. Our class had made a field trip of it and I did not go. My girlfriend was killed the early morning of the concert. Some how they got the information to him and he dedicated this song to her memory... Thanks Dan
@jamiehanna45, even though it was a long time ago, I am sorry for your lose. It is a bittersweet memory. From what you wrote, I know you deeply appreciated what Dan Hill did for you that night. Hugs to you and God bless.
My heart goes out to you. I always loved this song but now it will take it to another level for me. I will not forget your heart breaking loss. God bless

An amazing artist! Dan served as a staple for awesome music in the 80s! I was 17, when this came out. Now at 56, I can still feel the raw emotions, but the song is just as fresh! Thanks Dan for communicating through song our I felt as a teenager in love!
At the age of 23, I have never had a boyfriend all my life but it feels like I do have one while playing this song. Sometimes, we don't need rush love just like the singer we should always think first before we decide to open our hearts who are ready to love. May God bless us, He is love and someone is meant for us not now but next day, month, years or even decades. Don't stop praying and trusting God folks.
This song has a special place in my heart. Listening to it, It’s as if time stands still and I’m with Doug again on a warm Saturday night and we are the only two people in the world and for that span of time, that’s all we need. RIP Love.
This really gets me. I am stil with the one I love. She is my life even I don't tell here that often she really is. Be strong Paula and cherish the thoughts until you one day you'll be in his heavenly arms again. ❤️
How I wish we could rewind the times. 1972 wishing this kind of music go on forever. I am 66 and my memories are still fresh. Love this song. This is what I call real music.
I can't tell you how happy and astonished I am that this has over 50 million views/listens. I've always been concerned that not enough people know this brilliant track. To see so many people appreciating it is very gratifying. To me, it's the greatest, most poignant love song ever.
I used to thing this was a cheesy love song before I heard the backstory: "In an interview with ANC's 'Headstart' on Thursday, the Grammy winner recalled being 'madly in love with a woman' when he penned this song, but that love was not reciprocated. 'She was interested in another man, so that was breaking my heart. So I thought I needed to write a song that would capture her and win her over-that would be so passionate in a sense that she’d see that I’m the only guy for her,' said Hill. 'I wrote her the song and I played it over the telephone, and she said ‘that song is just too intense for me. I’m going to the States with the football player.'" And I gained a new respect for Dan Hill and this song. He poured his heart out, believed every lyric, and in that context, not cheesy at all. Sometimes you think, "oh they're just saying words on paper to try and purposely melt hearts", but after hearing that, wow, that shit came straight from the soul and was 100% sincere.
She said he was to intense and serious. He later gave the song to a producer I believe who crafted it in the fashion presented here. He did not want to do it, but relented and became famous. She broke up with the football player.
It is sad that the lady didn't choose Dan. Then again, that could likely be said for both genders reaching out to somebody of the opposite gender. This kinda speaks on my now ended love for a girl I met at a workplace. We were total complete opposites. I was nothing she was looking for. She wanted muscles. It's something I didn't have and couldn't get. Since being rejected by her harshly and plainly, I totally walked away from love. This includes a time a girl I never saw or knew saw me in high school during my senior. I rejected her out of pure anger towards that girl I got rejected by. That other girl found somebody else. I'm doing fine now. I still think about those two girls, but I won't be pursuing either one of them. Life goes on, and this kind of music needs to come back ON OVERDRIVE! By the way, thanks for sharing this.
I love grewing strong and have theses song's I got out of a 32 year relationship and I know life is not Fair but it's just a matter of time before I get to fall in love again
One of the finest songs ever. Every aspect of the song is perfect in terms of lyrics, music, tune, content and more. Doubt very much that we will get songs like this in future. 70s and 80s are the best times. I am now 63 yrs and have been listening to such masterpieces since 1977. Nostalgic memories.

This touched me be strong
This song, the words….
If you know, you’ve lived, you’ve loved, you’re alive.
You ask me if I love you
And I choke on my reply
I'd rather hurt you, honestly
Than mislead you with a lie
And who am I to judge you
On what you say or do?
I'm only just beginning
To see the real you
And sometimes when we touch
The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you 'til I die
'Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you
'Til the fear in me subsides
Romance and all its strategy
Leaves me battling with my pride
But through the insecurity
Some tenderness survives
I'm just another writer
Still trapped within my truth
A hesitant prize fighter
Still trapped within my youth
Sometimes when we touch
The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you 'til I die
'Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you
'Til the fear in me subsides
At times I'd like to break you
And drive you to your knees
At times I'd like to break through
And hold you endlessly
At times I understand you
And I know how hard you've tried
I've watched while love commands you
And I've watched love pass you by
At times I think we're drifters
Still searching for a friend
A brother or a sister
But then the passion flares again
And sometimes when we touch
The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you 'til I die
'Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you
'Til the fear in me subsides
Thank you very much for the lyrics❤

Hi why can’t people just say that the song is good or bad
This was one of my favorite songs growing up. Listened to it on my mom's record player!
Yes,it's such a lovely song 💕
Yes 😍😍😍
My father loved my mother so much!! She lived to be 84 and passed away from Alzheimer's.. We kept her at home for as long as we could, but the last few months she was in a nursing home. He would stay the entire day with her. And then four years later my father passed away from congestive heart failure at 89. They loved each other so much. My daughter, granddaughter and I took care of both of them in their home. We'd love them so much. My father was like a father to my granddaughter. He got to see her go off to college, but passed away right before she graduated. We were so blessed to have them ❤️
I love this song 😊
They both died knowing how much you all loved them. You all will be rewarded.
An emotional, lovely song. Thank you, Mr Dan Hill.
This song tears me up as an adolescent and still does in adulthood...Thank you Dan

Love this song. This is what I call real music.
oh yes great times great music and great friends we had what has this world come too...
I can't tell you how happy and astonished I am that this has over 50 million views/listens. I've always been concerned that not enough people know this brilliant track. To see so many people appreciating it is very gratifying. To me, it's the greatest, most poignant love song ever.
I used to thing this was a cheesy love song before I heard the backstory:
"In an interview with ANC's 'Headstart' on Thursday, the Grammy winner recalled being 'madly in love with a woman' when he penned this song, but that love was not reciprocated.
I’m going to the States with the football player.'"
And I gained a new respect for Dan Hill and this song.
Puppet Punch WOW! So passionate!
Puppet Punch
Wow. How could a woman reject a man so beautifully pouring out his heart to her.
Puppet Punch wow!
